《✔️Ambrosia (Edward Cullen) BOOK ONE》2 - "Blue Bug"

Ambrosia had no motivation to get out of bed that morning, to leave the warm comforts of her room and join the population of Forks High school for the first day of the new term. However, that was not the reason that she and her foster siblings were late on the first day back. Half an hour until they were set to leave the large house, she was waiting in the kitchen, watching the younger children eat their breakfast messily. She calmly poured a glass of orange juice for Jaxson, the youngest family member, he was only six, about the same age as she had been when she joined them. There were only fifteen of them in total.

There wasn't much need for an orphanage in Forks Washington, there were only five permanent residents- the teenagers- and they would all soon be gone. The children were much more likely to be adopted but Ambrosia didn't mind this dynamic, they all deserved safe and happy homes and she was used to this setup. Miss Everett didn't much mind what they did, as long as it wasn't dangerous or illegal.

When Teddy and Pheobe were finally ready to go, after much bickering on the third-floor hallway, monitored by a nervous Max. They had ten minutes to complete a fifteen-minute drive. Clambering hastily into her blue VW Beetle- or the Blue bug as they called it- beside Max, she was pushing the speed limit within moments, her anxiety spiking at the thought of entering her lesson even a minute late. The idea that she may have to walk in when they were all already seated was terrifying to her.

"Chill it Rosia, we have time" her foster brother calmed, flicking through the novel that she had been reading, every other line was highlighted with her pale violet coloured highlighter, notes scrawled in the margins. This was of course not her official copy, this was the English Lit novel that she was preparing to write an essay on. "At this rate, we'll end up in a ditch, therefore, we will be much much later for school"

"I know" she sighed, her knuckles turning white as she clutched the steering wheel, praying that this wouldn't be the day that her precious bug died on her. This car was one of the only things she had of her parents and she was in no way prepared to lose it now.

"You don't need to panic A, we have Trigonometry together first and I'll make sure that nothing bad happens, alright?" he smiled and although her nerves continued to bubble, she felt slightly calmer, her hands loosening on the wheel. Ultimately, they arrived in the nick of time, parking swiftly and practically flying down the empty corridors, hand in hand for increased speed. Despite the horror passing through her, Ambrosia oddly felt adrenaline rush through her.

The door was still open when they reached it, Ambrosia giggling despite herself as she took in their flustered expressions. They composed themselves and sped walked through the door. In the heat of the moment, Ambrosia completely forgot her worries until she noticed that everyone was already there, except the teacher. Luckily for her, in that particular classroom, the door they entered through was at the back of the room. Despite this, she still looked down as her cheeks blushed violently.

In the next moment, Ambrosia decided that it most definitely was not her day. She slammed into what she supposed must have been the wall, bouncing off, she crashed to the floor, dropping all the books in her hand. Now in near tears, the girl scrambled to compose herself, scraping her hands across the tiled floor to collect the discarded pages that had fallen there. Only when a white hand flashed out of nowhere, did she jump remembering why she was on the floor in the first place. Looking up, her eyes clashed with beautiful topaz coloured orbs that looked at her with guilt. She knew it had been her own fault, she'd crashed into the back of him, but she couldn't bring herself to speak, the lump in her throat, clogging her voice.

"Thanks" she stuttered "Sorry" her voice was low and shaky, sounding absolutely terrified and his eyebrows crinkled as he grabbed her elbow to pull her safely to her feet. Edward Cullen towered over her in all his glory and she couldn't help her awkwardness as her green eyes dropped to inspect his shiny black shoes. In his year at the school, she had not interacted with him even once but she knew his name, everyone did.

"Excuse me Miss Hatton, Mr Cullen, am I interrupting you?" the stern teacher coughed from the front and the girl whipped around to find the entire class staring openly at them, the teacher at his desk waiting to begin. Blushing darker than she ever had before and wanting to just curl up into a ball and cry, Ambrosia dropped into the first available seat she could find on the back row. Edward had no choice but to occupy the one beside her.

"Sorry sir, please continue" Edward stated in his always respecting tone, his voice sounding like smooth velvet as he whipped out a sheet of paper from his notebook. Ambrosia was in a state of complete shock, staring with wide eyes out the window, lips parted slightly. Edwards gaze flickered down to her every few seconds in concern, worried that smacking into him had caused her some sort of injury.

Edward Cullen knew Ambrosia Hatton, he knew that she was shy and sweet and he also knew that her mind was silent. Her mind was the most calming mind he had ever heard, no words could be understood but there was a relaxing essence to it that calmed him, almost allowing him to feel how Jaspers gift made him feel. However, it was for this reason that he had avoided her for an entire year, they couldn't be sure of her, if she knew more than she let on, or even suspected them. She was their only concern and he couldn't allow his family to come to harm due to his stupid fascination with a silent girl. After ten minutes of only silence from his desk partner, he decided to check that she was well despite their crash.

Edward Slid a note carefully toward her, making sure that nobody saw him doing it. He wasn't entirely sure what he was doing, or if it was the right thing to do but he couldn't help himself, watching the panic on her face that remained even now, fifteen minutes into the lesson. Ambrosia was undeniably beautiful, her cheeks were perhaps slightly too rounded, a cherry red with dimples present even when she wasn't smiling. Her hair fell in big rounded curls, a chocolate colour with golden streaks that glittered slightly. Her bright green eyes glittered despite her fears. She was slender and short but he couldn't help but consider her to be a version of perfection.

Her perfectly manicured lavender coloured nails placed themselves on the slither of notepaper awkwardly, almost as though she wasn't quite sure that it was for her. Pulling it toward her slowly, her green eyes scanned the words with wide eyes before she looked up at him, almost in shock that he would bother to try and speak to her. His body was angled toward her despite himself and although she was still getting over her earlier scare, she felt calm just by the way he was sat watching her. She nodded slowly, doing her best to smile despite her anxiety, her eyes missed his as they exchanged a glance, instead focusing on his cheekbones. She was scared of what emotion she would see reflected back at her if she did look at his golden orbs.

After a seconds pause, in which she weighed up being polite and being her usual shy self, she chose to step outside of her comfort zone for at least once. She quickly added her own reply.

Edward couldn't help but smile as she passed the paper back to him shyly. Her eyes remained cast downward at the table but every so often they flickered up to see his expression, she was waiting to see his response. And so he replied.

"I'm sorry for being in your way" Edward whispered lowly to her and she smiled softly, for once, she felt comfortable talking to another person and although she wouldn't admit it, it completely unnerved her. A moment later, the bell rang and after sparing Ambrosia a glance, Edward vanished into the crowd. The shy girl released a breath she hadn't realised she was holding. Blinking to compose herself, Max appeared in front of her with a smirk on his lips. He handed her a sheet of paper and walked away, whistling.

Ambrosia blinked at the paper, it was a complete set of notes from the lesson, all of which she had been too dazed and embarrassed to make herself. What was happening to her?
