《Brother of Wind {book 4: The Tournament of Elements}》chapter 14

"Bring in the prisoners." Clouse announced. The inner temple was filled with chants and worshipers. Torches were lit and the captured fighters were taken down the steps to the platform.
"So the ninja were right. This was never about any of us winning the tournament. This was always about something sinister." Griffin said, struggling in his chains.
"What gave that away? Was it his cult following, or the giant snake head?" Shade roled his eyes.
"We've been fighting each other for so long, it took us all losing to finally pull us together." Neuro said. Jay started humming, dreamily.
"Too bad it's too late." Neuro sighed.
Kai glared back at Jay.
"Why are you humming? You do know they're about to take our powers?" He snapped.
"Since these cursed shackles have blocked our powers, I choose to use the power of positive thinking." Jay replied.
"Lloyd and Morro will come save us. You just wait."
The fighters were pushed down on their knees as they reacher the platform. Kai looked up as Skylor turned away.
"Go ahead and look away, but you know as well as I do after he takes our powers, he's still gonna need yours." Kai said, narrowing his gaze.
"You don't understand. My father gets everything he wants. I had no choice." Skylor said back.
"Just tell me one thing." Kai started.
"Was it his idea to make me fall for you, or yours? Because it worked."
Skylor silently gasped. She felt the need to blush, but it didn't seem like the time.
"Look at me. I'm floating!" Chen exclaimed, levitating his chair as he swooped down from the sky. The gravity turned up just a moment and Chen dropped.
"I got it, I got it." He said, catching himself.
"I just got distracted by how awesome this place looks. Well done, Clouse. You've really set the mood. And look at this. Soon, I'll have more power. It's good to be me." Chen spined around.
"You may have us, but you still don't have Lloyd and Morro!" Jay exclaimed.
"Ah, yes. I bet right now they'll swoop down to save you in the very last moment and teach me a valuable lesson. Well, I'll wait. I love lessons." Chen jumped onto his chair.
There was a moment of quiet.
"Any minute now." Jay called.
"That's enough. I'm bored." Chen stood up from his chair.
"But here's a lesson: don't be a sore loser. Only one can remain!" He raised his staff, a pale blue icy wind coved the elemental masters.
They call cried out in pain as their feet were lifted off the ground. Colourful auras spilled out of the masters and into the crystal in the staff of elements.
"The power is mine. All mine!" Chen yelled.
"He never came..." Jay said, staring down.
"Take them to the factory!" Chen yelled.
"Father, please, spare Kai." Skylor stepped forwards.
"I've seen inside his head. He's different. He can help you." She pleaded.
"You like the boy, don't you? If it will make you happy. Leave the red one." Chen commanded. Kai's chains were taken off his hands as the rest were taken away. Kai glared at Skylor and Chen. He felt unsure of what to do.
. . .
Nya, Lloyd, Morro and Garmadon peered over the walls at Chen's temple.
"Lloyd, you need to destroy that staff. I'll help the best I can but... It'll be up to you." Morro said.
"He knows I'm coming. But I can't just hide here and do nothing." Lloyd said.

"We have to wait until nightfall. There's too many." Nya said.
"And then what?" Lloyd asked.
"Every minute we're out here, he grows more powerful and--"
"Son, Chen grows strong by taking from others. But real power does the opposite. It empowers those around you. Like the way you've empowered me. We will get you to Chen, and you will destroy his staff." Garmadon reassured.
. . .
"
Ah, would you look at that? If a foot soldier like Eyezor can move up the chain of command, why can't we? " one warrior guarding the door said.
"I mean, the guy's only got one good eye, and we each got two. We could spot a ninja twice as fast as he could." He said, watching Eyezor yell at someone.
"But he's got a mohawk. And his name, Eyezor. It's got a real ring to it. And it's practical. You know, with his creepy sore eye and all." Another guy said.
"That's it. That's it. We need names. We need something that'll make us, you know, stand out. I got it. Call me Kapau!" He jumped up.
"Oh, that's good. What should I be? Oh, I know. Hey, who's that? It's Maleficium!" The other guy yelled.
"Malefici--that's a horrible name. I can hardly pronounce it." Kapau said.
"Then how about, uh...Chope?"
"Chope? Yeah, I'm not gonna judge. Wait a minute, yes I am. That is awesome!" Kapau jumped up.
"Look out, world, Kapau and Chope moving up the ranks." Chope waved his hand in the air.
"Yeah!" Kapau exclaimed.
"No talking on duty, minions." Eyezor said.
"Uh, it's actually Chope and Kap--"
"I SAID NO TALKING!!"
. . .
"
Work!!" A cultist yelled, pushing the elemental masters into the factory.
"No, no. It's not working if you love what you do. The power of positive thinking." Jay waved him off. The new people were brought to their stations and started pulling levers and stuff.
"Psst."
Jay looked up.
"Cole? Zane? Is that you? Oh, you look amazing!" Jay exclaimed at the sight of his friends.
"Not so loud. They think we've escaped and don't know we're here." Cole whispered.
"Why would you come back?" Jay asked.
"Because we're breaking everyone out." Cole leaned against the conveyer belt.
"Correction. We're building our way out." Zane smiled. He pointed towards Karlof working on the roto jet, with a cloth covering the project.
"They think we're fixing the noodle machine, but we're fixing a Roto Jet." Cole explained.
"A Roto Jet? But aren't we underground?" Jay asked.
"That's what I've been saying!" Cole exclaimed.
"What happened to positive thinking?" Karlof turned away from the jet.
"No talking! And hurry up with that noodle machine." Zugu commanded.
"Okay, okay. It will be ready soon. When ready, noodle will fly out of here." Karlof said with a smile.
"Hey, do you know where Kai is?" Cole turned back to Jay.
"Last I heard, he's getting the 'special' treatment." Jay said, rolling his eyes.
. . .
Kai walked through the hall as Chen guided him, showing the ninja multiple artifacts he collected... Somehow.
"A scale from the Great Devourer, Captain Soto's peg leg, a cog from the Celestial Clock, Zane's pink gi, and this..." Chen grabbed a purple blade from the shelf.
"Woah." Kai stepped back.
"An Anacondrai sword. They are the sharpest blade in existence, fit for the greatest warrior to ever do battle in Ninjago." Chen said as he sliced a banner in two.
Kai rolled his eyes, bored.

"Why are you showing me all this? You do realize if you weren't holding that staff right now, I'd strike you down right here." He threatened.
"Skylor was right. Even without your power, the fire burns bright in you." Chen placed the sword back on the shelf.
"Unlike you and my dear Skylor, who inherited her powers from her mother, I was never born with natural abilities." Chen said. Kai yawned.
"I was told I would amount to nothing. But I will show them they are all wrong! Look." Chen pointed to a painting with fierce serpentine wielding blades.
"call it The Charge of the Dark Brigade. It's beautiful, isn't it? The reds, the purples, the super dark purples." Chen gazed at the painting as Kai stood there.
"After I defeat your little friends and take their powers, I will have all the Elements I need to conjure a spell that will transform me and my worshippers into Anacondrai." Chen raised his staff.
"With you and your friends gone, nothing will stop me. But I've seen inside your head." He turned to Kai
"I know you're still jealous Lloyd was chosen to be the Green Ninja. It could've been you. Have you ever wondered what it felt like to have so much power pulsing through your veins?" He grinned as Kai turned away and tried to block him out.
"Yes you have. There is so much potential in you, Kai. I want to give you the chance to find it." Chen said.
"I will never turn on my friends." Kai snapped.
"Of course. But what if I also told you there were secrets about your parents that your Senseis never told you? Dark secrets." Chen tempted.
"My parents? What secrets?" Kai stepped forwards.
"So many questions that can so easily be answered." Chen turned away.
"Master, it is nightfall. The Green and Sage Ninja will be making their move shortly." Clouse informed.
"Think about it." Chen turned back to Kai before he left.
Kai was left alone to himself.
"Hmm..." He muttered.
. . .
The night was here and the time to strike was now. The small team started to move in.
"
Remember, destroy the staff and everyone's power returns. You came here to make your team a whole. Finish the job." Garmadon said to Lloyd.
"And we, just need to not get caught." Morro sighed. The brothers flipped on their hoods and went first. Nya had previously shot a line to the buildings and they used it to glide their way across.
Landing on a rooftop, they dodged the sight of a guard. Lloyd held up his hands behind him as Garmadon kicked the guard and make him pass out.
Morro jumped down to a platform just outside the main templed and blew the two guards there up, leaving Nya to jump down and knock them it in the air. Pretty impressive move to pull off.
The groude made their way in, but it was too dark to see and Lloyd triggered an alarm, making the room go bright and alarms got loud. Tons of warriors ran to the fight.
They started to fight, keeping the front line down but more came from behind.
"There's too many of them!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"I'll hold them. You guys, find Chen!" Nya shouted. Garmadon and Lloyd ran ahead and Morro turned around.
"Nya, might wanna duck!" He said.
Nya bent down as two warriors closed in. Morro slashed his arm sideways and a strong gust of wind hit back multiple guards, lettingNya have an advantage.
"Thank you!" She said.
The three ran their way into a hall.
"Look out!" Garmadon cried. They all jumped to the side, barely avoiding Clouse's magic attack.
"Go, son. Leave Clouse to me! Morro, follow him, now!" Garmadon instructed.
"Good luck" Lloyd said.
"Your father doesn't believe in luck." Clouse advanced.
"I know. I wasn't talking to him." Lloyd smirked.
"Survive if you dare." Morro saluted off before running.
Garmadon grabbed a sword from one of the shelves as Clouse grabbed an anacondrai blade.
"Just like back in the training yard." Garmadon recalled.
"Only this time, I refuse to lose!" Clouse ran at the sensei. The swords were able to clash at first, but Clouse's blade started cutting Garmadon's sword down to the handle.
A few steps later, Lloyd fell in a trap door. Followed by Morro who soften his fall.
"Argh. Chen and his trap doors!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"How many of those things does he have in this place?" Morro asked, getting up.
Suddenly, the two boys heard a growl. And they knew that sound and what it meant. The large purple serpent was quickly making it's way towards the brothers.
"Get up, get up, go!!" Morro yelled, pulling Lloyd to his feet.
They ran fast, they didn't know where but they needed to escape that snake.
"Morro! Lloyd! Over here!" A small torch light in the distance. The brothers recognized the voice as Kai and quickly ran to him without hesitation.
They had escaped the snake. And kai sighed with relief.
"Kai! You escaped!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"What happened?" Morro asked. The two flipped off their hoods.
"I managed to slip free, but Chen took all our powers." Kai started.
"If we can find them--"
"There's no time. I have to stop Chen." Lloyd cut the red ninja off.
"If it's just Lloyd and I alone, so be it." Morro said. Kai stopped. He had a look of sorrow, maybe regret.
"Kai." Morro said.
"Kai, what's wrong?" Lloyd asked.
"Ah, I'm sorry guys." Kai blew out the torched.
"This will all make sense when it's over!"
"Kai?!" Morro shouted.
Behind you!
Morro whisked around and shot wind out, but at the arc of his swing, someone, Morro thought Kai, grabbed the wind ninja's wrist and twisted it.
"ARGH!" Morro yelled, just before he was slammed into the wall, making him pass out.
"ARGH!"
"Morro?! Kai?!" Lloyd ran forwards.
"Where are you?!" He yelled. The lights turned on in the room, revealing the bracket board with Lloyd and Chen in the center. Lloyd flipped his hood on.
"The final round. It all ends here!" Chen jumped out.
"You! You turned Kai against me?" Lloyd shouted.
"Like I said, only one can remain." Chen said.
Lloyd immediately fired an energy blast at Chen, but he used speed to dodge quickly.
"Oh, please. What use is one Element when I have the rest? Shadow!" Chen yelled, disappearing into the dim-lighted places.
"I know what you're up to. The Anacondrai Wars are over. You're living in the past." Lloyd yelled, trying to find his opponent.
"Wrong!" Chen threw a fire ball at Lloyd. The ninja jumped back.
"I decide when it's over. And who doesn't like a blast from the past? Ice!" He blasted ice at Lloyd. The green ninja jumped behind the bracket board to take cover.
"Fire!" Chen laughed. The board exploded, sending Lloyd flying in the air.
"When my followers become Anacondrai, Ninjago will be controlled by those who deserve it, the most powerful. Gravity!" Chen slammed his staff on the ground, lifting Lloyd in the air, and landing on the ceiling.
Chen ran up the walls, jumped on the lanterns and threw Lloyd up-- or, down.
"Whoa! What you have isn't power!" Lloyd yelled.
"It's stealing! Aah!" Lloyd was being thrown into the lanterns. He fell back to the ground and quickly jumped back, avoiding Chen's physical attacks.
"Real power doesn't need to take from others. Real power stops people like you!" Lloyd yelled, charging up his energy. He flipped over Chen and fired, but Chen slammed the staff on the ground, covering himself in a layer of metal and deflecting Lloyd's attack right at him.
Lloyd slammed against the bracket board.
"Only one can remain." Chen laughed.
Lloyd's image on the board cracked in two and fell off the board. The tournament was finished.

Forgotten Dungeon
Death comes quickly and without warning. Even for such little personage as him. It's quite hard to start as a dungeon core. Quite harder when divine bureaucracy simply dumps you in the a** end of nowhere because of their incompetence and because of your agent status as a Fallen Angel. Yet Uno (temporary name) is used to working with subpar materials and making the best of circumstances. It doesn't help that his personality was cut down to size, but he tries to overcome the system with ingenuity and a healthy dose of duct tape. Or the local equivalent of such. *** An audiobook of the Forgotten Dungeon story has been made by Agro Squerrils and is available on YouTube, under this link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcfzFNUhrNS3Z7DfjN5pMWn-CI1uKg3s2 He has my permission and full support for doing so, so don't be shy and check it out! *** Hello people! It's a story about a dungeon. Or maybe the dungeon? Who knows. Dumped in a hostile world, working hard to overcome circumstances. There is an RPG system in place, but I'll try to make it not number-heavy. I would be more focused on skills - at least from the perspective of the sentient races. Dungeons will have their own little playground. I'll try to make MC not overpowered - it always irks me how the stories tend to go from zero to hero in a few minutes. I hope y'all will enjoy the ride! *** Also, a Discord server has been made recently: https://discord.gg/sK2pam3 Join and share your opinions, if interested! :)

8 85Grim Beginnings
For most, ghosts and monsters were fantasy. For Tessa Byrne-Reyes, they were a constant in her daily life as a reaper. The legendary gods and creatures of mythology were, to her, historical figures. From a young age, she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, possessing what she saw as a curse but what her family considered a gift. It was her birthright, to use her abilities to guide the deceased to the afterlife of an eternity in peace or in torment. Her classmates viewed her as "the fainting girl" who would pass out in the middle of a lesson with inexplicable injuries. She experienced each death in the town of Belmont Falls, from the mundane to the gruesome. A gunshot wound in the gut, broken ribs, her heart ceasing to beat for several minutes. No one understood what caused these incidents but over the years, she gained a reputation for being abnormal. While Tessa is the freak of Belmont Falls, Fin Belmont, the charming rebel and son of the richest man in town, is her polar opposite. Knowing each other for years but never saying more than a dozen words between them, one night changes everything, thrusting them into each other's unfamiliar and daunting worlds. Together, with the help of her best friend/his ex-girlfriend Elena, they begin to unravel secrets about their town and their pasts, learning that some secrets are better left buried and grudges can be held for centuries.
