[ start of night school part three ]

". Derek Hale."

Eleanor's mouth gaped open in horror and her heart dropped to her stomach as Scott lied to the oblivious trio before them. Her head hammered and for a second, she felt pure anger at the Hispanic boy. How dare he? Derek was alive, she knew that much, and now everyone would think he was a murderer.

Jaden, acting instinctively as always, stepped forward toward Scott in a threatening manor, his eyes almost glowing yellow if it were not for Allison, Jackson and Lydia. Eleanor held her hand out to the side and stopped him from going any further, her eyes wide as she tried to swallow the lump in her throat.

Jackson however immediately took action, moving both Allison and Lydia behind him as he backed away from the twins in pure disgust. "Get away from them. They could be working with him!"

And that's when things turned to utter shit. Eleanor and Jaden immediately turned to the oblivious three teenagers and furrowed their eyebrows. "What?"

Stiles shuffled closer to Scott, bringing the both into a heated conversation about what the hell Scott had just said, and how they were going to get Jaden and Eleanor out of it. Meanwhile, the twins had a fiery and angry Jackson on their hands, with a petrified Allison and Lydia cowering behind him.

"Step back! You're working with Derek, aren't you?" Jackson shouted, his teeth gritted and his nose scrunched in revulsion.

"Are you sure?" Allison questioned Scott, trying to ignore the possible murderers in the room as she stared tearfully at her boyfriend.

"I saw him." Scott falsely admitted, going along with his lie as he tried not to look at his best friends. He felt awful, but he had to stick with his lie, he couldn't have people knowing about the supernatural.

"The mountain li-"

"No, Derek killed them all. Starting with his own sister."

Eleanor felt sick to her stomach. Instead of the immense anger she had felt before, all she felt was sadness. It enveloped her and drowned her all at once, and she was suddenly finding it hard to breathe. Her hands began to shake and her heartbeat began to pick up its pace.

"Move! Move to the back of the classroom! Get away from us!" Allison shrieked, turning against the twins almost immediately after Scott built up his thread of lies.

Jaden furrowed his eyebrows, both angry and upset at the demand and the lies Scott had told. He was the more calm of the two however, and therefore reached forward to grab Eleanor, his voice calm and gentle as he murmured. "C'mon El."

But she was frozen to the ground below her. She couldn't move, she couldn't think straight, she couldn't even manage to breathe properly. Stiles took note of this and stepped away from Scott in annoyance, shifting over to Eleanor as he laid a hand against her cold cheek.

"Stiles!" Allison hissed. "What do you think you're doing? She's helping a murderer!"

He glanced back at the brunette and shook his head in disbelief, turning to Eleanor as he tried to hold eye contact with her. "Eleanor, look at me."

She quickly looked up, her eyes filled with worry and sadness and helplessness and all Stiles could think to call the look in her eye was lost. She looked utterly lost, and it broke his heart. He frowned and stared into her hazel eyes as he rubbed his thumb across her cheek, noticing the increase pace of her breath.

Jaden stepped closer to the pair, so that Jackson, Allison and Lydia would not be able to hear. "What's going on? She shouldn't even be able to have a panic attack." He scratched the back of his neck as he spoke and Stiles shrugged, unable to find the answer to his question.

"Come and sit down with me, okay? You're having a panic attack Nora, it's alright." And he slowly guided her to one of the seats in the classroom, making sure she knew what was going on.

Once seated, he knelt down in front of her and place his hands comfortingly on her knee and she looked at him desperately. "Relax for me. You're having a panic attack, nothing more, okay? You're okay, Nora, you're okay."

Eleanor listened to Stiles intently, nodding ever so slightly as she repeated his words in her head. I'm having a panic attack, nothing else. I'm okay. I'm okay. It almost amazed her that Stiles knew how to calm her down, however she knew of his experience with panic attacks, heck, even she knew how to stop them. She didn't know why she couldn't stop her own.

"Look, Jaden's here with you. So am I. You're okay, you're with us, you're safe." At that last statement, Jackson scoffed, allowing Stiles to glare at him. "You're doing great, you're doing great Nora. Just keep breathing in and out slowly. Just like that, okay."

He motioned for Jaden to take his place as her panic attack came to a close, and as he did so, he stood back up and walked over to where Scott was standing. Ready to argue with him about how stupid he had been by saying that Derek was the killer. However, he was stopped by the seemingly pissed off Jackson Whittmore.

"Call the cops." He demanded, eyeing the twins as he spoke.

"No." Stiles immediately rejected the idea.

"What do you mean 'no'?"

"I mean 'no'. D'you wanna hear it in Spanish? No. Look, if 'Derek' supposedly killed three people, we don't know what he's armed with." Truth was, Stiles knew that nothing was stopping the beast hunting them, and he didn't want his dad getting hurt.

"Your dad is armed with an entire sheriff's department. Call him."

Stiles opened his mouth to protest, but Lydia already had other plans. "I'm calling."

"No, Lydia would you just hold on a sec-" Before he could even finish his plead, Jackson shoved him backwards, sending him stumbling backwards.

Eleanor, just recovered from her panic attack, stood up, stepping forward to comfort her best friend and glare at Jackson as Scott interfered. "Hey!"

"Yes, we're at Beacon Hills high school. We're trapped and we need your help - but-" Lydia stopped, pulling the phone away from her ear as she stared at it in shock. "She hung up on me."

"The police hung up on you?"

"She said they got a tip warning, saying that there was going to be prank calls about a break in at the high school. She said that if I called again, they're gonna trace it and arrest me."

Allison stared at her dumbfounded. "Okay, then call again."

Jaden shook his head, intervening although still a suspect. "No, they won't trace a cell and they'll send a car to your house before they send anyone here."

Allison grimaced at the boy, moving toward the twins threateningly. "What the - what - what is this? Why the hell does Derek want to kill us? Why is he killing anyone?"

"Why is everyone looking at us?"

"You two, more than anyone, would know. Is he the one that sent her that text? Huh?" Lydia questioned, also stepping forward.

"No." Eleanor confirmed almost immediately.

Scott shook his head. "She means, we, we don't know."

"Is he the one that called the police?"

"I don't know." Scott shouted defensively, allowing both girls to retreat to where they were standing before, not used to his sudden outburst.

Stiles stepped forward, holding on to his friends arm as he pulled him away from the trio, into the corner of the classroom. "Let's ease up on the throttle here, okay?"

The twins watched from afar as the two conversed about a plan. Neither knew how to handle the situation. Truth be told, none of them did. But Eleanor knew that it certainly wasn't like this, throwing them under the bus like that was the worst thing to ever be thought of, and Scott was acting as if he shouldn't be bothered by anything other than Allison. They just needed to get out of the school, and find a very much alive Derek.

As Scott and Stiles whispered about a plan to leave the school, Jackson and the girls had also gone over a plan. This one, already not going to work due to their lack of knowledge of the situation.

"Okay, assheads - new plan. Stiles calls his useless dad and tells him to send someone with a gun and decent aim. Are we good with that?"

The word 'useless' and 'stiles's father' did not sit together well in the sentence and caused a low and inaudible growl to slip out of Eleanor's lips. She most certainly was not good with that.

"He's right." Scott admitted, much to the twins' and Stiles' dismay. "Tell him the truth if you have to. Just call him."

Stiles reached into his pocket, fed up and tired. Much to his surprise, the mobile phone previously planted inside his pocket was nowhere to be found. His pocket was completely empty. "I - I can't find my phone. I don't have it."

All eyes then fell onto Eleanor, and she stepped back slightly as she looked around nervously at her peers. "Why are you looking at me?"

"Oh c'mon Eleanor. If Stilinski doesn't have his phone, you're the best option for this plan to work. We all know that the Sheriff would pick up if you called, so do it." Jackson snarled, stepping forward slowly, almost tauntingly. "That is if you're not working for your psychotic brother."

Eleanor shook her head, her eyes trained on Stiles as she spoke. "I'm not leading your dad into a death trap."

Jackson spitefully rolled his eyes, stalking toward the fragile minded girl, his hands outstretched and tense as he neared her. "Alright, that's it. Give me the damn phone."

And with that, he grabbed Eleanor by her wrists, forcefully jerking her about as his hands searched her body for the phone. Eleanor felt exhausted, as if she could do nothing but let this near assault happen. Jaden, Stiles and Scott had different plans. With one swift motion, Stiles' hand collided with Jackson's jaw, Scott had gently pulled Eleanor away and Jaden was standing over a now cowering lacrosse player and holding Stiles back from doing any more damage.

Immediately, Allison was at Jacksons side, questioning if he was okay and sending Stiles glares as if what happened before to Eleanor did not matter. As Scott kept his hands on her shoulders, both Jaden and Stiles turned to face their best friend, eyes soft and gentle as they neared her.

"Eleanor, are you okay? Do - do you need anything?" Jaden questioned soothingly, his eyebrows raised as she stared ahead at her friends calmly.

Instead of crying her eyes out and making a scene, Eleanor let out a long breath and wiped beneath her eyes furiously, shaking her head as she gave a small smile. "No, no it's okay. I'm fine."

Stiles rested a hand upon her forearm gently and nodded reassuringly at his best friend, his eyes light and approving. "Nora, call him."

With one final nod, Eleanor hesitantly pulled the phone from her back pocket, dialling the number of Noah that she knew all too well. Not long after she'd put the screen to her ear, listening to the dull ring, the door began to rattle, and a low growl was heard from outside the classroom, startling the seven teenagers. It seemed they didn't have much time.

It seemed that the sheriff was busy as Eleanor got redirected to his voicemail, while the six teenagers beside her tried to figure out what to do next. "Sheriff, it's me, Nora. I - Stiles and I and everyone - we need your help. We're at the school, please call us back." Another loud bang was heard and Eleanor could hear her friends talking loudly over one another. "We really need you. We're at the school, we - we're at the school!"

And with that, she ended the call, seconds before Jaden grabbed her wrist and whisked her up the stairs, following the group.

"Jackson," Scott breathed, panting from their run from the Alpha, "How many people can fit in your car?"

"Five." He stated purposefully, eyeing the twins not so discreetly as Stiles scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Whatever, it doesn't matter. There's no way of getting out of here without drawing attention."

"Well," Scott pondered, his eyes moving over the classroom and coming to a stop as he saw a black bolted door, "What about this? This will lead to the roof, and we can go down the fire escape to the parking lot."

"That's a deadbolt." Stiles stated, already knowing that it wouldn't work and the Alpha would most likely kill all seven of them before they could reach their cars.

"The janitor has a key." Eleanor murmured, her eyes cast downwards at the floor as she scratched the back of her neck awkwardly.

"You mean, his body has it."

Eleanor had decided that she wouldn't be hearing Jackson's snide comments anymore, and looked up, eyeing the group carefully as she spoke. "I'll get it, seeing as you guys are somehow against me at the moment. I'll find him, and I'll get the key."

Everything was silent for a second, no one made a sound. Jaden stared at the back of his sister's head as if she had completely lost her mind, Scott furrowed his eyebrows, Jackson smirked and Allison and Lydia had unreadable expressions upon their faces. Stiles was the first to state that he did not agree with Eleanor's conclusion. "Well gee, that sounds like a completely terrible idea. What else you got?"

Eleanor sighed. "I'm getting the key."

"Are you serious?" Jaden and Scott stepped forward, moving closer to her as she rolled her eyes, nodding.

"It's the best plan. Someone has to get the key if we want to get out of here."

"Well," Allison snapped, trying not to sound so bothered by the idea, "You can't go out their unarmed."

"She won't have to." Lydia spoke up, stepping toward the glass cabinet Mr. Harris had in his classroom, looking over the chemicals that were kept inside.

"What are we gonna do? Throw acid on him?" Jaden questioned incredulously, running a frustrated hand through his hair.

Eleanor almost laughed, although it came out more as a scoff than anything else. "My brother isn't out there. And if he is, then he wouldn't hurt me; and I won't hurt him."

"I don't care." Lydia snapped, her voice strained as if she knew that what Scott had said was a lie. "I don't care what is out there. In there is everything you need to make a self - igniting Molotov cocktail."

"We don't have a key for that either." Eleanor pointed out, her arms crossed against her chest.

Lydia simply looked over to Jackson, whom was already making a fist next to the glass cabinet. His hand came into contact with the fragile material seconds later, and the teenagers flinched at the loud sound the glass made as it shattered and fell to the floor.

Slowly, Lydia etched her way closer to the cabinet and carefully picked up each bottle she needed to make the 'Molotov Cocktail' she had spoken of, making sure that she was not close enough to cut herself on the shards below her dainty fingers. She laid them onto Harris' desk and began her work, mixing the different substances with the help of Jackson.

However, as kind gestured as Jackson's help seemed, there was motive behind his actions. As Lydia asked for the sulphuric acid, the last ingredient to her Molotov Cocktail, Jackson realised how easy it would be to give her the wrong glass and let everything go back to normal. Back to how it was before Scott took his popularity and attention.

If he gave the wrong glass, the acid bomb wouldn't work, and whoever was out there, Derek or not, was capable of killing the youngest Hale. If Eleanor died, everything would slip back into place. Scott wouldn't focus on lacrosse, instead drawn to the overwhelming feeling of loneliness and guilt; with any luck Stiles would most likely stay at home for weeks on end, out of his way, and Jaden would disappear completely. Although Jackson and Jaden had a mutual friendship, he could risk it to go back to the normal routine. Everything would go Jackson's way. The wrong way.

And so, Jackson handed her a substance that most definitely was not sulphuric acid slyly, watching as she poured it into the beaker and swirled it around delicately, careful not to spark a reaction.

After a few seconds, Lydia handed the beaker to Eleanor, lingering slightly as they made eye contact. Eleanor thanked her quietly, although not sure what she was actually thanking her for, and turned to the three boys whom were watching intently.

"There has to be another way." Scott spoke, mostly to himself, with guilt watering in his eyes.

Eleanor attempted a smile and shrugged her shoulders, aware that their three other peers were watching. "It's fine. Besides, if it's my brother, then it won't be a problem."

Stiles sighed. "Nora, this is gonna be dangerous. You - you can't go out there alone. Something could happen, you could - you might - you might get hurt or-"

"Stiles," Eleanor started, resting a hand atop of his, that had inched closer to her as he spoke, "I'll be fine, okay? Don't worry about me, I'll be back soon."

She then turned to Jaden, deliberately cutting off whatever he wanted to say as she tried to smile happily ahead at him. "I'm going to go out there, I'm going to find whatever the fuck that thing is, and I'm going to find Derek. I love you and I'm proud of you."

Without so much as another word, Eleanor turned on her heel and stalked to the door, opening it quietly as she turned to look at the teenagers one last time. "Lock it behind me, and for the love of god, make sure it stays locked."

And then they were left alone, to ponder each of their feelings, thoughts and doings. Jackson, thinking about how hopefully after this everything would go back to normal. Lydia, her mind frazzled by the possibility that something more monstrous and harmful than Derek Hale could be about to butcher Eleanor. Allison, conflicted on who to believe and what to think about someone she once called her friend, and also someone she calls her boyfriend. Scott, nothing but guilt and worry flowing through his horrified and crowded mind, for his best friend whom he wasn't sure he would even see again. Stiles, sat to the side and out of the way, scared for everyone's lives. His dad's, his friends, Eleanor. He hoped to god that he would see her again.

Jaden, Jaden was scared to even consider the thought that he may loose the entirety of his family. His brother and his twin sister, both in one night. He wouldn't and couldn't comprehend it, and therefore took his time wrapping his head around what had just happened. Eleanor was Jaden's other half, his best friend, his sister, his wingman, his everything. He couldn't quite imagine her being gone.
