《Another War》Chapter 1 : The Fates Give Some Bad News

A very beautiful woman walked towards a man who had his back turned towards the lady and Aphrodite.

The lady looked ageless.

She was dressed in a sparkling, silver, long and flowing gown with thin silver straps across her shoulders. She had sharp features and bright silver eyes. At the base of her throat was a beautiful diamond necklace and small, beautiful earrings hung from her ears. Her auburn hair was piled up on her head as small ringlets of hair framed her beautiful face.

Aphrodite recognised her.

Artemis. Lady of the Hunt, Eternal Maiden, Goddess of the Moon.

She slowly walked towards the man, a small smile graced her lips as she placed her hand on his shoulders. He turned around and as soon as he saw Artemis, a smile formed at his lips.

Aphrodite would have blushed hard and fainted right away if she wasn't sleeping when she saw the man.

He was simply gorgeous.

He had raven black hair and was dressed in a crisp, black tuxedo. He had beautiful green eyes which resembled the colour of the sea and tanned, muscular features.

It was Perseus Jackson.

If gods could blush in their dreams, Aphrodite would have blushed, HARD. So hard, that she would have made a tomato feel jealous.

He slowly placed his arms around Artemis' waist as the latter placed her arms around Perseus and they both leaned in with their eyes closed, as their lips met.

Aphrodite squealed but suddenly the scene changed and Aphrodite was miserable that it had changed.

She now noticed that she was inside a palace. To be specific, inside a throne room. The whole room was made of black, polished marble and a red carpet covered the floor. In the middle were twelve huge thrones, each six feet long carved out of a single black marble, each decorated with jewels.

Just like on Olympus.

In the middle was the biggest throne, where two man were kissing each other. When they broke apart, both their faces where red.

The first man had sea-green eyes with raven black hair which was, as Aphrodite realized, was unmistakably Percy but the other froze her right down to her roots.

She felt a cold sensation creeping over her heart as little droplets of sweat formed on her face. She went as white as sheet and for a moment she felt nothing but fear. Pure fear.

He had curly, onyx black hair, similar to that of Big Three. His golden eyes shown with power and unmistakable love. Undoubtedly it was Kronos.

She felt her hands starting to sweat as she was pulled back into the reality.

She woke up immediately, gasping for air. Everything around her was pitch black except the silver light coming from the balcony which slightly illuminated the room.

The Goddess of Love took deep breathes, as she leaned back against her pillows. She felt herself slightly wet from the sweat but ignored it and closed her eyes, letting the dreams sink in.

How could it be? She thought that all of his essence was scattered so much that it will be difficult for him to reform for many millennia. Then how could he be alive and that too in his original form?

It was overwhelming Aphrodite and she shook her head and pushed aside all the thoughts and just enjoy the peace while Olympus still had some.

She got off her bed and slipped her feet into a pair of slippers and headed for the balcony.

From the balcony, one could see Olympus' central garden. It was filled with flowers and different varieties of plants. But the main beauty was the fountain located in the middle of the garden. The waters reflected the light and the image of the moon. It was a beautiful sight.

She closed her eyes as a soft breeze passed away.

Artemis and Percy kissing each other was something she would love to see and reveal to the Olympians, just to see their reaction. But Percy and the Titan Lord kissing was something that she could never have thought.

Strange, she thought to herself, what limits love can reach to. Even the most cold-hearted god would fall for his true love. It was not the first time. The first time was when Paris of Troy fell for Helen of Sparta.

It was true that, To Love Is To Destroy.

But suddenly something clicked inside Aphrodite's head and she saw the interesting and romantic point of these dreams.

She said to herself, "Not every time I get such unique love story. Love does comes at a great price. Who would have thought that Artemis-the goddess who swore off men and loathes men till now – and Kronos-The Titan Lord of Time who swore to fall in love with anyone after Rhea, would fall for Perseus Jackson, the Hero of Olympus?"

"A love triangle." She said out loud, "A very complicated love triangle. Their story would be remembered as one of the greatest love story in the history of Gods."

But a part of her mind nagged her.

Will Artemis' and Kronos' love would lead to the fall of Olympus? Love didn't spare any man in the Trojan War. Will it spare now?

After all, To Love is to destroy......

Artemis immediately flashed into the throne room where Zeus was busy talking with a wind god.

She was panting hard. Her auburn hair was a mess. Thousands of cuts covered her body and a deep gash extended from her left thigh till her knees. Ichor was continuously flowing out of the wound but Artemis didn't seemed to care. Her right hand was numb with pain where the drakon spit his poison on her.

As soon as Zeus noticed her and her messed up appearance, he shooed away the wind god and asked with concern in his voice, "What happened?"

Her only reaction was pleading look on her face, "Call an emergency meeting. Everyone should be here. It's extremely important. I think that Olympus is in danger again."

Zeus summoned his master bolt without any other comment, and raised it towards the sky as lightning shot from the weapon of power of his, signalling every Olympian to be present in the throne room.

After fifteen seconds or so, gods and goddesses started flashing in, each having a wild look.

It had been centuries since the gods have been summoned for emergency meeting. They were only used when something or someone was in grave danger. The last emergency meeting Olympus had was five centuries ago, when Gaia attacked Olympus.

So of course, it was reasonable to feel a little wild and confused.

"Daughter, you must explain to these gods present in front of you, the reason for this meeting. I hope you have reasonable answers. While Artemis explains the matter in hand, Apollo?" Zeus turned his head towards his son.

Apollo, who was in deep thought, and was gazing intently towards the hearth, snapped his attention towards Zeus.

"Yes father?"

"Son, you must treat your sister. From what I can understand from her wound, she has lost a lot of ichor."

Apollo flashed right away to his sister, while the latter started explaining the grave danger that had befall on Olympus.

"Three days ago, my hunters, Perseus and I were hunting a wild beast which seemed to escape every traps the hunters and I made. The beast was none of the animals that I usually hunt. In fact, I couldn't identify it at all. It has the body of a dragon with wings of course, and two heads of a serpent which spits acid that can paralyze any of its victim and cause them suffer in pain. If thrown at an immortal, it sucks out his/her powers temporarily."

She took a deep breath and continued, "In search of this mysterious and dangerous creature, many of my hunters were killed. So I decided not to risk them anymore. That is why I took Perseus with me to hunt this monster down."

"We together traced the footprints of the monster and followed its marks. Surprisingly, there were no monsters to attack us. The path was absolutely free of monsters. As if someone was preventing it from happening. Considering this as his doing, we continued on our journey. Only until today we were surrounded by a group of monsters. The drakon, three giant hellhounds and two dracaenas."

By now, Apollo had finished his work and headed towards his throne without uttering any word, leaving a fully recovered Artemis, who took her place on her throne. Nobody had dared to interrupt her.

"We both fought until only the two dracaenas were left. I took a blow from one on the hammers which was thrown at Perseus and blacked out instantly."

She sighed.

"After few hours, when I regained my consciousness, I noticed that I was in the same position as I was before. Lying on the ground. Only Perseus wasn't there. I figured he might have gone to the little stream which was near the place where we had set up our tent."

"I went to the little stream but didn't find him there. I Iris Messaged to the Hunters to see if he had gone there to receive help. I even asked Chiron. Even though I highly doubted that he would got to that place after what Annabeth did to him. I went back to the tent with difficulty. There I saw that on the tent floor was written with blood...."

Her voice slightly shook.

"You will never find him"

And I knew...I knew that Perseus had been captured."

The whole council observed a minute of silence.

She looked at Poseidon with sadness clear in her eyes. Poseidon was shaking all over. He was pale and had tears coming out from his eyes.

Only the crackle of the fire of the hearth was what that was heard.

.....

.....

.....

Everyone started to protest at once. There was an uproar.

"SILENCE!" Zeus boomed.

Everyone went still without uttering a single word.

"Now. Athena? What do you have to say on this matter?" Zeus questioned.

All eyes were immediately on Athena. She shifted uncomfortably on her seat.

"I don't really know what to say on this matter." She said uncertainly.

Everyone gasped.

"But I may have some ideas."

Everyone's mouths formed a small 'O'.

"It may have been some-"

But Athena was interrupted as a very bright, golden light appeared in front of the gods' eyes. It was extremely bright and everybody had to cover their eyes to prevent them from having immortal blindness.

As soon as the Intensity of the light decreased, the gods opened their eyes only to see three old women.

The Fates. The Morai. Clotho, the spinner. Lachesis the allotter and Atropos the unturnable.

They had their eyes on all the gods. How did they do it? Don't ask me. I don't know. I guess the Fates have some pretty cool powers.

All the Olympians bowed their heads in respect.

"Your purpose of visit?" Zeus asked with a slight note of fear in his voice.

"Calm down Zeus. You all are to receive an even bigger threat or fear, in future." The Fates replied in unison.

"I am sorry to interrupt, but what do you mean by a "bigger threat'? Is Olympus in danger again?" questioned Athena.

'Your suspect is right, Lady Athena. Olympus is in danger again. It has come to our notice that an even bigger danger looms over Olympus. A threat which cannot be spoken of. A threat that will tear apart the gods from their roots. A threat which will mean the end of Olympus. Your enemies are not foolish. They are too much cunning and will not make foolish mistakes like Kronos or Gaia did."

"Enemies? As in lot of enemies. Not 'enemies' as in one?" asked Hephaestus.

"No. This time, no one will survive against them because we speak of ancient beings. Lord Apollo and Lady Aphrodite has something to reveal to the Olympians. They will, when we will allow."

"But who is it we are facing against?" questioned Athena.

They said only two words before flashing out, words that were enough to send them to Tartarus.

"The Primordials."
