《One Last Fight》Everything Will Be Okay

John didn't know what was going on, but when he knew something was wrong with Bo, he was apart of the situation without question. Before he could pull over on the side of the road, I exited the car. I saw her car sitting in front of us as I shoved through the front door of my bar. She was still counting into the phone as I looked around.

"Where the fuck is Bo?"

Trevor's eyes snapped up from his position at the bar. I carried myself to where he stood with Miles. They looked at me with wide eyes as I searched the bar. I didn't know where she was, but I could hear her crying through the phone. My heart was racing.

Miles furrowed his brows with confusion. "She is in the bathroom. What is going on?"

They followed behind me as I shot toward the bathroom. When I pushed through the door, I saw her on the ground. Her head was hidden by the knees she gathered to her chest. I squatted to the ground before pulling her into my chest. Her fingers fisted my shirt as she broke down.

Miles stood above us with a look on his face I couldn't decipher. I looked at him, asking what the fuck happened. He threw up his hands just as confused as I was. He said she went to answer a phone call.

"Who called you?"

Her voice came out as a screech as she sucked in deep breaths. "Luke."

"What did he do?"

"He heard them - he heard them," she couldn't speak coherently. "He heard Warren rap-"

I pulled her head to my chest. "Holy fuck. I'm sorry, Bo."

He listened to the assault happen, and he did nothing. She thought he was her best friend. For years, she assumed Chrissy and Luke would always be there for her. They meant the world to her, but the world they created was crumbling before her eyes. Everything has been falling apart in front of her. Whenever she went a mile ahead, she went four miles backward.

Everybody she ever loved fucked her over. It was one tragedy after another. Knowing that Luke was involved with what happened broke her heart. I knew he meant something to her, even if she was with me. He had a part of her heart too. That wasn't the point, though. He listened to her being assaulted, and that humiliated her.

After Warren left for college, she thought he would take the secrets of that night with him. There was nobody left who knew anything about her. All of the people involved moved on with their lives. There were lines to her story that she wanted to keep hidden. There were pages she would take to the grave, but now it is out. He knew something she didn't want him to. He knew something she didn't want anybody to know.

"Leave," I looked up at everybody standing at the door.

They walked away as I cupped Bo's cheeks. "What happened that you don't want him to know?"

"What?" She hiccuped.

"You didn't want someone to know what happened. What was it?"

The terror filling her eyes worried me. "There were other people in that room. What if -"

"Bo," I warned.

"I need to know."

"Do you think he will tell you?"

"I have to find out because there are still things I can't remember."

"What is your plan?"

"I am going to ask him to meet me here."

"They were my best friends," she looked at me with a wave of emotion crashing in her eyes. "I would have never let them get hurt. They were family to me. They were the only family I had left."

"I know," I cupped her face. "But you have a group of people out there who love you more than anything in the world. I know we aren't the family you wanted, but we are the one you got."

She started to shake her head. "I want you guys. I just want you to want me the same. I can't keep going through this."

"You won't have to, ever again," I promised. "We are going to create a life that is based on love."

"Please don't ever change," she begged me. "I know people think you are an asshole, but I love you. Please don't ever stop being protective -"

"I am right here," I promised. "I am never going to change. I am going to keep on protecting you, and making sure you are safe."

"I want you there," she sighed. "Just in case, please."

"I am going to stay in my office."

"If I need you -"

"I'll see it on the cameras, but Miles, Trevor, and John aren't leaving," my body shivered with hostility. "If something happens, he better hope they get to him before I do."

She brought my lips to hers. "Thank you for everything."

"It's a thankless job."

While she stayed in the bathroom to calm herself down, I went to where everyone stood. My hands were itching to hit something. John cocked his head because if anybody knew better, it was him. He could tell something was going to happen before I said a word.

"Luke is going to come here," I licked my lips.

"Is this a good idea?"

"They are going to talk about shit that happened," I slid onto a barstool. "I need you guys to promise me he won't hurt her."

"Of course, we wouldn't let that happen," Miles scoffed. "Why would you -"

"I'm already signing my death sentence by letting him come here."

John patted my shoulder. "She needs this."

"I know," I tugged at my hair. "I can't get in trouble, though."

Trevor slid me a beer. "We'll do whatever you need us to. You have my word, no one will touch Bo."

"We promise," John squeezed me.

I told Bo I would go to my office when he showed up. He was going to see me because with every second he sits in front of her, he is going to know I am on standby. He was on his way, and I continued to gulp down water trying to put out the flame in my body. The fire was creating a rage I tried putting to rest.

Her hand covered mine as the doors behind me opened. I looked up at Trevor who stood in front of me. His head nodded, telling me he was here. I pushed away from my seat, making my way to where he stood. Bo called out my name, but all I did was walk up to him.

"Whatever she asks you, you better answer truthfully," he nodded, visibly gulping as I towered over his body. "If you don't, I'll cut your tongue out."

Bo grabbed my arm, pulling me down to her. "Everything will be okay."

She cupped my cheeks. My eyes stayed on him as her lips moved against mine. The second his eyes diverted elsewhere, my eyelids fluttered shut before I was consumed by the relaxation of her hold. The look on her face as I pulled away told me she was going to be okay. I pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"I love you."

"I love you," her smile was weak.

Miles slid me another water bottle as Bo guided Luke towards a table. Her back was turned to me as they sat down. His blue eyes caught mine. I pulled the pocket-knife from my jacket, flicking the blade out for him to see. I pointed at it as I smiled. Before John stole my attention I sent him a wink.

"You have a crude fucking sense of humor," John shoved me. "Go to your office."

As I turned around the corner, Miles stopped me. "You know I got her back, right? No matter what. Whatever she needs. I've got her back."

I nodded. "She loves you Miles."

"We love her just as much."

"I know that."

"I know you are hellbent on protecting her," he started to shake his head. "But as far as I know, all of us will go to war for that girl. She didn't just affect you, Kinnick."

"Miles -"

"When it comes down to it, I would do anything for her," he snapped. "You've got your second chance, you better not fuck it up because we are all she has."

"I won't let anything happen to her."

"I know you won't," his voice darkened. "Because I am going to be here to make sure of it."
