《Brother of Wind {book 6: Skybound}》chapter 15

The Police set up a brigade of cars, on the defense of Ninjago City. One got blasted up and almost hit two officers.
"Where are they? I don't see them!" One officer, Simon exclaimed.
"Don't freak out on me now, partner." The other, Tommy said.
"We have to protect the girl!" He exclaimed. Two sky pirates dropped down from the sky, disarming the police.
"Run!" Tommy shouted to the others. They all retreated to the precinct as more cars exploded.
"They're here. Get those two out of here." Tommy shouted to the Commissioner.
"All right. Hold them back as long as you can." The Commissioner saluted and ran off to meet the last two Ninja.
"We can't defend you any longer." The Commissioner said.
"What?! We barely made a plan!!" Nya said.
"Did you find a safe house?" The Commissioner asked. Jay nodded.
"Yeah, it's--"
"No, no, no. Don't tell me." The Commissioner interrupted.
"No one can know but you." He opened a latch on the floor for the two.
"Listen, Jay, if Nadakhan finds and marries Nya, he'll have infinite wishes. Protect her." The Commissioner said.
"I promise to. With my life." Jay said, placing his hand on his chest.
"It's also weird that he wants to marry you, isn't he from Soto's time? Like, a hundred years in the pas--"
"Jay." Nya said.
"I appreciate the macho sentiment, but may I remind you that I can look after my--"
A ton of officers flipped down on the ground in front of the doorway.
"There isn't any time. Go, ninja. Go!" The Commissioner waved them off. They went down the latch and left. The Commissioner ate the map the Ninja were looking at.
"And what do you think you're doing?" Nadakhan entered the room.
"You're too late, Nadakhan. Ugh, that was a big map." The Commissioner said.
"Hey, look." Flintlocke opened a latch on the floor.
"They got away, Captain." He said.
"You'll never find them." The Commissioner said.
"Oh, I have my ways. Take him prisoner! Take them all! And find me that girl!" Nadakhan shouted.
. . .
Jay was rowing a boat non-stop over the endless sea.
"Please let me take a turn." Nya offered.
"If this is our way of traveling with a low profile, the least I can do is help row." She held out her hand.
"No, no. I won't hear of it. You saved me last time. This time, let me take care of you." Jay denied Nya's fifteenth offer. "Besides, a gentleman would never let a lady row." Jay turned his head.
"Oh, look, we're almost there." He pointed.
That tall brick tower on a small island of rocks.
"The lighthouse where Zane's father was held prisoner. Haven't been here for a while." Nya sighed.
"Yeah, let them search all of Ninjago. They'll never find us way out here!" Jay exclaimed through gasps.
"Whoa!" The boat was launched forwards and they sped across the water. Nya had her hand just above the surface, propelling the water to make them go faster.
"You said I couldn't row. I'm not rowing." She smirked.
The boat docked and they were in for a stair climb.
Jay and Nya had a few things pack in a bag. With the small time they had to prepare, they did get a lot done.

"Uh, actually, it's a nice little resort." Jay said, looking around at the gear covered walls.
"Vacant for years, yet not a sign of dust." He sighed, sitting down at the table.
He emptied his duffel bag. Tai-D, the littler service droid, came out to clean up.
"Oh, I forgot Zane's father liked his toys." Nya smiled at the small bot placing all the items in the bag.
"Let's see what kind of supplies we have." She said,
"Enough food for a week. Change of clothes. The vial of poison Nadakhan doesn't know we have. And finally, one teapot of Traveler's Tea." Jay pulled out the ceramic.
"But only just in case all else fails." Jay said.
"You wanna go over the plan again?" Nya asked.
"Okay. If Nadakhan shows up, we shoot him with the poison, then when he can't use his magic, I say my last wish to save Ninjago." Jay said. He laughed.
"Barely a plan, Nya? Is that what I heard you say?" Jay smirked.
"Okay, that was on impulse. We do have a pretty cool plan." Nya said.
Jay sighed.
"A wish Lloyd told me is said from my heart, a heart that has no clue what it could be, but if said incorrectly, could likely make everything ten times worse." Jay waved his hands in the air.
"You'll think of it. You always do." Nya smiled.
. . .
"You can threaten us all you want, Nadakhan, but it'll do you no good." The Commissioner and his officers were captured and taken back to the Misfortune's keep.
"We don't know where they are. And I must warn you, I'm a blue ribbon swimmer. Won three straight championships in my heyday." The Commissioner aggressively pointed at Nadakhan.
"But are they good swimmers?" Nadakhan pointed at the detectives with the Sword of Souls.
"Choose who goes first."
"I-I...I can't. They're both like sons to me." The Commissioner stuttered.
"Well, then, I'll take both of them." Nadakhan raised his sword.
"All right, all right, all right. To heck with Tommy. I never liked him anyway." The Commissioner waved his hand.
"Me? Simon was the one who nearly spilled the intel on the Tiger Widow venom--" Tommy stopped in his tracks.
"Uh...forget I said that."
The Djinn's eyes widened.
"That's why I don't like you, Tommy." The Commissioner said.
"Tiger Widow venom? You mean that poison that can hurt the captain? But you said you d-d-dumped it out." Clancee said.
"So the ninja still have it?" Nadakhan turned around to think.
"I'm not gonna say another word." Tommy said, looking at the water below.
"Except for...geronimo!" He jumped down.
"Geronimo!" The Commissioner followed.
"Geronimo!" Simon jumped. They all landes in the water as the pirates stared below.
"Look on the bright side. They still don't know where to look." Simon said, trending water.
"Bright side? They've stranded us in the middle of the forsaken ocean." Tommy said.
"Don't worry, boys. Blue ribbon swimmer." The Commissioner said.
"Except that we have company." Tommy pointed to gray fins swirling around them.
"I know. I know. I'm not blind." The Commissioner said.
"But your eye is twitching." Tommy pointed out.

"So they do have the poison. What possibly for?" Nadakhan asked himself.
"Are they trying to set up a trap? Ugh. That Wind Ninja still sets me back, I could've interrogated him.for their plans."
"All the more reason to stick with our plan." Flintelocke said.
"This nonsense with the girl, it was never supposed to be about her. When we started this journey, it was about making a home for us. Well, you're strong enough now, and you've done that." Flintlocke said, his crewmates behind him.
"You gave us Djinjago. We control the skies. We've won, Nadakhan." The Pirates cheered.
"But when will it be enough?"
"Enough!?" Nadakhan drew his sword to shut the scene.
"It will never be enough! You ungrateful ingrates. Before you met me, you all were nothing. I granted your wishes, I took you in, I made you the most feared pirates that have ever roamed the seas." Nadakhan was on the point of breaking. Oh my.
"So I promise you this: those who help me complete the Djinn marriage ceremony will receive everything they have ever dreamed of." Nadakhan promised.
"But how can we trust you? With the power of infinite wishes, it's just as easy to get rid of us." Flintlocke accused.
"What are you accusing me of?" Nadakhan asked.
"I guess what I'm getting around to is...consider this a mutiny." Flintlocke pointed his gun at the Captain.
"Oh. I see you've forgotten. You can't shoot straight." Nadakhan smirked.
"Now stop right there. I'm not joking." Flintlocke warned as Nadakhan approached.
"Go ahead, let's see what kind of aim you have at point-blank."
Flintlocke pulled the trigger, and everyone gasped as he missed every shot. Nadakhan swung his sword and knocked the gun out of Flintlocke's hands.
"Does anyone else have the stupidity to stand up to me?" Nadakhan asked. The crew shook their heads in fear.
"I thought so. Give him the mop, Clancee. You're no longer the bottom rung."
. . .
"Okay, here's a crazy one." Nya pointed.
"What if you wish to resurrect the Devourer? Then we sic it on Nadakhan?" She suggested.
"No, uh-uh. Can't do that either. Can't wish to do harm, can't wish for more wishes, or resurrection without the body. And you can't wish for...hehe, love." Jay said.
"Which is how I got us into this mess." He got back on track.
A small gaze fell upon them, little enough to be unnoticeable.
"All due to just one little glimpse into the future showing us together." Jay sighed.
"Our friends, gone. Our world, torn apart. Look at us. This is all my fault." Jay said.
"Jay…" Nya looked to Tai-D who was by the latch to the stairs.
"I guess we really do end up together, just not how I'd envisioned it." Jay said.
"Stop."
"I know, I know. You don't want to hear it."
"No, I mean stop talking." Nya held up her hand.
"Did you hear that? I don't think we're alone." Nya looked back to Tai-D.
"We're not the only ones here!" She said as a figure ran down the wooden steps.
"Ugh. You mean I've been exposing my innermost feelings in front of a complete stranger? Ugh! I feel so violated." Jay exclaimed.
"They won't be a stranger after we get to know them. Hurry." Nya jumped down to run.
"The door's barricaded. No one could've escaped. We've been locked up so long, I think you're starting to see things." Jay said. They heard a bang. Tai-D picked up a gear and moved to the wall.
"Like how I'm seeing there's a hidden basement in the lighthouse?" Nya asked. She pulled a switch, opening the wall.
They entered it.
"Looks like a bunch of stuff from Zane's father's old lab." Nya looked around at the blueprints and shelves of machine parts. A box tumbled over and parts spilled out.
"You're right, we're not alone!" Jay his behind Nya.
"I thought you were supposed to protect me." She raised a brow.
"I thought you were over that!"
"Whoever you are, come out!" Nya exclaimed.
"I am Zane. Built to protect those who cannot protect themselves." A mechanical voice said from a copper host.
"Zane?" Jay stepped forwards. This Zane was more faded and rusted than Zane. Like and Echo.
"Oh! When Zane's father was trapped here, he must've built a replacement Zane." Jay deduced.
"Great, another knight in rusted armor." Nya sighed.
"Rusted, maybe. But can he still protect?" Jay suggested. Echo demonstrated some fighting moves before falling on his back.
"Built to protect what? Itself?" Nya asked. Tai-D squeaked in defence of Echo.
"Who knows? But if the two of us can't figure out my wish, maybe a new perspective might help." Jay suggested, awkwardly smiling at Nya.
. . .
"Did you see her?" Nadakhan asked Doubloon who had just returned. He shook his head.
"Ugh! You brocket! Where is she?" Nadakhan pondered. He got an idea. But what if they would need it later? Is this the best time to ask?
"Clancee, my dear boy…" Nadakhan turned to the Serpentine.
"Uh, yes, Captain?" Clancee replied.
"It just occurred to me that you still have one wish left." Nadakhan said.
"B-But, uh, Clancee doesn't need wishes. Clancee's just happy how he is." Clancee said.
"Tell me where she is. Wish it, or you'll wish you had." Nadakhan threatened.
"B--b-b-b-but...Captain! What if you need it later for something more important?" Clancee asked. Nadakhan glared at him.
"Oh, I wish...I wish...I wish I could see where she is right now." Clancee covered his eyes. Through some glass, the image of Jay and Nya appeared.
Echo had been showing off a few of his skills while Jay and Nya clapped. Echo ran up the wall and onto the roof, just before catching a glimpse of Nadakhan's image in a mirror.
Echo gasped.
"Who's that?" He pointed and fell down. Jay and Nya turn back.
"Break the mirror, before they know where we are!" Jay cried. Echo brought out a silver shuriken in his arsenal and threw it at the mirror, shattering the glass.
"Well, I've sailed enough seas to know that was the Red Kelp of the West Apostle Current." Nadakhan said as the images faded.
"Drop sails and cocker the cannons, crew. I know where they are." He commanded.
