《Pied Piper | {K.NJ}》Chapter 6

You couldn't believe what he just said. You were speechless and all you could do was have your mouth hanging. Everything just went too fast for you to process.
He laughed and playfully messed your hair up.
"I was joking, little kitten. Although that's what I hope."
You glared at him and shook your head, trying to stop him from playing your hair. You brushed your hair with your fingers to keep it back to its place.
"D-don't joke around like that. You said I'm not your target."
"That's true. I don't really understand the situation. I'm trying to figure it out. Sorry but I still have to play this every night."
"Why? Why do you break their hearts?"
He scratched the side of his head and shrugged.
"Duty."
"Duty?"
He grinned and pushed you gently so that you were turning around. He grabbed your hand and pulled you out.
"It's late, little kitten. I'll bring you back home."
You pushed his hand away and stood at your spot. He looked at you blankly as he was taken aback by your actions.
"I can't sleep because of that flute. You don't know why this is happening and you won't explain why you have to play it. My heart is going crazy because of you. It's not fair!"
"I know but give me some time."
He grabbed your hand again and dragged you again, heading back towards your house.
"How much more time?"
He stopped in his tracks and turned his head back to you.
"Just trust me."
You weren't convinced. Not even a slight bit. That's not even the answer you were looking for yet you couldn't help but accept it. Trusting him was definitely out of the question but that's the only thing you could do for now.
He sent you back home and Seokjin was waiting for you at the doorstep. His face lit up when he saw the two of you and thanked Namjoon for accompanying you back safely.
After Namjoon left, Seokjin waited for an explanation. He folded his arms and gave you a look. One that won't let you off unless you explain.
"I just needed fresh air."
You lied and he knew but he just let it be. He told you to sleep early although that won't be happening. You wish it would but not even a chance. You knew you would have to spend another night without sleeping.

You were exactly correct. You didn't get to sleep a wink because of the flute sound. It's getting rather irritating and the lack of sleep was making you feel rather awful. Awfully pissed off.
The person responsible for this popped up in your head. The lack of information and the continuous sound of flute caused your blood to boil.
The facts that he's irrelevantly handsome and the way your heart just had to pound faster added up to your annoyance that you had reached your limit.
"KIM NAMJOON!!!! YOU ARE SO DEAD!"

The shout in the morning did make you feel better for no particular reason. You settled at the dining table where breakfast was placed and all you needed to do was dig in.
"Did you have a nightmare or something? You said something like you are so dead."
You almost choked on your food and quickly grabbed a glass of water to help you swallow the food in your throat.
"I-it's a cockroach. You know how I am when it comes to cockroach."
"Oh... did you manage to kill it?"
You nodded your head and he let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank god. I wouldn't want that creeping into my room."
You let out a small chuckle and looked to the side, trying to avoid eye contact for the being. You were glad that Seokjin actually believed what you said. If not, there will be a long explanation to do.
You quickly ate your food and rushed out for school. Of course not forgetting to give your Brother a little goodbye kiss. You heard him telling you to take care and you gave him an 'ok' sign.

You sat in class with your notebook on the table. You were giving it a serious thought. You knew just waiting for Namjoon to figure everything out would take quite a long time. You couldn't afford to wait.
Mid-term exams will be coming soon and you need to get at least sufficient amount of sleep to balance the stress that you will be facing.
You had been thinking for a long time and yet there seems to be nothing coming into your mind. You placed your head on the table and lazily rolled the pencil on the table as you were bored.
"(Y/N)... are you thinking about him again?"
You nodded your head as an answer. You didn't need to look up to see who it was. You could tell from his voice that it's Jimin. He pulled the chair out and sat in front of you in a way that he's facing you.

You rolled your head to face him with a slight pout on your face.
"I can't figure out anything. And it's annoying."
Jimin hummed in agreement and rotated your notebook so that it was easier for him to read.
"Maybe there's something that you didn't notice?"
You cupped your face with your hands and recalled everything you could.
"He said it's his duty."
"Duty?"
"Yup Duty. To break hearts. I don't get it though. It seems so messed up. Why would one be given a duty to break hearts?"
Jimin scratched his nose as he focused on reading your notes.
"Have you seen his flute? Maybe his flute might have a huge hint."
You thought about how his flute looked like. It was definitely extraordinary. Way too beautiful and out of the world. Then, you remembered the butterfly and the letter.
"There's a letter M formed crystals on his flute."
You took your notebook back from Jimin and wrote it down. Then you wrote his name and bit your lower lip.
"His initials would be K N J in English. There's no M at all. This is a huge thing. I'll have to ask him about it." You said in excitement as you found out something new about him.
Jimin looked at you, feeling rather mixed. He's happy about the fact that you were excitement but he also felt worried.
"(Y/N)... don't you think it's better to stay away from someone like him? He seems dangerous."
You looked at him and smiled. You shook your head and held his hand. You brought it close to your cheeks and he stared at you.
"I'll be okay. He doesn't seem to be a bad person. Also, this is the only way."
He sighed and placed his hands up in the air to show that he surrendered.
"As long as you are happy, princess."
You giggled and thanked him for understanding.

You ran out of pen so you dropped by at the nearest convenience store to get some supplies. Heading to a stationary shop would be require too much energy as it's far so you just went to the store near your house. You aren't choosy. As long as it's a pen and ink comes out, it's fine.
You scanned through the stationary area at the store and took a few packets. Seokjin had informed you that he'll be a bit late so you decided to grab some snacks as well. Just some to fill you up before dinner.
As you were placing it on the counter, someone appeared beside you and added some yoghurt and face masks into your basket. Then, he passed his credit card to the cashier. You glanced to the side and stared at the person, confused.
"My treat. Plus I feel bad for making you not get enough sleep."
Once the cashier passed him back his card and was done packing the items into bags, he took it and carried it before you could.
"I'll carry it for you."
He flashed you a smile and walked off. You didn't say anything and just followed him quietly.

He passed you the bags when you reached your house. He tilted his head and looked at you.
"You seem pretty quiet, little kitten."
"How can someone kind like you go around breaking girls' hearts?"
"Is that what you have been wondering all this while?"
You shrugged your shoulders. It was one of the many things that you were thinking of. You knew all these actions could be just an act but you just feel that it's sincere. Plus feelings don't lie.
"Well, not all bad people are bad and not all good people are good," he said. Then he ruffled your hair and turned to leave but was stopped when you pulled his shirt with your free hand.
"Umm... that letter on your flute. Why is it M? I mean it could be A or K or even you know your initial. So, why is it M?"
He glanced back at you over his shoulder first before fully turning around to face you.
"I mean that flute is yours right so why is it..." you paused as you thought of something. Then, you gasped and looked at him.
A smile formed on his lips as he knew that you had figured it out.
"You are smart, (Y/N)," he said as he bend down in a way that his face was close to yours. Way too close that your noses were almost touching.
Your heart was bouncing up and down in your ribcage and you held in your breath. However, you managed to keep an eye contact with him.
"That flute belongs to someone else."
