She knew that it was going to be something that was going to have to be handled with a lot of care and sensitivity, but it was relatively simple. She knew everything that was about to go down, and even as they were beginning to make their trip to Mar-Vell's lab, everyone was talking and asking their own questions that they had for the Skrulls. But Poppy? She didn't really have any questions about what it was that was going to go down with the mission that they had. Usually, her powers kicked in at the wrong time when she was on missions, and she could only hope that it wouldn't happen to her as they were in space. Because that was the last thing that she needed -- to be in space and to have a ghost annoy the absolute shit out of her.
Poppy turned her attention over to Carol as she piloted the ship and she listened to every little thing that she heard, and it made her think about all of the things that the two of them had gone through. She couldn't help but think back to the mission that had nearly killed the two of them, but she knew that she couldn't think such negatively. That kind of thinking was enough to get someone killed, and she didn't want to become one of the ghosts that she saw on the daily.
As the ship pulled up to where it was that Mar-Vell's lab was supposed to be, all they saw was open and empty space. Poppy tilted her head to the side as everyone began to ask questions about where it was that the lab was, and she couldn't help but smile. There were only a few things that she remembered that Mar-Vell had told her, and one of the things was about the very lab that they were out to find. And, of course, Carol used the fancy tech that she had on her uniform to decloak the ship, and that was when Mar-vell's lab came into view.
The five of them made their way on board the ship, and Talos led the group in the front with Carol tailing after them. It didn't take them very long to get to the center of the ship, and that was when their eyes narrowed in on the power source that had been used in order to create the light speed engine that had blown up and given Carol and Poppy the powers that they had. Poppy stared at it for a few seconds, watching as Goose jumped up and stared at the device in front of him. The cat began to paw at the device, and nothing happened to the creature.

⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Is that it?" Maria questioned as she stared at the device in the room, just as everyone else had. "The core?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀ Carol stared at it intently as her head tilted to the side, "In her notes, she called it the Tesseract." Carol reached into the device and she plucked the Tesseract out of it, and she tossed it into the air before she caught it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ All of them continued to take a look around the lab, finding Troll dolls that they would've played with when they were younger. But as they looked over all of it, it seemed to get stranger and stranger the longer that they looked over it, "What was Lawson doing with all this kid stuff?" Maria questioned, and it was a good question to have.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Last I knew, she didn't have kids," Poppy commented as she stared at the Fonz lunchbox that sat on the table along with all of Mar-Vell's notes and the computer. Maria picked up the Fonz lunchbox so that Carol could put the Tesseract inside of it, and once it was closed, all of them heard as Nick cleared his throat.
That was when all of their attention was brought to a single coffee mug, that was still steaming hot.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "We're not alone,"
That was when Talos began to bellow into the atmosphere of the aircraft, and it wasn't too long before other Skrulls like him began to make their way into the room and Poppy's lips parted in surprise. She tilted her head to the side as all of them made their way in, and that was when an alien woman said Talos's name before rushing into his arms for a tight embrace.
That was when it was known why it was Talos wanted to find the lab.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "He didn't come here for the Tesseract," Carol pieced together, and that was when all of them began to walk as a young Skrull girl was introduced to the equation, and it was easy to assume that the young girl was Talos's daughter. But as soon as the young girl and her mother laid eyes on Carol, they recoiled in fear.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "It's okay, it's okay," Talos assured them, and that was when Carol began to make her way over toward them. "She's all right. She's a friend."

⠀⠀⠀⠀ Carol shook her head as she stared at Talos's family, "I'm not going to hurt you."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "She led me to you," Talos continued to explain to his wife, and Poppy pressed her lips together as her eyes looked over all of the other Skrulls that were in the area.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I'm so sorry," Carol apologized to them as she stared at them, and she shook her head as tears began to well up in her eyes and her voice began to choke up. "I didn't know."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Carol," Talos said as he turned his attention over to the blonde-haired woman. "This is war. My hands are filthy from it, too. But we're here now. You found my family." The two of them nodded to each other for a brief second, before the man continued. "This is just the beginning. There are thousands of us separated from each other . . . scattered throughout the galaxy."
Talos's daughter slowly approached Carol and chittered at her softly, before pulling her over to the pinball machine in the room. The young girl looked excited for herself to be at the top of the leaderboard with the high score on the game, and Poppy couldn't help but smile at the excited young girl. She was glad that she had something to do while they were hidden away in the lab because she didn't know what it was that she would've been able to do if she was locked up in Mar-Vell's lab.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "If I played the same pinball machine for six years I'd have some high scores, too," Nick muttered, and it was enough to cause Poppy to jab him with her elbow. The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds as she shook her head at him, but that was the last moment of peace that they had.
Because all they had to hear to acknowledge that they were in trouble, was Goose's meow.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Fraternizing with the enemy," Yon-Rogg spoke as he held Goose by the scruff, and Poppy clenched her jaw as she glared at the man. But even as soon as her and Fury were quick to grab onto their guns, the Kree woman looked at them and shook her head, telling them to put them down. But it wasn't that that Yon-Rogg was worried about, it was the state that Carol's uniform was in. "What did you do to your uniform?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "They got in her head," One of the other Kree members that stood behind him spoke. "Just like we thought."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "The Supreme Intelligence will set her straight," Another one of the Kree spoke, and all Poppy wanted to do was jump into the fight and get it all over with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "You can see they're not soldiers," Talos spoke as he defended the Skrull that began to huddle together in fear. "Let 'em go. You can have me."
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "And the core?" Yon-Rogg questioned them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ "You lied to me," Carol snapped at him as she gave the Kree a glare.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ The man only shook his head before he had anything else to say, "I made you the best version of yourself." That was when Carol glanced down to her wrists as the electricity began to crackle in her hand. "What's given can be taken away."
That was when they watched Carol lunge at him, ready for a fight, but she wasn't strong enough. Yonn-Rogg was quick to knock her to the ground and use the device on his armor to wrap around her throat. One of the Kree grabbed onto Maria harshly, as well as Poppy, as they grabbed the Tesseract out of the lunchbox that they had stored it in. All Poppy could do was glance over to the Skrull as they were pushed around by the Kree before she looked over to Carol.
Just in time to watch Yon-Rogg knock her unconscious and then drag her away.

The Undead Revolution
This was my first attempt at writing a story, in hiatus indefinitely. This story follows Silvy, half-elf, a rare race despised by both humans and elves. Having never met her father, the first years of her life were spent together with her mother, who had to leave her native village because of the blasphemy she had committed by giving birth to Silvy. At the age of eight, Silvy became an orphan and was left to fend for herself. Her mother had died of illness, Silvy’s life turning upside down: the child went from living in a modest but cozy home with poor but daily meals to live outside the walls in the slums, where crime was commonplace and food was scarce. Luck had yet to abandon her completely though, because a group of orphans like Silvy decided to help, integrating her into their group and teaching the tricks of the trade; that is, stealing and swindling. But fate had not yet finished playing with her. Kidnapped and frightened, her life will turn upside down again when she awakens as undead, but still able to think clearly.

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?
