《Brother of Wind {book 6: Skybound}》Chapter One

"Hueeeee ya!! Ah YA!!!!"

Blue lights shone around a tea pot. In the reflection. A ninja. The Blue Ninja, Jay. He ducked as an attack from a Skulkin aimed for his head. Jay pulled out his nunchucks, twirling them around his arms then swinging the weapon to fight. More enemies closed in.

Jay twisted the handle of the tea pot and one pannle of the wall turned red and flipped around.

"Ninja-go!!" The Red Ninja, Kai jumped down, spinning around creating his Spinjitzu tornado. One Skulkin dropped down to the bottomed floor, a white glow emitting behind glass. The Skulkin ran to the wall. Glowing green hands poked through.

Cole, the Black Ninja jumped through the wall, utilizing his ghost body to cut corners and stop the Skulkin. They turned to run away but were stopped but the shattering glass of Zane, the White Ninja. Kai and Jay jumped down to meet them.

And a new chapter of the story started.

Cole raised his hands and slammed them on the floor creating a green glow around the floor. Using his possession powers and element of earth, Cole shook the ground and threw all the enemies off their balance. The four boys gathers as the opposite wall shook. Through a crash, Samukai, the general of the Skulkin army. Four arms extended each equipped with daggers he charged at the four Ninja.

From the sky, a green light! And the Green Ninja Lloyd jumped down. Lloyd surrounded his body with his energy, blasting it forwards as he hit the ground, sending Samukai flying back.

"Do you have the golden scroll, Lloyd?" Kai asked as the four others met up.

"I sure do, Kai!" Lloyd exclaimed, pulling out a scroll.

"But I don't know what it says! Can anyone help me read it?" He asked in a voice that was like he was talking to a child.

"We can!" The ninja stepped forwards in a line.

"Because reading is the first step to every adventure!"

"Go reading, go!!"

"Aaaand cut!" Dareth shouted, jumping out of the dark.

"Brilliant! Especially since Morro wasn't here. Eh- where is he, by the way?" Dareth asked. They all looked to Lloyd. Morro and Lloyd were brothers, and recently were connected by a wisteria link, that tied their thoughts and emotions together.

It was hard living this way. Emotionally, Morro wasn't doing the best.

"Uhhhh." Lloyd said.

"No." He decided to reply.

"Oh well, great as always!" Dareth exclaimed.

"Clean up, little fellas, and make some headway here. That's a wrap!" Dareth shouted to a TV crew.

"A wrap?" Nya, previously a samurai now a Water Ninja, asked.

"I just got here. Dareth said--"

"Hey, hey! There's my boys! I knew you could Spinjitzu but that acting knocked me out." Dareth walked past Nya and talked right to the boys.

"Oh, hey, sweetheart. Mind sticking around for a segment to teach girls how to apply makeup?" Dareth noticed Nya and asked. This was just insulting. Nya may be a girl, but she's just as strong, maybe stronger than the boys.

"You're gonna need makeup when I rearrange your face!" Nya shouted, raising her fist. Jay pulled her back.

"Easy! Nya is one of us now, there's no reason she should be treated differently." Jay exclaimed.

"No reason? You added a girl to the group. You know how much that hurts your image? You're a boy band, a hunk machine!" Dareth said.

"Come on! Just because Nya is a girl doesn't mean she ruined us! She's our equal! Hey- what if Morro was a girl? Would that change anything?" Lloyd asked.

"No. Because Morro's not a girl." Dareth replied. The Ninja exchanged glances.

"No-- Hypotheta-- never mind. What I mean is that none of us are more important than the others!" Lloyd exclaimed.

"Important? No. Irresistible... uh, debatable." Kai winked at fan girls by the studio doors. They screamed and acted pretty much how we would if we were in this world.

"I don't tell you how to do your business, don't tell me how to do mine." Dareth said.

"Remember how every time you save Ninjago no one cared? Well, now Dareth's in charge and Dareth says don't change the recipe. You boys are the face of the franchise, and now the face of Teen Idol!" He handed a magazine to the boys.

"Sensei Lloyd?" The green ninja read the headline.

"But I'm only a Sensei in training!" He waved.

"And what's this about me and Jay still fighting over Nya?" Cole asked pointing on the cover.

"That's old news."

"Who cares if it's real or not? Isn't this what you've always dreamed of? You're the hottest thing in Ninjago!" Dareth shouted in glee.

. . .

Morro sat on his bed. With rising fame, brings attention. And this ninja is an introvert. He can't even go the the library without being surrounded. Morro looked at his side table. A tea bag on top of a folded green cloth.

He sighed and grabbed the green cloth. Holding one corner in his mouth, Morro tied the cloth around his right arm. He walked out to the deck of the bounty and leaned over the edge.

"I hear screaming, are they being chased?" Morro asked as Wu, his father and master walked out on the deck.

"Possibly. It's also nice to see you outside." Wu said. Morro nodded and turned around.

"Oh, guess what, tired teenagers incoming." Morro said.

Six Airjitzu tornados flew up and landed on the deck.

"Welcome home." Morro said.

"Yep. Great to be here." Cole said.

"If you have the energy, Cole." Wu said. The ghost nodded and walked below deck, Wu following.

"Zane, pull out the chess! I need to clear my head." Jay shouted. Morro looked to Lloyd.

"Going to sleep. Don't talk to me." Lloyd said, walking below deck.

"Mood." Morro replied.

Nya stormed past up to the bridge. Morro looked to Zane setting up chess.

"Multiple things. But... Mostly sexism." Zane nodded.

"Ah, got it." Morro acknowledged. He walked to the bridge.

"So, was it the news or was it something else?" Morro asked.

"Both." Nya said, surveilling the city.

"What was the other thing?" Morro asked.

"Dareth said I ruined the Ninja because I joined." Nya said.

"Because I'm a girl."

"Then Lloyd said: what if Morro was a girl, would that change things? Then Dareth responded by: but he's not." Nya said.

"Okay, and what if I was?" Morro asked.

"That's what Lloyd said, and I just--" Nya trailed off.

"Feel like you're just a character made for Jay and Cole's character development." Morro finished. Nya ran her hand threw her hair.

"The interviewer asked about romance again." Nya sighed.

"Wanna hit something?" Morro asked.

"THEY ASKED ABOUT ROMANCE AGAIN!" Jay exclaimed, moving his bishop.

"I saw the news." Zane said, moving his knight.

"How do I respond to that? I mean..." Jay sighed.

"Check mate." Zane said.

"WHAT?!" Jay jumped and studied the board.

"Go again!"

. . .

"Look inward. When one is a ghost, one may have new abilities. Focus and discover them." Wu said. Cole closed his eyes as he meditated. He slowly lifted into the air, and his form disappeared.

"Whoa. Did you see me? I disappeared! I mean, did you not see me?" Cole asked, excitedly as he reappeared.

"Very good, Cole. Only you can unlock what is truly inside. That is it for today." Wu nodded.

. . .

"Okay, so first excluded from a commercial, then told to teach makeup, then your own words meant nothing to everyone." Morro recapped. He prepared the training bots.

"Teach makeup, teach cooking-- what about this!!" Nya shouted, spraying jets of water and destroyed the bots.

Jay sighed and turned back to the game.

"I win again." Zane said, knocking down Jay's king.

"Ah, Minidroid Chess. So what's the tally now? A hundred games to none?" Cole walked up to the two.

"Set them up, Zane. We're going again. What's got you so cheery?" Jay asked Cole.

"Remember back in the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master, when we all saw the reflection of our future selves?" Cole asked.

You mean when you couldn't see anything?"

"Yeah, it wasn't because I'm a goner. It's because I can disappear." Cole exclaimed.

"Oh, then why don't you make like a ghost and vanish? I need full concentration." Jay shooed Cole off.

"Oh, touchy, are we? Teach him a lesson, Zane." Cole walked off.

You still haven't told him what you saw in your future's reflection, have you?" Zane sighed.

"And ruin our friendship? No thanks. Besides, even if it were true, her mind's made up. It's never gonna happen." Jay sighed.

"I was fine until I saw us together. Now it's all I think about. I still remember what Neran said. Seeing the future, it makes you do things." Jay looked down.

"Bad day?" Misako asked Nya, walking up to her and Morro.

"You're supposed to hit them, not destroy them." Misako looked to Morro.

"She's had a bad day." Morro replied.

"Okay, I'm a girl, but I'm also more." Nya sighed.

"I'm not just some object that people can move around. I don't just look pretty. I'm not a trophy. But it's like people only see me as pity and for 'gender equality' and whatever." Nya said.

"Life is life, it's stupid. Just, look at me." Morro said.

"People are going to hate me because of things, and it won't change." He said.

Misako fixed the top of the bot.

"The harder it is, the more you will succeed." She said.

"It seems both of you need to get moving. Hit them. And this time, break them." Misako said. Nya and Morro exchanged glances. They readied their stances.

Jay sighed, looking at Nya and Morro spar.

"I mean-- I can't even get close to her. Even if it's fate, I can't win." Jay said.

"Checkmate. 101-0." Zane said.

"I hope I don't do anything crazy." Jay said, lying his head on the table.

"Someone's awake. And with bad news." Morro said. Lloyd walked out onto the bounty.

"I can announce it myself, thanks." Lloyd said.

"But yeah, there's trouble. Everyone, to the bridge." Lloyd snapped his fingers.

"What is it? Have they sold out of Kai action figures?" Kai ran into the bridge.

"I knew there wasn't enough-"

Morro hit Kai on the head.

"OW!" Kai exclaimed.

"Action figures aren't a cause to call everyone here." Morro said.

It appears when you destroyed the Cursed Realm, one ghost escaped. And you know him all too well. Clouse." Wu said, pulling up footage on the computer.

"Security footage shows him buying a train ticket that will arrive in Stiix in just a few hours." Wu informed.

Clouse? The sorcerer from Chen's Island?" Cole asked.

"What does he want with Stiix? That place is just a salvage yard now." The ghost ninja said.

That's why I want you to go there and stop whatever it is he is planning to do." Wu instructed.

"Yay. Two things I don't like. Clouse and going back to Stiix." Morro raised his hands. Everyone could tell this was sarcasm.

"But Dareth wanted us to visit the hospital for that Grant-A-Wish thing." Kai intervened.

"Hey, we take orders from Sensei Wu, not Dareth. Lil' Nelson only has a broken leg." Lloyd said.

"Lloyd's right. Dareth doesn't give us orders, you guys can reschedule any day you want." Morro said.

"Suit up!" The brothers called. The ninja ran off.

"They are growing up." Misako sighed.

"Yes, they are. But I'd still like to think Ninjago would fall apart without us." Wu added.

. . .

"Back to the grind." Nya sighed as the Ninja all flew on their Dragons. The shouts of fans coming from below filled the air.

"Ha, if it weren't for the Bounty, I don't think we'd ever get any peace and quiet." Jay said.

"Yeah, next time can I stay on the Bounty?" Morro asked.

"I think I'd have to drag you out then." Lloyd said.

"Man, if you were down there, you might as well destroy a building from stress." Cole pointed to the ground.

"That could happen." Morro said.

"Wh- wait, really?" Cole asked.

"Who cares, we just need to get to Stiix." Morro said.

"We're just over Ninjago City. Isn't that where Lil' Nelson is? What do you say, drop by for a quick stop? In and out." Kai suggested.

"We don't have time." Lloyd said, looking back to Kai.

"Technically, we do. As long as we don't encounter any problems." Zane said.

"What does Sensei always say? Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today." Cole said. Lloyd stopped and thought.

"Lloyd don't even consider it, we need to--" Morro looked back to see all the Ninja flying down.

"Guys, are you kidding me?!" Morro shouted.

. . .

"As a part of the Grant-A-Wish Foundation, we dub you an Honorary Ninja for the Day." Lloyd signed Nelson, a boy in purple clothes casts. The kid had two broken legs.

"Aw. I wish I broke both my legs." Another kid sighed.

"You don't want to break anything. It's a pain to even heal." Morro said.

"Could you stay to sign their casts?" Nelson asked, referring to the other kids.

"Aw, I wish we could, but duty calls." Nya saluted.

"Uh, not sure how far we'll get. Looks like we've got company." Cole said, his back pressed against the wall.

Jay walked to the window to immediately jump back and hide by the wall. Screams of fans pierced through the walls.

"How'd they find us?" Jay asked.

"Reply. Of course I'm at the hospital. My hair is sick. Haha. Send." Kai tapped his phone.

"Are you sending out a Chirp?!" Nya shouted. The attention turned to Kai.

"Uh, my followers have needs too." The fire ninja replied with sass.

If you recall, I said we would get to Stiix in time minus any problems." Zane walked to the window. Screaming. He ran back.

"This constitutes a major problem."

Morro stepped up.

"I don't even know if we can leave the building now."

"IS THAT MORRO? HE'S OUT IN PUBLIC?!"

Morro quickly grabbed the curtain and slide them over the glass window. The room was silent.

"How are so loud? How do they even--" Morro turned around.

"Well duh, Morro's here. He's my teammate. Wouldn't leave without him." Kai tapped send. He looked up to see an absolutely pissed Morro.

"I'm going to break your phone."

Kai shut up and put his phone away. Morro turned to face the green ninja.

'I saw helicopters, Lloyd. We can't fly.'

Lloyd thought.

"We can't fly without being spotted. Thanks for the notice, Morro. We need to not be followed if we wanna get out of here." Lloyd said.

"His hair is sick." A girl checked her phone.

"He is here! Aah!" The swarm of fans over threw the guarding police officer and ran into the hospital. He probably doesn't get pain enough for this.

"The screaming's getting louder. They're coming. What do we do?" Cole asked.

"You say I'm a ninja for the day, call me..." Nelson flipped on a hand made hood.

"the Purple Ninja!" He kid busted the door open with his wheelchair.

"That hood looks legit. Did you make that?" Nya asked as they all sped down the hall.

"You have a lot of time on your hands when you break both your legs." Nelson replied. The people were coming down the hall.

"This way!" Nelson turned left. The ninja followed.

"Double Leg, hyah!" He busted the door to the stairs open and held the door closed.

"This is as far as I can go. Follow this up to the rooftop. From there, take back streets. I'll hold them off at the pass." Nelson waved off the ninja.

"Lil' Nelson-I mean, Purple Ninja, thanks." Lloyd said.

"No. Thank you. You made my wish come true." Nelson said.

The Ninja ran up the stairs and made it to the roof.

"Phew. Looks like we lost them." Cole sighed.

"The next rooftop's too far to jump." Morro noted.

"Airjitzu?" Kai suggested.

"Whoa. I just learned how to make a Water Dragon. I haven't even earned my Airjitzu suit yet." Nya exclaimed.

"But if we don't leave now, we'll never get to Stiix to stop Clouse." Zane warned.

"We're a team. We stick together." Jay wrapped his arms around Nya.

"Take my glider if you want." Morro held out the staff.

Nya pushed Jay's arm off of her shoulder.

"I'll help you!" Jay exclaimed.

"Thanks, but I can handle myself." Nya said.

"Glider's still an option if you wanna go alone." Morro said.

It's okay. Right now, we're just having our first fight." Jay said.

What do you mean right now?" Nya asked and turned to Jay

"And just what are you implying by we?" Nya asked further.

Lloyd heard the faint sound of a helicopter.

"They're gonna see us. Quick, take cover." The Ninja used Airjitzu to blend in with colourful graffiti on the back of a billboard. Everyone but Nya.

Nya, you need to hide too!" Jay exclaimed. Nya crossed her arms and turned away.

"Ugh. Forget what I said, just take my hand!" Jay reached out.

No. What did you mean when you said we?" Nya turned back to Jay.

"I'm a ninja, and I'm nobody's girl." Nya asked.

"Come and hide, Nya." Morro said.

"We're gonna be spotted!" Cole exclaimed. A helicopter flew by the ninja.

"Too late. So much for stopping Clouse." Kai sighed.

"Ugh. Let's just hope he missed his train." Lloyd rested his hand on his neck. And they were spotted.

However the ghost they were after, didn't miss his train after all. Clouse made it to Stiix. And it was a wreckage of the village. Yet, he still need to find something.
