《Soulbond [Rick Sanchez Fanfiction]》10. The Galactic Federation

I've been thinking a lot about my last encounter with Rick but I havent gotten to any conclusions, more like speculations about his childhood and life that might explain the way he behaves but its all just a waste of time, it doesnt matter anymore, we were never ment to be together, the universe must've fucked things up and it left us both miserable.
Im back to school, patiently waiting for the aching to subside, im not sure how Rick will make it happen though, will it be instant? Or will he have to do something to me? I make a halt in the corridor and frown. Do something to me? That sentence makes me imagine other things...
I suddenly feel a bump and I stagger two steps forward to regain my balance.
"Oh, Summer"
"Im sorry, I didnt see you" She apologize but I shake my head.
"There's no need, I was the one at fault" We look at each other for a moment like a silent conversation and in that moment I realize we're good, still friends.
"Oh L/N" I turn my head and notice Mr Gum "How is it going with...eh..." He looks at Summer and she gets the hint and moves away with an awkward wave but curious glimpse in her eyes.
"How's it going with your soulmate?"
"Oh" I feel my stomach drop, I forgot I spoke to him about it, not even his kind words could help but im grateful for his attempt "It... It didnt work out at all" I give him a half smile and the pain caused by being away from my destined partner feels if possibly even worse. Mr Gum looks at me with widened eyes and then pulls his chaotic hair back to remove it from his yes, it doesnt really help because it bounces right back.
"Im sorry" He sounds genuine "I didnt expect it to go that way" He looks almost stunned like the thing itself was so unlikely to happen that he cant grasp it. It is, I dont think anyone else can remove the bond like Rick can? He shakes his head and try to find words. The corridor is soon completely empty since the classes are starting.
"How are you holding up?"
"To be honest? Not great but it'll get better" My response makes him smile back but his eyes are filled with sorrow. He doesnt know our plans to remove our bond, he doesnt know that im waiting for the pain to go away because as far as he knows I'll be miserable forever.

Suddenly everything goes downhill.
The floor beneath us starts to shake violently.
"What is happening?" I gasp and struggle to keep my balance by leaning against the lockers.
"Y/N!" Summer hooks my arms and drags me down the corridor towards the exit, I reluctantly follow her without question. As soon as we reach the outside she comes to a halt and her gaze is raised up towards the sky. I let my jaw fall in chock. A giant spaceship is casting a shadow over us, its red with two "arms" curling forward, the back part is round in a blueish tint.
"We are getting invaded" Summer speaks.
"By what? Or who? And why?" I look at her then around me, we have been joined by other classmates, all just as confused and scared as we are.
"The Gromflomites" She responds.
"The what?" I look at her with an cocked eyebrow.
"Congratulations Earth on being destroyed by the NX-5" The giant ship calls out from its speakers and I notice a green light fire up with a crackling noise. We both flinch back when a beam suddenly whooshes down on earth. Debris float up only to fall back down and I shy away even though it's blocks away.
"We need to go" Summer grabs my arm again and pulls me away from all the commotion. In the back of my head I have this memory, this uneasy feeling that maybe this is what Rick ment when he spoke about him having many enemies. Is it the soulbond making itself known by sharing our thoughts?
"Hey! Stop for a minute" I pull my arm free and Summer turns towards me "Where are we going?"
"Home!?" She looks at me like im mad for even asking.
"Why?"
"Rick have fought these assholes before, maybe he knows what to do"
"He... fought them before?" So I was right.
"Yes, come on!" She impatiently continues to pull me along but before I manage to take a single step I double over when my body is whacked with intensive pain. My knee's are rubbed raw against the concrete, probably ruining my pants in the process but im too focused on the stinging which I cant even locate.
Its everywhere. In every limb. In every nerv.
"Y/N?" Summers voice eventually reaches my ears as I come to my senses and manage to somewhat battle the invincible attack "Are you okay?"

"Im... im okay, I think? But something is wrong" A light goes up in my mind, the invasion, my pain. I look up into Summers terrified eyes "Its Rick" My words makes her even more frightened and it becomes clear to me how much she cares about him, they all seem to do despite his wicked personality.
"Come on!" She helps me up and we continue running. I struggle to keep up but the fact that Rick might be in danger is enough to keep me going. If im in pain he must be even more so.
As we spot the Smith's house the pain has subsided but its turned into worry as I see Morty and Jerry on the street next to the driveway. Alone.
"Where is grandpa?" Summer questions.
"He went t-to save mom... a-and mom" Morty stutters and point towards the giant spaceship in the sky.
"Wait, what?"
"That Tonya, Tammya..? Tamara?"
"Tammy?" Summer corrects Jerry "Was Tammy here?"
"She took Beth, and eh... space Beth" Jerry looks as confused as he sounds. Was there two of them?
"Okay, explain" Summer demands, that's when im struck with pain once again, this time worse than before and I grunt while falling to the ground. The Smith's gasps but I cant hear if they're saying anything. I cant even breathe. Then as suddenly as it came it goes down a little in strenght which allows me to take a breath.
"Its bad" I manage to caw out through the pain waves and proceed to hug my stomach as I feel like someone stabbed me in the gut "We must help him"
"H-h-he must h-have something in his garage, we need h-help" Morty stutters and Summer helps me up and towards the garage doors. I sit down on Rick's chair, his scent is all around me; filling me with comfort but only for the time being.
"There must be something useful in here" Summer grunts with frustration and rummage through all of Rick's gadgets and things. Me and Morty joins her while Jerry stands in the background awkwardly fiddling with his thumbs. Eventually, after pressing all and everything we can find, a button makes a blue creature appear in front of us with a poof. He got a round head and long limbs, his eyes small and mouth wide in a smile.
"Hi! Im Mr Meeseeks look at me!" Whilst I stare at the odd looking creature with chock mixed interest both Summer and Morty breathe out in relief.
"Mr Meeseeks, help us find a way to get up to that ship" Summer demands. They seem to have met this thing before?
"Oh yeah! Can do!" The blue creature joyfully exclaims and walk towards one of the shelves where he pulls a well hidden lever that we somehow missed. The ground starts to shake and the ground opens on the driveway. Jerry throw himself aside. The Meeseeks thing seemingly explodes into thin air. We walk closer and a ship has appeared.
"In my driveway?!" Jerry grunts with disapproval och put his hands on his hips. We all stare at the ship that's very unlike the one Rick usually drives around in, its slimmer, in a way more modern.
"Can we drive that?" I point towards it and then glance up in the sky, the thought itself terrifying but Summer scoffs.
"How hard can it be?" I can tell by her tone that she's not as cocky as she tries to act but we still step closer and open the door, squeezing ourselves inside, Summer behind the wheel, Morty on the passenger seat and me behind them.
"What about Jerry?" I ask but he doesnt look very interested in joining us.
"He can eh... stay here and guard the house?" Summer shrugs and we close the doors. She presses a button after some hesitation and the ship starts.
"That m-must b-be the-the up button" Morty guesses and point towards something random.
"Is this even a good idea? What will we even do when we're up there?" I shake my head, are we actually going to attempt flying a spaceship? Why arent Morty and Summer more scared? They seem more determined. Perhaps they're used to this, being related to Rick must put them in a lot of strange situations.
"We must do something" Summer sighs and grabs the wheel with both hands "Press the button Morty"
I hold on tightly to their backrests and bite the inside of my cheek.
Let this go well.
Please.

My House of Horrors
The hearse with the weird odor slowed to a stop before the entrance. The sound of pebbles could be heard bouncing on the ceiling. There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and there seemed to be someone sawing next door. The door knob to the room rattled slightly, and the faucet in the bathroom kept dripping even though it had been screwed shut. There was a rubber ball that rolled on its own underneath the bed. Wet footsteps started to surface one after another on the floor. At 3 am, Chen Ge held a cleaver in his hand as he hid beside the room heater. The Grey Realm, an Erebus Story.
Written by: Staugroan and The Inklets. Edited by: Claudia Adams. In the beginning there was a god, who watched over and made one world his own. Soon after the god grew restless, but happened to stumble on a small world filled with life. This world was named Erebus by its peoples; humanity. The god was so fascinated with this new world that he started to copy it back home, creating oceans, forests, deserts, and so forth. Then the god created life and eventually his favored creations who would be immortals and be the better of mankind in every way-the elves. So often the god had traveled to Erebus that the two worlds became linked by magic and their inhabitants could cross at will. Relations between the races flourished, and a great empire was born in the Grey Realm, home of the elves. But the god once again grew restless, and set loose great beasts that stood at the top of any food chain, the apex. At first the elves met the challenge and fought them head on. But mankind was not so lucky, they died in droves to push back even a single apex. Something had to be done. Elves and man worked together to begin sealing off the worlds to protect mankind, to limit the ways in and out to better fight the apex off and keep their fellows safe. The ritual had adverse effects the likes of which neither the elves nor man could predict; the sealing of the worlds started slow, but the magic had never been done before, and in their ignorance it spread to completely cut the two worlds off from one another. It ejected the apex, and other magical being back into the Grey Realm, saving Erebus. At first the elves were content, they would find a way back once the apex were dead and gone. But the seal had done more than keep Erebus locked away. The powersource of the seal was magic itself, from both worlds, and it consumed it all greedily. The elves, weakened without their magic, crumbled into ruin, and the apex were free to hunt the other races of the Grey Realm. Two-thousand years later a strange phenomena is occurring and magic is slowly returning to the Grey Realm, and tears open that allow passage to Erebus. Thu'lain and a few elves must make the journey to fallen kingdom of the elves Anosora, in the hopes of reclaiming what was once theirs. They must face their nemesis the apex, and survive not only the species that have turned against them, but a terrible being left behind by the god to kill even the apex. Uch'l'thein, the faceless terror.
