Todoroki and Hawks cautiously trail the dark empty hallways of the League of Villain's hideout. The raid was currently in place. Hawks and Todoroki were tasked to retrieve you while the other heroes focused on defeating the League of Villains once and for all. Endeavor let the frontal assault. The two heroes had approximately 30 minutes to safely retrieve you. Once the thirty minutes are up, the League may try to come down to get you before they retreat for good.
Todoroki's eyes wandered to his partner. Hawks seemed to know where he was going. He knew about a path that wasn't outlined in the raid summary before. Hawk's vermillion wings seemed sharp. Hawks' body was relaxed though. His golden eye caught Todoroki staring at him. Hawks laughed and winked at the boy.
"Careful now. You know you have such a cold stare. I wonder if it runs in the family," Hawks chuckled. Todoroki quirked his eyebrows. He had to admit his father's gaze seemed a bit intimidating, but when it came to his siblings it wasn't nearly as cold.
"How do you know about this area," Todoroki blurted out. He wanted to know. Hawks had continuously given him suspicious feelings as if he knew more than he let on. Hawks just sighed and put his arms over his head.
"I thought I told you to trust me," Hawks muttered. Todoroki narrowed his eyes. Before receiving the man's help, Todoroki did agree to withhold any information he saw down here from the rest of the heroes. Todoroki just didn't understand why Hawks wanted him to agree to that though if he was purely innocent in matters. What does the number two hero have to hide?
The two heroes walked in silence together once they noticed cells. Inside the different cells were filled with different people tied up on a chair with ropes. All of their heads were down and they were mumbling under their breaths. Were these the brainwashed individuals? Todoroki reached out towards the bar of a random cell, but his hand was quickly snatched away by Hawks. Hawks' predator eyes narrowed at him.
"Don't. We'll blow our cover. Once we get (H/n) out of here, the rest of the heroes will come down and take care of everyone," Hawks explained. He hated leaving these people suffering, but Hawks was right. They needed to get to you and fast.
The two heroes continuously walked down the hall when they found you. Your head was down and you were strapped like the other victims were. Todoroki's heart quickened. He had hoped that you weren't hurt and still in your right state of mind. Hawks reached down to his pocket and grabbed cell-keys. Todoroki's eyes widened. How did Hawks get cell keys? Did he steal them from a villain before he got here? Hawks opened the door and you looked up at Todoroki. Tears were streaming down your eyes and a small smile appeared on your lips.

"S-Shouto..." you whispered out. Relief washed over Todoroki. He had found you. You were safe. You seemed happy to see him. He couldn't help but return a small smile. He tried not to cry looking at your battered figure. Todoroki got closer to you, untied your restraints, and wrapped his arms around you tightly.
"I'm so happy to see you," Todoroki confessed. You hummed in response, put your arms over him. Todoroki couldn't lose you again. After all the pain the two of you endured, and the pain he caused you....
He could finally say he loved you
Todoroki was suddenly pushed to the side. Hawks' feathers managed to push him away from you. Todoroki looked up to see you had a knife in your hands. A deranged smile was on your lips. Your eyes were filled with malice.
"Damn, Hawks. Why did you have to ruin the surprise," you said. Todoroki's eyes widened. You had tried to kill him? Were they too late, had they brainwashed you or was this because you had had enough. Pain swelled in his chest. He had deserved it—he'd hurt you so much.
"Hey, kid. Snap out of it. She's going to kill you if you don't," Hawks yelled out. Todoroki's body shook. Memories flashed through his head. He couldn't hurt you anymore. He refused to fight you, even if it ended up in his death. Todoroki remained on the ground, intensely looking up at you. He heard Hawks curse before his feathers shot around and sliced parts of your skin. You scream out, blood dripping from parts of the cuts and start laughing again.
"I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you Shouto Todoroki," you declared. Suddenly, your hair began to change. You looked down at your morphing body and whined. Hawks pulled Todoroki up as they looked at your morphing figure.
You had turned into Toga.
"Aw fiddlesticks! I thought I had enough blood. Looks like you two took too long," Toga declared. It had been Toga all along. She had tried to kill Todoroki, not you. Todoroki sighed once more before glaring at the villain. She sensed Todoroki's hateful gazed and laughed, revealing her sharp canines.
"Was I convincing? I heard the stuff you did to her. Word travels fast down here, Sho," Toga teased. Todoroki clenched his jaw before sending a block of ice her way. Toga immediately attached to the wall, still smiling. The temperature of the room reduced.
"That's all she kept saying. How she hated you. How she wished she didn't marry you. How you treated her," Toga giggled. She knew her words were getting to Todoroki. Hawks placed a hand onto Todoroki's shoulder. His golden eyes softened up.
"Come on. Let's go find her," Hawks said. Todoroki nodded. He glazed at Toga who just began laughing as she was stuck to the wall. She was still spouting information on how you hated him. With a deep breath, the two heroes left the defeated villain.

You looked up at Dabi, who had opened your cell. He untied your bonds. Your hands ached and there were markings etched into the skin. Your eyebrow quirked up at the villain helping you. You didn't understand why he was doing this. You knew that he declared you weren't going to be brainwashed by Shigiraki and whatever quirk user was responsible for it.
"What are you up to," you demanded. Dabi sighed, his turquoise eyes looked up at you.
"Can you stop asking so many damn questions. That's all that ever falls into your mouth," he complained. You rolled your eyes. If he wasn't so cryptic all the time, maybe you wouldn't be asking questions. He was a member of the League of Villains. He had plotted to take down hero society. So many succumbed to his quirk.
"You are literally a member of the League. Isn't it in your interest to kill me or brainwash me? Don't you want to take down hero society, especially Endeavor?" you blurted out. You didn't mean to egg him on, but you needed a proper response. Dabi closed his eyes for a second before opening them. A cruel smile appeared on his charred lips.
"I found other means of accomplishing my goal," he declared. What does that mean? Was he going rogue on the League? You hated his crypticness.
"Wha—" He placed a hand on your face. You could feel the smoothness of his healthy pale skin and the roughness of his charred skin. He placed a finger over his lips, hushing you.
"We don't have time for this. I need to bring you to my little brother and my pet chicken," he muttered. Now you were completely confused. Suddenly, Dabi hit your head across the wall. You had fallen onto the floor in pain. Your blurry vision was on the man.
What was he...
With that, the darkness overtook your vision.
Hawks and Todoroki were almost at the end of the hallway when a figure began to walk towards them. He had a body lugged over his shoulders. The two heroes stopped in place. Todoroki began to shift his body into a fighting stance, while Hawks kept his hands in his tan pants. It was Dabi and he was carrying you. Todoroki narrowed his eyes on the villain. He felt part of his body become colder. A chill breezed through the area. Hawks put his wings out, clearing Todoroki's view. Todoroki looked back at Hawks in shock. He couldn't understand why he was blocking his attack.
Once Dabi got closer, Hawks drew back his wings. Todoroki glared and clenched his jaw. Dabi had clearly hurt you. You were incapacitated. Unfazed from Todoroki's gaze, Dabi placed you on the hard floor in between the two heroes and himself. Hawks smiled towards the villain before him. Todoroki couldn't believe what he was seeing. Hawks seemed happy to see Dabi.
"Todoroki, meet Dabi," Hawks announced. This was why Hawks made Todoroki agree to not say anything to the rest of the heroes. Hawks was working with Dabi and the League. Dabi's turquoise eyes looked over at Todoroki.
"You'd know me as Touya," Dabi exclaimed. Todoroki's eyebrows furrowed. He had heard that name multiples times throughout his life, but his memory was foggy. He didn't understand why that name stuck out to him. He assumed his father or brother may have talked about it once when he was very young.
"I don't know who you are. Stand down and step away from my wife," Todoroki demanded. Dabi chuckled. He placed his hands into his trench coat's pocket. Dabi was clearly amused at something.
"Glad to see you actually care about her," Dabi replied. Dabi let out a deep sigh and smiled. His smile seemed wicked and cruel.
"Take care of Natsuo, Fuyumi, and mom," Dabi stated. Todoroki's eyes widened. He had said, mom. Did he know his mom? Dabi clearly knew Todoroki's siblings.
Was Dabi his brother?
Amused by Todoroki's reaction, Dabi chuckled once more. Dabi turned his body around and began to walk in the other direction.
"Make sure you dethrone that bastard," Dabi proclaimed. Todoroki took a step forward. Dabi couldn't leave after saying something like that. His eyes looked down at your unconscious form momentarily before looking up at Dabi's retreating figure.
"Who are you?" Todoroki demanded. Dabi ignored him, his figure disappeared in the distance. Todoroki was shaking. Dabi had to have been his brother. He couldn't believe how this could happen. Todoroki needed answers and now. Todoroki shot a block of ice at Hawks and attached him to a wall. Hawks cursed and flashed Todoroki a fake smile.
"What was that for," he chuckled. Todoroki menacingly walked over to Hawks. His dual-colored eyes were filled with anger. A shiver went down Hawks' spine.
"How do you know him? Is he my brother?" Todoroki demanded. Hawks simply looked at him, a smile still on his face.
"I told you to trust me. You shouldn't be worrying about this now. I believe your wife is unconscious and probably needs medical attention," Hawks replied. Todoroki glared at Hawks. He was right. He had to postpone his interrogation to take care of you. He heated up the ice as steam filled the cells. Todoroki reached down and grabbed you. His finger lightly caressed your bruised face.
"You are giving me answers as soon as this is all over," Todoroki demanded. Hawks stretched his wings out and sighed. A smirk was plastered on the winged hero's face.
"We'll see about that."

How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! Version 2.0 includes: - enhanced writing and editorial skills - additional information and aspects to characters - minor deviation from storyline and improvements

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.

He slowly backs up until his back is against the wall like my own, "You're..my neighbor?" He points to my door and I nod my head quickly. He hums softly, "You been here a while?" He asks and I nod my head once again. He chuckles, "Ya head hurt?" I nod again but stop as he laughs softly, "I-I mean.. no.. it doesn't." My cheeks burn red as I look at my shoes, "I-It doesn't hurt.." I repeat like a dummy and listen to him clear his throat, "So do you actually live there or was it bull?" He teased, making a giggle slip past my lips. I look away to the floor again, "I-I like big shirts... a lot." I mumble softly and he nods his head, "Hol' up." He puts his box down before walking over to one of the grey bins. I nosily watch as he pulls out a big grey sweatshirt, "Here." He holds it out for me to take and I stare at him with wide eyes, "F-For me?" I hesitantly grab the soft fabric as he chuckles, "Nah for ya mom." I puff my cheeks a little and give him a small glare, "Hush." He leans back against the wall and shakes his head, "It's cold out.
