《Jade Garmadon: Lloyd Garmadons little brother》Chapter 12 ~Shadow Boy

I was sitting at the table drawing my vision of a galaxy. Mom placed a bowl of apple slices besides my colored pencils and she walked over to the sink and washed the dishes.
"Hey Jade, whatcha doin squirt?" Kai snickered and messed up my hair, making me giggle.
"Drawing the galaxy."
"You really do got your head up in space, don't ya?"
"Yep! I enjoy learning about the solar system."
Kai chuckled and then Jay, Cole, and Zane sat down at the table around me. Each one of them admired my art work. I kept mixing the colors to create my galaxy.
An hour passed. Everyone was still at the table, eating or on their phones. Zane and Nya were cooking up some lunch, and Wu was lecturing Kai about his obsession with Twitter. The only person who wasn't in the kitchen was Lloyd. Where could he be?
"Mooooomm!" I raised my voice slightly just to make sure I got my mother's attention.
"Yes, Jade? What is it?"
"Where's Lloyd?"
"I'm not sure. I remember seeing him leave his room but I'm not sure where he went."
"Hmm...."
"Watch out everyone! Jade is gonna become a super detective now." Jay snorted.
"Jay, leave squirt alone. He just wants to know where Lloyd is." Kai shot a glare at Jay.
"I never saw him leave the monistary so I'm sure Lloyd is still in the building." Zane actually provided me with informat. I turned into my shadow form and jumped into the shadows on the walls. I jumped from shadow to shadow, running down the hallways of the monistary. I checked each room for Lloyd.
Finally I found him in the training room. I stayed within the shadows, and watched Lloyd. He was sitting on a pillow, meditating. His head tilted down, and his eyelashes flickered every now and then. I floated up to the shadows on the ceiling, and prepared myself to jump down and surprise Lloyd.

Just as I was about to jump down, Lloyd opened his mouth.
" I know you are there Jade. I can sense your presence." He picked his head up but kept his eyes closed. I slipped and fell down, crashing down onto Lloyd. I turned back to normal as we both groaned in pain.
"Sorry about that.." I nervously giggled as I stood up.
"It's fine. I'm just glad you're getting better with your powers." Lloyd smiled. I smiled back and turned into a shadow again. My cat, Astrid rubbed her head against my legs. How does she appear out of no where??
I picked up Astrid and she nuzzled my face with her head, making me giggle. I saw Lloyd leaving the room out of the corner of my eye.
"Brother?"
"Hum?" Lloyd looked back at me.
"Where are you going?"
"Just going for a walk."
"Can I come with you? Please." I begged as Astrid jumped out of my arms.
"Heh, ok fine. But turn back into your normal form."
With that said I turned back to normal and took Lloyds hand as we left the monistary.

Lloyd and I walked to the playground. I ran off and climbed around the jungle gym. Lloyd sat down on a bench and watched me run around, wasting my childish energy.
A couple of hours went by, and I was still playing on play ground. I climbed to the top of the monkey bars and looked around for Lloyd, but I couldn't find him. He wasn't on the bench.
"Lloyd??" I glanced around the playground, trying to find my brother. I found him by the fountain nearby, he waved and smiled at me, reassuring me that he was still there. I smiled back and kept playing on the playground.

I swayed back and forth on the swing and I looked up at the sky, watching the clouds go by. Just then I felt a pair of hands grab me from under my armpits and they picked me up off the swing roughly.
It wasn't Lloyd
I screamed and kicked the guy, but he had a tight grip on me.
"LLOYD!!!!! HELP!!!!!!" I screamed as I punched the man. The man didn't loosen his grip and I kept screaming. Just then a fist pounded into the man's face. Lloyd grabbed me back and placed me behind himself to protect me.
"Leave my brother alone!!" Lloyd growled. The guy kicked Lloyds stomach and shoved him aside, to the ground. The guy stomped over to me and I screamed. I saw my shadowy magic shoot out of my hands, and hit the guy in his chest. He stumbled back and groaned in pain.
"Go away!!" I clentched my fists and glared at the guy. He glared back then stormed back up to me. Lloyd kicked the guys face and smashed his fist into the man's face. Soon enough the guy dashed away. Lloyd ran over to me and hugged me tighter than ever.
"You're ok right?! Did he hurt you?! If he did, I'm hunting him down and snapping his neck!!" Lloyd franticly asked.
"I think I'm ok." I whimpered and hugged Lloyd. He picked me up and held me in his comforting arms.
"Come on buddy, let's go home." Lloyd whispered.
"Okay, bubba."
Lloyd and I went back home and we stayed inside for the rest of the day. I was terrified that the same guy would break in and try to take me again.
I hugged onto Lloyd who was relaxing on the couch. Jay on the other side and Zane in the bean bag.
"You ok, Jaddie?" Lloyd asked as he held me in his lap.
"What if that man comes back and tries to get me again?" I whimpered.
"What guy???" Jay perked up quickly. Zane looked at Lloyd with a serious face.
"Some man tried kidnapping Jade, but Jade and I kicked his butt." Lloyd answered Jays question. "Jade, you don't need to be afraid of the guy getting to you. You're safe as long as we are around. I promise." He then reassured me. I smiled and hugged Lloyd. Zane and Jay put in a funny Disney movie to watch.
It's always so nice to have a brother with friends that will protect you. 😊

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

Daily life of a cultivation judge
Tired of those cultivators who think it is righteous to eliminate a sect or clan root and stem all in the name of revenge and avoiding future troubles, fights over treasures that end up destroying cities with no consequence whatsoever to the culprit, these psychos whose aim for the peak always involves a trail of carnage and bloodshed in its wake for some reason. Then look no further than the daily life of a cultivation judge. Yang Qing, is a young genius cultivator from a low-tier family whose only safe choice to get resources and hopefully lead an easy life led him to the courts of the Cultivation Order Society. Author’s disclaimer: Hey there this is my first novel so any criticism will be well taken though beware I’m a million-year-old monster who has cultivated the way of the sword to the peak. The daily life of a cultivation judge will be true to its name so it will be heavily on the slice of life lane with a bit of action here and there.Meaning we will see the life of Yang Qing when he clocks in and out. Hopefully, it will be one of those novels you read if you need to relax or are in a slacker mood like one of those otakus who listen to the noises of cicadas in the summer famously used in most animes. And it is in the slacker spirit that chapter release will be on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday. Sank yuuu Cover art by Conny Schneider on Unsplash
