《Whodunnit 2》Chapter 7 - Ocean's 11

Giles read out of the riddle for the remaining eleven guests..
"Submerged I watched Paul take his last breath, watching the plumber fall to his own death. Decipher the clues from the three areas, they will be key. You'll need this equipment for when you go undersea."
The group of eleven immediately split up. The two groups went in different directions.
The group of Jeremy, Troy, Brett, Colton, Chantal & Kristina immediately went out of the resorts front doors and headed for the seafront by the boat docks.
"See anything Kris?" Troy whispered to his sister as the group of six started digging through the sand just before the wooden dock started.
"Nope. Maybe we need to actually get in the water." Kristina made a good point, the word submerged in the riddle would have suggested that the group would need to get into the ocean.
Chantal & Brett didn't waste any time rushing into the hot ocean. On any other situation, they would probably be relaxing right now. But this was a riddle, so they needed to search for their lives.
After a while, Chantal & Brett got pretty deep into the sea. With my goggles or any type of swimming equipment, they couldn't really search that well and decided to head back. Kristina, Jeremy, Troy & Colton met them back at shore.
"Maybe it means submerged like in one of the pools. Not the sea?" Colton suggested an idea next.
Jeremy took a confident nod. "That's a good suggestion."
It didn't take long for the group to go to the nearest pool, the one at the back of the main resort. Just like the Rue Manor layout, it was behind the dining room.
-
However, unbeknownst to the majority group, the female alliance plus Mary & Mike had already tried that pool and were traveling to the pool which was behind the buffet building of the resort. However, there wasn't any progress there either. Being stuck with the riddle was definitely holding the team back.

Another factor which was holding the team back, was Mary. Kendra was a little bit tipsy, but Mary was full out inebriated. The oldest guest could barely walk. She often had to have Mike support her up with the help of Grace also.
"Keeping Mary with us is going to kill us, literally." Cecilia kept her whisper low as she approached Grace's right ear while the author was holding up Mary.
Grace knew that the mother was right. They were holding back a dead weight with Mary.
Mike knew this too. As the group passed one of the self service bars, they made the tough decision of leaving Mary on one of the stools. The remaining four then ventured off to another area.
-
Brett took the lead in searching in the pools. He definitely took charge in ordering around the team. He made sure the team left no stone un-turned. However, after twenty minutes of searching, nothing was found. Panic was starting to set in.
"How have we not found anything!" Jeremy was pretty much furious at this point. Being a man of power in his everyday life, the director was not used to being in a place where he couldn't take charge.
"We just need to think on the positive side." Kristina was the optimistic one in the situation. She was used to dealing with frustrated males, just like her brother. She knew it didn't always work but it was worth a shot in hopes of trying to boost morale.
"Maybe we could find the others and just follow them around?" Chantal was next in making a suggestion.
Brett shook his head "There's no way they would share information with us."
Still lounging around one of the resorts many pools, the group had pretty much given up.
"Looks like two of us are getting scared tonight." Troy had already accepted defeat.
"Yeah." Colton's response was just as somber in tone.

Basking under the Caribbean sun, a group who had once gotten off to such a good start, was starting to crumble.
-
After a few more minutes of traveling around the resort, Kendra had had enough.
"Look, lets just go over the riddle again please." Kendra stopped in her tracks to take her slight anger out on what she had been thinking since the beginning.
Mike agreed with Kendra and read out the riddle he had scribbled down from his notebook.
"Submerged I watched Paul take his last breath, watching the plumber fall to his own death. Decipher the clues from the three areas, they will be key. You'll need this equipment for when you go undersea."
Grace harped down on the 'equipment' section of the riddle. She tried to think of what equipment you would try and wear undersea. And then it hit her.
The author thought back to the first day, when arriving on the island she walked down the wooden docks and noticed a small shed. The thirty-seven-year-old could remember that the shed door was slightly ajar. Inside she saw what she thought was scuba diving equipment. Even if she was wrong, Grace knew it was worth a short and alerted her team to try there.
The group took a tennis buggy which was randomly parked by the buffet building to get to the front of the resort where the sea shed was.
Once the group of four got there, they knew they were in the right place.
There were eleven suites of scuba diving equipment, head to toe of diving equipment. There was also an oxygen tank attached to each of them.
Once the group entered, an automatic voice spoke through a speaker.
"Put on the equipment, lift the hatch and follow the rope to the designated spot."
After about ten minutes of trying to get the equipment on, Cecilia, Grace, Kendra & Mike finally entered the sea. They soon found a nylon rope, which was going out to a pretty far distance. Having their oxygen tanks as guards, the group could safely go underwater and follow the ropes path.
Mike reached the end first. He immediately noticed the 'mark' was actually where the small sailboat had capsized in the last known whereabouts. However, something was different, there was a small diagram which was placed on a pike which was attached to one of he coral reefs nearby.
Soon, the other three female guests got to the same placement as Mike and carefully analysed the diagram.
It was in a storyboard type setting of diagram. It was split into four different boxes.
The first box depicted how the engine of the sailboat was mechanically constructed to cut out at a certain distance. The second demonstrated the killer under the boat, with a gun pointing to the bottom of the boat. The third box had the boat sinking with Paul clinging onto his foot. The police officer suddenly remembered how on the way to the buggy, Cecilia shared how Paul had a foot wound. So Mike had the theory that the bullet actually hit Paul's foot from where he was standing. The last image on the board had Paul supposedly drowning. A much more simplistic death than he thought at first.
Once the group were confident they had finished with the area, they came back to shore. As soon as they did, the bell rang. They had solved the riddle.
The group of Cecilia, Kendra, Mike & Grace all celebrated on the shore as they realised they were safe. No matter what, not one of them would be killed next.
That couldn't be said however to the majority alliance. As the six had no idea how Paul really died. They were confident one of them was going to be the next dead.
