《Protected by BTS》Chapter 1: Kidnapped

The cold, metal cuffs scratched your wrists as you were being suspended from the ceiling. As the train shook, your body swayed with the movement.
You lifted your head and saw the 7 men still looking at you in disgust. You spit some blood out from the last punch thrown to your stomach. Their leader clenched his fists in anger before ordering them to stop this interrogation.
How much lower can I hold up?
Where are we going?
Why haven't they just killed me yet?
Many other thoughts raced your mind but you could only reminisce on the past 48 hours and how everything had changed.
You juggled your skateboard and the boxes of takeout food in one hand as you opened the door to the familiar doctor's clinic. It was already closing time; however the secretary, Bong Soon, was still at the front desk.
Like routine, she didn't bother looking up and already knew it was you. "Good evening, MiSun-ah. Your father is just finishing up with some reports in the consultation room. He should be in his office in a bit."
"Thank you ahjuma! I'll be there waiting for him. You've worked hard, please go home soon!" You said and skipped to your father's office, which was down the hall and behind Bong Soon's desk.
You entered his office, took a seat in his big fluffy chair, and started unpacking the food when your father had barged into the room. He sighed and smiled knowing the normal routine of seeing you in his office after a hard day of work. He took off his white coat and hung it at the door before walking towards you and placing a kiss on your forehead.
"Smells good as always!" He took a seat in front of you and started to unbutton the buttons on his wrist to roll his sleeves up. Thus, revealing the familiar tattoo on his forearm. His tattoo looked like a family crest and your father always proudly showed it to you. It was a family crest of the foster family that took him in when he was younger.
"How was your day?" He asked.
"You ask everyday, and it's the same everyday," you plainly replied at the concern from your father. "I wanted to get ahead again and did all of my work. I basically did nothing all day."
Your father sighed, "Aish, Misun-ah. You need to get out more. But I'm glad your college classes are going well. You aren't cheating your way through your classes again are you?"

Your eyes involuntarily rolled since he brings that up so much. "Appa, if I know how to hack into the school systems and change my grades, doesn't that show how smart I am already." You said with the most innocent face and batted your eyes.
Chuckling, he responded, "I already know how smart you are. You skipped a lot of years of school but you still have a lot to learn if you want to be anywhere as good as me." He bragged and you could only laugh at the true joke.
"No, but in all truthfulness, it's better to do things the right way. I know your abilities and I know you're capable of something as small as hacking to change your grades, but-"
"But, I know, I know. Just because I can do those things, doesn't mean I should. Appa, I'm actually going through my classes this time. That one time was because I hate PE. But anyways, it's no fun to get through them so fast by hacking. Even if it is fun, the material is easy enough to learn anyways." He smiled and pointed, "That's my girl," and you both continued eating in a peaceful silence.
That is, until you heard a high pitched scream.
The scream and cry for help froze both you and your father in your tracks when you realized it was Bong Soon who screamed. You got up from your chair and briskly walked to the door. In a flash, you threw the door open and could see the front desk at the end of the long hallway.
A couple of dark figures in dark clothing surrounded the entrance of the clinic. You could not make out their faces but you could see that Bong Soon was being held at gunpoint by the mysterious group.
Before you can even process it, a loud shot rang out as soon as your brain processed the scene only 30 feet in front of you. As if it all happened in slow motion, Bong Soon's lifeless body fell and blocked the entrance of the hallway. You unconsciously gasped as the pool of blood starts to surround her body. The dark red pool growing larger by the second was burning into your memories.
You were frozen in place.
Your father's hand grabbed you and yanked you back into the room. He grabbed a chair to block the door and locked it. Then your father proceeded to run around the room, searching for various objects but you couldn't focus on anything he did.

You remained a shocked mess on the floor, still in a frozen state. You felt helpless and as if everything was surreal. The beating of your heart seemed to beat too fast as you heard the loud thumps in your eardrums. Despite being able to move, you could feel your limbs shaking and your lips trembling.
"Appa?" You said in the smallest voice possible, forcing it out.
Your father only continued to search his room and frantically place the random items into a nearby backpack. You didn't notice what he threw into the bag because your eyes landed on the office phone.
Just then, the men at the door started to pound on the door to get in. You could hear their forceful kicks and pushes. Out of instinct, your crawled away from the door. You knew the chair against the door wasn't going to last long and you knew you had to act fast.
Your eyes widened and you realized that you had crawled into the direction of the office phone. I can call for help. Your hands started trembling and you picked up the phone but couldn't even press one button before the phone was taken from you and thrown to the other side of the room.
"What the-?!" You instinctively said but your father cut you off. "Misun-ah! There's no time to explain." Appa said calmly and you were confused as to how he could be so relaxed in this kind of situation.
You saw calmness, but in reality he was disappointed. He shoved the backpack he had grabbed and stuffed things in earlier into your hands. You dropped the bag in horror after seeing its contents.
Your laptop, wads of money, and a gun.
"Appa!?" You said in a whisper like shout, all the while the continuous pounding from outside the room continued. Your father picked up the bag again, closed the zippers, and put it on your back.
"Kyoung MiSun. I'm sorry." He said sternly and then all of a sudden had softened his face. He looked about ready to cry. "I-I'm sorry. There's no time to explain and you seriously have to listen to everything I'm about to say."
He paused as you both flinched from another loud slam from the hallway which echoed throughout the office space. You gulped and looked at the door in horror. Your father held your face and made you look him in the eye.
"Kim Namjoon. Kim Namjoon from Illsan-gu. You should be able to find him at Illsun-gu. Don't trust anyone but him. Don't tell anyone who you are." He started to push you to the back door of his office. It was a door that was never used because it was hard to unlock.
Your father struggled to unlock it as you threw a bunch of questions at him. "Kim Namjoon? Wait, why does it sound like you're not coming with me? And why do you have a gun and that much money lying around?! Why do you have the gun?! Why aren't we calling the police? Why-"
You father stared at you seriously, "Do not call the police. I can't come with you. Do exactly as I have said. And don't go home, head straight to Illsan-gu!" He said and finally got the back door to open.
"Dr. Kyoung!" One of the men from outside the door had said in a loud voice. Your father started to panic and grabbed your skateboard from the floor. He pushed it into your hands, turned you around, and pushed you outside.
"Wait!" You started crying. "This is crazy, Appa!" You threw yourself into him and cried even harder. Your father gave in for a few moments, hugging you tight and shedding a few tears as well.
"This is absurd! What's happening!? Why aren't you coming with me? They'll kill you! Why do I have to do all this?!" You couldn't understand.
He caresses your head and you can hear his crying, "I love you. I'm sorry. Don't worry too much about me, okay? I promise that they won't kill me, I have some unfinished business with them. This was bound to happen and it'll be okay, as long as you find Kim Namjoon. He will help, he is the only one who can help. This is all my fault, but I'm trying to protect you from my mistakes."
Before you could even comprehend it, your father pushed you outside once again. "I love you, baby," and time stopped as you stared at his face. His small wrinkles, his glassy eyes, his sad expression was the last thing you saw before he slammed the door shut. Just as it happened, you heard the office door open and knew the men had your father.

An Unbound Soul
When Peter suffers a too-close encounter with a truck, he finds himself reborn in another world. At first glance it is a perfect fantasy land. There's magic to play with, elves singing in the forest and a hyperactive catgirl neighbour. There's even a System that lets him earn skills and level up. But it isn't long before he notices that the world is far too perfect. Just why is everyone so nice? Can Peter accept the alien morality of this world's self-proclaimed protector, or will he seek to overthrow her? Set after the events of A Lonely Dungeon, a few hundred years after the rebirth of civilization, this is a story about an earthling falling into Erryn's new world and the subsequent struggles of himself and Erryn to understand each other. It's a slow paced slice of life, and while there are pieces of action, don't expect any immediate grand conflict between Erryn and Peter. Published here, scribblehub and amazon. Two new chapters a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Empty Valley Cries Unheard
The stories can be read at any order. Phew, this story was finally finished at last! What could I say, it was a hell of a ride when I wrote it from the beginning to end. Thanks for having me on RR :D All the current chapter had already done a run on Grammarly, so hopefully it'd be more readable. ...kinda feeling lazy so calling off the edits for now. A couple of old / new attempts of combining Horror, Comedy and Absurdist elements. I'm not very good at writing Horror stories but I'd like to try once in a while. Although the first chapter may be completely screwed up, believe me--I mostly write fluffy gay scenes between two girls. It would PROBABLY become a lot lighter as we moved up the chapter count. Not for the faint of heart, but if you're like me who like some absurd or nonsensical stories, this might be right up your alley. Sorry in advance if some of the chapters seem normal lol additional tags : nonsense / absurd / parody

A Demon Lord's Reincarnation
Selina’s got a pretty active imagination. When doing math, she pretends that she is a great detective solving a heinous crime! Ordinary tasks, like a trip upstairs, turn into a perilous adventure to raid a dragon’s cave! She believes that life should be full of wonder and magic, and tries to force the world to cope with her conviction! But when Selina wakes up to remember her past life as the Demon Lord, she has to face the fact that real life is messy, and not anything like what she imagined. With ancient powers stirring, family problems, and the hectic life of a teenager, Selina will have to discover more about herself if she is going to survive the trials ahead. With the help of her best friend and a fair share of luck, she might just get through this alive. Maybe. (Updates (hopefully) on Sundays) This story started out as a flipped isekai. Instead of a hero being pulled into a medieval world, a Demon Lord is pulled into the modern world. It has since moved a bit beyond that initial premise but it is the foundation of the work. Along the way, I threw in dragons, elves, dwarves, and some vampires (but no werewolves, gotta nip that in the bud) all wrapped up in the political drama of a modern world. The story, however, will mainly focus on the characters and their development and as such, is a bit of a slow burn. It may take a couple of chapters to get into. You have been warned! (PS, please show patience for the author's notes. They're a bit crazy and don't always make the most sense. The author's a bit of a ditz. Please ignore him.)

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
