《My Mate the Wanderer》15. Fact or Fiction!

My stomach growled in anticipation for the pizza that was baking in the oven.
I don't know if I have ever felt this hungry in my whole life.
"Witches?" I asked as we continued to talk about what creatures are real and which are fake.
"Real, and very full of themselves." Tyler responded.
"Mermaids?"
"Real."
"Fairies?"
"Fake."
"Demons and angles?"
He chuckled at my cluelessness. "Fake."
"What about shapeshifter or ghosts?" I said with my chin in my hand.
"Shapeshifter are real and and ghosts are also but very rare."
"Hmm." I sighed out. "So what about all of those people who say they communicate with spirits?"
"The real ones normally have some form of witch blood in them which allows them to pick up on traces or magic but ever once in a while it is actually a spirit." He said as he pulled the pizza out of the oven.
"Mmm." I moaned out as the smell of the pizza wafted up to my nose.
"Why do supernaturals keep themselves hidden from humans?" I said as I grabbed a piece of pizza from the pan.
"A long time ago we tried to integrate ourselves into human society but it epically failed. Humans hunted us down in fear of our abilities, so now most stay in the shadows."
"That stinks." I sighed out as I took a bite of the steaming hot pizza.
"You mentioned something earlier about packs. Why aren't you part of one?" I asked innocently.
Tyler stopped mid bite and look at me deep in my eyes. "Hybrids are an anomaly. We're not supposed to be able to exist. There is no way any normal pack would allow me into its ranks. Especially since I would be considerably more powerful then their alpha. Which is a big thing since alphas are suppose to be the strongest in the pack." He said with an underlining tone of sadness in his voice.

I couldn't think of any words to say to Tyler. He must have had a very lonely life if he wasn't welcome in either the supernatural world or the human one.
"Were you lonely?" I asked Tyler but feared the response that he was going to give.
"I was for a long time, but I made some friends in my years. People who are all willing to overlook the life that I was born into and actually see the person beneath." He said as a sad smile came across his face.
I looked back down at my pizza as my heart clenched for my mate.
That long on your own would probably be difficult.
"Speaking of which my friend Mason was planning on visiting in about a week. Would you per chance be interested in meeting him?"
I could see the enthusiasm on Tyler's face and I got the feeling that it was important that I met his friend, so I nodded to him and plastered on my best million dollar smile.
After we finished our pizza and our bellies were full I felt a wave of drowsiness come over me.
I yawned and once Tyler got a good look at me he scooped me up into his arms and marched me into the room I was going to be sleeping in.
As he opened the door I was hit with a wall of sweet and crisp water scent.
I knew that this had to be his room.
"You can sleep in here my little mate." His wolf said in a sultry voice.
He set me down on the edge of his bed and kissed the top of my head.
"I'll be in the living room if you need anything." Tyler said as he walked out of the room.

My wolf whined as he walked out of the room.
I looked around his room and saw that it was probably the most modern room of the house.
A flat screen tv hung above a dresser on the far side of the room and a king size bed was against the wall opposite of it.
I felt bad for taking his bed but I was to tired to try and convince him to switch with me.
That could be a conversation for tomorrow, but for now I just wanted to drift off into a peaceful slumber.
I stripped of my clothes and changed into a pair of my pajamas.
I could feel all of the muscles in my body beginning to ache from the activity of today.
As I lay down I felt a wave of comfort wash over me as the scent of my mate invaded my nose.
I curled my self up under his blanket as I let sleep quickly overcome me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My dreams were invaded by the smell of burning flesh and the snapping of bones.
I let myself look around and saw a small village being turned into cinders.
I watched as several wolves tore into the flesh of a young boy in olden day clothes as he let out deafening wails of pain.
I felt something pulling my eyes up to the sky.
I was hypnotized by the sight of the white glowing moon.
Suddenly a pain shot through my arm and I heard a snap.
I felt another snap in my ankle and back.
The pain was unbearable but my body felt like it hummed with energy.
A howl left my lips as i was jerked awake from my dream.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I shot upright in bed and let a sob shake me to my core.
"Aubree, are you alright?" Tyler said as he sat on the edge of my bed holding my shoulders.
"Ya I think so it was just a nightmare. I'm fine, just go back to sleep."
Tyler looked me over and looked unconvinced.
He let out a sigh, and stood up and left the room.
I have never had a dream as vivid as that one.
It felt so real, it was as though I could feel every bone snapping, and taste the burning flesh that hung in the air.
I laid there and tried to forget about what just happened.
The memory of the dream was already starting to fade.
I have never had a dream as vivid as that one.
I took a calming breath and stared at the ceiling trying to will myself back into peacefulness.
Before long my body pulled me back to a dreamless sleep.
