《The Spark of Balance: The Realm of Mianite (Book 1)》Ch 9- The Gods

Claire POV-
"Nooooooooo!" She woke up with her heart feeling like it would pop out of her chest. Jordan curled up into a ball and looked up to see who was responsible for waking her up during a very important moment in my life.
Tom.
"Tom what are you doing here! Why did you wake me up! I was kind of in the middle of something!" she screamed of the top of her lungs to make it clear how pissed she was. In response, he just came closer to her and shrugged off the anger like it wasn't important.
"Jordan, something is wrong. Mianite and Dianite just showed up a minute ago and requested that we all meet them by the priest's house, we need to go!" He sounded flustered, so Jordan got up without complaining any further about the dream and began searching for clothes.
"There is not time for that just come with me" he pulled her out of the bedroom and as he dragged her along he said " By the way you are such a heavy sleeper, it took me a while to wake you up!"
"I can't believe you Tom!" she said as Tom laughed
Aside from her anger she was worried, if Tom of all people was flustered about the gods being here then maybe there was a lot to fear. Guess she gonna go meet the gods today whether she liked it or not. In the middle of the night. Wearing pajamas.
Hopefully they didn't mind her very informal attire.
Jordan did however quickly grabbed a sword on her way out of the house. Not just for the mobs but also in case she needed to defend myself from Dianite, Jordan still didn't trust him.
They made it to the priest's house on record time. Sonja and Tucker were already there looking as tired as Jordan was, they were also wearing their pajamas, at least she wouldn't be the outlier of the group on that. Jordan was really to sink to the floor and rest until the gods arrived when the sky began to light up.

Then out of nowhere a lightning bolt and a large fire ball fell from the sky inches away from them.
Then two men appeared.
The first was tall and had a proud stance and a stoic smile. He had white hair and a white beard, he also had some greek like robes on. He looked friendly and not old like she had imagined him to be, her guess was late 30s.
The other man, didn't look too friendly. He was a little shorter, but he had red skin and two large horns on his head. He was wearing a small tunic that showed his chest, though as soon as he landed he changed into clothes smilirar to his brothers. Strange thing was, he wouldn't stop looking at her with a devilish smile, it was as if no one else was there but the two of them.
'Oh boy, here we go...' she thought
Suddenly, Sonja, Tucker, and Tom all bowed at their respective gods. Jordan just stood there not knowing what to do. The gods didn't pay attention to her presence then until their champions finished their bow. Then they took a good look at the four of them. None of them knew what to say so they just stood there next to each other quietly.
"Ah yes, finally the four heroes are united. Lady Sparkles, would you mind stepping froward. Leave your sword behind, I guarantee we are no threat to you." Mianite said
Dianite just motioned at her with his finger to come forward. After a second of hesitation she did as she was told, left the sword behind and walked forward to were she was a step away from them.
'I swear, if they kill me I'm gonna be incredibly pissed' she thought to herself trying to cancel out the fear
" We haven't officially welcomed you to the world of Mianite, I apologize for that, us gods live very busy lives . How are you enjoying your stay?" Mianite said and took her hand in his. He politely kissed it and motioned Dianite to do the same. After he did, he gave her an evil grin that send chills all over.

Ok. These were gods, she had to be incredibly formal to them otherwise they may kill her, no pressure though.
Jordan then bowed down in a way I had seen in an old victorian era film then said, "Thank you very much for your kind hospitality and for allowing me to reside in your world. I am incredibly thankful and honored to be amongst your presence. Forgive me for asking, but why have you summed us here now? I find it hard to believe that you would summon us at this time for an introduction".
Yep, formal enough. Looked like her parent's formality lessons and watching tv had finally paid off, and judging by everyone's faces they were quite impressed at her response as well.
"Your kindness and formality is appreciated, but please, there is no need for that now. We are here to speak as equals to welcome you to the world! This and...well we were wondering if you had made your decision on who you will follow. My brother and I felt a strange energy today that makes us assume we know who you have chosen. Its just such an...uncommon choice that we need to make sure." Mianite assured.
The others were staring at her intensively, eager for the decision that could label her forever.
"Well here goes nothing.." she whispered
"Yes, you are right. I've made up my mind. I have decided to follow Lord Ianite."
There was a moment of silence that was quickly broken by Tom. "Ianite!? Sparkly pants, he doesn't even exist, are you joking!?" Then he burst out laughing.
Dianite teleported in front of Tom and screamed at his face "Silence you fool! You know not what you say! Now stay quiet or maybe I'll just have to take away your armor!". With that Tom's smile disappeared and looked away.
"Now now Dianite, there is no need for violence. Dear, are you sure this is what you want? I for one do not oppose your decision, but I would like to have you on my team, as does my brother."
Then Dianite spoke up referring to Jordan directly for the first time, " Yes, name your price, everyone has a price and I am willing to bet I can be the highest bidder"
Well that was creepy.
All eyes were on her. Is that what is felt like to be a shiny new toy that two siblings were fighting for. Poor toy.
Their words didn't appeal to her at all though, she was very sure of her decision, just hoped they would't take it the wrong way.
"With all due respect, I'm afraid I have already made my choice. I will follow Lord Ianite till the ends of the earth, and time. Everybody needs someone to believe in them, I believe in him more than anything else and I'm willing to fight for him even if it costs me my life. Magic or not the world brought us together, and together we have a chance to restore balance to this land, and we will!" Jordan made sure to give Dianite a harsh grin during that last part, and he seemed to get the message.
"Very well, now everyone please return to your homes. Get some rest, Lady Sparkles, I believe you have made a very powerful choice. Just know that my doors are always open, I could use someone like you on my side...Farewell. Dianite, lets go." One second they were there, the other they were gone.
Then Tom yelled off the top of his lungs;
"Are you out of your mind! For fucks sake Jordan, you decided to follow an imaginary god! You couldn't make up your mind so you decided to follow an imaginary god!" She didn't exactly feel like dealing with Tom's rant, so she pulled his tie towards her to bring him close to her face then quietly said, "He is real Tom, deal with it" and sprinted back home not looking back despite them screaming her name over and over.
Jordan ran into her room and quickly tried to fall asleep, she needed to talk to Ianite.

Dear Student, What follows is an adaption of the diary of Emmett Carter before his Ascension. While the decades during and after the Aurora Apocalypse are lost to us, the Ascended himself has allowed us to publish this work so long as we warn the reader that it may not be entirely accurate or present an unbiased viewpoint of the events. One should also note that the Aurora was in flux during that time and some things that were possible in the early days are no longer possible, especially with the advent of the Akashic record. Editors have included footnotes when possible to explain pre-aurora technologies or concepts and how they relate to current magical technologies. The contents of this work may upset readers. If you’ve ever been in a natural disaster, had a house fire, witnessed a murder, lost a loved one to violence, or have a strong opinion on the sanctity of life, please do not read this.
