Maybe it was the sunshine or the glisten on the ocean. Maybe it was the season to fall in love, or maybe it was the fact that you were already in love from the last summer, and the one before that.

There stood the man you loved, on the shoreline flying his model airplane up towards the sand where you sat nearby. He was wearing the biggest smile and a pair of sunglasses only he could look irresistible in.

You fell in love with him when you were working at the studio just before the war. He was making the pictures and you were working behind the scenes. Assisting with the costume department. His shyness spoke to you.

You went on a couple dates and just acted like friends until he kissed you goodnight on the third. You found yourself laying on his couch and sharing the dreams you two had for your future. A nice sized ranch and three children.

He would still work in the movies because that was his passion, and you would continue to design costumes. It would be perfect.

His model airplane landed about twenty feet away from you. He was cautious to make sure it wouldn't hit you. He ran up the sand and brought it back to your towels.

"That sure is a lot of fun." He laid down on the empty towel beside you.

"Looks it. It's such a beautiful day."

"The beach is wonderful. Why don't we live out here? It's nearly empty and looks pretty safe."

"I wouldn't be opposed. It would be quite a drive to the studio every day."

"I suppose you're right. But you know, work will slow down. People will move onto another star and I'll just be washed up. Maybe that'll be the perfect time to come out here."

"You don't really believe that, do you?"

"I try not to. But you never know. They're always finding talented up-and-comers."

"I don't think you'll ever go out of style, Jim. You're not like the others. You stand out when you're on the screen. You stand out in a good way."

He smiled and wrapped his arms around his knees. He looked forward at the ocean, listening to it crash. You leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"I love you Jim."

"I love you too y/n."
