《It All Started With A Proposal》Chapter Nine: Congratulations

There's going to be some time jumping in here!
5 Months Later
"You're about 2 months along into your pregnancy, congratulations."
I looked at the doctor wide-eyed. I'm pregnant?
"What did you say?"Adam and I looked at each other with both shocked and happy expressions on our faces.
"You're pregnant Ms. Amin." The doctor said as she congratulated the both of us.
"Thank you." Adam smiled at her then turned to me and placed his hand gently on my stomach.
The doctor put a cold liquid on my stomach and showed us how the baby looked on the monitor beside me. "Wow, the baby is so small." I found myself saying as I stared at it. "From what I can tell the baby is around 8 weeks old. Congratulations once again." She then got up from her chair.
"Wow, we're going to be parents In Shaa Allah." Adam stated happily.
"Alhamdulilah," I added.
This was all too much for me to comprehend at this point. This is the reason why I've been feeling sick for the past couple of weeks. I slowly touched my stomach as I small smile graced my lips. I could feel happy tears forming in my eyes. This baby is both Adam and I, and he or she is currently in me right now. Just the thought of being a mother was enough for me to burst into joyful tears.
As I looked up, I could see the tears in Adam's eyes as well.
"Alhamdulilah." He repeated.
"I'll give you both some space." The doctor said as she left the room.
Suddenly I began to feel really emotional, I am going to be a mom. I can't seem to wrap my mind around it. That's when I began to feel the tears trickling down my cheeks more and more. "Are you okay?" Adam asked with worry laced in his tone.
"Yeah, I just can't believe that we're having a baby." I continued to cry. I wish my mother was here for this, to help me through it and give me advice. It's at big life-changing moments like these that I wish that she was here the most. "What if I'm not going to be a good mom?" I asked worriedly. "What if I'm not meant to be one?"
That was my biggest fear, me being a horrible parent and having my child resent me for it. Adam kneeled down in front of me as he grabbed my hands and kissed them. "Listen to me, you are going to be an amazing mom In Shaa Allah. Do you want to know how I know that? Because you are one of the most caring, compassionate, and loving human beings that there is. You'd jump through hoops for the people you love, and you care about others more than you do yourself. Our child is incredibly lucky to have you as a mom and me as their dad cause you know I'm awesome." He joked which made me laugh through my tears. "There it is, that beautiful smile." He said as he planted a kiss on my lips. "We're in this together, okay? Never forget that." He added after he pulled away.

"I love you," I told him as I planted a kiss on his cheek.
"I love you too."
After Adam dropped me off I got my car keys and drove to my father's house to tell them about the news but when I got there Isa was the only one home. Speaking of him, he actually went to Ms. Mitchel a couple of weeks ago and asked for Samiyah's hand in marriage. I still can't believe that in a couple of months Sam and I are going to be sisters-in-law. "Hey bro," I said as I laid down on the couch. This is the first time all day that I am actually relaxing. "What's up?" He replied as he flipped through channels on the tv. "I have exciting news." I couldn't hold it in anymore, I just have to tell someone this. "What is it?" He turned off the tv and looked at me.
A wide smile made its way across my face as I got ready to tell him. "I'm pregnant."
"Really? That's amazing! How many weeks are you?" He questioned as he examined my stomach. "Around 8 weeks old, at least that's what the doctor said," I responded. "Wow, congratulations little sis." He patted me on my head then grabbed his car keys. "Where're you going?" I frowned.
"Don't you mean where are we going?" He grabbed my hand and pulled me up.
"Okay, where are we going?"
"Somewhere."

"The park?" I questioned him. Why would he drive me to the park of all places? "Just be patient with me sis." He said as he stopped the car and got out. I followed him to wherever it was he was leading us. We started to walk down a small trail and after a while I started to realize where it was that we were going. It was the little corner of the park where we would always have family picnics at. After a couple of steps, I noticed people were sitting there but it wasn't until I came closer that I realized who those people were. My friends and family, almost all of them were there waiting for us.
Isa turned to me with a mischievous smile on his face. "Adam kinda already called all of us a couple of hours ago." He said as he scratched the back of his head. "Wow, I don't know what to say." I stated honestly. "You don't have to say anything sweetie." I recognized my father's voice from afar. I quickly ran up to him and gave him a hug as I tested up a little once again. Words can't explain how much I love and respect my father. "Careful habibti." He said as he gestured to my stomach. I couldn't help but laugh a little bit.

"Don't worry, Baba."
"My turn!" Grams cut in. I quickly wrapped my arms around her small frame. "I'm so happy for you habibti."
"I love you, Grams."
After a couple of seconds, we all walked up to where everyone else was. Amir, Aliyah, Samiyah, Abdi and Ihsan along with baby Samira even Alex were present. The last person I saw was Adam, even though I saw him a couple of hours ago he looks even more handsome. Is that even possible? He then walked up to me and planted a kiss on my forehead. "You did all of this?" To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I mean how could he get everyone here and decorate this place in such a short amount of time? "Yup, just for you and our prince or princess in your stomach." He responded as he gently touched my stomach.
After a little while, we all sat down and started to grub on food that Grams had prepared. Again, how did they have time for this!? I guess the world may never know. "Have you thought of names?" Sam asked excitedly. Adam and I looked at each other for a second before replying. "If we have a girl we want to name her Maysa." I've always loved that name ever since I was little.
"And if we have a boy I want to name him Isaac." Adam stated. After a while, we started to eat the food that Grams made and took pictures around the pretty garden. Right now my mind was still in a daze, not just because of the fact that I'm pregnant but also because my friends and family took time out of their day just to celebrate with us. As I looked around, I couldn't help but think of my mother. I wonder what she would say if she were here.
I know she would be happy for me. It's at times like these that I really start to miss her. I miss her voice, her laugh, her smile...I just miss her presence. Whenever she'd walk into a room she'd light it up with her beautiful personality. I hope to see a little bit of her in my daughter or son I'm Shaa Allah. Hey," Adam whispered into my ear. "What's wrong babe?" He looked concerned.
I shook my head with a light smile on my face. "Nothing's wrong, thank you for everything." I looked around to see if anyone was looking at us before placing a light kiss on his lips. He smiled as he looked a little bit taken back by my sudden kiss.
"My pleasure."
Before I could say anything baby Samira came running towards me and sat on my lap. "Aunty! You gonna have a baby?" She asked adorably. "In Shaa Allah I will sweetie and you'll have a cousin." I replied as I pinched her chubby cheeks. "Yay!!" She squealed. Adam laughed at the sight in front of him and leaned towards Samira. "Are you that excited?" He asked as he played with her long brown curly hair.
"Yea! I be amazing cousin!" She exclaimed.
"She's too adorable Mashallah."

2 Months Later
"What do you think of this dress?" Sam tried on what seemed like the thirtieth dress. Ms.Mitchel, Aliyah, and I have been standing outside of her dressing room for the past hour, waiting for her to finally decide. This time when she stepped out of the dressing room was different though. The dress that she picked out was a white laced long-sleeved wedding dress that fit her like a glove. "Wow, it's like this was made for you." The sales lady gasped.
Normal when they'd say that I'd roll my eyes because all they want to do is sell. But it's actually true this time, it's like this dress was actually made for her. "You look amazing sweetie." Ms. Mitchel gushed as she brought a hand to her mouth. "Really?" Samiyah looked at herself in the mirror.
"No lie, you really do look amazing." Aliyah added.
"Wow is all I could say."
I can't wait until the day her and Isa finally get married.
