I rolled my eyes when a small smile came to my face, putting my phone down when a knock sounded from my door.

"Yeah?" I asked just when someone barged in.

"Where are my headphones?" Raina asked me, cradling her phone between her ear and shoulder.

"I don't know." I said when she started searching through my room.

"I know you took them."

"Why would I take your headphones when I have my own pair of earphones?" I questioned when my phone started ringing.

I looked down to see the infamous Kevin's Caller ID on my phone screen.

"That's a good question isn't it?" Raina muttered, clawing her way through my things as I answered Kevin's call.

"So you're really not going to help me take out the paint from my hair?"

"No. Even if I wanted to I'm not just going to walk out of my house and walk into yours. I have these people called parents."

"So you would help me out then?"

"Kevin. Shut up."

"I feel all of your affection for me in those two words."

"Shut up." I repeated, looking over at Raina who was making so much noise going through my things. I pulled my phone away from my ear to talk to her. "Are you done?"

"Obviously not."she muttered before standing up, her arms akimbo and her face sour. "Wait, Kevin? As in Kevin Reed? The guy on the senior basketball team?"

"What about him?"

"He doesn't seem like your type."

"I don't have a type."

"Yeah you do," She said, pulling out her own to look at something and I watched as she continued speaking while typing on the bright screen. "And a guy on the basketball team doesn't really seem like your type."

I didn't like the way she said that. "What is that supposed to mean?"

She huffed, rolling her eyes. "Forget it. I just want to find my headphones and I was so certain they would be in your stupid room."

"It's not my fault you can't find them."

"Apparently it's not your fault for a lot of things." She mumbled, trudging her way out of my room before I could even say anything.

"Wow, that sounded a little harsh." I heard Kevin say when I put my phone against my ear.

"She's just been weird or something." I sighed, laying on my back.

"I'm not your type?" Kevin asked and I knew that would be the question on his mind.

"Not really." I agreed to Raina's statement.

"What's your type?"

"Not boys named Kevin, don't play basketball and don't annoy me."

"Damn. If I changed my name and played a different sport, would you go out with me then?"

"You'd still be annoying." I pointed out.

"Yes but I'd partially be your type."

"Bye Kevin." I said with a smile.

He laughed. "Bye S."

Sandra: Without my consent

Sandra: better. you aren't even going to ask in person?

Just as I sent that text and walked out of the classroom, an arm was slung around me and steered me in the nearest direction to the exit of the school. "Wanna go get food?"

"You're serious?"

"Definitely." He said with a wide smile.

I considered it. "Alright, fine. Let me just go to my locker to get my jacket."

I handed him my backpack, reassuring the guy that I definitely wasn't about to pass up the chance for someone to possibly pay for my food before heading to my locker.

"Where are you going?" Amelia asked me, opening up her locker next to mine. It wasn't hers at the beginning of the year but she stole it anyway.

"Kevin. Lunch. Outside. You want to come?"

Amelia gave me a look. "S, honey, I have a feeling that he only wants to go with you."

"Um...okay," I didn't think that he would have an issue with . Kevin was on good terms with Amelia. They're in the same class. They talk occasionally. "What do you mean?"

"I mean that this is date."

"Definitely not." I told her, shrugging my light jacket on.

"It's only going to be you two, enjoying each other company," She grinned widely, her hands on her face in excitement. Jheeze, she was more excited than I was. "Like the plaza. It's a date."

"No, it's two friends hanging out. Like the plaza." I confirmed. "Just hanging out."

"Have fun on your date!" She said when I closed my locker and started walking away from her.

"Not a date!"

Kevin and I were eating pizza and he taken the pepperoni off one of my slices when he asked, "How did the job interview go yesterday? I forgot to ask."

"Really good. But I applied somewhere else the other day too. Did I tell you?"

"Yeah, that store near my house right?"

"Yeah, I have an interview for that tomorrow."

"Lady with a job. Making that money."

I smiled. "Yeah, I wanted it. Might as well be productive when I have nothing to do."

Kevin blew his lips in a raspberry taking a sip of his water. "I need a job but I don't have time."

I took a bite of my pizza. "Is it cause of basketball?"

"Yeah. Love the game but gotta work for it. Never stops."

"You play in school and outside of school right?"

Kevin nodded. "Yeah, I have a tournament in America during the weekend."

"You come back on Monday?"

"Yeah," He corrected then grinned. "Don't miss me too much."

"Don't worry about it. I won't."

Kevin dramatically slouched into his chair, making me laugh. He smiled at that, sitting back up and looking at me. "How's everything? Like friends and family. Besides Raina we know how Raina is."

"That's true. Nothing new really. I mean Amelia is talking more to Emil that I thought she would be."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean she was completely down when they broke up, they didn't talk and then suddenly they're back on talking terms."

"What kind of talking terms? Like back-to-a-relationship talking terms or just friendship talking terms?"

I thought about it, replaying what I've seen in the past week. "Friendship. Yeah, friendship."

"Huh, kind of like us."

"It always comes back to the topic of us," I paused, shooting him a look. "Doesn't it?"

Kevin smiled, stretching in his seat. "Oops. Continue."

"It's none of my business but I'm just kind of concerned about her."

"Of course you're concerned," He ran a hand through his hair. "She's your best friend. Talk to her about it if you can."

Hm. I stared at him and he gave me a confused look back as if there was something on his face. "Thanks for the advice, Kev."

"No problem, what are friends for? And Kev? Is that really the nickname we're going with?"

"It better than K-Dawg." I muttered.

Kevin laughed. "K-Dawg is a legendary name."

I rolled my eyes, trying to hold back my laughter at the way he said it but cracked a smile anyway. It's a good thing he's cute.
