《Brother of Wind {book 6: Skybound}》chapter 14

"It's Vengestone, remember?" Jay said as Cole jumped up to the bars that locked them in.
"You can't ghost through it, and your super-duper strength won't work anymore."
"Argh. Where's Morro. Where's Nya?!" Lloyd sighed.
"In a one on one chat with that Djinn." Jay said disgusted.
"If he lays one hand on her, I--"
"Don't worry, we won't let that happen." Lloyd reassured.
We better not, because if he takes her hand in marriage, he'll reach his True Potential, and we'll all be hooped when he has infinite wishes." Jay exclaimed.
"Infinite wishes? He'll be unstoppable." Cole exclaimed.
"But then his crew will be expendable." Lloyd suggested.
"Maybe we can convince them to--"
Already tried. They wouldn't believe me." Jay sighed.
"Thanks for trying to save me, but maybe it would've been better if you never came." Jay said.
"I hate the thought of her being alone with that silky-voiced-seducer--"
"I hate his voice too."
"WHAAA!!?!" The three in the dark cell screamed.
"Morro?!" Jay shouted, the Sage Ninja on top of the bars, looking down at them.
"Shut up." Morro said.
"Don't blow my cover. Yet." Morro sighed.
"Yet?" Lloyd asked.
"What, you got a plan?" Cole asked.
"Fifty percent."
"That's not a plan."
"Calm down." Lloyd shushed Cole.
"Between the four of us and Nya, we have thirteen wishes--"
"Wishes?!" Jay scream-whispered.
"Incase you forgot, wishes are what got us in this mess! Jay waved his arms.
"I- it's still fifty percent of a plan." Morro said as the Ninja looked back to him.
"Why don't we get Nya out and leave for the boat below?" Lloyd suggested.
"Where's Nya?" Morro asked.
"Probably in Nadakhan's creepy dining room." Jay said.
"Where's that?"
"Okay, nevermind." Lloyd placed a hand on his head.
"We couldn't do that anyways." Cole said.
"I left the poison in Nadakhan's room..."
The Ninja all stared at Cole in disbelief.
"Great, we have thirteen wishes and fifty percent of a plan." Jay sighed. Morro paused.
"Okay, seventy-five percent of a plan now." Morro said.
"You gonna tell us?" Cole asked. Morro shrugged.
"You gonna tell us?' Cole turned to Lloyd.
Lloyd stopped to think.
"What? That makes no sense!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"Okay, guess not." Jay said.
"Looks like we found a loiterer." A voice called. Morro stood up, turned around and raised his hands, a gun pointed at his face.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Was I not supposed to stand here?" Morro asked, a straight face dawned on his arsenal.
"Fr-- Morro!" Jay shouted from below. Morro banged his foot on the metal bars.
. . .
"
Please, indulge yourself." Nadakhan motioned to the table in front. And yes, Nya was in the creepy dining room.
"I lost my appetite. Never had much of a sweet tooth." Nya said, her eyes narrowing.
"Well, being stuck aboard a ship with filthy pirates, you learn to crave the finer things in life. In time, you will see." Nadakhan shrugged.
"In time, you will be sorry." Nya swore.
"I understand you don't like me. And Jay has made it crystal clear you think for yourself. Well, I like that." Nadakhan swerved around Nya.
"Let me offer you this: marry me, and I save your friends." Nadakhan lifted his hand.
"How am I expected to trust you when all you do is twist words around?" Nya leaned in her chair.

"I know." She started.
"Free them, then I'll think about it."
"I thought you might say that." Nadakhn said.
. . .
"Take them out of the hole. Prepare the plank." Nadakhan said to his crew. The Ninja slowly got out. Nya ran towards them.
"You wouldn't dare!" Nya shouted.
"I make the orders around here. The sooner you learn that, the smoother it will go." Nadakhn said. Nya saw Morro and her jaw dropped. Morro smiled and made a small wave. Nya made a sharp exhale.
"You hurt them and you can forget about any deal." Nya said.
"Then agree to marry me right now and it'll all be over." Nadakhan said.
"Nya, don't do it!" Cole shouted.
"It'll make him all powerful and--"
"The black one goes first." Nadakhan pushed Cole to the plank.
"I won't ask you again, Nya. Give me your hand, and they live." Nadakhan turned to the Water Ninja.
"I remind you, below us is nothing but ocean. And just what does water do?"
Cole was slowly inching towards the edge.
"Nya, you can't!" Lloyd shouted.
"I don't get it. We should be pushing her over. You said that all that matters is Djinjago, not her." Flintlock e said.
"Quiet, you hairy-lipped fool!" Nadakhan shouted. Nya looked at her friend again. Morro silently mouthed a few words. 'Not yet'.
"Or should there be one more walking that plank? Push him over." Nadakhan exclaimed.
"Wait! Don't I get any last words?" Cole shouted as Flintlocke raised his gun at him.
"Humor me." Nadakhan said.
"I wish…"
"Cole! Don't do it!" Jay shouted.
"You wish?" Nadakhan raised his attention.
"I wish Vengestone didn't stop our powers, but made them stronger!"
Nadakhan tilted his head.
"I can't believe it worked!" Cole shouted.
"If he's within earshot, he has to grant the wish!" Lloyd realized.
"Alright, ninety-five percent!" Morro shouted.
"What, still not a hundred?" Jay asked, sparking up his hands.
"Get them!" Nadakhan shouted to his crew. Cole used the plank as a springboard and grabbed his ball and chain now that his strength was back. Lloyd and Jay fired up their powers, backing up.
"I wish someone told me we were gonna use wishes!" Nya shouted after she judo-through Dogshank.
"Your wish is yours to keep."
"Careful not to waste wishes. That's two down, with eleven left." Lloyd counted. Jay zapped a chain of people.
"Remember the rules: you can't wish for love, death, or more wishes." Cole shouted as the Ninja regrouped.
"Or resurrection without the body." Morro added.
"Cole's wish has made our powers too strong. I can't control it!" Jay shouted. He… started to levitate. I dunno.
"No, I knew this was a bad idea but nobody listens!" He shouted.
"Morro do something!" Nya shouted.
"Me?!" Morro yelled.
"You said you had ninety-five percent of a plan!" Nya exclaimed.
"Not for this!" Morro yelled back, raising his hands. He was the only one not using his power.
"We have to break off the ball and chains!" Lloyd shouted.
"Okay then, duck!" Morro shouted. The Ninja obeyed and took a knee. Morro threw up his hands blasting away the crew as they all hit the wall. Cole got back up and immediately broke off the restraints.
"I have decided chains are the worst." Morro said.
"I ain't afraid to shoot you where you stand." Flintlocke took aim.

"I wish you were a lousy shot!" Lloyd shouted.
'I never miss." Flintlocke fired. His bullet barely touched anything but the ground.
"I said I never miss!" Flintlocke shouted to his captain. Nadakhan shrugged. Flintlocke fied more shots, one of them created a hole in a Raid Zeppelin, making it lose control.
"Stop firing, or else you're going to put a hole in all of us!" Nadakhan shouted.
"And would everyone stop wishing!?" Jay shouted. Nya elbowed an attacker.
"Nothing good is going to come of this." Jay sighed. Flintlocke shot one more. Into his foot.
The Ninja activated their Spinjitzu, knocking everyone back. Nadakhan grabbed the Sword of Souls and froze the ground, the emblem of the sword glowing white.
"That's not fair. He's fighting us with our friend's power." Cole shouted.
"Thank you, for the exposition Cole, I really had NO IDEA." Morro shouted. Cole tolled his eyes.
"I got it! I wish he didn't have that sword." Cole shouted as they slipped on ice.
The Sword flew out of the Djinn's hands. Morro grabbed a sword from one of the crew mates and threw it at the Sword of Souls, making it fly away from reach.
"Wow, that worked." Morro said.
"What the heck! That only delayed him getting it back!" Jay screamed as Nadakhan went after it.
"We can't just fire off wishes from the hip like this." Jay shouted, continuing to grow more angry.
"That's nine left. We have to be wiser what we wish for." Lloyd deduced.
"No, not wiser! Quieter! No. More. Wishes! Wh- why aren't you objecting to this?!" Jay shouted. Morro shrugged as he pushed himself with wind to go after the Sword.
Morro dived down and boosted himself to get a hold of the Sword and turned midair to strike Nadakhan back within earshot of Lloyd.
"Right on time! I wish I was wise like Wu!" Lloyd shouted. He closed his eyes. He opened them and suddenly knew how to skate.
"Oh, clever kids." Nadakhan said, turning back to Morro rising up with the Sword in his hands.
"Yeah, maybe we're overthinking this." Cole said.
"Hey, anyone wanna take this from me? I don't like holding it!" Morro shouted as he dodged attacks.
"Hold on. Why hasn't anyone just said, 'I wish us all out of here?'" Cole said.
"Oh, you fool." Nadakhan said. The ship started to tilt.
"We really need to start listening to me!" Jay screamed as he slid down the icy floor.
"Make it stop!" Flintlocke shouted.
"I can't. He's wished us all out of here." Nadakhan exclaimed.
Jay looked up and gasped.
"The venom!" He shouted. Morro looked up and lodged the Sword into the ice and planks.
"Jay!" Morro reached out his hand. Jay grabbed his ally's hand and Morro threw Jay up to catch the venom. Morro then grabbed Jay's hand as they hung.
"Guess what. One hundred percent of a plan now." Morro smirked.
"Gonna tell me?" Jay asked.
"You'll figure it out."
"I really wish you hadn't said that, Cole!" Nya shouted.
"I heard that. It's yours to keep." Nadakhan shouted. Nya has one wish left.
"And there's another one wasted. You really aren't very good at this." Jay chimed in.
"Hypocrite." Morro said to Jay.
"HOLD ON!" Lloyd shouted. He looked at his reflection in the ice.
"Ugh. I'm not just getting wiser. I'm getting older!" Lloyd exclaimed. The other Ninja looked to Morro.
"No, I'm perfectly fine!" Morro exclaimed.
"He wants you to wish it away. You can't!" Jay exclaimed, holding onto Morro's hand for dear life.
"I won't. None of us will!" Lloyd shouted, determination filling the air around him.
"Well, unless someone wishes something quick, we're all gonna fall. And don't look at me, I don't have any left!" Cole shouted. His and Nya's hands slipped. They shouted to fall.
"Then I wish those clouds would stop us!" Nya shouted. Cole and Nya fell onto the bouncy clouds and everyone followed. Morro landed softly.
"Would you look at that!" Jay smiled. By the way, he still had an eye patch on. Yeah. Also, Morro still has the Sword of Souls. Everyone started to tackle each other and use the bounce effect of the clouds to their advantage. It even made Morro drop the Sword so it went back to Nadakhan.
"Haha… great." Morro sighed.
Lloyd bounced down and barely got up.
"Lloyd, what's happening to you?" Nya asked the Green Ninja.
"Don't worry about me. Jay and I have one wish left, and I'm not gonna use it to save myself." Lloyd said.
"S-still have all three." Morro pointed out.
"But you'll continue to get decrepit!" Jay turned back to Lloyd.
"And you already sound like an old person. Let me use my last wish to save you, better yet, get Morro to do it!" Jay shouted, desperately.
"Jay, the wise thing to do is to save it. I see beyond the now. You'll need it." Lloyd said.
"Not even Morro's wishes will help."
The Ninja turned to Morro. He nodded. They figured out this was part of his plan.
"For when? When do I use my wish?" Jay asked.
"For when it's said from the heart." Lloyd said.
"Said from the heart? Hearts don't talk!" Jay cried.
"You think you can use your wishes to stop me?!" Nadakhan shouted, making Ho's presence known.
"I wish for a sword!" Lloyd shouted, a blade appearing in his hand. Nadakhan pushed the Sword of Souls into a sword lock.
"Mine won't stop you." Morro started.
"But others will." Lloyd continued.
"JUST NOT TODAY!" The brothers both grabbed the sword Lloyd wished into existence and stabbed the cloud. Nya and Jay fell off the cloud.
"Nya! Jay!" Cole shouted.
"Don't worry. Together, those two will save us all!" Lloyd reassured.
"Nya!" Jay shouted.
"We have to create our Dragons!" Nya exclaimed.
"I don't have enough energy! I'm not strong enough!" Jay cried.
"Then we'll be strong together. Reach for my hand!" Nya shouted. They couldn't join. "The boat. We need to at least get to the boat!" Nya pleaded.
Morro leaned over the edge.
"I wish for the safety of the current elemental masters of lighting and water!" Morro shouted.
As if some force of wind pushed them, Jay and Nya joined hands. It was like Jay was full of energy all of the sudden. Lighting and water coiled around the two, and wings sprouted. A Hydroelectric dragon was formed.
"Ha! It's two Dragons in one!" Jay smiled at Nya as they rode together.
"I guess water and electricity do mix." Nya smiled.
"Why would you do that? You wasted a wish." Cole shouted at the brothers. Morro stood up tall and looked at Cole. The Black Ninja got a feeling it was meant to be that way. Lloyd stood and gave a look that Jay's wish was the most important of all.
"We've made our three wishes, Nadakhan. You can't control us!" Lloyd shouted as Morro carefully stepped aside.
"You're right. I can't make you wish it all away. But I can make him!" Nadakhan pointed to Clancee. Morro grinned at this decision.
"You never made your wishes, Clancee. Wish these two away for me. Do it!" Nadakhan pressured.
"Oh, I don't know, c-cap--"
"Do it! Or I will cast you away!!"
"Oh! I w-w-w-wish…"
"Do. It. Now!"
"I- w-w-wish them away!!" Clancee shouted, pointing at the Ninja. Lloyd lowered his head. Cole started to shine and got absorbed in Nadakhan's sword. Lloyd was next. Morro slammed his hands down, the clouds came up, making a smoke screen of fluff. Morro sped off out of where Clancee was pointing. Lloyd and Cole were gone.
"I only got two. Where's the third?!" Nadakhan shouted, raising his sword. The whole crew turned around at the wind of a Ninja behind them, smirking.
"HOW DID YOU ESCAPE?!" Nadakhan shouted.
"I just got out of the way of where he pointed." Morro smirked.
"You're annoying." Nadakhan stated.
"That's my job."
Nadakhan was infuriated, raising the Sword of Souls.
"I only made one wish. Don't you want to hear the others?" Morro asked. This intrigued Nadakhan, he lowered the blade.
"An honest one, are you?" Nadakhan said.
"What could you wish for? Maybe to see someone, perhaps?" Nadakhan asked, drifting around Morro, passing by the cloth on his arm. Morro sharply pulled away.
He fidgeted with his hand still at his side. Morro thought about it, staring at the clouds.
"Ah, okay." Morro sighed.
"I wish to know where my powers came from."
Nadakhan was shocked by the sudden reply.
"Your wish is yours to keep." Nadakhan bowed. For a moment nothing happened.
Morro gasped and stepped back. He wiped his face, opening and closing his hand as Morro stared at it. It was so quick like a strike of lightning from a storm.
"What was that?" Morro asked.
"What was that? What was that, what did I see?!" Morro shouted. Nadakhan shrugged.
"Where your power came from." He said.
"And your last wish?" Nadakhan quickly said.
"I--..." Morro hugged himself. That wasn't any answer. What was that? Questions for later, just keep going. It's almost done.
Morro took a deep breath and whispered five words.
"I wish to see…" that last word was too hard to hear.
"Your wish is yours to keep."
Morro looked around. He knew this place.
"Why are we here?" Morro asked. A rock cave.
"Ahh!" A kid's shout from the left. Morro turned there. His eyes widened.
"You said you wanted to see him, you never said in person, right now, or the circumstances." Nadakhan said.
Morro tried to touch the stone that surrounded him.
"There's a barrier." Nadakhan said. Morro understood. They're back in time, but there's a barrier keeping him from interacting with the world so it would play out the same.
The kid in front of Morro rubbed his head. He stared from where he lost his balance and fell down, the entrance being blocked off. No shoes, gray shirt, red scarf. It's Neran.
Neran wandered around the cave.
"That's what I get for being curious." Neran said to himself.
Morro stood there, watching the kid walk around the space. He looked back at the blocked off entrance.
"That's going to bring in smoke." Morro said. Then the scene shifted forwards. Black smoke all over the air. Morro heard coughing. He turned around to see Neran on the ground, hands on his mouth. He was suffocating.
Morro stood there. He couldn't do anything. This was just a memory of the past.
Neran spotted a fabric in the corner of the space.
"Morro's?" Neran asked, finding the belt. The geyser in the center of the cave flared up, embers flying around the air, catching onto Neran's clothes. The Wind Ninja shut his eyes as Neran kept coughing. Soon it stopped. Morro looked down at Neran on the ground, eyes closed, not moving. The glowing embers on his scarf seemed to never go out.
The Ninja didn't say a word. Nadakhan brought him back to the Misfortune's keep.
"Seeing that must have hurt. Too bad that was your last wish. You can't wish it all away." Nadakhan crossed his arms.
"Neither can you."
Attention was all on Morro.
"What?" Nadakhan asked sharply.
"I used my last wish. You can't trick me into wishing it all away." Morro looked at Nadakhan.
"So. Either you spend a day being torchured by my sarcasm, or you risk your resources.
Nadakhan felt his eyes twitch. This… This Ninja. This Ninja planned for this?! To make sure it would halt Nadakhan with a great decision. This certainly put a stop to Nadakhan's immediate train of thought.
"Choose carefully. You never know when you might wanna make tools out of your crew." Morro said, narrowing his gaze. The crew stopped and murmured among themselves. Nadakhan had enough.
"Wish him away."
And with four words from Clancee, Morro was wished away. But that didn't get rid of the question that if Nadakhan didn't, he could use Clancee's wishes. More of them. Now there's only one left to use and one left to stop.
"You're not coming with me unless you get the girl back. Now go!" Nadakhan shouted and his crew scattered.
"And make sure no harm comes to her, or it'll come back to you tenfold!"
Jay and Nya made it safely to the police unit's boat.
"Where's the others?" The Commissioner asked.
"... Gone. Probably." Jay hesitantly said. He looked up and an explosive barrel started to fall.
"No!!" Jay shouted. He blasted the barrel and Nya raised a barrier of water to shield everyone.
"Aye, aye, Captain! A pirate's promise. No harm will come to her. A pirate's promise." Flintlocke said in a plane, ready to target Nya.
"Huh?"
A sparking dragon flew into the air, Nya and Jay mounted on it.
"Fire!" The Commissioner shouted. His force attacked the air fleet after the Ninja.
"Aah! Ninja!" Flintlocke cursed at the group who attacked him.
