《His painful rejection》Chapter 14 The aftermath

Hunter
After Kristen fainted we brought her home but the words that she said about both her mates being there kept playing over and over in my mind. And I began to fear that my suspicions about Roy and her could possible be true. And if they are true I truly don't know what will I have to do. Roy has been my best friend since we were small but Kristen is my mate.
I need to clear things up maybe just maybe I might be wrong. I walked down the stairs in search of Roy. I need to clear things soon and when I mean soon I mean now. I found him outside while he helped some pack members out. I pulled him away not knowing what to say yet. I hadn't really figured out a plan on what to say when I had him face to face.
So I began the only way I could.
"Roy I have a question for you"
"What's the question?" he asked.
"Well it's more of a theory a hunch if you may," I said.
"Okay then what's your hunch or theory?" he asked.
I took a deep breath and decided to get it over with.
"My theory is that you and Kristen are mates, and that you're the one that rejected her and broke her heart," all the words just seemed to spill out on their own and I was glad they did.
I waited for him to respond, yet he said nothing. He only stared at me wide eyed his mouth agape. He didn't have to respond his silence said it all. My curiosity was now replaced by anger, not because this secret was kept from me, but because he hurt Kristen. He hurt the woman I love.
My eyes began to change from their normal color to black I fought to gain control of my wolf who just wanted to resurface and tear Roy apart, friend or not, my mate comes first.
"Hunter calm down," Roy tried to touch my shoulder but I shrugged it off.

"How can you tell me to calm down when you hurt her!" I yelled.
"Hunter you have to understand I was young and stupid. I made mistakes, and I truly regret what I did if I could take it back I would," he pleaded.
But pleading wouldn't cut it. The pain he had caused Kristen was too much to be resolved with a single plead.
I shook my head and turned to look at him, " No Roy you knew what you were doing you perfectly knew. Ever since we were small our parents have told us how much a mate should mean to us, and yet you ignored what they said, and you still rejected her knowing that rejection is the worst pain possible for a mate to bare."
"Hunter listen to me it was a mistake, an error please just forget the past. Are you really going to let this affect our friendship?" he asked.
"How can I not when the one that got hurt was my mate?" I hissed.
"Hunter for one things she's my mate not yours!" he yelled back causing my blood to boil.
"You lost that chance when you rejected her, and you can never win her back," I hissed.
"As long as she does not bare your mark I still have a chance," he said with a little too much confidence.
"Well you can't win her over if you're dead!" I roared and turned in to my wolf.
"It is not I who will be dead my friend," he yelled as he turned into his wolf.
We circled each other waiting for one to begin the fight. My wolf craved for the blood of the one who wished to take his mate away and so did I. The pain and the anger of losing her consumed me, and with that I launched at Roy's back missing it by a few inches as he had rolled over on his back. He dug his nails into my right shoulder.

I yelled in pain, but I quickly bit down on his front paw causing him to retread it back. I bared my teeth at him and was ready to attack again. We ran at full speed at each other and collided with force all you could see was our paws colliding with our bodies, blood and fur flew everywhere, but I wasn't going to back down, and I felt Roy wouldn't either he was as stubborn as me.
But I knew I was stronger. Roy had slacked of as alpha, and in working out which gave me an advantage. I kicked his back leg causing him to lose his balance and fall back. I jumped on top of him, he was now at my mercy his throat was at my my reach, but before I could bare my teeth into his throat and end this all at once a pack member came and stopped me from doing so.
I turned to look at him with anger he had stopped me from doing what I wanted. I nodded at him telling him to go on with what he had to say. He understood and pointed at the house I didn't understand and I nodded once again.
"She's awake," he said.
I shifted into my human form and was handed a pair of shorts.
"Who's awake?" I asked.
"Kristen she just woke up," he responded.
"Thank you. You may go now," I said
He nodded and walked away.
I waited for Roy to shift and change. We need to clear this up with Kristen she has to decide now will it be me or will it be Roy.
"Hunter-" I cut Roy off
"Save it, it ends now we will talk to her, and she will have to chose who she stays with," he nodded and said nothing more.
We walked up the stairs in silence. I didn't bother making conversation with him I was still furious at what I had barely found out, and as you already know I don't take things like that so lightly.
I opened the door and walked in not bothering to knock. She was sitting up now and when she saw us her eyes went wide. I'm sure she figured out what happened outside as she saw the cuts and bruises all over our bodies.
"Kristen we need to talk," I said.
"Right now it's not the time," she said.
"Right now is the time Kristen!" I yelled.
"I have nothing to talk to you about," she hissed.
"Oh yes you do. As your mate I have the right to know about everything that happens to you," I told her.
"Well so far you have done a shitty job as one don't you think," she hissed
"Kristen don't start," I bit back.
"No I will start!" she yelled.
"Kristen stop being so fucking difficult," I yelled.
"I'm not being difficult!" she yelled.
"Yes you are you're being a bitch about it!" I regret those words the moment they left my mouth.
"Get out," she whispered the pain clear in her voice.
"Kristen-" she cut me off
"Get out!" she yelled
"Kristen I didn't-"
"Get out! Get out!" she yelled and began to throw things my way.
she pushed us out the door, and slammed it on our faces.
"Kristen!" I yelled as I punched the door.
"Leave me alone," she yelled through the door.
"Kristen let me in!"
Roy touched my shoulder and shook his head.
I kicked the door one last time and walked away angry. She can't avoid me forever, and sooner or later things will have to be cleared, and a choice will have to be made all I hope is that she chooses me over Roy. For now I will leave her alone.

Core Chronicles
Core Chronicles is a series of interrelated stories, including in-depth major story arcs and shorter side stories about Cores and those affected by them through direct and indirect means. The first arc is planned to be Dungeon Core with City Building elements in an Urban Fantasy setting. It will mainly follow one main character's point of view, but on occasion, the POV may shift to side characters to give more information about what is happening in the wider world. The stories will also examine how the world changes with the introduction of magic and its various purposes. The System will be between soft and crunchy, with discrete levels and stats for characteristics and skills. But, for example, the health statistic will be a less clear indicator rather than a distinct stat.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
