《Byakuya X Reader》❄️His motives❄️

'Byakuya...?' I looked up at him. I was frozen in fear, I couldn't feel my heart beat. I couldn't feel anything.
'What are you... what are you doing out here?' He hissed at me. His face changed from shock to anger.
'What am I doing? What are you doing?' I edged away from the knife. 'You said you wouldn't kill,'
'Go back to your room!' He lowered his knife.
'You didn't answer my question,' I clutched the box of cookies in my hands as I felt my muscles tense.
'I don't see why I should,' He scoffed 'I.. I don't have to answer to you,' Byakuya looked away from me.
'You said yourself that murder results in death for both the killer and victim, so what are you doing?' I frowned while looking up at him.
'This is none of your business!' He hissed.
'None of my business? You're holding a knife and I almost just died because of it!'
He sighed before putting the knife in his pocket. He pushed his glasses up before crossing his arms and looking down at me. 'I wasn't trying to kill you,'
'Just tell me what you're doing!' I stood on my tip toes, trying to intimidate him.
'I was...' He frowned before continuing 'I was going to kill... someone,'
'Why? In hopes of escaping? You said yourself that's impossible! Besides, if you were going to kill, why didn't you kill me! I swear, you make no sense,' I scoffed.
'I wasn't going to kill to escape, I knew I would be caught if I did... I just,' He sighed before rubbing his temples 'I don't need to explain myself to you,'
'Come on! I'm asking you as a friend,' I moved closer to him, placing my hand on his shoulder.

'If no one kills, everyone else will die,' He said, looking away from me.
'Since when do you care about everyone else's life?' I laughed slightly.
'I..' he turned his head back to face mine. Even in the dark I could still see the red in his cheeks. 'I only care about my... friend's life,'
'Your friend? Do you mean me?' I smiled slightly.
'Shut up,' He said quietly while looking into my eyes.
'I didn't think you cared about me,' I laughed before I was cut off by him.
I felt his lips against mine briefly before he pulled away. I felt my cheeks turn scarlet and my eyes widened. 'Did.. did that just happen..?' I said quietly.
'Like I said, I care about my friend,' He smiled slightly.
'You're really strange, you know that?' I laughed, looking into his eyes.
'I could say the same about you. You should go to sleep now, I don't want anything to happen to you,' He looked away from me.
'Just.. don't kill anyone,' I pecked him on the cheek before walking away and back to my dorm.
I laid in my bed, eating the cookies I had gotten. I still couldn't believe what had just happened. Although, I couldn't lie to myself, I liked it. I liked him. When I first met him, he was cold and distant, but after I learned his secret, we had grown closer. I curled up in the blankets, smiling to myself as I fell asleep. I just hoped I'd be able to wake up in the morning to see him again.

'Hey! Y/N!' I turned around to see Aoi waving at me, a huge beam on her face. Sakura was standing next to her. Both of them were carrying duffle bags for the gym.

'Hey Aoi, Sakura,' I smiled slightly.
'Are you ready to work out?' Sakura asked, looking down at me.
'Sure am,' I smiled as I looked in my duffle bag, pushing the gun I had used to the bottom of it.
'I still can't believe you actually agreed to this. You barely do anything with others. You really only hang out with Junko and Mukuro or with your old class,' Aoi laughed.
'I've known them for a long time. I'm not very.. experienced with making new friends,' I shrugged as we walked into the gym.

I woke up to the all too familiar Monokuma morning announcement. Aoi... What was up with these dreams? They were so weird, yet felt so real.
Byakuya. I felt my heart thump, I had almost forgotten what had happened last night. I needed to check that he was okay. I quickly leapt out of bed, throwing on my clothes before walking out into the hallway. Lots of people were around, but a few were missing. Sakura, Celeste, Mondo and hifumi were all missing, asleep.
'Is everyone okay?' Kirigiri asked as she left her door open. 'I advise to keep your door open in case you fall asleep and someone has to take you to your dorm,'
'We're okay,' Sayaka tugged on the cuffs of her clothes while looking at Makoto.
'If someone died, everyone would be up currently. So, we can say no one has died, yet,' I heard Byakuya say from behind me and I felt my heart skip a beat before I turned around to look at him.
'Let's try and go by the day as normally as possible,' Kirigiri continued before she walked away.
'Good morning,' I smiled at Byakuya 'Thanks for not.. murdering anyone?' I shrugged awkwardly.
'I won't do it.. for now. Unless, it's the only option left,' He looked away from me, his cheeks were red.
'We should go eat breakfast though,' I grabbed his hand, pulling him through the hall to the cafeteria. I felt myself smile as he followed me, his hand on mine, feeling the warmth and comfort of having him with me.
Even though we were in such a dark place, a dark game, we were smiling.

Frameshift
Magic. Math. Not a whole lot of context. Two months ago, I was a wormhole navigator, ripping open a hole in the universe to save a ship of people who only vaguely tolerated me. Two weeks ago, long story short, I threaded an impossible path through the void between dimensions to crash-land into a dungeon. You know the kind: monsters to defeat, corridors full of traps to avoid, and magical powers to earn. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been two weeks of loneliness, fear, adrenaline, and constant injury. But I'll make it out of here by myself if I have to, or my name isn't Adam Leviathan James. ... too bad the Levi doesn't stand for Leviathan, huh. AN: Expectations should include in medias res, violence, smut, friendship, and powers/progression systems with absolutely an insufficiency of context and (at least at first) no definitions or explanations, and magic-as-programming/engineering (with something of an emphasis on "what if magical runework were an analogue to circuit diagrams"). This story used to be called "Yet Another Godsforsaken Isekai". Discord server: https://discord.gg/dHh3XMMB4T Cover by the amazing Daedalus of The Way Ahead.
