mar-vell's laboratory
She really liked blue on her. And the red markings were great. But the gold lining all over her body just put it all together nicely. Monica really has an eye for colour and great design. Maria should possibly encourage her in that direction because her daughter would excel in manipulating Kree clothes.
Carol and Maria were the anointed pilots for the quad—jet. Fury, Talos and Morrigan were strapped in the back. Monica was under the care of neighbours as Talos's science guy was the divergent. He shifted into Carol, pretending to be Vers. He even managed to modify the clothing to the Starforce uniform which was impressive. Before they left, Morrigan and Carol gave him as information as possible to fool Yon—Rogg it was actually the Vers he knew. Hopefully it worked. By the time the quad—jet was about halfway between the surface and space, everyone felt that the Kree were near.
Carol flicked a few switches and informed the passengers of the increasing altitude. Maria turned to the left of her seat and fiddled with some buttons. The others were trying to keep their seat belts on. Goose however, could fit no seat at all so Fury found himself much obliged to hold the cat during the ride. Talos, who was sitting quite close, feared for all on the jet. "You know you really shouldn't have that thing on your lap?" Morrigan raised brow just as Fury bent down to coo over Goose.
"My alliance with you, is tenuous at best." He picks up the said Flerken and pushes him into Talos's space. "But as long as he continues to freak you out..."
"It'll be forever hilarious." Morrigan chimed, loving the Skrull a cat.
Maria asked Talos if Skrulls could turn into anything. Of course there were such limitations but if they weren't listening before, Skrulls can shapeshift into anything biological. But then she asked if he could turn into a filing cabinet. Talos was so confused she'd ask that and not something like the biggest movie star of that moment. When Fury asked if he could turn into a cat, Morrigan scoffed as Goose looked up at Talos. The Skrull's eyes widened followed by the temptation of gambling by Fury's hand.
No one expected Carol to thrust the jet forwards, especially Morrigan. She'd suffered enough turbulence with Carol and Fury. "You good Morrigan?" She briefly nodded her head when the soldier glanced back at her with a cheeky smile. She knew Morrigan was not a fan.
When the jet slowed down and the engine softly died, it was sign they were in space. The sight of everyone lifting up from their seats and those with hair, having it float above, meant there was no gravity. Talos found joy in seeing Goose fumble in the air and have to grip onto Fury. The pilot quickly reset the gravity and everyone plopped back down.

"Locking in the coordinate grid." Carol pulled up a digital screen. Something was to pop up, but nothing did.
"Where is it?" Maria asked.
Talos and Morrigan unbuckled their belts and hurried to the front. "It's here. It's gotta to be here." The Skrull have the Queen a worried look.
"Well is it front... of all that nothingness... or behind it?" Fury piped up from behind Maria's chair.
An idea popped into Carol's head. Sticking out her arm, she open up her Kree device in her suit. Swiping through a few functions, she links the coordinates of the ship to her device. "Decloaking activated." A robotic voices streams out from the device, followed by a blue holographic image of a Kree vessel appearing.
It was Mar—Vell's laboratory. They'd found it!
Wasting no time, Carol and Maria manoeuvred the jet to the loading dock. Carol had initial control of the ship so it was easy finding the port. However, as the jet slowly crept into the port, the dim environment and lack anything lively was sign it hasn't been touched for a while.
The vessel's port door closed, followed by the descent of the jet's ramp. The team of unlikely members stride down it. Wondering where to go, Talos and Carol take the lead. Carol had knwloedge of the ship from Lawson's records back at the desert structure and Talos had this urgency to find the remainder of his people.
Carol and Talos worked together to navigate the team through Mar—Vell's ship. Talos carried a sensory in his hand that pointed in the direction of the power core. The corridors were vast and dull. Each step was a soft thud that could be felt through the floor. The three stragglers were trying not to get lost although Maria and Morrigan made mental notes to themselves about the pathway they were taking so they'd be able to to return to the jet.
When Talos came upon a double set of doors and walked straight through, everyone was able to see a blue hue of light in the darkness. In the center of the room was a circular structure that had blue glowing from inside. Sprawled all over the place were benches, storage blocks and other big Kree structures that appeared to have Midgardian and Kree items on top — weird.
Although, the blue that caught the eyes of Carol and Morrigan was stuck in a metal brace, as if it was to be contained. Goose had leapt out of Fury's arm and pranced up to the blue object and tried to paw at it. Morrigan pushed past Carol, her eyes consuming the sight of the Tessaract. "Is that it?" Maria asked as Carol idled up beside Morrigan, both slightly mesmerised by the cube.
"In her notes, she called it the Tessaract." The Queen slipped the cube out from its little podium.

She didn't want to disclose the fact that she was on Midgard for the sole purpose of finding the Tessaract. She told him the Tessaract was not on Midgard so she couldn't find it. If he found out she lied, there would be severe reprocustions. If these people found out the importance of the cube to her, there would be backlash.
She couldn't bring him the cube then. And she doesn't want to bring him the cube now. Morrigan needed to keep the Tessaract disclosed from the Universe, for the safety of her people. If the Skrulls or Midgardians take the cube after this, she will not be responsible for its location. She was before and that didn't end well.
She lied about it once. She can do it again. Thanos said finding the cube was her only mission, except when the time comes to get together for the end goal.
Playing it cool, Morrigan chucked Carol the cube. No one understood the immense power that thing had. As Carol dangled the cube, the three women gazed down before them to see some Midgard items on a bench. "What was Lawson doing with all this kid's stuff?" Her eyes trail over a metal box. Thinking it was a basic solution, she picks it up, pops the lid and Carol places the cube in. It was metal box with an Infinity Stone inside that was being carried around like a handbag. Fury then cleared his throat while motioning to the same bench. The three women find what he was gesturing at. A mug, with a hot liquid giving off steam. "We're not alone here."
All of a sudden, this foghorn noise starts to radiate from Talos. The others watch as the Skrull looks up, with his mouth open, blasting that noise for anyone to here as he twirled in one spot. Soon enough soft, mumbling growls echo from all sides as mechanical doors begin to open. Tensing up slightly, Carol and Morrigan brushed finger tips, letting the other know that they were ready.
Out from the shadows, Skrulls dressed in worn Midgardian clothes appear. Ranging from adults to children, all the refuge aliens wandered into the massive area on the ship. They were huddled together, frightened and curious to see who was here.
The others watched as a feminine Skrull rushed up to Talos, embracing him lovingly. The Skrull hugged her back as if it was the last time. They touched foreheads feeling complete with their other half in front of them. The reunion was sad. They'd been apart so long because of the war. "He didn't come here for the Tessaract." Carol said. She'd realised the Tessaract's location was his family's. That's why he needed her.
Talos's partner nodded her head, and look back. Morrigan could see the faint figure of a smaller Skrull emerge. The child returned to their mother's side, not knowing to reach out or not. Talos had knelt to their eye level, wanting to hold his baby. Instead, the child lent forward and their heads touched; the sensory feeling in their skin was their emotional communication.
"We didn't know what to do. Mar—Vell warned us not to send a signal for anything reason — or the Kree would find us." It pained her greatly that the Kree instilled so much fear and that she actually helped them do it. Talos consoled her, bringing their foreheads together again.
When he looked to the group watching them, so did the other Skrulls. Frightened, his partner recoiled and pushed her child behind her. Talos wrapped his arm around her and reassured everyone that it was okay and they were friends; allies.
Feeling most guilty in all of this, the two alien women walked down to where Talos was. Seeing all the hurt and pain across their faces up close was heartbreaking. "We are not going to hurt you." Talos told her that they'd helped him find her. Morrigan could feel the sadness and disappointment in her voice and how her face was so fragile from the regret. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know—"
The woman's eyes drifted to the Queen. The way her eyes glistened in fear made Morrigan feel even more guilty. "The Kree lied to us, and we believed them. I'm sorry."
Talos could see the watery eyes in both of them. "This is war. My hands are filthy from it too." Even though he tried to make them feel better, nothing could stop the remorse filling their guts. "But we're here now. You found my family. This is just the beginning." He looked around him, gazing at the survivors. "There are thousands of us separated from each other. Scattered throughout the galaxy."
A wholesome moment passed until Talos's child took hold of Carol's hand and lead her over to a Midgardian box, just like the one in Pancho's Bar. As Carol amused the kid, Fury and Maria hobbled over, relieved all the tension had died down. "If I played the same pinball machine, for six years, I'd have some high scores too."
"You reckon you could do better than the kid?" Morrigan joked, laughing as Fury stood back and looked at her in fake shock. Then as Fury was about to object, the sound of a door opening, followed by a squadron of footsteps, really messed up the whole reunion.

Dungeon Core? Nah, I Think I'll Just Get Super-Wealthy Instead
The cycle is simple enough. A Dungeon Core is born from a wayward soul. It seeks power and agency, and works to accumulate wealth to fuel its power, in turn using this power to accumulate further wealth. Inevitably, the mind is lost as desperation and ambition drive it to commit darker and darker acts. Shortly thereafter, the adventurers arrive to quell the core. This is a tale that has repeated itself countless times throughout history: all cores desire power. And yet, this core seems to have it backwards. It doesn't want to rule the world. It has no desire to enslave or conquer. No, this core doesn't want to be a warlord, a villain, or a tyrant. It wants to start a core-poration. After all, when money is power, what greater weapon is there than capitalism? Join a dungeon core that wastes an absurd amount of time and effort trying not to be evil on his journey to earn fat stacks against all odds. -This is a 'Dungeon Core' type fiction with LitRPG elements in it. The start may be fairly slow compared to the average. Expect roughly 2.5k per chapter. -I'm only a hobbyist writer. As such, there may be the occasional error and pacing may be poorly-handled. Constructive criticism is alway welcome. I'm just here to write stuff that makes my brain release the g o o d c h e m i c a l s. -I am trashy and I like monsterpeople so you can expect an awful lot of those as we get further in. Thank you for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy.

Contact Through Voided Lenses
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Edit: Fixed some inaccuracies in the synopsis. The void is a vast unexplored ocean filled with various wonders and dangers all waiting to be explored by those brave enough to travel and record. Many souls do find themselves brave enough to face the vast distances, the various risks to personal safety and do the hundreds of task required on a craft. However, at times the void itself can be boring with absolutely nothing to do but as time pass and more and better technology is reached, things got better. The various trips got faster, communications became faster than light and you can be home to see your loved ones after only months now. Through the various planets whether rocky or gaseous, the various stars whether small or giant, the various systems both eerily similar or completely alien. As part of an expeditionary scientific exploratory survey craft, one could see that the void offers no reprieve from all the discoveries and wonders. At times, it can feel empty and silent where no soul can hear you scream and at others it can be overwhelming with sudden phenomenon that can overwhelm the brightest of minds. The void itself is a truly fascinating ocean where one must chart the various islands or drown in its deadly tidal waves. But the question still remained no matter how you try to hide it in of itself… is there truly other intelligent life out there? Are we alone in this ocean? Those very questions still haunt the minds of those on the crafts themselves as they brace for every jump ready for the unknown and the known. Many would try to explain that yes there is other intelligent life out there whilst other still say no after 2 centuries of continuous flight out of the home system. Still, those are questions that bury deep in the minds of the crew and those at home as the voidcraft jumps to a system with a single yellow star orbited by 8 other planets with one crowning blue jewel being the 3rd closest with its 5 oceans and 7 continents, a planet called Dirt which is inhabited by a primitive species called Humanity. Hello, author here and this is my newest dive into writing particularly for the Writathon currently in progress being my first one. I hope you give me story a try but in case you still want more information on what you’re getting into, below are some pointers about the story itself. First Contact: CTVL is a story about a first contact scenario between an advanced alien civilization and a slightly more advanced modern day humanity on their planet called Dirt. Characters: The story will take place mainly on the perspective of the alien visitors themselves though there will be human POV characters who will show how the rest of humanity react through media and forums. Action: It won’t be an actual alien invasion but you have to see for yourself how well first contact went. Sci-Fi: I will be very forward here, I WILL bend the rules of physics in order to add in parts of the plot and there WILL be parts that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Theme: It will be a brooding story talking about the futility of pe… Just kidding, it’s mostly wholesome stuff to be honest here. Alien: The aliens themselves will… actually why should I tell you, you have to go and read it to find out what the aliens are though I will draw a few things here and there to aid in the process. Extra tidbit: If you are a grammar nazi or someone who really wants a realistic scifi story... this story is probably not for you at all. Anyways, that’s pretty much all I can say before I spoil something major of the plot itself, the story is slice of life so make sure that type of story is what you like because I am terrible with anything else as I found out, anyways, have a good time everyone and good luck to the other Writathon participants.
