《The Spark of Balance: The Realm of Mianite (Book 1)》Ch36- Suffering

Dianite POV-

The past few weeks had been unexpected. As a god he was used to being able to know where everyone was at all times and having the power to do whatever he wanted. It was a strange feeling to not be in full control of things, it was infuriating.

As the god of the Nether people expected pure evil, and frankly they weren't wrong.

There was a certain joy to seeing others suffer, bringing about chaos and inbalance had become a sort of hobby, almost therapeutic. Dinate had accomplished much these past months, capturing his preposterous brother, bought forth war though his followers, and annoyed a specific young girl to death.

The last part was unexpected, though he enjoyed seeing her suffer, she was the reason for his most recent distress. As he paced around his makeshift throne room thoughts began to swirl though his head.

Perhaps she had failed and Dianite's father had killed dear Jordan, or tortured her, depends on what his mood is. Maybe he had bought her acting and they are out there somewhere making their next move, it would make sense that his father managed to make a base that he nor Miante could find. The shadow's abilities were above their own in some aspects after all. Lastly was the possibility he dreaded most....

Perhaps she had fallen for his father's lies, Dinate thoughs caused him to stop his pacing and sit at his throne.

"That girl is such a hassle to keep track of, no wonder she is an Ianitee" he said out loud to no one in particular

Hmm, perhaps some more torturing of his brother would bring his mind at ease...

"Prepare the prisoner! I must see him at once" Dianite screamed to the pigmen standing loyal at his side.

Dinate stood and instead of walking down to the dungeons he decided to teleport, walking was a mundane struggle he found useless.

Once at the dungeons he saw the dark silhouette of his brother at the furthest edge of the room. He was weak and bathed in his own blood, nevertheless he showed no fear as Dinate entered the room.

Ianite had always been a stubborn child, always waisting his time helping others even if it cost him, that being one of their mothers irrational lessons. Miante and Ianite had that stubbornness about them that managed to please mother and infuriate father when they were boys.

Thought at the time he never thought he would keep Ianite prisoner one day, it brought him great joy now.

"Hello brother. You seem quite depressed today, still upset that your champion betrayed you? I told you it would happen long ago, now she has destroyed every trace of you. Your monument, gifts, they are all gone. Funny, you though the both of you were alike all this time, now she has joined a side much darker than my own, how does that feel?" Dinate asked with a smile, though it was a lie, his brother was never good at distinguishing truths.

When Ianite did not respond, he forceluffy lifted up his brothe's face upwards to see him.

Ianite was in pain of course, but his expression showed no trace of his physical pains, the tears running down his face were for the emotional pain of his champion. As satisfactory as it was to see his brother like that, it just wasn't enough to quench his needs, so he decided to proceed with the teasing.

"Looks like she won't come to rescue you after all like you said she promised. Just imagine what a wonderfully time she must be spending with father, I bet she is a great champion at his side. I could smell her darkness for miles."

Ianite chuckled blood and took several tries to attempt speaking. As he proceeded to clear his thoat and spit of all the blood he could, Dinate sat and stared in glee.

"You...you know this means she...didn't chose you as well. She... won't ever be your...champion. If I didn't know you so well...it would be hard to assume that you too are disappointed"

How dare he! Even as his prisoner, after all the torture and pain he had put Ianite trough, he still had the nerve to speak to him like this!

Sometimes even Dinate was convinced that she really was on his father side. That all she had done was done with free will. It was...disappointing to say the least, he really did want her on his side.

Her skills and determination were a powerful combination, in just a few weeks she had managed to be at the same level as those around her, the best warriors in Mianite. She was also fearless, her intellect and lack of fear made for an easier learning environment on multiple occasions.

It was true that with time she would become a great warrior that could grow to be invincible, that was the kind of strength that he desired, but she always pulled away.

Troughout the years Dinate had learned that everyone had a price or a weakness, with that he mangned to get many followers and destroy many enemies. She was different... he couldn't convince her. That kind of quality was rare and it just made him want her more. She didn't immediately throw herself at his offers, she was even strong enough to defy him without fear.

All of that was always so confusing to him, specially why she would chose to follow Ianite. It just seemed like a waste of raw evil talent.

Although he knew what Ianite was referring to when he mentioned disappointment, it couldn't be true. Dinate was dark and evil, there was no sense of feelings inside his hollow heart. Still, it was a troubling thought.

"How is she?" Ianite asked sadly

I don't know, Dinate almost said.

" She seems to be quite happy. Her and father have destroyed much in the overworld. You should see the fire in her eyes when someone mentions your name, I believe she may want to kill you more than I brother." Dinate lied

Ianite then slouched his head back to facing the floor, drowning in the betrayal.

Before Dinate could began to really start having some fun, one of his servants burst in the room unannounced. In normal circumstances, Dinate would have ended him right there and then were it not for the message he brought forth.
