《Protected by BTS》Chapter 2: Illsan-gu

Adrenaline flowed through your veins. Despite wanting to go back inside for your father, you followed your fathers orders. Your forced yourself to stand up and do as your father instructed. You threw your skateboard on the floor and rode in the direction of the bus station.
It was on the other side of town but your thoughts and your crying got you there in what seemed like mere minutes. You constantly checked behind you, feeling as if you were followed. The paranoia was getting to you. You were too engulfed in your own thoughts and checking to see if anyone was following you that you were amazed that you had arrived at the bus station.
You went to the front desk and looked for busses headed for Illsan-gu. It was getting to be later at night and there weren't too many people here.
You walked to the clerk stating, "Are there any busses to Illsan-gu tonight?"
The man behind the counter scanned through his computer before giving a sweet smile, "You're in luck honey, there one departing in about an hour. There's still some seats left. Did you want it?"
A wave of some relief swept over you. "Yes. Yes! Ah, thank you ahjussi!" You took off your backpack and went to grab some money. You were shocked yet again when you saw the amount of money in there and the gun. Just when you thought your adrenaline died down, it circled your veins as you were reminded of the gun in your bag.
The color from your face drained and it didn't go unnoticed. "Excuse me, is everything alright?" The clerk asked and you tried to play it off.
"Oh? Oh yeah! Sorry, I just remembered something," you took some money out and handed it to him to pay for your ticket, "Anyways, here."
He stored the money and handed you a ticket.
"Hey, you look a little young to be riding this far by yourself. Illsan-gu is a couple of hours away, will you be alright?"
You turned around and nodded. "Yeah! I'm 18 and I've done this many times. I visit someone who lives over there all the time, it's just that i forgot to buy my ticket awhile ago. I'm glad there's still availability." You smiled through the lie.

"Ah, 18. You are still very young but I'm sure you will be alright. Please have a safe strip."
You left him a forced smile before finding a place to sit and collect your thoughts . That's all you could do: sit and think. The hour passed and you were on the bus to Ilsan-gu. On the bus, all you did was sit and think. There were too many questions you had, too many things that didn't add up, too many events that should've never happened yet did.
Did I just lose my father?
You didn't want to think of that. However, he assured you that he's still alive. He did promise you that they wouldn't kill him. Why else would you be looking for this Kim Namjoon?
You had gotten no sleep, obviously.
It was already noon time when you arrived at Illsan-gu. You sat on the nearest empty bench and started to figure a plan. Wanting to count the money, you searched through the contents of the bag. Upon a closer look, you realized your father remembered that he also put his laptop in.
You told yourself that would make things much easier for you. But in total, you had 11 million won.
"11 million..." you muttered to yourself and you felt the color from your face drain once again.
You reminded yourself that you needed to focus. You pulled out the laptop and searched for a cheap hotel to stay for the night, and the coming nights. Easily, you found one not too far away into the city and booked it.
You didn't want to use the money your father had left you in the bag, seeing as though your hacking could get it for free. In this situation, you thought saving money was the safer option.
What was it that father said?
"It's better to do things the right way..."
Screw the right way! I just want you back, appa.
And with that, you headed over to the motel. Luckily for you, it was more rundown and it only took an hour to skateboard there. The service wasn't great but all you needed was a room. With a little acting and hacking, you were able to get the room without photo ID or cash payment. You simply picked up the keys to the room and claimed your father was too drunk and on the verge of a hungover to get the room himself.

You didn't bother to settle in or get some rest, even if you hadn't slept at all during the ride. You were too preoccupied thinking and trying not to cry. But now, you had the resources to hack and look into Kim Namjoon.
Hours had past and you found everything you could on Kim Namjoon. It was actually much harder than you had anticipated. Sure government databases were somewhat tricky, but this man had virtually nothing on him.
Kim Namjoon, 23 year old. Born and raised in Illsan-gu. Very intelligent and excellent marks when he was in school. Resident identification number, bank statements, land titles, credit score, yearly wages, and all the other boring informational data. He's the current CEO of MIK Group, a company he had inherited from his father. Over 30 properties in his name throughout the country.
Oh that makes it soooooooo much easier to find him, you thought sarcastically.
You had put on your glasses which you had thankfully in your sweater pocket that night. You never used it unless you were on the computer, which you always were on. Like reading glasses, they were computer glasses. You had been researching all day and it was almost 8pm. Despite it being a lot of information you hacked through, you were still at a loss with what to do with this information. You thought you'd be able to find more or figure out how exactly you would find him.
But you're just as lost as ever.

You continued to drown yourself in work. You didn't want to take a break because your fathers life was at stake. Also, working like this occupied your thoughts so you wouldn't think about what had happened.
It was a poor coping mechanism.
You had been in that motel room for 30 hours now, typing away nonstop. You allowed nothing to break your train of thought. Nothing did until your stomach growled. You hadn't eaten at all and knew you should go out to look for some food eventually.
You brushed your long hair out with your hands, trying to look any more presentable with clothes you've been wearing for about 36 hours.
Leaving the room and your motel, there were a few other hotels in the area. You did not allow yourself to think about your father or Bong Soon. Instead, you went over the pieces of information that you compiled in your head while deciding a place to buy some food.
You came across a large plaza with a few fancy restaurants, a mall, and some more office buildings. It was a nicer part of the city and your eyes were set on a smaller family owned establishment. There was something familiar and cute about it.
It looked good from the outside and your stomach was growling just imagining what kind of food they could have.
You walked towards the shop and watched as a man had exited. He had blonde, platinum hair and was very tall. You were about to resume your quest for hunger when his tattoo near his collarbone caught your eye.
It was the same familiar tattoo your father had — the one that was a family crest.
Standing there frozen, he fixed his coat in order to hide the tattoo and walked down the street. You watched as he easily darted through people. Your legs moved on their own as curiosity sparked your interest.
This couldn't be a coincidence.
You remembered your father's tattoo and remembered how important it was to him. He never really talked about it, but every time you asked, he smiled. He had always said he would tell you about it another time, and unfortunately you never got that "another" time.
This tattoo meant something to him. This family that had fostered him when he was young had to mean something to him. This isn't coincidental.
Then you decided: You have to follow this man.

8 166The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
