[ start of night school part two ]
in the doorway of the boys locker room a few seconds after beginning their sprint, pushing open the door desperately, immediately closing the door behind them.
Eleanor pushed her long, cascading hair to the side and caught her breath, looking up to find her brother and best friend staring at Stiles with intent, demanding eyes. "Call your dad."
Stiles grimaced. "And tell him what?"
"I don't know, anything." Scott pleaded. "Fire, gas leak, whatever. If that thing sees the parking lot filled with cop cars, it'll take off."
Eleanor disagreed with Scott's logic, shaking her head as she stared at the lockers surrounding the group, "I wouldn't be too sure. He could kill every cop in his sight, and it'll take a lot to slow it down; Derek had to be shot with a wolfsbane bullet to even slow him down."
"Well, then we have to - have to find a way out and run for it."
Jaden cocked his eyebrows upward, motioning to the walls surrounding him. "There's nothing near this shit hole for at least a mile. I don't think you'll be able to last that long yet, let alone Stiles."
Jaden made a good point, and for a few short minutes, it seemed there was no way out of their predicament. The four slumped against the benches lining the lockers, their heads rested in their shaking hands as they thought over how they would survive something like this. Sure, they had Jaden and Eleanor, experienced and trained werewolves; however, they'd never been in this situation before. They didn't know what to do, they felt helpless. They'd never defended themselves in front of a psycho Alpha before.
Eleanor's mind reeled with endless possibilities about how tonight would end for the four friends. It played Derek's near death on a repetitive loop, and she had to screw her eyes shut to try and block out the aching in her chest; she didn't want Derek to die. She wanted them all to come out of this school alive, she wanted them to survive. And that's what they were going to do. All of them, including Derek.
Her eyes lingered on the floor at the thought of her older brother, but she sprung upright and onto her feet at the thought of Deaton in the car. The car.
"What about Derek's car?" She suggested as the four boys looked up, their eyes filled with tiredness and despair.
"That could work." Stiles encouraged, rising to his feet to agree with the brown, hopeful eyed girl. "We go outside, we get the keys off his body and we take his car."
"And him." She reminded, her hands crossed expectantly.
He nodded instantly, not wanting to upset the emotional girl. For a second, it seemed that everything would be okay, and that they would all leave with a steady, beating heart. All they had to do was get to Derek, and everything would be okay. That was until a rustle sounded from near the doorway, very close; causing the three werewolves to freeze.
"What?"
"I think I heard something." The three whispered in unison, staring at one another in urgency.
"Like what?"
"Quiet!" Jaden snapped, stepping closer to the door to listen in further detail. More movement was heard from all three supernatural creatures and as instinctively and quietly as Jaden could, he urged them to hide.
Immediately, seeing Stiles stumble and stutter to find a place to hide, Eleanor grabbed a hold of his hand and pulled him into one of the gym lockers, pressed against him as she closed it and held her breath. With his hot breath against her and his body pressed upon hers, it was hard for Eleanor not to get flustered. She was extremely lucky there in darkness, for she knew that her cheeks had turned a rosy red colour, and her heart was beating out of her chest. That boy did things to her.

Unbeknown to her, Stiles also felt extremely hot and bothered by their close contact and intimate position. And to subside the feeling, hopefully, he placed a reassuring and soft kiss to Eleanor's forehead. He seemed to be trying very hard not to like it too much, for it would make for an awkward rest of the night and an uncomfortable tightness in his trousers. It was almost as if they had both forgotten about the intruder that had entered the locker room. Almost.
The sound of a locker opening caused Stiles and Eleanor to face one another, less than centimetres apart, their eyes wide with alarm until hearing the voice of the janitor. "Son of a bitch!"
Jaden, Eleanor and Stiles took that as their cue to release themselves from their lockers, much to Eleanor and Stiles' low-key dismay. Stiles immediately stepped forward as he saw the janitor, annoyance written across his forehead.
"Quiet!"
The older, less impatient man scoffed. "Quiet my ass! What the hell are you all trying to do, kill me? Get out of here!"
"Will you just listen to us for half a second?" Eleanor begged, also stepping forward to try and persuade the janitor for his time. However, he refused the thought of staying with the delinquent teenagers for a second more.
"Not okay. Get the hell out of here, right now."
Scott huffed, obviously not happy with the answer they were given. "God, just one second to explain?"
"Just shut up a go-" However the demand was cut short by none other than the very Alpha they had been running from throughout the night, reaching to grab the poor man and pull him to his death.
Of course, this startled the four to no end. Eleanor and Jaden had seen enough deaths to last a lifetime, however this was something neither Scott or Stiles had ever witnessed before, and so they stood in complete shock, frozen to the ground. It seemed so surreal. Though, this was not appropriate, for it was only a matter of time before they were next.
"Go! Go!" Eleanor shrieked, pushing Jaden to grab both Scott and Stiles, pulling them with him as he made a run for the door, Eleanor hot on his heels.
The exit seemed the only plausible option, and so the four ran as fast as their legs could carry them to the giant double doors. And as soon as a possibility to the end to this terror filled night arose, it plummeted into the ground by the blocking of the doors. They would not open.
Stiles felt physically sick. He also felt like he couldn't breathe. He pushed past the three friends immediately, hitting and kicking the door as every second passed, trying and failing miserably at an escape. He felt trapped.
Eleanor frowned, feeling extremely bad for her best friend. He should have never been involved in this life, he didn't deserve it. She stepped forward, resting her hand upon his tense arm softly. "Ti, stop."
"I'm not dying here." Stiles heaved, his eyes wide and his mouth gaping, his heart beating wildly. "I'm not dying at school."
Eleanor smiled reassuringly, pulling him away from the door gently, closer to her for comfort. "We're not going to die. We'll get out of here, okay?"
The hard, sharp look of horror that previously filled Stiles' eyes had been drowned out, softened by her words as he slowly began to nod, convincing himself of her words.
Jaden ran a hand through his unruly curls, turning to where they had just ran from, trying to fathom what was going on. "God, what does he want? What is he doing?"

"He wants Scott. And maybe us. It's stronger when it has a pack."
"Oh great!" Stiles praised sarcastically, tapping his fingers against his thighs nervously. "A psychotic murdering werewolf who's into teamwork. Beautiful."
"Well," Jaden concluded, "We have to do something."
"Like what?" Eleanor hissed, her eyes wide with alarm as Jaden began walking back the way they had came. Was he calling for a death wish?
"I don't know. Kill it, hurt it, inflict mental anguish on it. Something."
The faint sound of chewing flesh had become louder as the three followed Eleanor's brother, and she leant forward to grab his wrist, stopping him from walking any further. "What the hell are you doing?"
"The desk." He whispered, motioning to the spare desk in front of the door. "C'mon, the desk!"
Eleanor turned back to face Scott and Stiles, whom both deemed it a plausible option to capture the Alpha in Coach's office, where he was feasting on the remains of the janitor they had encountered moments before. And so the four moved with haste, grabbing hold of each corner of the desk, picking it up and positioning it in front of the door, blocking the creature in.
The beastly monster soon realised their intentions, and let the skeleton of the elder man fall limp on the floor as he barged to the door, heaving and growling in anger as he realised he was trapped. Their plan had worked.
The four leant against the opposite wall, relieved that their actions finally had successfully trapped it, but they needed to go. They needed to leave before the Alpha got out, which is why Eleanor grimaced as Scott inched further to the office. "What are you doing?"
"What?" He shrugged innocently, narrowing his eyes to focus on the monstrous animal. "I just want to get a look at it."
"Scott I don't think that's a-" But before she could even finish her suggestion, the four watched, horrified as the Alpha tore into the ceiling panels, yet again finding a way to terrorise the teenagers, "good idea."
They turned on their heel and ran, until Stiles breathing corrupted into gasps for air, desperate for oxygen. They stopped in their History classroom for breather, hiding behind the teacher's desk in hope that the Alpha would not be able to see them. All four clung to each other, linking hands and trying to steady their rising heartbeat.
Eleanor leant her cheek onto Jaden's shoulder, wrapping Stiles' flannel tighter to her body with one hand as she held his in another. She tried to swallow the angst and fear she felt for their lives, but it would not wash away, and the more she thought about it, the more she realised that they wouldn't be getting out of this alive. Not likely.
Jaden sighed, hanging his head upon Eleanor's, gripping her knee with his hand for comfort as she visibly shook, something she did often when she felt scared. Everything seemed silent, it seemed they were safe. Of course, they knew this was far from the truth, and so they refused to move, suffocating each other with their close proximity and endless dread of the known.
A shrill, familiar ring played through Eleanor's ears, and she immediately sat up straight, although she merely thought she was hearing things. Her grip on Stiles hand got tighter, and for a moment, silence enveloped them again.
"Did you hear that?" She questioned, not entirely sure if what she heard was real, or if her mind was playing tricks on her.
Before anyone could reply, the ring sounded again, this time on a repetitive loop that Eleanor would be able to recognise anywhere. "I know that ring. It's Allison's phone."
Scott's eyes widened in immediate fear, and Eleanor stumbled to pull her phone from her back pocket, worried beyond belief for her friend and her safety. She was already trying to look after the three boys, failing quite miserably, and she didn't want innocent Allison to be pulled into the situation too.
She found Allison's number in her contact list instantly, pressing the cold screen of the phone to her ear as she squeezed Stiles hand. The boys stared at her, awaiting Allison to pick up the phone.
"Eleanor?"
Eleanor sighed in relief, leaning back against the wall. "Oh, thank god. Where are you?"
"I'm in the school, looking for Scott. Do you know why he isn't at my place?"
"Where are you exactly? Where are you right now?" Eleanor dismissed her question, instead intent on finding the Argent before she ran into danger. Literally.
"The swimming pools, why?"
"Get to the lobby," Eleanor ushered, standing up from her position next to the three boys. "Go now."
With that, she hung up the phone and pushed it deep into her pocket, turning to Jaden, Scott and Stiles quickly. They all seemed to catch on to the conversation between the two girls and nodded, as if Eleanor had said something, and stood up too. Stiles momentarily stared at his best friend, his eyes filled with hope. Hopefully, they could get to Allison before it was too late.
With no time to spare, the four took off through the halls quietly, trying not to make any sort of sound that would signal their location to the Alpha. They needed to get Allison, and get out of here. They picked up their paces and burst through the doors to the lobby, relieved to see Allison before them.
Scott immediately pushed past his three friends, running to Allison's side, his hands instinctively holding her arms. "What are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here? What are you doing here? You were the one that sent me a message to meet you here." At the mention of this supposed message from Scott, the twins and Stiles shared a look of slight confusion and mass worry. Scott didn't have his phone.
"What text?" The newly bitten questioned, just as confused as his friends.
Allison rolled her eyes and pulled her phone from her back pocket, unlocking it as she showed the four her messages to and from Scott, the last one reading 'Meet me at the school ASAP.'. Scott sped over the text with his eyes, widening them with shock, knowing that it wasn't him who sent the text.
The look the four friends gave Allison caused her to catch on to the problem at hand. "You didn't send this text, did you?"
The three behind Scott, as if they were answering for him, shook their heads in unison as the McCall boy peered around, his mind full of worry for all of his friends and his desperate need to protect them. They needed to leave, now.
"How did you get here?"
"Jackson." Allison stated simply, looking over to the exit as Eleanor inwardly groaned.
Scott cocked his head forward, alarmed by the information as he too turned to peer out of the door. "Jackson's here?"
Allison nodded. "Yeah, with Lydia."
Eleanor stepped forward, feeling an increasing worry knowing that all of her friends were in a building containing a psycho werewolf, most likely ready to turn them into a three course meal at any given minute. She could also feel Scott's worry, Jaden's panic and Stiles' terror as well as her own, her heightened senses making her own emotions even worse than before. She couldn't loose them all.
Before her mind could get the best of her, an annoyed Jackson and a snappy Lydia burst through another door and into the lobby, also completely relieved to find Allison. Though, they did not look impressed with the group of four best friends; with the exception of Lydia smiling at Eleanor warmly, and Jackson who acknowledged Jaden. Allison attempted a smile as she saw the two whom had traveled with her to the school, and turned to Scott expectantly.
"We need to go, like, right now." He stressed, turning to give a pointed stare to all six of the individuals surrounding him.
Jackson scowled, Lydia rolled her eyes, Allison furrowed her eyebrows and the three others, already knowing the dangerous situation upon them, nodded instantly and quickly, stepping forward.
They hadn't moved more than two steps when the crashing from above sounded, and the group froze. Allison instinctively gripped on to Scott's hand, looking around in wonder as she questioned the noise. "What the hell was that?"
Eleanor watched the bouncing of the Alpha from above, assessing how long they had until he would catch up with them. The answer: not long enough. And so she grabbed Stiles' hand in one, and Lydia's in another, and took off in the opposite direction of the exit, listening to Scott as he yelled for everyone to run. They tore through the halls as fast as their legs would carry them, stopping as Jackson dove into a classroom, pulling everybody else with him.
Once they had shut the door, Allison, Scott, Jaden, Jackson and Lydia began stacking the chairs in front of the door, desperate to separate themselves and the Alpha with anything they could move. Stiles and Eleanor however, took a more intelligent approach and studied the room, taking into account the giant windows across the walls.
Immediately, they knew that the room they had chosen to take refugee in wasn't suitable, and tried desperately to bring this to the attention of the others. "Guys? Wait. Guys!"
"Hello? Scott? Jaden?" Stiles stammered, beginning to get frustrated with the lack of attention he received.
"Stop bloody moving!" Eleanor shrieked loudly, fed up that nobody would even acknowledge the pair; however this caught their attention, and they soon stopped to look at Stiles and Eleanor in confusion.
"Thanks, Nora. Great, beautiful job everyone. Really. Now what do we do about the twenty foot wall of windows?" He asked sarcastically, gesturing to the glass behind him as their eyes collectively widened in shock.
Allison stepped forward, grabbing a hold of Scott shoulders as she frantically tried to find the answer to her question. "Can someone please explain to me what's going on, because I'm freaking out here! Scott?"
Scott stared ahead dumbfounded, and so Stiles spoke up to answer for him, improvising with what little information they could give them. "The janitor is dead."
"What?" The three questioned incredulously.
"Yeah," Jaden confirmed. "Somebody killed the janitor."
Allison shook her head and once again turned to Scott, wide eyed and shaking. "What are they talking about? Is this a joke?"
"What, who killed him?"
"No, no no no no. This was supposed to be over." Lydia almost pleaded, her eyes fixated on Eleanor as she spoke, her voice desperate. "The mountain lion killed-"
"No!" Jackson demanded, his voice deep and slightly terrifying, making all three girls jump backwards slightly. "Don't you get it? There wasn't a mountain lion."
Eleanor stepped forward, her pent up anger for Jackson Whittemore become so profusely obviously that she could stay quieter any longer. "Listen here, jackass. You have no right to speak to Lydia like that, get a grip-"
But before she could finish her rant, Allison had turned back to Scott, not at all bothered by the argument occurring. "Who was it? What does he want? What's happening? Scott!"
With her anger still held up inside her, Eleanor's frustration for Jackson began to spread to Allison too, her frequent and rushed questions becoming more annoying and unnecessary as each second passed.
"I - I don't know." Innocent Scott stuttered, his heart beating wildly in his chest as he lied to protect the ones he loved. "I - I just - If we go out there, he's going to kill us."

Note: The graphic isn't mine; it is a re-imagining of a few separate images, any objections by original artists let me know. N.B. If you are looking for Sexual Content every chapter, or every second, third or fourth chapter this isn't the story for you - the Sexual Content is required for a plot device, not a way of life and the later chapters reflect that - please stop dropping Low Ratings when you feel I haven't met your idea of "fan service". This is finished as much as a multi book vision can be finished. At 750,000 words give or take and very little readership I can only blame myself. I have learnt a lot, possibly forgotten a lot as well! I will probably return to the Chapters at some point - a touch up here and a touch up there. The second book though will probably remain in my head for a very long time, so yes "cliffs" although I hope the characters and their motivations are developed enough that you can have a good guess at the content of Book Two and tell me so I can confirm or deny! This isn't a LITRPG where classes are developed, great foes are defeated by a hero of immense power. This is a story based within (I hope) a very real and consistent culture, that leaves breadcrumbs for the reader to work out what the heck is happening and why. This is a slow burn story as the MC is stumbling around discovering her new place and role. Author's Note (Apr 2021): I dropped the Fantasy Genre for the Mystery Genre, because while the setting mentions magic, is it about past glories and trying to return to them. Whereas the MC from Chapter One doesn't understand her predicament and the range of mysteries she must solve to survive. If I have this wrong PM me and I will change this back.
