《Soulbond [Rick Sanchez Fanfiction]》11. Phoenix Person

"AAAH!" We all scream in unison as we more or less crash into the NX-5. We flew so fast and out of control that the few guards that protected the ship failed to hit us a single time. We definitely need another way out of here though because the spaceship is ruined.
"Is everyone okay?" I call out as I stumble out from the vehicle. Smoke is pouring out from behind me with a hiss before the engine stops completely with an angry sputter.
"Yeah" Summer grunts and rubs her head.
"Im f-f-fine" Morty stutters and brush his clothes from dust and debris. We all stare at the destroyed ship but I soon tear my gaze away to look around. We made a hole in the gate when we flew in so the oxygen is escaping, we must get away from here. Im surprised we seem to breathe the same air as these aliens but that's something we probably should've thought about earlier...
There are other ships that we pass by as we leave the area, one of them I recognize but its in bad condition, I dont know anything about these flying machines but im pretty sure its not going to fly again.
"Rick..." I sigh and let my hand run over the rough surface as we pass by. My other hand unconsciously rub my arm soothingly as I recall the pain from earlier. He cant be dead can he? Then I would be able to tell? We exit through a huge door and find ourselves in a long, wide corridor, there are some open rooms on the sides, others are closed. The walls are dark blue metal and cables are running along the corners. In the roof there's light sources in a beautiful pattern and I find myself admire the alien creation.
This place is massive...
"How will we be able to find him?" I ask, worried, afraid that time might be running out.
"Cant you like... use your bond or something?" Summer asks while wiggling her fingers in the air. I shake my head.
"Even if I could I wouldnt know how..." She nods understandingly and we proceed forward with caution. This is an enemy ship, Summer called them Gromflomites, why do they even want to destroy earth? What have we done against them to deserve this?
"Shh!" Summer hisses and we all seek cover by pressing ourselves closer to wall. There's voices coming from a room in front of us. Morty being short and using it to his advantage sneak forward to peak and soon holds up two fingers. Two aliens I assume? We look at each other, wondering what to do when im struck by pain yet again, it almos takes me down but I manage to keep standing, I bite my lip hard to not make a sound.
"Fuck" I hear Summer hiss as she notice my distress "Morty? Any ideas?" Morty shrugs then suddenly wanders out in the open, I open my mouth wanting to question his stupid action but before I can utter a sound he starts to run down the corridor, his steps echoing in the silence.
"Did you see that?!" I hear an unfamiliar voice and soon two bug-looking creatures exit the room to set off after Morty, they didnt even bat us an eye. Thank god!

"Will he be alright?" My voice shake with discomfort as Summer support my body with hers to continue.
"I think so" Her brows furrow "Come on, we need to keep going" We stumble forward, ears and eyes tensed in search for my soulmate and her mom, or... mothers?
"If Rick dies..." I start but cant continue, the thought too scary to be said.
"He wont, you'll be okay" Summer reassure me. When we suddenly hear strange noises and screaming we increase our speed. Just as we walk around a corner we instantly move back again. There's laser beams shooting all over, piercing the walls, I spot a tall, robot, bird-looking humanoid, and... two Beths? In the middle of it all is Rick, busy fighting the humanoid. He seem to notice our presence because he turns his head to the side and we lock eyes. For a split second I spot fear in his orbs but the next he's sent flying across the room and I gasp in horror. Beth and... Beth are both lying on the floor, desperately trying to get up but they're both shaken and probably injured.
"Mom!" Summer screams and dont hesitate before running towards them. I follow her slowly, unsure of what I can actually do, I have no fighting skills? I have no weapons? But Rick is in pain, that's one thing for certain and it makes me proceed forward. He's bleeding, a lot, the skin on his face burnt and he has a bleeding hole in his shoulder. I stare as the humanoid walks towards him menacingly and im struck with the fact that he is going to kill him. I dont know if it's the soulbond who gives me an adrenaline rush but I shrug off all the distress and aim for the bird creature. I jump onto his back, desperately clinging onto him in an attempt to get him away from my destined partner. His body is hard as rock, cold, the metal smooth and hard to stay on.
"Get away from him!" I scream but we only wrestle for a minute before he throws me off with ease. I fall hard with a grunt and look up. His left eye is glowing red and right at me.
"Hey you! Stay away from her!" I hear Rick scream but there's no use, im the new target. We stare at each other and my eyes dart to each side in search for a possible escape route but I cant beat this creature, if Rich lost against him, or it, then what chances do I have?
"Y/N!" I hear Beth scream from my right and a gun slides over the floor towards me. I quickly throw myself at it but the humanoid is faster, his reaction time much better than mine and he steps on my arm just as I grab the gun, his bird-like feet digging into my skin and I scream.
"You ass!" I shout at him but I cant move, the more I struggle the deeper his claws sink into my flesh, the more blood seeps out. I look up, searching for help and I see Summer, she runs, slides on the floor like a superwoman and grabs the gun, then shoots, the laser bullet pierce the humanoid's chest but he doesnt even flinch and now his attention is all on Summer instead of me. His claw retracts from my now injured arm and he attacks, flying at my friend with a wild screech that hurt my ears and I flinch where I lie on the floor.

"Dont you dare touch my child!" The two Beth's shout at the same time. The chaos and sharing Rick's pain is is too much to sort so I freeze on the spot as they battle around me, mentally cursing myself for being weak as shots and lasers flies over my head. Then suddenly I head a loud thud and everything grows silent. When I open my eyes the bird creature is lying on the floor. Is it over?
I open my mouth to ask but when I hear Rick whimper from the pain I scramble up on my legs and run towards him.
"Oh shit" I gasp as I see the shape he's in and sink down to my knee's next to him where he half lies down. How he can even be alive I dont know but im glad he is.
"What can I do?" I plead, my hands hover over his frame. Im afraid to touch him, what if it hurts him more?
"Take me to my lab, I can patch myself up there" He hiss as he tries to get up.
"But we dont have a ship anymore?"
"I do" One of the Beth's speaks and I look up at her as she steps forward. Now upon closer inspection I notice that the side of her head is shaved, her hair is dyed with blue stripes and she has a scar running over her eye. Why is there two of them? Is she from another dimension? Rick did say that's there's infinite of himself so there must be infinite Beth's as well right?
"Where is Morty?" The other Beth asks and Summer looks around.
"I-Im here!" Morty comes waltzing. He looks unharmed, much to my relief.
"Oh thank god" Beth exclaims and runs over to hug her son and then and there I miss my own parents.
"Alright alright, lets go and help me take him with us, I dont know what that Tammy bitch did to him but I can fix it" Rick whines impatiently and point towards the bird creature lying lifeless on the floor.
"Who is he?" I ask, my non-injured arm under his to support as he stands up.
"Birdperson" He respond. I squint my eyes and a light turns on in my head. He was on the picture with Rick? From the band? So they are or were friends? Was it his house we were at?
We all squeeze in on space Beth's ship and she flies us back to Earth, just as we land the NX-5 explodes in the sky and we look up in awe as fire falls and ceases in the atmosphere.
"What just happened?" They all ask.
"I left a present" Rick explains, bored out of his mind "Come on" I change position to keep him more steady and we slowly make our way into the garage.
"Do you need help?" Beth ask but I shake my head and smile at her.
"Im good, I've done this before" To this Rick scoffs.
"Alright" Beth smiles back at me but completely ignores Rick. Whatever happened today I think Rick might be behind it, why else would he get the silent treatment?
The others head into the house and Rick slumps down on his chair.
"Do you need anythi-"
"Why did you come?" He interrupts me whilst reaching for a shelf under his work bench, only to grimace as his injuries sting.
"What do you mean?" I ask as he shoots himself on the shoulder with something that instantly heal his wound.
"You know what I mean" He scoffs without looking at me "Pretty fucking stupid to-"
"You were hurt, I could feel it too" Now its my turn to shut him up and my words makes him look up at me.
"It was still a bad idea, I could handle it"
"I could see that" I tease and his unibrow lower into a displeased frown.
"Come here" He holds his hand out for me and I move closer. He grip my injured arm; giving it the same treatment as he did to himself and the relief as the pain subsides makes me exhale deeply.
"Thank you" I breathe and he keeps holding my arm for a while, the closeness send sparkles between us and it feels so good to be close to him again so I almost instinctively wrap my arms around his frame.
"What are you doing?" He question but doesnt push me off.
"Let's just stay like this for a while. You scared me..." Like ice cream a warm day his presence soothes me.
"Ugh.. fine..." His long, thin arms comes up to hug me back. He sighs like im a burden but I can feel him relax from my touch as well. My heartbeat lowers and I inhale his scent through my nose. My face buried in his shoulder and soon I feel him lean onto me just as desperately as I do onto him. His hands come down to lift me onto his lap, bringing us even closer.
"Dont ever leave me again.." I whisper against him.
"I wont..."
"Why did they even attack us?"
"I've been messing with them before, that Tammy girl is one of Summers old friends and now Beth... eh.. space Beth fought them as well so..." I can feel him shrug "Its a long story"
"Oh.... okay.. so why is there two Beth's?" I lean back a little to look at him. He looks tired.
"She wanted me to decide whether she should leave the family or not, and I couldnt decide so I..."
"So you made another Beth? Can you do that?"
"I can do anything" He frowns again and looks grumpy like my question upset him but then his eyes fall onto my lips and before I can process he latches his onto mine.

For Joshua Still, Skills were the lifeblood of his business. He wanted to understand them, collect many of them, and teach a few of them. Or, so says the Tailors Guild. The same could be said by the Blacksmiths, the Bakers, the Butchers, the Candlestick Makers, the Mages, and every other Guild with enough money and clout to complain. But still, Skill Trainers provide a valuable service, and so he has managed to start his business and keep it under the table. To a degree. With many a bribe. But his quiet anonymous life of research, practice, and training was about to change. When the Baron demands you pay him a visit, you have little choice.
