When her brothers finally sat down she went over to Ubbe. "Why would you do that, Ubbe?" she asked him as she inspected the cuts on his face "sister, she killed our mother." He told her as she moved herself to sit in the chair beside him. "How was it done?" Sigurd asked but she knew he didn't care he only was curious. "She was shot by an arrow in her back. She saw me and smiled at me then she was shot." She told her brothers trying to keep the tears away.
"Let's go and do it now. Let's go to the great hall and let's finish her off." Ubbe said to Sigurd as she put her head down onto the table. "if you want to do it, then do it. But count me out." "What are you talking about?" Ubbe asked Sigurd as he just shook his head. "She wouldn't have done it for us." Sigurd said with a scoff. "shut your mouth, Sigurd! You weren't there!" She shouted at him as she got up and walked out getting annoyed by her younger brother.
No matter how much she loved Sigurd and took care of him she was mad. She left because she was afraid she may hurt him. She forgave him for everything he said and did. She saw Ubbe walk out annoyed but he stopped in front of her "get some sleep." he told as he laid a kiss to her forehead. "I shall, brother." Her face was neutral as she spoke the words. She had no emotion left after her mother.
"Sigurd, go get some sleep." She told her brother as she opened the door and he got up. He nodded to her as he walked over "I love you, sister." He said to her and walked out knowing she wouldn't say it back. She stayed in the room and put blankets down. She couldn't go back home due to not seeing her mother.

Once she fell asleep her dreams turned from happy to her mothers death. She relived it all in her dream, her mothers smile of reassurance to her hitting the ground by arrow.
Her eyes opened as she let out a scream. None of her brothers around to help her through it as they did or even her mother. She stayed up the until dawn broke.
"We have got Ivar." Sigurd said as he opened the door to see her huddled into a corner. He walked over to her and got her up knowing she would be happier with at least Ivar. She nodded as she let him help her they went to where he was sat.
"Where is our father?" Sigurd asked him as she went to sit in a chair beside him. Her face showed no sign of happiness which bothered Ivar. "Where is Ragnar?" "King Ecbert handed him over to King Aelle, knowing that Aelle would kill him." She sunk down onto the table knowing her father was dead as well as her mother.
"Why would he give him to Aelle?" Asked Ubbe as Ivar continued "It doesn't matter now. Our father is probably dead by now. And we will have to avenge him. That is all that matters." Ubbe sighed and rubbed Grace on the back knowing how said she was. All she could remember were his last words to her "I am leaving. We haven't had time together and I am sorry for that. But know that I love you, my dear daughter." and with that she teared up again.
She looked up to see Sigurd move onto the table "we have something to tell you." "Ubbe? Grace?" She looked towards Ivar whose eyes moved from her to Ubbe then to Sigurd who spoke "Mother is dead." "Its true. Grace saw it. Lagertha killed her. Lagertha is now Queen of Kattegat. And mother is dead." She got up and went to him and out a hand on his shoulder "we will avenge her." She told him as he put his hand on hers. Once Ubbe and Sigurd left she stayed behind.

"It will be okay Ivar. Just trust me." She told him as she patted his shoulder and he nodded to her. She left the room to the forest to where she went with her father. When she was little Ragnar would try and teach her archery. When she failed at that he went to the sword. She learned quickly how to use it. They would spare together if he was free and her mother never knew.

8 652Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Meanwhile, have some Slice of Life.) Updates every Friday Cover made using Waifulabs Written using 4thewords (referral code: UZJRY55368)
