《Dazai x reader - sleeping beauty》Part 4

Atsushi opened the door to a small Japanese apartment that would soon be yours. "It's right next to mine, how convenient~" he said with a cute smile. "I can not thank you enough!" You said folding your hands and bowing humbly. Your eyes widened as you recalled the events from the night before. "Oh my god I'm so sor-" "there's no need." Atsushi cut you off with a kindhearted smile, "I understand the situation you where in all too well. Sometimes... we'll do whatever it takes for a little money..." His eyes seemed to trail off as the mood settled down. "Yeah..." you said letting yourself go in thought as well. "I'm sorry!" Atsushi shook his head to escape from his daze, "I was just thinking!" He began to nervously sweat with a fake smile that you detected easily. (He's so easy to read...) you thought as Atsushi finally stepped in. "I'll help you move your stuff in tomorrow, it's kinda boring in here for now." You looked around the room at the soft tatami and the small table in the middle of the room. "Would you really do that for me?" You asked with a contempt smile. "Of course!" Atsushi responded with a soft voice that made you melt faster than glossy snow when the sun would peer from behind the clouds. "Well it's pretty late, I'll be on my way!" He looked down at a wristwatch before he waved goodbye and headed out "Dazai will stop by later with a few things for you." Then Atsushi was gone.
You slid the door closed slowly and your usual frown returned. You felt traitorous, you where now working with people you considered your enemy hours ago. you knew Akutagawa had it out for you and rumor has it that he doesn't simply, "let things go". You sighed and rested your back against the wall letting your body fall to the ground. Memories, terrible memories entered your mind the more you began to think. "No..." you said to yourself, "stop!" You hit your forehead with the palm of your hand. "You can't do this now..." moments later, the door slammed open revealing a poker faced Dazai from behind it. "Kon bon waaaaa (good evening)!" He greeted charmingly. He barged into the room with a slue of packages at hand. So many that he was unable to notice you up against the wall. "Don't tell me I came to the wrong place again..." he sighed under his breath. You stood up and approached him from behind. Upon tapping his shoulder, he jumped and dropped the stuff from in his hands. "Ahhhh there you are Takano-san!" He said warmly. "You can just call me Okae..." you said nervously. "Ah yes! I've brought you a few things from the agency! We're so excited to have you working with us, everyone got you a little something!" He dug franticly through the pile of packages. "Oh wow, you guys really didn't have to..." you said scratching the back of your head. Dazai completely ignored you. He pulled out two skirts from the messy pile, one black one pink. "I couldn't decide which color would look cuter on you so I just grabbed both!" He said as sparkles danced around his head. You only sighed as he threw articles of clothes around the room in random corners. "Looks like I won't be needing cloths for a while..." you said as a pair of panties landed upon your head. "Oh and what a spacious room! So clean and shinny! A perfect place for a romantic double suicide! Just place a candle here and here and..." Dazai continued on as the door slammed open once more. "D-D-DAZAI-SAN!?" Atsushi exclaimed nervously. "Your making a ruckus!" You turned to look at Atsushi who's face turned red at the sight of the underwear on your head. "G-gomenasai!!! (Sorry)" He apologized flailing his arms around and turning away from you. You tilted your head confusedly letting the article of clothing fall to the ground. You noticed them on the floor then looked over at Dazai. "Are you the one responsible for getting me these..?" You questioned awaiting Dazai's response. He stopped dead in his tracks and began to sweat as he turned his head hesitantly. "W-what..? That must've been Ranpo-kun!... I'm not like that-" You sighed once more and began to push Dazai out the door. "I appreciate all the things, but it's literally 10:00 you said impatiently. Before slamming the door, you threw the underwear at him, "and never would I wear underwear like THAT." You turned around and noticed Atsushi was still present. "Sorry about him." He said smiling, "I'll just be going." He made his way to door and yawned, "good night Okae-chan!"

4am on the dot, you awoke to a strong frigid breeze that startled you. You weren't tucked away safely in your cozy futon, you weren't even sleeping on the floor. You where standing on a bridge in the middle of Yokohama staring down at the glistening water that reflected the city lights. Preparing to jump. "Not again!" You screamed letting go of the railing and falling backward onto the foundation of the bridge. Your pupils where extremely dilated with fear. If the wind hadn't woken you, you would've plummeted to your death.
You'd stumbled across the though before. Suicide. Life just... never seemed to be worth the pain you where forced to endure every single day. You had always hoped that eventually you'd find a place to belong and people to love enough to live for. More than anything, you wanted to deserve life, you wanted a god to look upon you without regretting your creation. If God even exists that is...
All those years you spent being tortured by men you never even knew the names of, they took their toll on you. Apparently enough to make you desire death.
Because of your ability, you were made extremely vulnerable. One day you disappeared from the arms of your mother never to see her loving face again.
- [x] You had stumbled into a group of men on your walk home from school and you bumped into one of the strangers passing out along side him. When you had awoken, you lay naked on the cold streets of Tokyo. Something extremely important was taken from you that cold merciless night, something you could never regain.
This same event occurred multiple times when the same group of men came back for more. This time they weren't planning on just leaving you in the streets to rot. You spent 4 years of your life trapped in one of the members basements and every other night they'd do unimaginable things to you.
- [x] You knelt down on the ground and sobbed all the tears you possibly could. You slammed your fist upon the pavement, though you knew it did you no good by bloodying your hand up a bit. "God help me!" You said as a puddle formed beneath you. You stared at the ground for a moment before noticing a pair of black shoes came into your feild of vision which startled you. Someone was watching your sorry ass lying on the ground helplessly. You gazed up at Akutagawa with your sore eyes. He surprisingly didn't look down on you in a metaphorical manner. "Just go away" You demanded beating yourself up for getting too emotional. Akutagawa remained silent for a moment. "I... *sigh* I just wanted to let you know your welcome to join me again in the port mafia again. Im sure your still deciding who to work for yet..." you held a confused expression as tears still bled from your eyes. You where on the ground crying about a depressing background story and he wanted to talk to you about a job opening...? He turned to walk away but you grabbed his pant leg stopping him from going any further. "Actually..." you begged softly. "I need someone... anyone. Forget what I said..." Akutagawa grasped his shirt tightly as though he had an aching heart, and for the first time... bent down to comfort someone. You.

You hugged your legs to your chest as Akutagawa sat next to you on the ground. You knew it was out of character for him to act this way so you waited for him to speak first. "Have you decided yet..?" He questioned blankly. You hated the bugging question, but you knew an answer was required no matter how much he wouldn't like it. "Yes..." you said unsurely. "I believe I'll be staying with the organization." You where blunt and to the point, you didn't want him thinking he could snatch you up as easily as the last time, so you stood your grounds. "Well in that case I guess I should just leave." He said standing up slowly. When you had stopped him from leaving before, you were in desperate need of company, but now all you wanted was for him to go away, and so he did. "Oh and one last thing..." he said before disappearing. "Don't forget me."

[Schedule is currently a bit borked due to poor health, looking to finish up the first section of this book by the end of the year then back to a regular schedule in January] This is a kitchen sink space opera. It originated off me lamenting the lack of witches in space and has spiraled out of control from there.
