"Listen, Bambi Babe, you've got to start putting yourself out there. Make some new friends" Pheobe patronised as they walked down the corridor, the darker haired girl slung an arm over her younger foster sisters shoulders, 'Bambi' was the name that Pheobe had used for Ambrosia since they were nine, it had originally been due to how clumsily Ambrosia had performed her very first cartwheel and it just stuck.

"I have friends, I have you guys" she replied awkwardly and Pheobe shot her a none-too-pleased side-eye.

"We are not your friends Amby" she frowned and they heard a tsking sound come from beside them, looking over to their right, they spotted the flaming red hair of Rosalind who was watching on with distaste.

"Why are you so rotten Fee?" she inquired, flicking her perfectly straight hair behind her shoulder. "Of course we are friends Rosia" she promised with a sweet smile.

"That's not what I meant Roz, you know that. I just mean, you should expand a bit, you know? You're so shy Ambrosia and other people just deserve to experience your kindness." Pheobe reiterated, not wanting a bollocking later from Teddy when Roz tattled on her to him. Teddy was the only one who could keep her in check, for some uncertain reason. Max and Ambrosia had their suspicions that the two of them were in some secret relationship, they seemed to spend a lot of time behind closed doors. And although they were not in any way related and Pheobe had only joined their orphanage when they were fourteen, they kept whatever was happening a secret, likely after seeing the way people treated the Cullen couples.

"Don't do anything your not comfortable with Amby" Roz scolded, looking at the brunette, despite being born only months apart, the ginger always treated the girl as though she was a baby. It was probably due to her innocent nature and sweet smile, the height she had couldn't help. But Ambrosia found that she didn't mind the dynamic, that was just the way that Rosalind was.

"I've heard about your little spark with Edward Cullen" Pheobe winked, causing an eye roll from the ginger sister. "You should really follow through with that, he's hot" she put her thumbs up and Ambrosia scoffed.

"I'm leaving now" she informed and walked away.

"Go get 'em babe" Pheobe cheered and Ambrosia's cheeks roared a flaming red row of roses, her head ducked as she found solace in the library, away from inquisitive eyes. Quickly finding a seat on her burgundy armchair, pulling a tattered copy of 'The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott Fitzgerald from her bag. Ambrosia only managed to flip through a few pages before, for the first time ever, the midnight blue armchair in front of her was occupied. Without looking up from her book, she depicted a few things. The person was male, that much was certain by the large shadow that had cast upon her as he approached. His legs were covered in modest charcoal grey trousers and on his feet were some very familiar leather shoes. She recognised them only by staring at them in Trig lesson a few days previously. Edward.

Lowering her book, Ambrosia peered up at the copper-haired Cullen who had his own book in hand. She recognised the cover but had never read it before. Resigning to the idea that he was actually there to read and not to bother her, her green eyes turned back to the heavily dog-eared pages of The Great Gatsby. After a few more page turns, the first party scene page fell from the book, the bindings week and landing in her lap. It was only followed by a few more, all falling like leaves around her knees. Sighing, Ambrosia quickly grabbed them and ordered them, sliding them back into place. After having done so, she closed the book firmly and was suddenly aware of golden eyes on him.

"Is that a library book?" he wondered, closing his own book, already having memorised the page number that he was on. He could've finished it by now but didn't wish to alarm her. The fact that they were sat in the fantasy section wasn't lost on him, causing a slight smirk on his lips.

"No, it's mine" she stated, not looking up at him. Miss Everett had told her that it was rude to not meet someone's eyes when they were talking but it worried her, she knew that she would lose her string of thought the second she met his eyes.

"It's a good book" he stated and she looked up at him, a small smile peeling across her lips. She could appreciate that, a person who had a good taste in books.

"It's my favourite" she smiled, her cheeks glowing slightly under the intensity of his gaze, she was not completely oblivious to how gorgeous he was, in fact, she was sure that he found him more attractive than most people.

"Why?" he wasn't being rude, only curious. Edward longed to know everything about the secretive girl, he couldn't read her mind to get the answers so he would have to coax them out of her a different way.

"Because, I can appreciate a good romance" she smiled, tucking some hair behind her ear, showing off the two little star earrings she had in her right ear. Everything about her made him smile, she was like a ray of sunshine but didn't even realise. "I just find it so sad that it should end in tragedy"

"How else could it end?"

"Well with Daisy being with Gatsby of course"

"Do you think they could make it work?" Edward wondered, unconsciously leaning forward slightly, proud that he had managed to get a conversation out of her, most others found it an impossible task.

"Do you believe in destiny?" she wondered, not looking at him now, slightly embarrassed to be asking such a random personal question but Edward smiled, it was a beautiful crooked smile that made her heart lurch slightly.

"Every true romantic does" he informed and she looked up to meet his eyes again, green meeting gold. They were not too different, Ambrosia and Edward.

"Is it too impossible to believe that they were soulmates? Soulmates always find a way to make it work" she stated with a sad smile, her eyes swimming in thought, thoughts that he wished he could read. He wanted to know her, this book-loving, shy, emotion-driven girl with the beautiful heart-shaped face.

"They do indeed"
