Chapter 20-
Why won't you just stay dead?!
----------------
A light breeze flew through my hair, making me open my eyes from resting them. I looked down at my lap to see Nala asleep in it still. The night before I told her everything. My real family and team, what happened on that day and why I should really be in my mid-twenties by now, about my new life as a genin, and all about my new team. To my surprise last night, she took it very well; what’s more, she tried to comfort me.
‘Don’t worry Harmony. Like you said before, we’re partners and each other’s family, so I won’t let anything else happen to you.’
Another small breeze came, making her bell on her new collar chime. I laughed slightly as I remembered how the rest of team 7 reacted to Nala when we got home.
----Flashback----
Naruto, Sasuke, and I, with Nala on my shoulder where almost to Tazuna’s home. Sasuke ended up going to look for Naruto and found us on our way home. When I introduced him to Nala he merely just shrugged and began walking, like he wasn’t impressed. Nala, surprisingly, had a similar reaction. ‘I can see why you said he had an ego. I mean, look at him, and you said that most girls at your village have fallen for him. They all must have something wrong with their heads.’ I ended up laughing so hard at what she said I ended up falling to the ground, making Naruto, and maybe, Sasuke scared. Naruto help me up and asked what was so funny and I merely repeated what Nala said, making Naruto laugh just as hard as I did and made Sasuke glare. I don’t know if it was at Naruto, Nala, or me or just all of us. When we finally got to the house, we found Kakashi doing one finger push ups with Tazuna on his back. Naruto looked at him, and then went to the kitchen to eat, Sasuke went back out to train, and I just stood there letting Nala stare.
‘What in the hell?! What is that guy doing?!’ I told her that that was Kakashi, the man on his back was Tazuna, and the girl with the pink hair that they were talking to was Sakura. I also told her not to be alarmed, Kakashi was been doing one finger push-ups since we were kids, and sometimes it would be me on his back. After Kakashi got weirded out by a cat staring at him, I introduced them all to Nala; well I should say that she introduced herself. To make a long story short. Tazuna fell off Kakashi’s back, Sakura began freaking out, and fell to the ground and Kakashi simply walked up to her said hello and walked away to his room with an orange book in his hand, and ten seconds later after his door closed, there was a soft thud. When we went up to check, we found Kakashi on the floor unconscious.
After we finally got Kakashi awake, Naruto, Nala and I went back out for some more training.
-----End of Flashback---------
I had to giggle again. I was happy that later when I came back to dinner with Nala that everyone was cool with her now, even though she was still laughing at Kakashi about fainting. But what I think shut her up was the fact that when Tsunmi came in, she was the one who gave Nala her red ribbon collar, and I was the one who put the bell one after much thought. Needless to say Nala loves it. She spent a whole half hour in front of a mirror looking at it. I started petting Nala when I heard Sakura and Kakashi in the distance. I picked up the sleeping cat and moved down a few branches so I could hear them.

"Where is Naruto? He left again with Harmony last night, so he should be close by." That was Kakashi speaking.
"He's missing breakfast, plus Sasuke went off on a walk and hasn't come back." And that was Sakura. I looked and saw that they were right beside my tree so I decided to drop down and say hi, and scare the living day lights out of them. I stood up with the now awake Nala on my shoulder and took a step off the branch, landing loudly on the ground. Kakashi and Sakura whipped their heads to where I landed. When the dust cleared I stood up and smiled.
"Hey guys." Kakashi and Sakura looked at me and then looked up, their faces pale for some reason. Maybe the reason was that I fell from about 100 feet? Nala hit me with her tail.
'You could have killed me just there!' I rested a hand on her head. 'Relax, remember I am a chunin, and you’re my family, so I wouldn't let anything happen to you.' I started to walk towards the two of them when some kunia came flying down, making my jump back a couple feet. The kunia ended up landing right between Sakura and Kakashi making all of us look up to see Naruto lying on a branch, and it was pretty high up for Naruto.
"What do you guys think? Look how high I can climb now!!" Naruto yelled down at all of us. Nala looked up as well and her tail started waving around. 'Good for him for getting up that high already...' I shook my head, 'cuz I swear she has a crush on him. I watched as Naruto tried to get up but stumbled backward. I watched as Naruto continued stumbling until it seemed like time slowed down, one of Naruto's feet feel off the tree, Sakura and Kakashi yelled. I looked down at Nala and she jumped off my shoulder. The moment her weight was gone, I was off, running up the tree to save him.
"AWW!!!" Naruto yelled just as I was about to reach him. I jumped and tried to grab him, only to have him re-stick his feet to the branch up-side-down.
"Just kidding!!" I looked down at him and sighed. 'Damn if this keeps up me going crazy or showing the real me to protect this knuckle head, everyone will know something is off.' I sat down on the branch cross legged while Naruto kept laughing. "HAHAHAH! You all fell for it!!"
"YOU SCARES ME IDIOT!!" Sakura yelled up at him, but what was probably going through her head was her saying she was gonna kill him later. Naruto continued laughing until his feet really came off the tree this time!
"STUPID NARUTO! STOP SHOWING OFF!!" Saukra yelled up. I jolted up and run down the tree to try and catch him, but I was stopped short of that because somebody already ran and grabbed Naruto by the ankle.
"You moron." Sasuke said to him as they were hanging upside down.
"Sasuke!!" Saukra yelled like a fan girl. "Yay Sasuke!!! You’re the best!! I sighed and slowly walked down the remained of the tree, and walked to where Nala was waiting for me. 'You know if the duck butt hadn't come in, you would have saved him...' She said to me. I picked her up and placed her back on top my shoulders. I started too walked towards my clearing.
"Nala and I are gonna go train more, so you guys can go back, seeing that you both just found Naruto and Sasuke." I said over my shoulder to Kakashi and Sakura, who both said goodbye and walked in the direction of Tazuna's house again, leaving the four of us to train again.

-------FF------
"ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO COME BACK DOWN ANY TIME SOON?! EVERYONE IS WAITING FOR US!!" I yelled up to both Sasuke and Naruto, because they were both on the top of their trees and where taking forever to comeback down. Nala and I had spent the whole day training, and we found out that she could use chakra, so we decide to try and teach her a few tricks. But because we spent the day training, Nala was dead tired and was lying on my head. When Naruto and Sasuke finally got down, we all started to walk, until they both fell, and then I had to help them walk the rest of the way...
When we finally got to Tazuna's door all three of us were dead tired. You try and pretty much lift two boys and walk that far after a day of training, not easy! We opened the door to see everyone at the dinner table.
"Oh...You guys are finally back." Tazuna said. "What's this? You guys look duper dirty and worn out."
"Hehe... Both of us... made it to the top." Naruto said. 'Training until they are too exhausted to move. What idiots.' I said in my head.
"Alright. Naruto, Sasuke and Harmony, tomorrow you three will also help protect Tazuna-san." Kakashi said to all of us making Naruto jump up in joy.
"Awesome!" He yelled as he punched the air, and then made all three of us fall to the ground with me somehow on the bottom.
"Naruto!" I said lowly, making him crawl away and apologize. I merely stood up and walked to the table and sat down in between Kakashi and Naruto and began eating and talking a bit with everyone there Nala sat down on the ground.
"Hehe, I'm also worn out from today's work. At any rate the bridge is almost complete." Tazuna said, making us all smile.
"Naruto-kun, father, don't overdo it okay?" Tsunmi said as she entered the room and placed some food on a plate on the ground for Nala. Naruto nodded at Tsunmi and rested his head on the table. It was a little silent as everyone ate, but that was okay. When Nala was done her food, (she eats really fast!) she jumped onto the table beside me.
'Hey, that Inari-kid is staring at Naruto.' Nala pointed out. I looked and saw that Inari was indeed staring, no wait glaring at Naruto, with tears in his eyes.
"Why... Why..." Inari said quietly.
"What?" Naruto asked because he had not heard him fully. Inari stood up.
"WHY DO YOU GUYS BOTHER TO TRY SO HARD!! NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRAIN, YOU'RE STILL NO MATCH FOR GATOU'S MEN!! NO MATTER WHAT GLORIOUS CLAIMS YOU MAKE OR HOW HARD YOU WORK. WHEN FACING THE STRONG, THE WEAK WILL ONLY END UP GETTING KILLED!!" Inari yelled at Naruto, making everyone else look at him in shock.
"Whatever kid, I'm not like you." Naruto said coolly, to Inari, making Inari even madder.
"I HATE TO BE LIKE YOU!! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS COUNTRY, YET YOU’RE BEING SO NOSY!! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ME?! I'M DIFFERENT FROM YOU, YOU'RE ALWAYS CLOWNING AROUND AND ACTING SO CHEERFUL, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW HARD LIFE CAN BE!" Inari yelled once more with tear streaming down his face. I look down at Naruto. 'You’re wrong Inari, Naruto knows that first hand.'
"So, it's okay for you to pose as the star of a tragedy and cry all day?" Naruto said to Inari, making him shut up. Naruto raised his head. "Just keep on crying forever you idiot! You little sissy!!" I could see the pain and anger in Naruto's eyes as he said that, but the anger wasn't at Inari though.
"NARUTO YOU'VE SAID ENOUGH! CAN'T YOU SEE HIS IS JUST A KID?!" Sakura yelled at Naruto as he stood up and walked away. Shortly after Naruto left Inari ran out the door. Kakashi stood up to follow him, but I stood up beside him and placed a hand on his should while shaking my head. Kakashi than sat down again as I walked to the door to find Inari.
I found him on the dock looking at the moon and the moon and water. I sat down beside him. "Can I join you?" I asked him in a soft voice, but I didn't get an answer. I sighed and looked out on the waves. "Well, Naruto didn't mean any harm by what he said. Sometimes he just doesn't use his head." I paused and looked sown at Inari. "Tazuna told us about your dad. Like you, Naruto also grew up without a father. Actually he's never known that his parents, or even the fact that he has big sister, and from what I can tell, he's never had a single friend. The truth is, he's had a rougher past than you."
"Huh?" Inari said. "But I have never once seen him cry and complain."
"He's always trying his best to get people to acknowledge him. For that dream he'd risk his life at any time He’s probably tired of crying. He knows what it means to be strong... Just like your father. Naruto may understand your feelings better than anyone else."
"What? What do you mean?" Inari asked me. I turned my head and gave him a smile.
"He doesn't seem to be able to not be concerned for you. And to be honest, I can't either, because I understand you just as much as Naruto does." I gave him a small hug and stood up to walk to the door. Inari looked at me a blushed a little.
"Wait." I turned around to see that Inari had called out to me. He was now standing up and facing me. "You said you understand me also, why?" I gave him a small smile and walked back to him and gave him another hug.
"Because I too had to grow up without my family, and then found out that my sensei, who pretty much took me in, died a few years back, and that my only family left was his son, even if his not by blood. He doesn't even know that he has a sister, even when I am right in front of him, and I can't even tell him. So yes, I do understand you, because I understand the pain that you have." I let go of Inari, and walked back into the house, leaving Inari alone for a little bit.
-------The next day---------
"See Yeah! Please take care of Naruto!" Everyone was standing outside on the deck, ready to go to the bridge. Nala was standing beside Tsunmi because I wanted her to stay so she could keep an eye on Naruto.
"He's pushed his body to the limit. I don't think he'll be able to move today." Kakashi said to Tsunmi. He turned to the four of us of us, counting Tazuna, and gave us a nodded and started walking to the bridge.
----FF---
'W-WATH IS THIS?!" We just got to the bridge and there was people lying everywhere. Tazuna ran up to someone. "What?! What happened?!"
"A monster..." The man he was holding said, before he went unconscious. 'Not a monster, Zabuza.' Instantly, the mist around us began to get thicker. We all stood around Tazuna without kunias out.
"Kakashi-sensei this is... this is his hidden mist jutsu right?!" Sakura asked, but Kakashi didn't reply. I looked at Sakura and Sasuke. Only to see Sasuke shaking like last time, but it wasn't in fear.
"Long time no see Kakashi. You two Harmony, I thought you would for sure be dead now." Zabuza said from within the mist. "I see you're still with those brats... He's shaking again... Poor kid" All of a sudden, There were Zabuza’s water clones surrounding us.
"I'm shaking from excitement!!" Sasuke said to the clones.
"Do it, Sasuke." The moment Kakashi said that, Sasuke took off, destroying all the clones that surrounded us, making them turn into puddles.
"Hmm... He saw though the water clones. That brat has grown." Zabuza said when we were all finally able to see him. "It looks like a rival has appeared... Eh Haku?"
The masked boy beside him nodded his head. "It does indeed." He said to Zabuza.
~~~~:3 Nala's POV :3~~~~
"AHHHH!! I OVERSLEPT!" Harmony's little brother, Naruto yelled as he jolted away. I looked up from where I was laying and watch him as he was freaking out.
'Calm down Naruto. There is no need to freak out so much.' I calmly told him as I stood up. Naruto just ignored me and ran into a room were Inari and Tsunmi are. I sighed and followed him because I was supposed to keep an eye on him.
"Hey! Hey! Where is everyone?" Naruto asked as he frantically looked around.
"Oh! Naruto you're already awake? Kakashi-sensei said that you should rest..." Tsunmi told Naruto as he ran back to his room.
"I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! THEY LEFT ME BEHIND!" He yelled as he quickly got changed. Naruto tried to run out the door but I stopped him.
'Naruto calm down! You cannot leave here! You used up too much chakra yesterday and Harmony told me to keep an eye on you and not let you get into trouble!' Naruto just looked down at me before he picked me up and placed my on his shoulder. I clung for dear life. 'H-Hey! What are you doing Naruto?!'
"I'm taking you with me, because than you can still keep an eye on me, but I can go to the bridge with everyone! I'M OFF!!" Naruto yelled as he raced out the door.
As he was jumping through the trees, he was still pissed about being left behind.
"Damn!!! They should have woken me up!!!"
'Even if they tried, you probably wouldn’t have when they left, you were still too tired. In fact I am surprised that you're moving already. And stop jumping like a frog! It's making me feel sick!'
Naruto was still racing through the trees when we both heard the trees below rustle.
"Huh? What the?" Naruto said before he went down to see what was happening. I took one good look around before I yelled at him. 'Naruto! You have to go back! Tsunmi and Inari are in trouble!'
~~~~~~A few minutes later~~~~~~
'Think cute and stupid. Think cute a stupid.' I was walking down the hallway that lead to the door that held Tsunmi, Inari and two unknown men. I didn’t smell blood so I am pretty sure that no one has been hurt yet. 'Think cute and stupid, so you pull of being an ordinary kitten.'
"WAIT! If you as so much as touch that child, I will bite off my tongue and kill myself! You said you wanted a hostage right?" That was Tsunmi! 'Shit, I got to get in there! Where the hell is Naruto!!' I quickly got to the door and opened it slightly. Inside the room were the two men, one had an eye patch and a lot of tattoos and the other...erm... looked like a clown. I looked down at their hips and saw that they both had katanas. I scanned the room and saw Inari crying in the corner. I ran up to him and prayed that the men didn't hear my bell. When I finally reached him and pawed at his foot.
'Inari, are you okay, is anyone hurt?' I asked him, making him stop crying a little bit and look down at me. Once he saw it was me he slowly shook his head no. I took it as no one has hurt, good. 'Okay Inari, hang in there, Naruto and I are here to get the two of you out! Got that? Stay strong! Nothing is going to happen to you as long as we're here.' I nudged his leg with my head to comfort him. Unfortunately, when I move, my bell makes noise, and the two men heard it this time. They looked down at Inari and saw me.
"Hey were the hell did this kitten come from?" The clown-guy asked. The guy with tattoos looked at me and shrugged.
"I don't know must be their pet. Hey can I cut it?" The clown nodded and the walked towards Inari and me.
'Shit! Where the hell is Naruto?! Inari remember what I said! Stay Strong!' The one with tattoos picked me up by my scruff and looked at me straight in the eyes. I took a chance and hissed at him and swiped at his face, hoping he would let me go. No such luck. The man sworn and held onto me tighter, making me wince.
"You little piece of shit! That hurt! Come on, let’s get out of here." The clown grabbed a piece of rope that was tied to Tsunmi and tugged her up and pulled her out the door, and the tattoos guy followed behind, still holding me.
"Hehe... Looking at that pretty skin makes me want to cut it." Tattoo guy said to Tsunmi. I hissed again and tried to claw at his hands, but only to fail.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
