《Byakuya X Reader》❄️Singer's demise❄️

I sat down next to Byakuya at the table as I started to eat my breakfast. I felt happy, but also sad. I knew it could be our last moments or anyone's in the schools. At least one person was going to die, and I felt my face drop.
'You were smiling a minute ago, what's wrong?' He raised an eyebrow.
'It's just, someone's going to die, wether it's one of us, or all of us,' I sighed, poking my food with my fork.
'How many of these people would actually care if you died? You saw how they all acted once they found out you were a hitman,'
'I still have some friends, like Celeste and Sayaka! Plus, I have you,' I smiled softly. 'But, I don't want to have to step into that trial room again. Someone tells me it's just going to get worse,'
'Worse as in harder? Or worse as in harder to cope?' He questioned.
'Both, probably, I mean, the last one was easy, but the first trial, that was difficult,' I frowned.
He was silent for a moment before replying, trying to find the right words to say 'Don't worry...' He frowned 'We'll get through this together.?' He was hesitant.
I laughed. 'You've never really had friends, have you?'
'You're not my friend,' I could see the faintest hint of a smile on his face.
'I know,' I smiled.
Before we could continue talking, the doors to the cafeteria burst open and in came four people. Sakura, Celeste, mondo and Hifumi. The four sleeping students. My heart and face dropped as I saw them, as did most others.
'We know we were meant to be asleep, but we all woke up,' Sakura started to speak. 'Which only means..'
'One of us is dead,' Kirigiri finished.
'The only people missing are.. Sayaka, Makoto, Taka, Hagakure and Leon,' Mondo scanned the room. Only me, Byakuya and Kirigiri were present when the four arrived in the cafeteria.
'We have to go look for them!' I stood up quickly, fear in my eyes. 'If there's been another murder then the quicker we get there the more of a chance we have to catch them!'
'We have a killer on the loose!' Hifumi shook in fear.
'Let's go, before something else happens,' Celeste instructed as I grabbed onto Byakuya's arm, pulling him out with me to go and search for the missing students.
'Try not to get separated from whoever you're going around with. The murderer could strike again,' Mondo pounded his fists as she looked down, I noticed a look of worry on his face.
'Yes, yes, come on, Y/N,' Celeste pulled on my arm, taking me with her and away from Byakuya. I looked back at him to see him silently nodding at me, smiling slightly. It reassured me, but still, I didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
'Let's search the 3rd floor first, and move our way down,' She instructed as she pulled me up the stairs behind her, I was struggling to stay on my feet by how fast she was running.

'Hold on! Slow down!' She wasn't the same as when we first entered the game anymore. She knew how much it all meant now.
'We don't have any time to waste, we must hurry,' I looked up at her eyes, there was a fierce look of determination in them. I nodded slightly as she continued going upwards. Once we arrived she pulled me into the lab and we quickly scoured around before quickly looking into the storage room and then heading onwards.
By the time we reached the classrooms, the pit of dread in my stomach felt as if a monster was about to emerge and kill us all. I was so scared, so frightened. There was a chance, it was Sayaka, we but she had been so nice to me even after she found out my secret. She had comforted me. Was I about to loose another friend? But, as we checked the classrooms, no bodies were in sight.
'It must be on a lower floor, I wonder why no one's found it yet,' She said as we walked down the stairs to the 2nd floor. But before I could reply, Taka came running out of the library, pure fear on his face.
'Taka, are you okay?' I walked over to him, placing my hand on his shoulder.
'I was just, walking around, trying to find the others with Mondo since he found me and we found her...' He looked petrified.
'Take us to her,' Celeste instructed. Taka nodded slowly before taking us into the library and past a few bookshelves.
I gasped in horror as I looked at the scene before me. Sayaka hung there, in the air, a rope tied around her neck and a chair knocked over on the ground. She looked emotionless, lost, gone. Before I knew what I was doing I was climbing onto the chair trying to get her body down as the body discovery announcement played.
'Y/N, no,' Celeste pulled me back before I could do anything. I felt tears falling down my cheeks as I looked at my friend. There was no way this was a suicide. Whoever killed her, would pay. She was so kind and sweet, she didn't deserve this.
Before long everyone else had gathered in the library. I had stopped crying but only because I had run out of tears to cry.
'Sayaka...' Makoto whispered as he looked at his friend.
'Sakura, Mondo. You two are on guard duty again,' Celeste continued to instruct. She was really taking charge of the whole situation. 'Everyone else, investigate,' she took my hand. 'Come on, Y/N, let's find the killer,' I quickly looked over at Byakuya who was glancing my way as he inspected the crime scene.
'I- I don't.. I don't..,' I felt unsure of what to say. I wanted to stay by Byakuya but I didn't want to leave my friend alone.
Celeste quickly glanced around before pulling my away and behind some bookcases. 'What is wrong? You haven't been acting like yourself all day,' She placed a hand on my shoulder.

'Nothing, I'm fine,' I brushed her hand off of me.
'Did he do something to you? Did he hurt you?' She looked round the bookcase to Byakuya.
'Byakuya? What no! He would never hurt me,' I sighed 'Celeste, you're over thinking. Let's just, get this over with,'
'I don't trust him, Y/N. He's a cold hearted bastard,' She glared at him. I felt my heart drop slightly.
I walked over to Sayaka's body which had now been lowered onto the floor by Mondo and Sakura. I noticed as Byakuya crouched next to me. 'What do you make of this, "forensic scientist",' he smirked before looking up at me.
I quickly looked over at the body, examining her arms, neck and head. 'There was a struggle, she has scratch marks on her arms. If I did a further investigation, I would probably find skin cells under her fingers-nails belonging to the killer, but we don't have the time. She died from her neck snapping when the chair was knocked over,' I sighed.
'Then this was a murder after all,' He stood up, offering his hand to help me get up, I took it appreciatively.
'Y/N, all our suspects are, Leon, Taka, Makoto and Hagakure. Oh, and Sayaka, she still could have been responsible, we can't rule that out,' Celeste took my arm, glaring at Byakuya as she pulled me away. 'The rope is probably from the storage room so let's check there,' I looked back at him to see him smiling slightly while shrugging his shoulders. I smiled painfully as I was dragged away. I wanted to investigate him but Celeste was being... very motherly.
I searched through the boxes in the storage room, stumbling through the ones that were out of place, before I stumbled upon one full of rope. A pair of scissors were inside and I noticed that the rope had been roughly cut off. As I investigated further, I found a long strand of brown hair. However, I thought nothing of it.
'Find anything?' Celeste asked me as we walked out.
'I found where the rope came from, that was about it,' I shrugged before I heard a voice behind me.
'Y/N,' I turned around to see Byakuya holding a piece of paper. As he handed it to me, I realised what it was. It was Sayaka's secret. 'I'm guessing the killer used this as a reason for their meeting. I also, found this on Sayaka's body, in her pocket,' He pulled out another note with neat handwriting.
I read the secret, it was a list of bad things she did to become an idol. It was horrible, but still, my secret was a lot worse than hers. The other note however was from the killer.
Sayaka, I know your secret and I want to talk about it. Meet me in the library after breakfast, come alone
Unfortunately, the killer hasn't signed it. 'Thank you, Byakuya! This is really helpful!' I smiled at him, and I noticed his cheeks turn red.
'Hm, you may have helped us this once, but I don't trust you. I advise you stay away from Y/N,' Celeste suddenly moved in front of me, glaring at byakuya.
'Celeste, What are-'
'Y/N, I don't trust him. I don't know wether he hurt you or whatever, but he will stay away from you,' She held me back before I could go towards him.
Byakuya just looked at her coldly. 'You want me to stay away from Y/N? You're aware she's the one who bothered me first,'
'I don't care,' She spat, but I continued trying to push past her.
'Celeste, stop it!'
'Celeste, move out of way. What me and Y/N do is none of your business,' Byakuya tried to move her out of the way, but she wouldn't budge.
'No, I won't let you hurt her,'
'Celeste! Stop it. Just stop!' I pounded on her back. 'Just leave him alone!'
'Y/N, I will not let him hurt you,' She glanced at me. I felt tears filling up my eyes.
'He won't hurt me.. please Celeste.. I..' I sighed before continuing 'I love him,' I looked over Celeste's shoulder at Byakuya, smiling softly at him.
'You what?!' She turned around furious. 'You're not serious!'
'I am serious! If you can't accept that then... maybe I shouldn't be investigating with you,' While her guard was down, I moved past her and took ahold of Byakuya's hand.
'You and.. and.. him?!' She exclaimed as he held my hand back, squeezing it tightly.
'Celeste, I advise you leave us alone now,' He glared at her.
She quickly glared at both of us before turning around a storming off.
'Are you alright?' Byakuya turned to me.
'I.. I think so,' I looked down at the ground.
'Let's continuing investigating and afterwards we can read a book... or something,' He shrugged.
'I'd like that,' I smiled gently as we started to walk off.
'For now, I think we should investigate everyone's dorms. See if we can find something with their handwriting on,'
'Good idea, but we should go ask them all first,' He nodded at me.
We asked everyone and they agreed as long as they stood by, making sure we didn't do anything. As I looked around and compared each individuals hand writing to the note I became certain of who our killer was.
'I've got it,' I said to Byakuya's as we walked back to the library before whispering the killer's name into his ear.
'This will be.. fun,' he smiled.
