《Soulmates | S.M.》19

I woke up at around 7 in the morning. The sun was rising and Shawn was still asleep. I knew that when he woke up, he would have a massive headache so I decided to get up and get him some things. I pulled the grey comforter away from my legs and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After doing that, I changed into some clothes and went to the CVS pharmacy to pick up some headache medicine and this hangover drink I saw. Then, I went across the street to buy him some fresh blueberry muffins.

With all the things I purchased with my left hand and the key in my right, I opened the door to the condo. It was still pretty silent so I assumed that Shawn was still asleep. I grabbed a glass of water for him in the kitchen and brought everything upstairs. I opened the door to the bedroom and there he was, shuffling in the bed, indicating that he was waking up.

"Good morning, love" I went to the bed, sitting down next to him.

He covered his head with the pillow, muffling. I realized that the brightness of the room was giving him a headache so I got up and closed the curtains. I peeled the pillow from his face. "Good morning, honey" He whispered.

"I got you some medicine and muffins"

"You did? Thank you" He sat up a bit, still wincing from the head pain. I handed some medicine and the water. He consumed it.

"So I found this hangover drink cure thing. Apparently it works" I unscrewed the cap of the tiny blue bottle and handed it to Shawn. He drank it and made a face of disgust.

"That's disgusting" He said.

"Heyyyy. I said it worked, not that it was good" I chuckled.

He ate his muffin and laid back down in bed, looking at me. "I don't remember much from last night but I know that you helped me out of the bathroom? I'm assuming that was you?"

I laid down next to him. "Yeah. I did"

"Thank you. And" He paused. "I'm sorry"

"For what?"

"For getting completely wasted and not being there to give you your New Year's kiss"

I looked at him as if he was insane. "One. It's my job to take care of you when you're 'completely wasted' and two. It's just one kiss, we've had plenty before"

He looked at me sympathetically. "What have I done to deserve you?"

I placed my hand on his cheek. "Absolutely everything"

I was in the bedroom talking to Elle over the phone when Shawn peeked his head through the doorframe. After resting a bit and drinking lots of water, he was feeling a whole lot better. "Hey. Sorry to disturb. When you're done, I have a surprise for you outside"

"Oh, all right" I smiled at him, curious of what it was. He winked at me before walking away.

"Hey Elle. I um. Have to go"

"Have fun with your lover"

"Ha ha" I said sarcastically. "Thanks. Love you, bye"

I walked outside to Shawn's gigantic balcony. There, he set up a table surrounded by candles which illuminated in the night sky. "What do you think?" He asked, raising his arms upwards.

"It's beautiful" I replied, bringing my hands to my heart. "What's it for"

"Mmmm. Let's just say a New Year's celebration" He went over to a chair and pulled it from under the table, motioning for me to sit down. On the table were two plates with steak, potatoes, and bread rolls. We ate, talking about little things like tour stories or university days. Once we were both finished with our food, Shawn stood up, motioning me to follow along. I stood up and he grabbed both of my hands. "I wanted to make up for last night"

"Shawn. You don't have to"

"No. Alana, I want to. Which is why" He paused, grabbing a remote from under his chair and pressed a button, going back to me. The sound system outside started playing, "Ten, Nine, Eight"

"You're serious" I laughed.

"Hell yeah I am. Five, Four" He began to whisper.

I joined along with him. "Three. Two, One"

"Happy New Year" We whispered, simultaneously. Shawn put both hands on the sides of my head, pulling me closer to him, leaning down for a kiss. Shawn and I have shared many kisses throughout the time we've known each other but for some reason, this kiss seemed to be different. Special. We kissed for about five seconds when explosions could be heard in the sky, bright light shining back to us.

"Fireworks?" I grinned widely. "Was this planned?"

"Maybe" He shrugged, going back in.

Here we are again, to the part of the story that has happened at least ten times already. Alana and I were in my car, outside of the airport, because she had to leave me again to go back to school. Of course, I want her to get a good education so she can have a good career, but there's always this feeling that I get when we separate and it grows stronger every time; the feeling of loneliness, sadness, desperation even.

I got out of the car, going to the trunk, and pulled out her suitcase, rolling it to her side of the car. She opened the door, getting out of the car, softly smiling at me. "Thanks, love"

We went into the airport, checking her in, and waited at the seating area for her flight to be called. We sat there, my right hand holding her left, her head resting on my shoulder. She was staring off into space, subconsciously rubbing my tattoo with her thumb.

"Are you alright, honey?" I whispered into her hair.

"Yeah. Kinda sad that I have to leave you"

"Me too" She turned her head so that her forehead was rested on mine and gave me a peck on my lips. She smiled, resting her head on my shoulder again. After about ten minutes of waiting, one of the people at the gate sent a message that everyone should start boarding the plane. Alana and I stood up, I took her hands in mine. "I love you, honey"

"I love you more" She smiled, taking one of my hands and placing a gentle kiss on my knuckles. She started heading towards the gate and her phone started to ring, causing her to stop. She pulled it out of her black purse and looked at the screen to see who it was. She pressed a button and brought it up to her ear. "Hello?"

"Yes this is she" She turned around to look back at me. All of a sudden, her face brightened and a large smile was formed. I looked at her, curious as to what was going on. "Thank you" She told the person on her phone, then put it back in her purse, and walked towards me.

"Last call!" The lady by the gate yelled. Alana stopped in front of me then pulled me into a large embrace. "Honey, you're going to miss your flight"

She looked up at me, shaking her head. "No I'm not. Unless you want me to leave, then I can get a flight later"

Still confused, I asked her, "What are you talking about? Can I please have some context?"

"Oh right. I just got a call from my school. They said I was approved for online school"

My face lit up at this, "You're serious?!"

Alana chuckled. "Of course! Before applying for classes in December, I remembered you asking if I could do school online and I asked. They approved me just now"

Speechless, I lifted Alana by her waist and spun her around. She hung tightly around my neck, giggling into my chest. I put her down and put my hands on the sides of her head, leaning in to peck her lips multiple times.

"Does this mean you get to stay here with me?"

"Yes" She boasted. "Only if you want me to"

"I'd be crazy to say no"

I pulled Alana back in for a hug and we stood there for a little while until we heard screaming coming from behind me. I pulled away to look and saw a group of at least ten girls running towards us.

Shawn took photos with the girls and then we drove to the nearest mall to walk around and enjoy ourselves. We were walking around the second floor and we came across a Victoria's Secret. I actually needed new underwear so it was convenient that there was one at this mall.

"Hey" I squeezed Shawn's hand to stop him from walking. "I need to grab some stuff from here" I pointed to the store.

"Oh!" Shawn said. "Alright. I'll just stay here"

"You don't want to come in with me?"

"Um" He scratched the back of his head. "No. It's fine. I'm fine out here"

"Are the bras intimidating to you?" A smirk grew on my face.

"Mmm nO" His voice cracked a little.

"If you go in, I'll let you pick out something for yourself"

"But this is a woman's store?"

I looked back at him, raising my eyebrows. He then understood. "Ohhh. Something for me. Yes!" He smirked back at me, following me into the store.

We walked out of the store with a large bag. "You know" I said as we got out. "I wasn't expecting you to choose a bunch of things. I only went in there to grab two things"

"Well. It's you fault for pressuring me into going in there"

"You've got to admit it though. You're glad you went in"

"Absolutely" He smirked. "Promise me you'll wear them for me when we get home?"

"Hm. I guess we'll have to see" I said, lifting my hands to his cheeks to give it a squeeze.

Woahh. Hi! This is my first ever 'author's note' in this story. I've never done this before because I don't know if anyone actually reads these. I just wanted to come over here and thank you all for reading the story and enjoying it! At least, I think you guys are enjoying it?

This chapter was almost like a filler for the upcoming events in the story since everything seemed to be everywhere but I hope you guys don't mind!

Umm. So yeah! That's pretty much all I have to say. Thanks for all the loveee! 💕
