《Edge of Glory | Supergirl 1》Chapter 17

Leah flew up with Kara, her eyes pinned on her mother, but she didn't speak, she just looked at her. "Astra!" Kara squinted at her, "No bodyguards?"
"No knife. No armor. No one besides you and me. Will you talk to me now? You can't say it's not fair."
Kara growled at her, "We're done being fair." She used her heat vision to knock Astra out of the air.
Leah recoiled back but flew after Kara as they fought. When Astra got the better hand, she used her heat vision against the two, making them fly off. Kara looked over at Leah, who nodded her head. Both girls went in different directions, Leah flew up to her mother and punched her to where Kara was at. Kara slammed her through a building, causing rubble to fall down toward the citizens. Leah flew down and caught it, using it against her mother, making Astra plummet to the ground.
Leah landed to the floor, only to have a car make her go flying in another direction. She groaned, getting up from her spot to see Astra standing above Kara on the floor. Leah got up and flew into her mother, pushing her into the floor. "Don't touch her!" Leah threw punch after punch until Astra was on the ground, she lifted her fist one more time but stared down at her mother's face. Her hand shook before it unballed, she stood up, breathing heavily. Kara walked over, hitting Astra again causing her to pass out.
Leah walked into the DEO with Kara, dragging Astra behind her, "Here."
"Containment. Now." Henshaw yells out.
Alex comes over to the two girls, "We'll call you when she wakes up."
"Don't." Leah says, "She can rot."
🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆
Katie skipped over to Kara and Leah, "First of all, I am very happy that you two weren't murdered by Astra."
"Thanks, Katie."
"And second, I got a plan to get Armstrong." Winn says, looking up at them as they all walked in, "Actually, couldn't be easier. All I gotta do is plant this little device on Armstrong's computer, and then I'll be able to access, remotely and discreetly, all of his files."
"So... So how do we get it on the computer?"
Winn kind of looks at Katie before explaining to Kara, "Um, well, um... One of us is going to have to go over there and do it. I'm... I'm... I gonna have to be running point at my keyboard along with Katie. And, well, I figured that Kara and Leah should be on lookout. They've got the X-Ray vision."
"Ooh." James gave him a sarcastic smile, "So I'm the one who gets arrested if this doesn't work out."
"James, you don't have to."

"No. It's all good. Okay. How do I do this?"
"Yes. Okay, so once we're in Dirk's office, we'll need a distraction." Winn says, looking over at Katie.
Everyone got into positions, Katie picked up the phone speaking to Armstrong's secretary, "Uh, yeah, uh, Mr. Armstrong's Maserati is on fire." She puts the phone down, looking at Winn, "You know I could have actually lit it on fire."
"Yeah, I know." Winn turns back to the computer, "James, you have approximately 90 seconds to get in and out before Armstrong returns."
"Okay, I'm in." Winn high-fived Katie, "Guys, we got a problem. The computer is plastic."
Katie sat next to Winn, "Dude, that's okay. You just, just pry open the monitor's cooling vent and attach the bug to the inner wiring."
Winn leaned back into his seat, "What is the point of having all these muscles if you can't open a stupid little plastic box?"
"Winn," Leah warned.
"Okay." Winn noticed the screen popup, "And downloading."
"Yes!" Katie grins, before looking at her brother, "God, I'm enjoying corporate espionage, like, a little too much."
"James, hurry, Armstrong is close. I'm going to heat-vision the sprinklers, set off the fire alarm. Or... Or jump out the window and I'll catch you."
"No. No. I got this."
"But he's going to see you," Leah says, looking at Kara in worry.
Katie bit her lips when she heard the sound of Armstrong's voice, holding her head, worry spreading through her.
"Mr. Olsen? Curious. Catco's art director stopping by its chairman of the board's office unannounced, on what is, no doubt, Catco's worst day?"
"I wouldn't say that it's Catco's worst day. I'd say it's Cat Grant's."
"It may get hard to draw that distinction."
"I agree, except for the fact that Catco's bigger than just one person, even Cat Grant. And if she implodes and the board has to make some changes, I'd just like you to know, you have my full support."
"Of course, none of us want this to happen."
"No, of course not."
"But, should it become unavoidable, the board appreciates having you in its corner."
Leah sighs, smiling over at Kara until her phone rang, she saw Alex's name on the screen and answered, "Everything okay?"
"Your mother is awake."
"I told you I don't care."
"She said she'll only talk to you."
Leah looked at her cousin, "Couldn't she just talk to Kara."
"She said it has to be you."
🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆
Leah walked in, her suit on, arms crossed. "I'm glad you're here."
"I'm glad you're back in a cell." Leah snapped.
"You fought well."
Leah sighs, looking anywhere but her mother, "You have two minutes." Astra lifted the small beacon up and pressed it against the glass. Leah opened her mouth, her eyes slowly moving up to meet her mother's, "You still have it?"

"It's time you knew everything, Ka. When I went on the run, I took this with me. I would hold it in my hand to remind myself of why I was turning my back on my family, and betraying the high council. It would all be worth it if you survived."
"Oh?" Leah's voice was still sharp, "Because you cared about me? Did you care about the people you and father killed?"
"We did what we had to do. Alura is the one with blood on her hands."
"My Aunt was the best woman who ever lived."
Astra released a small laugh, "Tell that to those of us who were thrown into that nightmare prison."
"I think you went crazy in Fort Rozz. I think you stared into miles of pitch black space until everything good inside of you died." Leah moved away, pacing off into a different area.
"Do you wanna know how she caught me?" Leah stopped walking, "That day in your room. Was it your idea to message me with the spy beacon, or was it Alura's?" She explained to Leah about what happened after she had left the room.
Leah moved back over to the front of the glass, "I don't remember that."
"Your aunt signed the death warrants of our entire race and she used you to do it."
"I don't believe you." Leah shook her head.
"Yes, you do. Much like Krypton, this planet is on the verge of ecological destruction. I can stop it. But the humans won't like my methods. That's why I need you. They trust you. Together we can save them."
Leah took a small step back, "You're never going to leave this cell."
"I am begging you." Astra opened her hand back up, pressing the beacon back against the glass, "Please help me." Leah turned around, heading out to leave the room, "Ka! I love you."
"Wait." Kara chased after her cousin, the news hurt her as well, but Leah seemed so mad.
Leah pushed into the room, looking at the hologram of her Aunt, "Did you use me to get Astra arrested?"
"Hello, Ka-El."
"Don't say my name right now. Did you use me to draw my mother out of hiding?"
"Yes."
Kara's face dropped, "How could you do that?"
"Astra had broken the law. You were the only person she trusted enough to meet. It was necessary."
Leah's voice cracked, "Could she have saved us?"
"She was a criminal."
Kara kept her fist balled up, "But was she right?"
"I am not programmed to give you that information."
"Tell me!" Leah cried out, standing up on the platform.
"I'm sorry, I am not programmed to give you that information."
Kara looked at her mother's hologram in betrayal, "You let everyone that I love die! You left me! You left me alone! You sent me away! How could you do that?"
"I am not programmed-"
Leah screams loudly, her laser vision going through the hologram. Alex ran in to see the two crying, she quickly turned off the hologram, jogging over to them. Kara turned to Leah and sobbed, "Hey, hey, hey. It's not really her."
"She lied to me." Kara sobs, Leah holding as tightly as she was.
"Kara, that wasn't your mom. You don't know what happened then. Only what Astra is telling you now."
Kara moved away from Leah, "I know that Astra and I were both given life sentences by my mother. We didn't have a choice."
"Allura lied to me, she said my mother abandoned me." Leah cried out, refusing the hug that Alex was trying to give her, "She said my mom didn't care anymore. She lied to me."
"Leah... Kara-"
The blonde Kryptonians left the room.
🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆
Kate looked up from the computer when she saw Leah and Kara silently enter the room, sitting down on the chairs. Everyone glanced at each other.
"What happened? What..."
"Are you okay?"
"What'd she do?"
"Was this Astra?"
"Everything all right?"
Leah just lifted her hand, "Please. I don't... I don't want to talk about it. Can we just..."
Katie glanced at Winn, "Yeah, okay..."
"Uh, Dirk Armstrong's e-mail accounts, and there are several, um, are harder to crack than Catco's, almost, so I'm just getting into it."
"Okay." Kara breathed out, "Anything else from Ms. Grant's e-mails?"
"Uh, more of the same. Uh, well, no, actually, there was this one e-mail from the bank, um, asking for Cat's electronic signature so they could approve a wire transfer into an account belonging to an Adam Foster." James handed the slip of paper to Kara, no one noticing how Leah had tensed slightly at the mention of the name.
"Who's Adam Foster?"
"Well." Katie grinned, "According to some Internet sleuthing, he's 24, he lives in Opal City. Cat makes monthly payments into his personal account."
"Yeah, almost as if Cat is, you know, keeping him on the side."
Kara got up quickly to confront Cat before Leah could speak up, "Wait, Kara-"
Katie looked over at Leah, "Do you know something about Adam Foster?"
"He's my older brother." Leah sighs.
Winn's eyes widen, "You have an older brother? Wait, so Cat had another kid?"
"It was before she adopted me." Leah explains, "She had him unexpectedly, fought for custody, lost, and because of her loss, she adopted me to fill the missing void."
"Do you talk to him?"
"My mother doesn't know that I do." Leah admits, "I found him by mistake going through my mother's desk when I was a teenager."
