《Another War》Chapter 2: Debate And Confessions

Olympus shone silver in the moonlight. Hundreds of nymphs and satyrs passed around with the occasional minor gods and goddesses scaring the hell out of them by threatening them with death. The Central Garden of Olympus was, however vacant. Water rippled out from the fountain, often sending small showers of water here in there. The flora and fauna of the garden were enchanting. Hundreds of different of species of them multiplied the beauty of the garden. The waters of the fountain was bathed in moonlight and the rippling, creating an effect as if hundreds of pearls were popping out on the surface of the water.

Despite such a beautiful sight and environment, if one went near the Olympian Throne Room, then the person would definitely have their pleasant mood changed into a bitter and sour one. Thankfully, all the other magical creatures and gods, other than the Olympians seemed to get the message that there was a heated argument taking place within the four walls of the Throne Room and seemed to stay out of the way, in case if any angry Olympian came out and saw anyone on the road, decided them turn into a mere pile of ashes. So it was considerably better for the others to find peace in any other part of Olympus.

Now you know about the environment of Olympus. Let's take a look on what is going on inside The Throne Room.

"This is my son we are talking about, Zeus!" cried out Poseidon in disbelief.

"It's not like that, as if we would execute him!" shouted back Zeus in reply.

"Just because Chronos summoned him, it doesn't means that he has to go!" Poseidon was outraged.

"If it means preventing a war against the Primordials, then surely we have to send him to Lord Chronos. There is no other choice!" shouted Zeus equally outraged as Poseidon.

"How could you" Poseidon whispered in disbelief, "He saved our butts a thousand times! What would have you done if it was Thalia?"

"I would have sent Thalia to Lord Chronos" Zeus avoided all the twelve eyes on him. "I would have. I don't want the Olympian Council to fall."

He then slightly raised his chin and voice.

"We gods are meant to rule forever. We are-and will be ruling the heavens. Sacrificing heroes like Percy Jackson are just small matters. They are the sacrifices that must be made to preserve our rule. We are the gods and the ruler of heavens!"

Poseidon looked helpless. He stared at Athena with slight hope in his eyes, "Athena, until this moment I have never sought any help from you. But I do now. Your daughter, Annabeth, loves my son. You would not allow this. Your daughter-Your daughter will die of agony."

Athena said nothing but looked down, her lower lip trembling. After all, who can succeed in this fight with Zeus? Even her explanation would not be enough to show her father the truth, the veracity.

Then the least expected goddess spoke to the sky god, "Lord Zeus, if you would please, may I address the council?" The clear finality in her voice and maybe even a bit of charm-speak, made Zeus nod his head in agreement.

Aphrodite met her eyes with everyone else's excluding Poseidon. She then spoke to the council, "You may not believe the words I am about to speak. You may think I am being a mendacious goddess but let me assure you that I am not. I will also not use charm-speak. I swear on River Styx!"

Thunder boomed in the background.

"I know that many of you, almost all of you don't want Percy to be send into the hands of a cruel primordial. But this is necessary."

"WHAT ARE YOU SAYING APHRODITE?! THIS IS MY SON!" screamed Poseidon as his eyes welled up in tears and some of them even started pouring out.

"Lord Poseidon..."

"APHRODITE STOP! AND YOU, POSEIDON! STOP INTERFERING! DO YOU THINK I CAN BEAR MY DAUGHTER'S SORROW?! DO YOU THINK I CAN SEE HER GOING INSANE WHEN SHE LOSES PERCY?!" Athena's voice turned to a bare whisper, "Don't you see it? There's nothing I can do." Tear drops started falling out of her eyes.

"I understand you Athena-"began Aphrodite.

"NO YOU DON'T! ALL YOUR IMMORTAL LIFE, YOU HAVE BEEN TOYING WITH THE EMOTIONS OF MORTALS, BREAKING HEARTS, ENJOYING THEIR SORROW AND MAKING SORROW HAPPINESS! THIS COUNCIL CAN TAKE ANY DECISION ON THIS MATTER AND I WILL HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. I AM GOING TO SAVE PERSEUS FOR THE SAKE OF MY DAUGHTER. POSEIDON! ARE YOU COMING WITH ME OR NOT?!"

"Brother," began Zeus with a note of warning in his voice, "you cannot..."

"Yes I can Zeus."

The sea god wiped his tears and nodded his head without any hesitant. The two intertwined their hands together and flashed out of the room.
