Spare Me Alpha But I Want Your Beta

Chapter 15- Accusations and Introductions

Nathaniel's POV

As I walked out of my room, my body tensed with anticipation. I groaned; how was I going to function with bluebells? God, she was so ready for me; shaking my thoughts away, I drove to the pack house. Whatever was going on better be a damn good reason for interrupting me.

When I'd pulled up, I'd seen Adam with his mate Christine. I walked over to them. "What's going on, Adam?" I questioned.

"It seems that Addison was attacked by a rogue. We went around the perimeter and came up empty. There was no sign of any trespassers or scent," he stated, pulling Christine closer to his side.

I frowned. "Did you catch a scent on her?"

"Nothing man, just hers. She kept asking for you, that's why I had to call you. I tried linking you, but you kept blocking me out," he said with a raised brow.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "I was busy," I growled. He pushed Christine behind him a little. I shook my head annoyed. Addison was the one causing havoc in my life these past days. Looking away from them, I walked in to the house. The guys were in the living room. They turned and looked at me. "Where is she?"

"She's up in her room. Mary is checking her now," Matt said. I nodded before turning towards the stairs.

"Uh, before you go up there, I think you should know that she's saying the rogue who attacked her was Alexa," he said. Anger washed over me, my body was shaking with fury. A merciful growl left my lips I took a flight up the stairs, and faintly heard my name being called behind me.

I busted Addison's door open, hearing a screeching yelp from both Mary and Addison. "Mary, please gives us a minute" I all but growled, looking towards Mary. She quickly gathered her things and left the room. I heard some of the guys behind me without turning my back I gave them one last warning in a threatening tone. "Get the fuck out, now! All of you!"

"We can't do that, Nate, not in the state you're in your wolf is at surface. I don't want you to do anything you'll regret," Marcus stated in a firm tone.

"Fine!" I growled. I walked over to Addison's bed; she looked beyond terrified. I used my mind link to have every damn pack member in the front of the house now. "Get up, Addison," I said in a deceptively calm voice.

"I can't," she trembled. "I'm hurt, Nate!" she said. I firmly pulled the sheets off her and raised my eyebrows, looking sternly at her. "Get out of bed, Addison, or I'll carry you out you choose." I was so furious; I could hardly hold myself in. I knew how to control my anger, I would never lay a hand on any women so for these guys to think that way infuriated me even more. I waited patiently, my wolf barely ready to comply. If she pulled another stunt right now, I'd definitely lose my shit. She must have seen the warning in my eyes, because she got up with shaking legs. I took her firmly by her upper arm and began leading her out of the room.

"Let go of me, Nate! You're hurting me!" she whined. I pushed past the ones in my way.

"You want an audience, Addison, and I'm going to give you one," I said coldly. "And you're going to give them a show."

"What are you talking about? Let me go!"

Once we got outside, I released her. Everyone was gathered around, in response to my furious call just minutes ago. I pushed Addison in front of her fellow pack members. She stumbled but caught herself.

"Who attacked you, Addison?" I questioned her, using as much beta power behind my words as I could. She stayed quiet, ignoring my question.

"Answer me."

"She did! That stupid bitch that's has you wrapped around her finger" she growled. The lie sent a shot of fury down my body my fists clenched, and her eyes widened in response.

"Do you mean to say that Alexa attacked you, while she was herself in bed after being attacked by Mason? Is that right, Addison?"

She froze and went still. Now all eyes were on her, and murmurs had broken out. The guys knew the truth-they stood with hands folded over their chests, watching the girl squirm face pale as a ghost. I looked at her with cold, unyielding eyes.

"Addison, I'm going to ask you again. Who attacked you?"

"I don't know," she whispered.

"I didn't catch that; speak louder."

"I SAID I DON'T KNOW!" she yelled. Her lips trembled and her knees quivered. I sighed, letting out my fury and frustration. Could she be any sillier? I wanted to pity her, but she'd brought this on herself.

"So you lied to your pack members and tried to pin the blame on an innocent person," I said. "Why did you do it, Addison?"

"She doesn't deserve to be here or a part of our pack. She's a rogue! The same ones who killed your parents, and the same one you're sleeping with!" she said. Her words sent hot knives of fury twisting through my gut. I didn't know how I managed to control my temper, but the look I gave her must have scared her; she cringed away. How dared she speak of my parents or Alexa like that? Before I could say anything else, Marcus came to me and put one hand on my shoulder. "Calm down, Nate."

"The hell I can calm down!" I growled at him. My wolf was bursting to emerge. Marcus saw the fury in my eyes and stood between me and Addison. "She's foolish, but you can't attack her, Nate. You're Beta. You have responsibilities. Go home-I think Alexa needs you more than Addison does."

I glared at Addison, who was frighten, and she winced at the anger in my eyes. A low snarl erupted from my throat, but before I could act on my anger, I stomped it down.

"Thank you, everyone," I looked around, giving a nod of dismissal, and the crowd disappeared. With one last glare at a shaking Addison, I left the clearing and shifted into my wolf, letting anger and frustration out, away from any eyes. When I'd calmed down sufficiently, I went home.

After I got back home, I shifted and changed in the garage into a pair of boxers and running shorts. I was so worn from the past couple of days, I felt like a walking zombie. I made my way to my room and slammed the door behind me.

"Don't you think that door has had enough for one day?" a sweet delectable voice muttered.

I looked up and saw Alexa sitting in the middle of my massive bed, watching TV. I walked over to the bed and sat at the end of the bed throwing my body back so my head was on her lap. She looked down at me running her fingers through my hair. I shivered at her touch, loving how perfect she was. I closed my eyes, savoring this moment of peace. She gently trailed her delicate fingers down my chest.

"How did it go?" She asked. I opened one eye to get a glimpse of her. Those emerald eyes were searching my face with concern. I didn't want to worry her.

"Nothing, just some good old pack problems. I'm just exhausted; I took on extra responsibility since the Alpha's been gone. Thank god he's coming back tomorrow," I said, rolling my hand down my face. I felt Alexa’s lips on mines without opening my eyes, I enjoyed the kiss she placed gently on my lips. She crawled over me until she was straddling me. She looked down at me with worry.

"You're drained, Nate. Why don't you wash up, and I'll cook my man some dinner?" she purred in my ear. I smiled. Her 'man'... oh, I loved the sound of that. My eyes popped open and I sat up, knocking Alexa off the bed before I caught her and pulled her up.

"Jeez! Nate, you scared the shit out of me!" she slapped my chest. "What was that for?" she asked.

"I forgot to tell you, the guys wanted to come over tonight with their mates, so that you could get to know some of them so it wouldn't be uncomfortable for you. I know Dahlia knows a few people from school. So I figured maybe you would want to know a few adults around here too," I said, unsure of how she might feel. She smiled my body relaxed.

"That's really nice of you, Nate. Thank you for thinking about my feelings," she said sweetly, "What time did they say they would be here?"

I looked over at the cable box; it was almost five. 'Adam, are plans still on for tonight?' I asked, unsure after the events earlier. 'Yeah, Nate, we're good man. We should be there by five thirty,' he said.

'Alright.'

"In a half hour," I flashed her a sheepish smile. She gave me a stern look with her perfectly plucked brow arched. I got up from the bed and threw her over my shoulder.

"Nate! Put me down!" she yelped when I smacked her ass. I laughed while she was hitting my back with her little hands. "Where are you taking me?" she questioned while she dangled like a rag doll over my shoulder "To the shower; I want company," I started with a smirk. I was a foot away from the bathroom door when I fell to the floor, groaning from the most painful wedgie that had my balls split between the fabric of my boxers. I rolled over to find Alexa laughing hysterically on the floor, her face flush with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Oh my god, that was a good one. Ah, that made my day," she said with a giggle. She crawled over to me, nibbling on my ear lobe. "You, big boy, are going to have to stick this one without me. I already showered, plus I need to get dressed. I only got twenty minutes," she said while getting up and reaching her hand out to help me up. I arched my brow, unsure if she had anymore tricks on her mind. "Come on, silly, why do you always have a scowl on your face?" I put my hand in hers and jostled myself up. I groaned at the pain easing back between my groin. "Maybe because you just shoved my boxers up my ass while splitting my balls! You're going to pay for that later," I said in a low tone, while walking to the shower like a penguin. I heard a happy chuckle from behind.

Alexa's POV

After Nate walked into the shower, I couldn't stop laughing. I went over to my suitcase and pulled out a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a purple button up silk blouse, and slipped on my purple Toms. I left my hair down into its natural waves. I wasn't much of a makeup girl, so I just put on some lip gloss.

I started to feel a little nervous. What if they didn't like me? I hated being the center of attention, but Nate seemed to want me to meet his friends. I sat on the bedside chair. When I heard the bathroom door open, I looked up and saw a freshly showered Nate walk out with a towel around his waist. Damn, he was hot. I imagined my tongue running down the v-shape of his abs and the chocolate colored swirls of hair under his navel, and beyond that towel. Oh, what I would give to be a drop of water sliding down that beautifully sculptured man. I gasped when Nate dropped his towel. My faced heated instantly. I'd never seen a naked man before. He was so... My god, would that even...? I was brought out of my daze when I heard Nate laughing. I huffed "Who’s laughing now?" he asked, throwing the towel at my face.

"I just love how your eyes nearly fell out of your head. I told you, I would get my pay back" he said mischievously and walked to his dresser, his firm ass in plain view while he pulled out a pair of boxers. He looked over his shoulder at me. "And don't worry, it'll fit like a glove," he winked. "Nathaniel!" I yelled horrified that he knew what she was thinking.

"Hey, have you seen my sister?" I asked.

"Yeah, I think they were going to a movie with some friends," he stated as he finished getting dressed. In a pair of fitted dark blue jeans and a dark grey tee, is it even possible to look that good? I sighed. The doorbell rang just then, and my heart jumped. I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself, when Nate walked over to me and bent down so that he was eye level with me. He cupped my face and brought his lips to mine. "You'll be fine, I promise you. Unlike me, my pack members don't jump on rogues every other second." His words comforted me a little, and I pretended to look annoyed as he said that. "So you still hate rogues," I pointed out.

"Yes. Except two," he smiled, his eyes soft. They melted all my anger. He stood up, pulling my hand with his. "Ready to see the some crazy wolves?"

"Ready as I'll ever be," I smiled.

I entwined my fingers with his and we made our way downstairs. When we got to the door, I felt my heart pounding in my chest. Nate kissed the top of my head and squeezed my hand for reassurance. When the door opened, I was greeted by the first girl with a quick hug.

"Hi! I'm Christine. Wow, you really are gorgeous," she said. She had a short light brown pixie bob hair style, hazel brown eyes, and she was very pretty. She grabbed one of the guys' hands and pulled him close. He was a big guy, but not as big as Nate, and he had blonde hair, blue eyes, and a well built body. He was handsome. "This one's mine," she giggled. He smiled and put out his hand for me. I reached out and shook his hand. "I'm Adam, one of Nate's best friends, and third in command of this pack." I smiled. "Nice to meet you both. I'm Alexa."

The next couple was another big guy with black hair and grey eyes. Goodness, what was with these guys? Every one of them was utterly handsome and sinfully sexy. "Hello, I'm Marcus, and this is my mate Gemma," he said. Gemma was very geisha looking, tall with long raven black hair and dark brown, coffee colored eyes. There were two more guys who were last. "Hi Alexa, I'm Matt, and this is my brother Michael. We don't have mates, but we brought beer," he flashed his pearly whites. I smiled back. "Hey."

"Alright, ladies, we're going to the theater room to watch a fight, and you girls can go to the kitchen," Marcus said with a grin. "Hey!" we girls said at the same time. That broke the ice real quick. We broke out laughing and with that, the two girls walked towards the kitchen. I was about to follow when a hand reached out and stopped me. I turned and Nate pulled me close. "You going to be okay?" He asked me. I nodded. "Yeah, go; I can handle myself thank you for this," I reached up and kissed his lips. He smiled, and then walked off.

I braced myself, taking in a deep breath, and headed towards the kitchen. The girls had happily started making dinner. When they caught my presence, they turned and looked at me. Christine smiled. "Come here, girl! Tell us what it is like living with Beta Nate. He's just so scary looking all the time," she said, looking towards Gemma, who nodded in response. I didn't know what to say. "Well, it's been good so far. I mean, I just moved in not even twenty four hours go," I said, which was true.

"So are you nervous about the presentation?" Gemma asked, while throwing a huge box of shell pasta into some boiling water. "I guess, I mean I haven't been in a pack for many years now, but it will be something to get used to. Hopefully I won't have a panic attack while that happens. I know you guys are a very big pack," I stated. I started making dessert, since they had dinner covered. I decided on something quick. If I knew my sister well, she had Mason stack up on cheesecake ingredients. Looking through the cabinets, I hit the jackpot. Getting everything ready, I put my stuff on the table.

"So what's the Alpha like?" I asked out of curiosity.

Christine walked over on the other side of the table. "Oh, Alpha Nick, he's a really sweet guy. Don't get me wrong, he does what he has to do as Alpha, but he's just a normal guy like any of the others."

"Yeah, I heard him and his mate were out of town because of baby complications. They've been trying to have a pup for a long while. She just can't seem to hold them. She had two miscarriages before this," Gemma whispered. "That's horrible; poor thing, I hope everything works out for them," I said as I mixed my ingredients.

"I know. I'm so ready to start my family with Adam." I smiled at Christine; she was a sweet girl.

"Oh no, not me. Marcus is enough to handle. He's like three kids in one." We started laughing. I shook my head. After meeting Marcus, I could see why Gemma wasn't ready.

"There must be something more than your presentation tomorrow, because the preparations are very elaborate... stuff that you bring out only for big announcements. Like big news... the last one was when Alpha Nick announced Hannah as our Luna."

"I found it really strange that they weren't mates in high school, but when we all went to college and came back, she was his mate. It's bizarre. Hannah said it took her wolf longer to recognize Alpha Nick as her mate, and wanted to be sure," Christine said, putting the pasta in the oven while Gemma prepared the salad. I had two cheesecakes in front of me-- one with raspberry topping, the other with soft cinnamon apples.

"How lucky; were they high school sweethearts, and then mates. It was perfect for them. Not all of us are that lucky, which is why we're happy Nate has you, because he hated the world because he didn't find his mate. But now he seems happy, and he seems more relaxed," Gemma said. The heat rose to my cheeks. "Aww, she's blushing Christy." I shook my head, finishing up with my cheesecake. I placed them in the fridge to set.

"I think I'm falling for him. He's been very sweet and gentle with me. Well, not the first time. It's something I've been missing for a long time. Nate is a really good guy," I told them while they gushed.

"Let's go set the table, ladies. I'm sure the men are famished; they eat like hungry wolves," Christine said. I chuckled at that. After setting the table, the guys were called in for dinner. When they each walked in one by one, I felt like I was watching a live modeling show with very hot guys. Mine in particular. He walked over to me, snaking his arms around my waist from behind. He gently kissed under my earlobe. My eyes closed on impact. He pulled a chair out for me beside him. He sat at the front of the table with Adam in front of me, Christine next to him followed by Michael. Then Gemma sat next to me Marcus on her side, and Matt beside Michael.

"Everything smells great, ladies," Marcus said, placing a kiss on Gemma's cheek. "Alexa's made dessert; I can't wait to get into that cheesecake! I so wanted to lick the bowl," Christine said. Adam leaned closer to her a whispered in her ear which had a light pink hue rise to her face, and she giggled at whatever he'd said.

"Hey, get a room!" Matt yelled over the table. Christine narrowed her eyes at him. "Oh please, Matt. You practically devour half these girls in plain view of everybody. So stuff it!" She huffed. I smiled at their interaction with each other. They were all very close-- like a family. "Did you guys all grow up together?" I questioned.

"No, the girls didn't; they were from another pack, but we all went to the same school. A large group of us are pretty close. All we are really missing are Nick and Hannah," Adam said.

"Don't forget about Addison. Too bad she pissed Nate off today with what she tried to pull over him," Matt said nonchalantly. I looked over at Nate, who looked like he wanted to rip someone's head off. I heard a faint growl coming from him. I placed my hand on his. His neck snapped towards me. Once his marble grey eyes focused on me, his face softened. I gave him a smile and squeezed his hand assuredly, even though I felt a twisting pain of jealousy in my chest. I knew he had a past before me. As long as his past stayed in the past, we wouldn't have a problem. I heard a hard thumping noise.
