《Mianite: Decay》Deacon

Tucker had set up a fire before it even became close to dusk.

Jordan and I decided to go for a walk and look over everything. I think we were both getting tried of Tom, already.

I threw a twig into the river between the town and mainland.

"What did the trees ever do to you?", Jordan shoved me to the side.

I picked up another cold twig and threw it in the river growling to myself, "being shit kindling".

"Your just upset that were somewhere as cold as your heart", Jordan said and picked up another piece of what could have been kindling and tossing it to the side.

"I hate winter". I pulled the lavender scented jacket around my body tighter.

Jordan glanced at the coat, "you think that was given with the get up or-"

"I don't care", I cut him off before he could make assumptions, "wish they could have picked something warmer".

He shrugged and picked up a log that Tucker definitely wouldn't deem good enough for his campfire.

"You think we should have let up the offer", I asked.

Jordan gave me an odd look.

"With the shelter and stuff", I explained better.

"Well", he picked up another log. I had a feeling he didn't really care what happened to Tucker's campfire anymore, "I don't like the feel of the place. It's more creepy then first day Modsteps and the godless combined".

I shook my head at the big dork that Jordan was.

"I don't know Hope", Jordan sighed, "I don't think we could agree on anything anyway".

"Like", I waited for him to elaborate more.

"Well Tom would tear the house apart, Sonja would yell at Tucker to help him decorate and-", Jordan stared at me, "would you even want to be roommates anymore".

I fiddled with the small bible in my shirt pocket, "you trust me on my own?"

"Well yes", he said, "your oddly mature which is creeping me out".

I lifted my head and stood up straight, "huh", I shook my head, "ugh it's just my back still hurts from when Dianite kicked the shit out of me".

I stopped walked and felt my back, "wait what?"

Jordan stopped from his pace ahead of me and turned to face me. "What happened".

"My back doesn't hurt", I poked my spin and felt fabric under my shirt, "and there's bandage-", I stopped talking finding the edge of the gauze and started to rip it off, "God dammit they took actual good care of us!"

Jordan nodded his head silently and did that smart person thing when he squinted in his glasses, but still smiling.

I glared at him, "what?"

He shrugged still doing that smart person 'I'm better than you' squint, "Nothing".

"Your a lying bastard", I crossed my arms.

"Cmon lets go back to the camp and make smores", Jordan started walking forward.

I wasn't budging and Jordan didn't seem to care.

"Child services can't kill me now hurry up or the wolves will eat you", Jordan said.

To bad for him I'm not scared.

"What the fuck are smores?!"

***

Through the woods I could see the hint of orange light from the campfire and all of the arguing voices that just sounded like whispers from how far away we were.

"We should have let them let us stay", Sonja doubted herself circling the campfire. She raised up a hand to me as I walked over, "look Hope's lips are pure blue".

"It doesn't take a lot to put color in her pasty face, Sonja", Tom smirked at me.

I stuck my tongue out at him.

Everyone went silent.

Tucker threw the logs that Jordan got to the side, "there not good enough".

"Everything is cold and damp Tucker", Jordan said, "what do you want me to do?"

"I'll get more stuff for your precious baby", I picked up my bow, "don't cry".

Jordan started walking behind me, "Do want me to help-?"

"No", I yelled without looking back, "you can argue", I mumbled.

I could here Tom and Tucker start up the argument and then Jordan and Sonja tried to intervene. It didn't work.

I heard some weird type of bird chirping, which was oddly soothing. The wind was whipping harder against my face and shoulders finding a way to chill my whole body. My legs were somehow numb from the cold which was actually more helpful than horrifying.

The night was covering the last peaks of orange and pink sunlight that was poking through the castle in the distance.

I was quite far away from are camp now and a had made my way to the opposite of the mainland to the other side of the river.

I squinted my eyes and almost saw something purple over the edge of the mountain, like the grass just suddenly changed color.

I walked forward not really having anything else to do and started to smell something like oil or gas, but also rotten fruit.

I stood silently and watched the sky give the grass an odd red tint. I glanced up to see that the moon was red.

Wait. The fuck.

"Why", I asked myself silently.

I whipped out my bow and arrow and aimed it behind me as growling started to get louder. It wasn't a human, it was an animal. Some type of animal.

I kept my ears keen to behind me, because I didn't trust anything right now.

A ragged looking dog with grey fur prowled towards me and its mouth foamed a lavender color. Parts of its fur was torn off showing worn, red skin.

It must be rabid.

There was nothing I could do for the poor thing. I would just have to put it down easy.

I didn't move my feet and drew my bowstring back as the animal stayed at bay.

I let go of my bowstring as the animal jumped for me. The arrow flew straight into its head and fell before I could be knocked down with it.

I heard more barking from my back and whipped around staring over the river.

The dogs which looked just like the other one that I had killed. The growled and barked and howled, but didn't seem to determined to cross the river. They definitely didn't like me.

A stick cracked behind me. I pulled back my bowstring to find my eyes at another dog, but this one was well groomed with brown and black fur and pointed up ears that we're excited to see me.

The dog had a blue collar with a golden tag. I kneeled down and the dog still wasn't afraid of me with ears still perked up. I grabbed the tag and turned it to where the dogs named was etched in.

"Shepard", I said and the dog barked almost to tell me I was right.

The grass started to shuffle behind me and the dog and Shepard's ears dropped and he started to growl.

"What is it", I turned where Shepard was looking.

I was whipped off my feet and there was a sharp pain around my ankle. A vine was wrapped around my leg. I reached over to take the vine off my leg. Another shock of pain slammed into my ankle and shot up my arm.

Shepard growled staring at something behind me.

Creatures, with grey skin and black cloaks started to appear out of darkness and the cracks between trees.

"Fuck", I whispered to myself.

The vine started to move dragging me towards the river more numbing pain shooting up my body.

I laid down reaching as far as I could for my bow that was just out of my grasp.

"Help!", I screamed, running out of options.

More pain was making my body numb. My mind felt airy and lightheaded.

Shepard was barking at the creatures in cloaks, that backed up every time he barked to human like for comfort.

"Shepard", I heard someone yell and Shepard's ears perked up again.

I was still being dragged slowly towards the river to whatever the hell this creature was. The grey dogs barked and growled with Shepard and my mind was getting more limp by the second.

"Shepard!", the voice yelled again.

And now I realized I knew that voice.

This is bullshit.

Shepard stopped growling and was now barking happy barks. I was still trapped and loosing my mind by the minute.

And as I had predicted the prince stumbled onto the seen.

Shepard was no longer barking at the creatures and they were no longer mad. The prince stared at me and then my leg.

Shepard started being helpful again and continued his angry barking and the cloaked men backed up farther away.

I started sliding down the muddy slop of the river.

"My bow!", I let out in the midst of a surprised scream.

The prince picked up my bow and continued to stare at me.

Seriously.

The vine pulled me down the river bank more. The prince still wasn't moving.

"Help", I let out as strong as I could.

He flinched out of whatever he was thinking about and stomped out the vine.

If I would have known it was that fucking easy.

The creatures had been scared off by Shepard's barking and the grey dogs at the other side of the bridge were slowly easing away. I guess I wasn't that interesting anymore.

The prince helped me up.

I pushed the prince away, "I'm fine".

My right ankle tingled and burned. My knee gave out and Prince Andor caught my right arm leaning me against him.

"I just need to regain my footing", I mumbled to myself trying to stand up again.

"You can't stand on your foot now", he said.

I glared at him.

My knee gave out again and I was back against his shoulder.

"The thorns had poison in them"

"What?", I hissed.

"I'm sorry", he whispered.

That's the moment I reminded myself to stop being such a bitch.

I started to get lightheaded again. "Where", I held my head, "I need to get to my team".

"Uh-okay?", The Prince stuttered, "where are your friends".

"Right by the bridge to", I took a deep breath, I was feeling more drowsy then normal, "by your kingdom".

"It's not mine", he adjusted me against his shoulder, "are you okay?"

He was so quiet I could barely hear him.

"Just tired".

***

I had kinda zoned out until I heard the all to familiar yelling once again.

"What do you mean poison?",Sonja yelled more than asked.

"For animals it makes them go rabid, for plants its some kind of blight, and it just kills humans", The Prince explained.

Well I'm screwed.

"How do you fix it!", Jordan yelled. My vision was getting less blurry and I could see him pacing around the fireplace.

"It can easily be fixed by disinfecting it with peroxide, but if you let it go any longer the wound will be to bad to fix", The prince continued.

"Where the hell do I get that!", Jordan lashed out again.

I lifted my head up from my sitting place. I held my spinning head, "chill out all of you".

Jordan leaned down and lifted my swollen ankle, "how the hell did you do this?"

"I was just walki-", I stopped and took a deep breath. Another shock of pain went through my body.

"Unbelievable".

"I have peroxide at my house-"

"Um no offense", Tom started. If he said it, it was going to be offensive, "But we all have trust issues and we kinda don't want to have to owe or pay for anything".

Everything I said was to quiet to hear and Jordan wasn't answering for my sake anymore.

Thanks buddy.

Someone shut Thomas up. All I was seeing was grass and my feet so I couldn't tell who was saving my skin.

"Please don't listen to a word he says".

Oh thank you Tucker.

"I have a house by me and I partiality own it. You can all stay there for time being", The Prince added on.

"Whatever works-", my mind went blank, "I feel drunk-like", I got out before I hit the ground again. My ears ringed and my vision got foggy.

***

My hand felt fabric under itself and my head was now comfortably propped up.

I leaned my head up and squinted at the white pillows that I had my head laying on. Three pillows, which is exactly what I've always slept with. Jordan or Tom must have been here.

My hair was a knotted mess because my ponytail had fallen out somewhere and my hair was long enough when I was eight. I twirled my ankle. It didn't sting anymore.

I was only under a sheet which was odd of me. I may have went under a fever or something due to the poison.

I laid back down straight against the mattress. God I missed beds. I shut my eyes shielding away the sun and kicked the sheet of off my feet. With a reassuring swish the sheet landed on the floor.

I opened my eyes still annoyed by all the sunlight that was coming through the window. Does this stupid place have blinds? I lifted up my leg, which was a lot less work than leaning up, and examined my ankle.

Nothing. Everything was fixed, what a miracle.

I finally decided to look out the window that was letting in all that disgusting sunlight.

Oh a stupid window, right by the bed. What a horrible design plan that a morning person would think up of.

It was a horrible view, just if the neighboring house. I could literally see right into there bedroom.

This side of the house was against a mountain so if I opened the window I could have walked to the other window in like two feet if I wanted too.

And of course there was the prince reading on the bed. That's right the guest house was partiality owned by him so it makes sense that he lived in the next one.

The prince looked up from his book and found his gaze to my window. His mouth parted slightly and he just continued to stare at me.

Blinds down!

Why can't he live in the castle like a normal prestige priss!

I still had the normal clothing on. Better than nothing, sorta.

The room was a cozy type of small. Not something over whelming, but big enough where the double bed could fit without everything being cramped.

The bed had a beige comforter that was pushed on the floor now the sheet along with it. The frame was brown which went nicely with the white walls. Even though the end table was covered with dust, there was still a nice pink rose in a new vase with clear, cool, water in it.

So Sonja was here.

A light blue rug was the only other thing decorating the room except a brown door that must have led to the downstairs.

I opened the door to see a staircase right outside of it as soon as you left. I walked down the wooden staircase. Walls closed off each side of the staircase and only the ruling was nailed on the walls in the stairwell.

Everything was very blank.

Down where the family room was supposed to be was my whole team spread out, sleeping on the wooden floors. They finally were quiet.

I looked around the corner, stepping over Jordan to see a kitchen and a door to what I think was the bathroom.

The floor to the kitchen was a white tile that instantly changed from the wooden floors. I looked into the bland brown cabinets.

Empty, empty-. Why is Tom asleep on the counter?

But right beside where Tom was sleeping was my now fixed watch and a bag of clothing.

Something to change in would be nice.

I opened the door and was right on my prediction that this was the bathroom. Like the house the bathroom was quaint and bland. I wasn't going to complain. It's was the nicest place I have ever stayed in my life.

Whoever got me the clean clothing, probably Sonja, had picked out a black under top and a thicker jacket that was a nice rose gold color. The next part of the outfit, which made me smile, was a pair of denim jeans and leggings for under it. It made me feel like I was back at home.

I stepped out of the bathroom, pinning the upgraded watch back on my wrist and pulled up my hair reaching for my hair tie that I had found in the wooden floor earlier.

The pink was still in my hair, I reminded myself from looking in the mirror earlier. It had overtaken all of my bangs now and the under layer of my hair that was usually a darker tint then my normal golden blonde hair. I hope Jordan never questions my hair. That leads to more questions that I am not answering.

I still had the very thin jacket under my new one. Even if the owner didn't want it I would still like to thank them.

God I have turned into such a pansy, I hit myself on the head, knock it off.

I glanced back up now getting my train of thought back a tad bit, until everyone was gone from the room.

"What the hell guys?!", I said out loud hoping everyone could hear.

I walked out of the house to a pale stoned road.

My eyes opened bright eyed to the bustling little port down. Bakers trying to get there loads in for the day. Fishers sailing out for there next rounds.

Kids were screaming and running around playing some sort of tag.

There were loads and loads of building all cramped together, fitting there way neatly into whatever crevice they could find, no matter what elevation or size.

It couldn't be to hard to find Tom with his bright green mask in this place could it?

I walked around to the back of the house, making my way up the hill to the road that led to the church.

Maybe everyone was trying to stop Tom from stealing from the church. That's something he would do in his free time.

I lifted myself up the wooden bridge and back onto the right path to the church.

No such luck. I couldn't find anybody I knew.

I turned back around. The castle gates are open so I could just cross through the court yard and not be a ditz and try to scale a mountain again.

The court yard was just like yesterday. Castle entrance, open armory, not a lot of color, which sucks. I like color.

"Excuse me ma'am do you need help".

I turned around to the voice that sounded like it belonged to a really bulky man. Deep in a younger sense, but more annoying then scary.

There behind me was a blonde male with blue eyes and a very fake face. He had amor and a sword with him.

"I'm looking for friends, but I can find them myself", I tried to imitate his same fake smile.

"Well a young girl like yourself shouldn't be walking alone in a town like this", he said, still persisting.

I did my sassy eyebrow raise. "This is like the safest place I've ever been".

"You don't need to make yourself look stronger to impress me. It's fine", he persisted.

"Yeah no", I was getting slightly annoyed, "I like killed a god and could kick your ass if I wanted too, but since you caught me in a good mood", I took off my fake smile, "I won't".

I continued back out the way that the priest had taken us through our tour.

I turned at the docks and headed towards the bridge that lead to mainland.

There my team was were stealing apples from the nearby farm. I didn't think much of it at the time.

"You left me!", I yelled.

Jordan whipped his head up from looking into the farmhouses window, and pushed his glasses farther up his nose.

"Sorry kid", he continued to snoop about. "I thought you might want to go back to sleep".

"Is that some type of joke?", I questioned.

"Well", he shrugged, "there was the time that I woke you up early and you almost bit my finger off".

I narrowed my eyes at Jordan, "You know I don't like being woken up, and you knew that then".

I jumped a tad hearing the window slide open.

"You sneaky son of a bitch", I said, pushing him away from the farmhouse window.

"I blame you. You're a bad influence", Jordan said.
