《✔️Ambrosia (Edward Cullen) BOOK ONE》1- "Gossip stream"

Ambrosia Hatton played by Haley Lu Richardson.

Ambrosia Emerald Hatton was that one quiet girl, the one that nobody could recall ever having spoken to, but she had been there all along, tucked up behind a book of some sort since kindergarten. Ambrosia was a perplexing character, the words that left her lips only ever directed at her foster siblings. They were the only people who knew her, that cared enough to become close to her.

There was something to be seen from her foster siblings, the orphanage they lived in, under the rule of Miss Everett- a sickly looking old lady- was home to five teenagers in total, Ambrosia being one of them. The others- Rosalind, Teddy, Max and Pheobe went out of their way to protect her, to be there for her no matter what, even if they received incredulous looks for doing so.

There was a saying about shy people, that they said nothing but saw everything and Ambrosia was no different. She didn't care for the gossip stream that flowed through Forks High, but she noticed it. It was hard not to when you did nothing but listen. Voices of others were all that filled the silence of the library on one particularly normal day in the life of Ambrosia Hatton. She considered the day to have gone well for her thus far, after all, she hadn't been called on to answer a question in class and that was considered a win for her, even if she did know the answer perfectly well.

Watching the rain cry down the windowpane, perched comfortably within her customary burgundy coloured armchair in a neat corner of the fantasy section, Ambrosia chose to block out the gossiping words of Jessica Stanley and Lauren Mallory. The only word on anybody's tongues on this particularly uneventful Thursday was Cullen. And Lauren and Jessica were surely the sources of much of the gossip.

Due to her utter lack of interest, all the shy girl knew was that the Cullens were the new kids in school, a group of six-four boys and two girls. Her knowledge stopped there. The Cullens were too popular for Amrbosia's invested interest, she favoured befriending the shyer side of society, the ones that were like her. The silence was where she felt comfortable.

But Jessica and Lauren drew her attention when they began fingering through her treasured book collection, of course- it was not primarily hers- but the books very rarely passed through other's hands. Ambrosia had an agreement with the librarian- Rory Hadley, a young bubbly girl- that Ambrosia would do her bit to keep the library tidy in return for Rory ordering the books that the shy girl wanted to read. It was a relatively relaxed agreement but it still irritated Ambrosia slightly to have her work messed with. Lauren's fishy green eyes flickered over to the shy girl- as if she knew- and Ambrosia looked down instantly. Reinvesting her attention into the raindrops on the window.

But her attention was already focused on them.

"They're all adopted by Doctor and Mrs Cullen" she caught from Jessica's mouth and a newfound respect for the elusive 'Cullens' festered, they were not too far removed from herself, in that they too had lost their parents-or so she assumed, in some way or another. Ambrosia remembered very little of her parents, they were smart, she remembered that. But every parent is the smartest person in the world to a five-year-old girl. It was tragic, what happened to them, it was also talk of the town. Whenever a conversation about Ambrosia Hatton began, it ended in the exact same way. "Her parents are the ones that died, an animal attack apparently, they were hiking, that's why she doesn't go in the woods" and that was the end of Ambrosia's intrigue. Beside her storybook past, she was nothing more than the shy girl in the corner.

Ambrosia rarely cried. All it did for her was make her feel worse. She knew that she had been unfortunate in life, to have loved and to have lost so young. And every day, she missed the bubbly characters of her parents, or what she remembered of them. She longed for the abstract patterns of her mother's cardigans and the scent of tobacco that lingered around her father. All Ambrosia wanted was a walk through the forest in her sparkly orange wellies, her hand slid into theirs as they sang 'Hey Jude' at the top of their lungs. It was her favourite song, even now.

"'Rosia!" she jumped, the slurred version of her name being the last thing she expected to hear in that darkly lit library on this uneventful day. Twisting furiously, her brown hair, streaked with gold flicked around her heart-shaped face. Her apple green eyes settled on the tanned face of her foster brother. Max wiggled his thick black eyebrows at her with a smirk on his lips, watching as her near-hyperventilation settled. "Fancy joining me in the Cafeteria?" he wondered and her eyes narrowed slightly, her shoulders twitching in a shrug. She didn't want to, they both knew that but Max was all about pushing the boundaries of one's comfortability and therefore, he urged her. Ambrosia knew that she needed someone like that, someone to test her. Or else, she'd spend her entire life in the dark library amongst the books.

There was no argument when it came to Max, he would get his way no matter what and Ambrosia was too afraid to argue her point. So she agreed, without a word, sliding her hand into the one that he offered and allowing him to pull her from the comfort of the library.

That was the day that Ambrosia Emerald Hatton first laid eyes on the Cullen family, at the height of their fame at Forks High, her green gaze was swallowed up amongst all the others within the cafeteria and in that moment, as she saw their golden eyes... Ambrosia Hatton vowed to avoid them all. The Cullens were too perfect to join the chaos of her life.
