《VIKING PRINCESS》Chapter Seven

She had woken to her brothers getting on their horses. "When shall you be back?" She asked Ubbe ignoring Sigurd. "Soon." He said smiling as he mounted the horse. "Oh, and Sigurd I forgive you." She told him then he hugged her as to say thanks. "now go on." She ushered them to go. She waved to them as they left as they turned back once to wave at her.
She went back I to find her mother now sitting at the table. "Hello, mother." She said smiling lightly as she sat to join her mother. "your brothers have left?" Her mother asked as she ate and Grace nodded. "Now it's just us." She told her mother knowing that they would spend time together getting dress or so. Her mother nodded taking a sip from her cup.
She left her mother so she could get dressed and as she did she thought of her brother. She pondered what they could be doing at the moment with Lagertha. She stayed because if she was gone who would take care of her mother. She always took care of her mother even at the age 5.
She always wanted to be like her mother when she grew up, a Queen. She walked out of her room and her home to go to the market. When she did she saw people charging and killing other people. She was about to get stabbed when "Not her!" She heard a voice yell and it was Lagertha. She wondered where her brothers were.
Lagertha took the girl by the hand and dragged her to a closed shop. "You will stay here." "please don't hurt my mother. I want her safe." She told Lagertha but Lagertha didn't met the girls eyes but only nodded. She didn't want to see this little girl hurt and broken. Grace stayed there as others were killed that she couldn't see and all she thought about was her mother.

She saw a crowd gather after the fighting stopped. She walked out to look and she stood in the very back but was able to see everything. She saw her mother and Lagertha talking. "and I have given him those sons and a daughter. I am as much part of his saga, Lagertha, as you are. But know I renounce everything." Her mother said looking into the crowd and looking her in the eyes with a soft smile. The smile that reassured her when she was scared or had a bad dream or was even sick.
"All I ask is safe passage. All I ask is that you let me leave here in peace, to go wherever the gods decide. And you shall have back your hearth and home. With my blessing. And my children, When they hear how it was done, will be grateul for the manner of it And not seek revenge." "I understand." Lagertha said as she let Aslaug pass through and her mother said thank you. She smiled thinking her mother was safe and sound now as she watched her leave.
But she felt her heart drop as she stopped smiling to see her mother pierced with an arrow. She turned not wanting to see anymore and ran into the forest. Once she felt far enough away she screamed and screamed as she cried. She couldn't stop crying as she remembered that Lagertha said she wouldn't hurt her mother. She curled up against a tree wanting her brothers around to reassure her everything was fine.
As for Ubbe and Sigurd they wanted to know if Grace was okay and safe. And she slowly walked out of the forest with tear stained cheeks and covered in dirt. She was right away pulled into the arms of Sigurd and Ubbe.

They had never seen her so broken over anything. Ubbe pulled away and checked her only to see that she was fine. He wiped away her tears that started to fall again.
They walked into their home with her being cradled in Sigurds arms as Ubbe was to angry. "Where's our mother?" Ubbe asked even though it was painfully obvious because of Grace. "She's dead Ubbe. I killed her." She said as if she didn't have a care in the world. "Why?" "She took Kattegat away from me. I wanted it back." Ubbe then drew his sword and Sigurd let go of Grace to stop Ubbe "Why didn't you also have us killed?" "This was nothing to do with you. You are Rgnar's sons and daughter. It was not your fault that your father was bewitched."
Ubbe then raised his sword "It was a mistake not to kill us." "That's a chance I was prepared to take." Lagertha said looking towards Grace as her eyes softened only for a moment. Ubbe was too angry to be reasoned with so when Sigurd tried to stop him he was pushed. She was now stood closest to the door. Ubbe then rushed to fight as he was beyond mad. Once they had let them leave she rushed over to Ubbe and put a hand on his face, but her hand was then slapped away.

Lost In Translation
If you're one to travel the roads, you may have heard of me. You may have heard my Names in the stories, the songs, and the whispers of the road. Perhaps you've even seen me during my travels, speaking to a bird of blue light, or on a city street, performing small acts for coin and repute. Or perhaps you may know me as the Skystrider, who walked with the wind. Or the Voiceless, a man of song without speech. You may know me as the Tutor, who taught the Lion of Summer how to fight, or the Traveler, who has walked all the roads of the earth. I am all of these things. And people have branded me a myth. But people don't understand what a myth is. They haven't heard the songs lost to our tongues, nor have they seen the things I've seen. They haven't gone to the places I've gone. My feet have walked the plains, the seas, and the clouds. I have spoken languages unspoken; tongues lost to time. I have sung to the earth, held the moon in my arms, and walked the roads that your heroes hesitate to even mention. I have outwitted Demons. I have danced with the Fae. My songs have been heard by lords of wind and ash, and my steps have echoed in the bellies of gargantuan beasts the likes of which you have never seen. These are what real myths are. And me? I'm no legend. I'm just the bard stupid enough to poke the real ones with a stick. Discord link here. [Disclaimer: Book 1 of this story will likely be published in KU by around the start of 2022, so please keep that in mind. Book 2 and onwards will continue here until they are published as well.]
