《Brother of Wind {book 6: Skybound}》chapter 2

"Ugh. They found us. Now what do we do?" Cole asked as helicopters flew around.
"Just do what you're doing, but don't run away from the cameras. Run toward them!" Dareth shouted.
"Ninja visit hospital. This is gold!"
"The last thing we all need is more publicity! This is just irritating!" Morro shouted.
"We need to get to Stiix!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"Could be a big scoop. Say no more. Hop in!" Dareth called.
. . .
Stiix was damaged. In a short period of time, despite people's best efforts, it's a junkyard now. Few people still lived in this place.
"No... No. No." Clouse searched through the piles. He looked to high right. A lamp. A teapot. He grabbed it.
"Yes..." He ran in to get some shelter.
"The Teapot of Tyrahn." Clouse said. He rubbed his hand on the teapot.
"Work, darn you." He found markings on the pot and lined it up. And orange flash, followed by smoke flew out. Clouse stepped back.
"I am... Free?" The entity within the smoke said. Floating, orange, four arms. (Original.) And... Pirate armour?
"Where am I? What year is it?" He asked.
"Nadakhan. It's you. I've freed a genie." Clouse exclaimed.
"I prefer the term Djinn." Nadakhan replied.
"Who cares? I want my three wishes." Clouse demands.
"Mm. I must warn you. You cannot wish for love, death, and most certainly..." Nadakhan said.
"More wishes. Yes, yes, I know the rules. Ahem." Clouse cleared his throat.
"I wish for my Book of Spells."
Very well. Your wish is yours to keep." Nadakhan bowed. The book poofed into the room in the corner. Clouse ran to hold it.
Tricked you. Now, with my spells, who needs more wishes?" The pages started to flare up in embers.
"Oh. What's happening?" Clouse dropped the book.
"You should've known. The book was last thrown into a fire. Perhaps you should wish for more than a pile of ash." Nadakahn hovered over to him.
"You conniving genie." Clouse said.
"Djinn." Nadakhan insisted.
"And for your second wish?"
There's no way I can defeat those ninja if I continue to be a ghost." Clouse schemed.
"I wish...I wish to become mortal again."
"Your wish is yours to keep."
Slowly, Clouse's hands started to become solid.
"Yes. Yes, it's working. I can-I can feel again." He paused.
"My hands! My head! The pain!" He screamed in pain.
Yes. Becoming physical is a painful process." Nadakhan hovered over a fallen Clouse.
I wish it could be over soon, but right now, you're probably thinking about your last wish. But the pain is too unbearable to think clearly. Wish it all to go away." Nadakhan pressured. With all that pain and those words the last thing you hear? It'd be ringing in your head too.
I-I wish it all to go away!" Clouse shouted.
"Your wish is yours to keep."
Clouse was lifted in the air and pulled into the teapot of Tryrahn.
"Be careful what you wish for." Nadakhan picked up the teapot.
. . .
Zane scanned the area. With a short wardrobe change, the Ninja were out of their gis and scouting out Stiix.
"I detected no trace of Clouse." Pixal informed Zane.
"He isn't here." Zane told the others.

"He could be long gone by now." Cole said.
"But look what I found. A Kai action figure." Kai held up the doll.
"Some fan probably lost it. No way anyone threw this out. Practically priceless." Kai gloated.
"No sign of Clouse." Lloyd said through coms.
"Better keep looking. Wu's at the Domu Library researching what Clouse could be looking for." Misako replied.
"If I hear anything, you'll be the first to know."
Cole played with the doll when Kai snatched it back. Lloyd look to Morro. He shook his head.
"We still don't know if he's here, stay a while and search." Morro told the team.
"Look, another Kai doll." Jay pointed. The looked down.
"There's dozens."
. . .
Nadakhan had disguised himself as a human to walk around and attract less attention. "Watch where you're going. Ha! Nice hair, bozo." A by passer exclaimed. Well, as less attention as he can get.
"You look lost. Can I be of assistance?" Cyrus Borg on Infovision asked from a screen in a park center.
"Hmm. Are you trapped too?" Nadakhan asked the screen.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand your query. You are talking to Infovision. Ask a question, and maybe I can answer it." Infovision said.
Where is my crew?" Nadakhan asked.
"You'll have to be more specific." Infovison said.
"The crew of Misfortune's keep." Nadakhan said.
"Misfortune's Keep. The most feared pirate ship that ruled the high seas, taken down by Captain Soto and his Destiny's Bounty at the end of the era of the Stone Warrior." Infovision displayed. "The Misfortune's captain, Nadakhan the Djinn, with power to grant others wishes, was trapped in the Teapot of Tyrahn, while his crew was later marooned in separate realms."
"Separate realms?"
"After the ninja discovered the Realm Crystal in the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master, it is common knowledge the Ninjago is one of sixteen realms—" Infovision cut off.
"Which realm is Delara in?" Nadakhan demanded to know.
"No known image of Delara, quartermaster of Misfortune's Keep and love of Nadakhan the Djinn, died shortly after Nadakhan's imprisonment." Infovision imormed.
"Died?" Nadakhan gasped.
"Die: to expire, to croak, or to tint." Defined.
"Where is this Realm Crystal?" Nadakahn asked.
"Location is classified. Since realm crossing is prohibited, it is under the protection of Sensei Wu and the Masters of Spinjitzu." Infovision said.
"Then tell me how to find them."
. . .
"Uh, no sign of Clouse?" Lloyd asked the others as they sat at a table.
"I don't get it. You'd think they'd remember seeing another ghost." Cole rested his head on the table.
"I know. I haven't even been asked to give a single autograph." Kai said.
"Not that I want the attention!" Kai exclaimed. The other people around shushed him.
"Where are the ninja? This reporter has the answer." The news exclaimed.
"Hey, can you turn it up?" Lloyd asked.
"Hey. No one here cares for them fruit-coloured ninja." A man said.
"Excuse me. What fruit is black?" Cole slammed his hands on the table.
"Uh, blackberries?" Jay asked.
"Shut it, Jay!" Cole shot.
"Aren't blackberries purple?" Morro asked.
"Oh, well what is your colour supposed to be then?" Jay asked.
"Jay, my colour is a literal plant." Morro replies.
"They're calling it the Crime Wave of the Century." News reported.
"Guys, listen." Nya pointed.

"Earlier today, Green Ninja Lloyd Garmadon was caught on tape robbing the city bank." The image of Lloyd showed on screen.
The ninja gasped.
"Whoa! That looks like, um, me!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"And that's not all. At Mega Monster Amusement Park, Zane was on a rampage of vandalism and mayhem." The image of Zane wrecking the park.
"Hey, wait. My memory has no recollection of that." Zane cried.
"Someone's pretending to be us." Jay said.
"But why?" Nya asked.
"And how?" Cole asked.
"It's an obvious frame. Someone wants us away." Morro placed his hand over his mouth.
"Any comment about your son's offenses?"
"Jay would never do this. And if he did, he had good reason. I hope." Ed said as he pushed Edna away from the camera.
"You hope? It wasn't me, Dad! It wasn't me!" Jay shouted.
"Jay, shh." Cole chided.
"You believe them? They destroyed our village, act like they saved the place, and then go around doing as they please." A man scoffed.
Morro covered his face more.
"Hey, it's not your fault." Nya said.
"You could say it is." Morro said.
"No, it's not." Lloyd said.
"From a certain point of view, it really is my fault." Morro added.
"Yeah. You're right. Ninja, ugh, hate 'em." Kai said in a deeper voice out loud.
"Maybe now is a good time to leave." He whispered.
"The Ninja are at large. They are armed and dangerous. And they have legs. If you see them, do not approach. Call local law enforcement so that we can apprehend." The police commissioner announced.
"Hello, local law enforcement?" Zane started. "We are the--"
"Zane, stop, stop!!" Morro pushed Zane's hand away from his ear.
"I am programmed to obey the law. Not telling them our location would be a direct violation." Zane said.
"Hey, aren't you—" a man got up and looked at the group of teens.
"No, no. We're not the ninja. We're that other group with a Nindroid, a ghost, a girl—" Jay said as the ninja got up and started to step back.
"Okay, seven on six. Not that bad. As long as someone stays out." Kai said.
"We're not gonna fight them. Right now, it's us who look like the bad guys." Lloyd exclaimed.
"How are we supposed to defend ourselves? Witty banter?" Jay asked. The people started to chase the Ninja.
"Statistically speaking, your witty banter tends to only get us into more trouble." Zane said.
"I liked it better when they were fans." Kai said.
"Neither life styles I like." Morro said.
The Ninja turned the corner. Morro stopped everyone from going further. The police were on the scene.
"That's great." Morro sighed. Lloyd nudged him. A ladder. The Ninja climbed up to the roof, two crowds coming after them. Cole threw the ladder off, so no one could follow.
Then they reached a large gap. Lloyd jumped and used Airjitzu, followed by Morro, Zane, Kai and Cole. Jay stayed back. Nya hesitated. Jay reached out his hand.
Nya stepped back. Jay gently held Nya's hand and they jumped together. The blue shell of Jay's Airjitzu surrounded them. They made it to the other side.
"Thanks." Nya said.
"I've got a visual." And officer looked at the Ninja running on the roof.
"There's no time. Come on!" Jay exclaimed. They had to jump down to the sea level.
"There's nowhere to hide." Cole exclaimed.
"There may be one place." Kai said.
"Ninja-go!!" Kai used his Spinjitzu to make a hole in the floor boards, the Ninja following. Out of sight they went.
"Lloyd, contact your mom! We need someone to know we're here. Presumably someone who doesn't want us dead." Morro said.
"Right!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"Mom, we're in a bit of a jam." Lloyd said through his communicator.
"I saw the news and I'm en route. Looks like you've gone from fame to framed." Misako said on the other end.
"And we'll never find out who did this to us unless we get out of here." Lloyd said.
"I can hear them over here."
"Someone get on those cranes! Let's find those ninja!"
"I think I saw one right below us." The chatter of the police and people from above deck. The cranes dropped down through the boards, making an opening. The Ninja avoided the lights of the police to stay hidden.
"Crane three. Down. Now."
Another crane smashed.
"Ten feet east. Now!" Another smash.
"Did we get them?" The people asked.
"Can you see them?" The looked below the crash. The Ninja managed to get on the crane and stay out of sight in the air.
"Look!" Cole pointed. The Bounty flew through the air and towards Stiix, piloted by Misako.
"Ha! Home, sweet home!" Kai exclaimed.
"No! Why would she bring the Bounty?!" Morro panicked.
"Take her down!" The police shouted. The people threw hooks around the Bounty, restraining it down.
"Oh, no. Ugh!" Misako shouted, trying to fly free. And the Bounty was down.
"Lower all the cranes and check them out! Those fruit-colored bozos could be hiding anywhere." The Commissioner commanded.
"Tch. Our last choice is to split apart." Morro said.
"Split up? But we're all in this together." Cole waved his hand around.
"We'll probably have a better chance of getting out of here if we divide." Lloyd said.
"Nothing good comes when we're split up." Jay reasoned.
"That's when bad things happen. Chen's Island, Yang's Temple, Morro's encounter!" Jay listed.
"All bad things!" He desperately tried to get them to all stay together.
"You have any plan then?" Morro asked. Jay didn't reply.
"Then, we split up. No objections. Until we can all find a way to safely travel, and I'll work on it, but until then, we split." Morro forcefully commanded. The Ninja didn't argue. Morro was best at making plans, if anyone had one, it's him. They nodded.
"Now!" They all exclaimed as the crane they were one started to descend.
"This one's empty, sir." An officer reported despite looking on almost all the cranes.
"I hate them fruit-coloured ninja." A man scowled.
"We didn't catch the ninja, Commissioner." An officer reported.
"We will. Oh, we will." The Commissioner said.
. . .
Wu opened a book. The flipped to a page with a Djin.
"Be careful what you wish for." Wu read.
"Hmm."
A flash of orange smoke.
"Did someone say wish?" Nadakahn had appeared behind Wu as if the word "wish" called him.
