《Mianite: Decay》Part 1-Descend

The blur was gone. I had forgotten what I dreamed. The horror was out of my mind.

I was laying on a cement bed. My spit tasted bland and thick. I felt like I needed a drink of water.

I pushes my long hair out of my mouth.

My legs felt like tingly and dead, they felt like dust laying on the cement ground. I got up and my knees knocked out under me.

"Squeak!".

I fell on the ground with a raspy scream that was a little to girly for comfort.

Everything was cement. Stone walls, hard beds. The strong iron bars with the open cell doors had been spray painted aluminum to hide the rust easily, it made them look like they were carved of rock.

I looked at my legs that I had scraped up from falling. It looked like I had already hurt them from the bandage on my knees. My comforting pink sweater was replaced by a thick white spaghetti strapped top with a jacket that smelled like pine and lavender, and my jean shorts were gone and replaced by black shorts that went half way down my thigh and felt like elastic.

My legs were long, no doubt, and my fingers looked like Sonja except the fingernails were stubbed down and untaken care for. How long was I on the concrete bed. I had a feeling I was asleep for a long time.

"Oh god", Tucker ran out and caught me. I hadn't even realized were I was. I probably looked like I was about to faint.

I shook my head, trying to get my voice to be strong not tired. "Yeah I'm fine. Sorry"

Tuckers eyes got huge. "Your not screaming at me"

I nodded my head no.

"You don't have the urge to scream at me"

I nodded my head no, faster this time.

I looked around and realized I was the last one to have woken up. The rest of them were under the stairs collecting there thoughts.

Sonja gasped ,"oh Hope I didn't realize how pretty your face filled out". She rubbed dirt of my cheek showing her soft side. "Look Jordan she still has her blushy nose and cheeks".

"Is she eight again", he asked looking back at me with that face he has. The one he gave to me when we were jumping.

I shook my leg. "I can't walk".

"I don't blame you", he pushed his glasses up to his nose. "You haven't got used to your new body and you were very reliant on your size with your agility and bow and arrows".

Tom nodded his head. "Mhmm, yes Sparkles interesting tell me more about this", he said sarcastically using Jordan's nickname.

Jordan rolled his eyes. There deal of them never calling him by that nick name again wasn't working for Tom, "Anyway as I was saying we all logically shouldn't be able to walk since we've been asleep long enough for Hope to do that", he stopped talking trying not to say puberty, "That growing up thing".

"Hello", I heard a male voice from outside the door. It was kinda warm but clear and sounded young, maybe 17. "I can't believe your all actually alive".

Tucker left me from his shoulder leaving me to find a wall or something to balance on. They all walked upstairs silently, untrusting like normal.

I was left down on the cold floor. All the adults leaving me out of all the action. Some things just don't change.

Jordan opened the door and talked to whoever was up there. I couldn't see who it was.

All I could see a long skinny shadow. It must have been close to night. Maybe fiveish.

They were talking quietly and Tom and Tucker were freaking out about the door hinges. I couldn't comprehend what was happening. The only thing normal was Sonja tapping her foot leaning on the stone wall.

They walked out of the door without me.

And why is everything still the same and so different at the same time.

"Uh HEY guys!", I yelled trying to get there attention.

I heard Tom swear under his breath.

He ran down the stairs almost slipping.

Tom propped me on his shoulder. "So", he said helping me up the stairs ," This whole growing up early thing isn't going to effect you mentally, right".

I snorted, " Nah, but if I go crazy make sure I'm a badass villain".

He giggled harder than I had at his joke.

I like the word giggle.

I got up to the stairs and got out of the door on my own. The sun hurt my eyes and my vision was foggy. I squinted and leaned on what felt like a stone wall. I heard Sonja faintly say something. Probably talking to Tucker about where the hell we are.

My vision started to clear up and I saw who Jordan was talking to earlier.

He was a teenage boy which was now around my age. Atleast he looked like a teenager, maybe not.

He had brown thick hair with blue eyes. They reminded me like the wolf's at home.

He was pretty scrawny especially if he was a man of power. Unless he stool that crown on his head. He had a black shirt on and two leather strapped holding a holster to hold his sword in.

He kept on staring at me.

I glanced over at Jordan. Jordan crossed his arms. Our telepathy wasn't working.

I waved at him. "Hi, I'm Hope and I obviously can't walk right now".

He didn't say anything.

I probably shouldn't have started out my greeting with a punch line.

"Okay".

I didn't know what to do. I had never met someone my age, especially a boy. It wasn't like he was helping the situation.

"Andor", someone yelled what must have been the guys name.

I turned around and I saw the priest, so we couldn't have been far from home.

Andor snapped out of whatever he was thinking of and turned to look at the priest.

Jordan come over and and dragged me to the side ,"The priest doesn't remember us so stay calm, alright".

I looked back at Jordan. "What the hell do you mean", I whisper shouted.

I think the Prince heard me swear because he was stairing at me again.

Classy motherfucker better get used to it.

"He really doesn't remember you or us, we don't know what's going on", He was trying to explain everything to me, but it wasn't working. I was to confused already

I crossed my arms and tried to stand up without falling and embarrassing myself.

Tucker and everyone was talking to the priest. I think Tom was a little upset that the priest actually didn't remember any of us.

I walked up by my friends trying to fight against the cramps in my knees.

"Ah, glad you join us", this priest sad cheerfully. No denying that is wasn't him. Cheerful and annoying us ever.

"Great, I'm Tucker this is Sonja", he pointed to Sonja who was looking over the wall at the amazing and huge kingdom, "And then we have Hope, and Tom".

He stared at Jordan and everyone knew what was coming, "why don't you introduce yourself".

Jordan sighed, "Jordan Maron".

"Tell them your last name", Sonja said.

Jordan glared at Sonja, "Jordan Maron", he paused and shook his head. I almost thought he was going to cry, "Sparklez".

You already know that when we woke up we were in the jail cell. The jail cell is behind the castle walls. The left wall is to tall to look over, but the right one is where I saw the town for the first time. Follow that path and you find the two main gates out of the castle and the other one that leads to the curch. The main area is where the gaurds in training, train.

The priest shook everyone's hand and then glanced at me. His eyes got huge like he had got to the plot twist of a good book. "No", he said more to himself, "The prophecy can't be true". He held his head in his hand like he was thinking of something. "I didn't realize there were five of you".

We followed him to the church. Tucker looked around if he was staring at heaven. The same way he looked at the Mianite temple.

I wonder if he missed the temple.

The priest got out a dusty book and started flipping through the pages.

I turned around. The Prince was back. I wasn't sure if he could tell that I used to be a thief since he was following me around. Tom always used to say that royalty could tell about that by just hearing you say hi. Then again Tom always lies too.

"Ah ha", I heard the priest yell in happiness ,"Here it is, there is a prophecy that five hero's will fall from the sky and bring the freedom that has been deserved".

The prince's gasped under his breath, but nobody except me seemed to notice.

"Well that's intuitive", Jordan said.

"What the hell does that mean", Tom laughed.

"The scriptures have been translated through ancient languages thousands of times, don't expect it to be literature", the priest said angrily.

"Short and sweet to the point", Sonja crossed her arms ,"I like it".

The Prince was still stairing at me. I looked over at him and did my sassy eyebrow raise that everybody picks on me about.

He glanced away picking at one of the pews, failing horribly trying to act casual.

Yea, great undercover work, I thought to myself, rolling my eyes.

Everyone walked out of the church following the priest.

Tom grabbed a loaf of the communion bread and walked out with the rest of our team.

On my way out, I passed a pew and took a tiny bible out of the pew. The town was already giving me the creeps.

I caught up with everyone. The priest was explaining how we could take one weapon of are choice.

I took a bow with a metallic bowstring. Was not sure how that was going to work, but hey fancy. Sonja took the throwing knives, Jordan took a sword, Tom took the daggers, and Tucker took the two duel wielding swords.

The Prince came out of a closed in armory. He put the box down on the bag. "All that fell was this pink backpack", he held up my poor little backpack.

It had a bunch of dirt on it and looked worn out from age. I raised my hand slowly.

"It's mine". I walked over to the Prince and held out my hand to get my backpack.

He held out the box with his shaking hands.

I grabbed my backpack and unpinned the top.

"A little jumpy aren't you", I joked trying to make a conversation.

"Umm yes I guess", he said. His voice crack on the I guess. He cleared his throat.

I smiled slightly and walked off leaving the stench of awkward.

I sat down on a bench and Jordan sat by me. "What is left", he asked.

I looked through the bag. I shrugged, "just some of my things". My stuffed animal, old pink quilt that came with me in the basket, and a broken shattered watch.

I handed Jordan the watch. He squinted at it. "It ok", he reassured me, "I'll fix it, you'll be able to talk to us at far away distances again soon".

I nodded my head and felt in the grey sleeveless sweatshirt pocket that they put on me. I felt the bible that I had hid in there.

"Do you feel comfortable with all this", Jordan asked.

I looked up at him trying to figure out with what he meant by that. "Comfortable with what, this strange ass town, the fact that I'm now a teenager", I whispered with sarcasm, "And your still all treating me like a child".

Jordan nodded his head yes doing that fake agreeing thing. I was trying desperately to not be catty.

"Sorry", he stood up with his hands in his coat pockets. I must have made him feel really bad. I felt supper guilty.

"Alright, I will now be giving you a tour if you would like", the priest suggested.

I stood over in between Tom and Jordan. The priest didn't really wait for us to answer yes or no, because if we had a choice we would have picked no.

We all started following him around. As he showed us all the houses and the docking area, which I have to admit was very pretty, even though I wasn't paying attention much.

I walked up beside Jordan. "Sorry for being a bitch", I whispered to him.

He laughed a little bit under his breath. "Your joking right". I shrugged. "My sister would just get that way when she didn't get her favorite pair of shoes", he said reassuring me, "you'll be fine kid".

I smiled because I knew he was right. I didn't have much of a childhood back at home as it was.

I stood quietly for awhile until we all stoped suddenly.

"Alright now", the priest shouted, "were going on this ship to the local Cherry Ridge Farms". He glared at Tom ,"Don't brake anything".

Everything was going normal. Tom was already known as the troublemaker.

"The boat seems fine", Tucker mumbled to himself.

"Huh", I asked confused.

"The Prince said when we fell from the sky we landed on the boat, snapped it right in half", Sonja whispered to me.

We walked on the boat. Jordan was observing his glasses. "This isn't the boat we fell on".

I sat on the ledge of the boat. It was huge and Capsize would love to have a boat like this. I missed her as much as Jordan did.

"So, we actually fell from the sky", Tom asked.

"Yea, I think Hope almost drowned", Sonja sat by me.

I looked up at everyone who was dealing with the situation better then I was. I looked into the water. "I almost died", I laughed to myself. "Figured".

****

I glared over at the prince. Was someone that young actually in charge? Was he the one who save me or was it his little minions? To bad I'll never remember and to hell me asking because he already hates my guts.

"Questionable".

"Hmm", Jordan asked.

"Yea nothing", I waved him away.

"Here we are", the priest docked the boat. I almost fell off the ledge.

I got off the boat and walked into the dirt taking the bandages of my knees. They were still on blistered up. I must of cut them on the fall.

I was standing at a farm. On the ground it was some sort of root crop and by the Orange stained wood walls were apple trees.

My luck, I hate apples.

Jordan grabbed one pushing his glasses up on his nose. He spun it around, "Interesting". He handed it to me,"Want one".

I pushed the Apple back to him. "Eww".

I always hated apples. They tasted bland to me and I always noticed the bitter taste of the skin. Tucker didn't mind it though he took a bite out of the apple and handed it to Sonja. My stomach rumbled. I hadn't realized how hungry I was. I went over to Tom and stoll the loaf of bread from Tom, he wasn't paying attention. He was poking a bees nest. Tom was never to bright.

I sat on the wall and shoved the loaf of bread in my mouth.

It didn't seem to help, I still was starving.

My stomach grumbled. I stood up and walked out by the ocean shore that the side of the farm. The smell of apples was starting to make me sick and I minded the smell of mud and sea salt a little bit less.

The kingdom was a port town surronded by a ocean. I spotted a bridge that led to some mainland. I think that's what the farm was on. Which is why we took a boat instead if walking the bridge.

I always imagined a port town as tropical with green palm trees and sand wherever you walked, but it was surprisingly cold here. The shores weren't sand, they were gravel and dirt and if there was sand it wasn't bright yellow and white, it was brown.

I sat down on the grass, still feeling sick to my stomach. My team started walking the other way out of the gate. I quickly picked up my bag and sprinted over to them.

"Guys wait up now", I yelled grabbing there attention before the closed me in. They always forgot about me but when they finally remembered I'm here they would welcome me with open arms.

I guess it wouldn't help that I would always be lost in my mind. Just wandering around until someone woke me up.

I caught up with them and stood by Tom and Jordan where I normally do.

I guessed we weren't taking the boat back.

The farm was on the mainland and the bridge was around 4 yards over to the town. A easy walking distant.

Everyone else was still talking around but I wasn't listening.

I finally tuned in when the Prince came from the bridge again. He wouldn't stop popping up, but I guess it is his kingdom. He wasn't looking at me for once, he was looking at a marble statue at the side of an arched stone bridge.

"Do people usually fall here", Jordan asked referring to how people fell from Mianite.

"Hmm, no you five were the only ones that fell from", the priest paused and turned around to look at all of us," Where do you come from".

"Mianite", Tom said. His mouth was still full of food.

"Ok, you see I have heard of a Mianite, but not a place".

"And we've heard of both", Sonja chimed in.

"Really", the priest turned around from working. Talking with that same high pitch voice. "The grey beard of God".

"It's more of a eggshell", Tucker started talking.

"Yes, well that's actually very interesting". The Prince looked nervous unlike the priest that looked like he was ready to wet himself. "Most people have never even heard of the factor of a God living". He moved his eyes from the ground to me as the adults rambled on.

I had tuned them out again, and glared back at him and he looked back to the grass blushing.

Yea take that. Just because you find a smart blonde you think she's a thief. Well guess what she is and a pretty damn good one so watch out!

"Do you all want a place to stay, or are you all proud survivalist", the priest said in more of a way like he was making fun of us.

"I think that would be-"

"UNNECESSARY", Sonja quickly interrupted Tom having the same thoughts I was. Not owing this town anything.

Tom had a confused look on his face, then Tucker nodded his head yes. "Yea, I agree".

The priest cleared his throat. "Uh, the survivalist thing was a joke. I don't expect you to build your own homes".

"We're not planning on staying long", I said trying not to sound bitter. "Once we find out how to get home, we'll be out of your hair".

"Out of our hair", the priest stammered. "What, no!? But the prophecy-"

"Is probably someone else", Jordan tried to calm him down. "Not to be a downer, but we're hero's of our own place".

"Great way to put it Jordan, let's go". Tucker dragged us away from the priest, pretending to be the leader of the group.

The whole time we walked forwards the priest screamed and begged for us to come back.

Around twelve feet later I heard the Prince yell as loud as he could. "I'd like to hear more soon, so whenever you have time I would love to hear about where you came from and helping you getting home!"

"Oh, jeez", I put the mysterious jacket over my head.

"I think he likes you", Jordan elbowed me whispering.

"Don't even start", I growled.
