You joined your group of best friends to the beach for a day out. Elizabeth and Jane had coaxed you into going with them and your mutual friend Scotty Beckett and your crush Roddy McDowall. You were excited but also nervous as this would be your first time to the beach and the first time Roddy would see you in a swimsuit.

A car honked outside your home and you rushed to put on a large oversized shirt before grabbing your bag and rushing downstairs. Your mom had finished making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when you arrived in the kitchen.

"There's enough in the basket for all you. Just be careful y/n." She kissed your cheek and sent you on your way.

Roddy was driving while your three friends were crammed in the back seats. You smiled and waved as you approached the car.

"What's in the basket?" Elizabeth asked. Jane laughed while shaking her head.

"Mom made us sandwiches." You said quietly as you got in. Scotty grabbed the basket and placed it in his lap.

Roddy began driving towards the beach. You sat back and watched your house become non existent in the mirror. Elizabeth and Jane were giggling quietly to themselves while Scotty was humming the tune of 'Judaline' from an upcoming picture he was doing with Elizabeth and Jane.

Once you got to the beach, you couldn't help but laugh at your friends as they couldn't get to the water fast enough. Scotty had laid out the towels on the sand while the others jumped into the ocean.

"You seem a little timid today. Are you okay?" Scotty asked while patting the towel next to him.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just that this is my first time to the beach and well, I'm nervous to show him my swimsuit," you looked down at your hands. He scooted a little closer to you.

"There's nothing to be afraid of. We'll protect you and I think he'll like it." He winked before draping his arm around your shoulders with a grin on his face. You smiled and looked out into the ocean to see Roddy stand straight up and stare at the two of you. Elizabeth and Jane were oblivious to the fact that Roddy had stopped splashing them.

"Roddy's been in a mood these last few days. Just ignore him." Scotty turned to you. You couldn't take your eyes away from Roddy. He looked almost jealous. No that can't be.

"He hasn't looked away since you put your arm around me." You finally tore your eyes away from him as he began approaching you. You could feel your cheeks heat up at the presence of your crush standing in front of you.

"Scotty, the girls want you to splash them." Scotty took his arm off your shoulders and stood up, glaring at Roddy before jogging to the water. Roddy sat down to your left and wrapped his arms around his knees.

"That wasn't very nice. Scotty was only being a good friend." You began playing with the sand, scooping and pouring it out of your hand.

"He didn't have to put his arm on you like that. I need to teach that boy a lesson."

"He was only being comforting, after all this is-"

"This is what?" He raised an eyebrow. For the first time since he sat down you finally looked in his eyes.

"This is my first time at the beach."

"That was all?" You nodded, looking ahead at Scotty twirling Jane around in the water.

"Yes, and that I was nervous to show you what I look like in a swimsuit."

"What you look like in a swimsuit?" He muttered to himself. He rubbed the back of his neck while his eyes grew wide.

"I'm sure you look lovely." He said in an absent minded tone.

"Roddy, I like you. I have for quite some time. Scotty has known this and has tried to give me advice. You silly boy just never noticed the hints."

"Really?" You nodded.

"Really." He gave you a smile, any sort of feeling he had before seemed to no longer bother him. You carefully took off the shirt to reveal your solid white one piece swimsuit.

"My, I'm honored." He kissed your cheek before picking you up and carrying you into the ocean. His arm never once leaving your waist.
