《The Unwanted Proposal》Part 4

The text message read: Meet me at 7 outside your house. I'll be there to pick you up. (Aditya)
It came as a shock to Avni that Aditya sent her a text when they never even talked. She wondered how he managed to get her phone number then she reminded herself that he must have asked his father. She read the message again and she could not suppress her irritation at the message he sent her. He didn't even bother to ask her whether she wanted to have the dinner with him. How dare he command me like that. Who he thinks he is, she thought. She already began to unlike him. God knows how will she be able to survive further. She will not take that commanding attitude from him. She will show him that she is strong and worth respecting for.
The day went by occupied in her work so after finishing her all day activities she thought about the message. 'May be I am being hard on him he must have texted me in a good way!' She then took out the phone and read it again. Definitely he commanded me not requested me she thought.
When it was 6, she collected herself because she was in no mood to go tonight. On the other hand, her mother was far too excited than Avni after knowing that she was going to have dinner with Aditya.
It was her mother who pushed Avni to get dressed for the evening and be presentable. Avni then thought it better not to argue about it and after getting dressed she looked herself in the mirror.
She had left her hair open and wore a dark brown dress that ended slightly above her knee. The dress hung her body very nicely and with her complexion she looked pretty.

At 7 sharp, Avni heard the sound of a car. As she went outside her room she heard excited voice of her mother. 'Avni! Aditya is here.'
Aditya is punctual she thought. She stepped into the living room and saw Aditya sitting on her couch his back towards her. He was a dark haired man with stiff shoulders. He was wearing a suit as if he came out of a meeting. He looked quite in control from where she could see him.
Avni went forward and greeted Aditya. 'Hi! Aditya nice to meet you.' She looked at his face and paused as she began to take in his features. He looked quite handsome with high cheek bones and stubble jaw. He got those dark eyes in which you would want to get lost. For a second Avni got lost in her thoughts but then she remembered where she was.
What was that Avni scolded herself in mind.
Aditya smiled and Avni could see a dimple on his chin. How a man could look so beautiful she thought. What is wrong with me!!
Aditya stood up and looked at his watch. 'I think we should leave now. Shall we?' He gave his hand to Avni to escort her out and she took it without a word and they went out.
Without a beat Avni's eye went straight to the vehicle parked in front. She was surprised to see that it was a Maserati standing graciously. It was beautiful!! She had to be impressed with that but she knew it wasn't a big deal for him to have such an expensive car.
Before she could open her door Aditya stepped forward and opened the door for her like a perfect gentleman. Avni's mind drifted to the past when she met him once when they were kids. He was never a gentleman before always upto something. She heard his mother complaining that he never listen to her. Time and age can bring so much change in a person. They were not kids anymore she reminded herself.

She looked at Aditya as he was waitng for her to get inside the car. He looked somewhat uncomfortable and a bit impatient. Its good she thought she was no less irritated with him. She was still pissed at his text message. She felt it amusing to make him wait. But then she thought it better now to do what was expected. In future, she will find plenty of time to make him mad.
The journey started quietly without sharing any word. After 5 minutes, Avni couldn't bear it she broke the silence and said, 'Where are we going?'
Aditya gave a her a side glance and said, 'Somewhere nice to eat and talk.'
'But would you not tell me where?'
'Relax Avni I am not going to kidnap you.' Aditya said smiling towards her. Damn his dimple Avni thought. It was the first time he said her name. It sounded different than anybody who called her by her name.
'Ok' Avni said rolling her eyes. 'Would you mind if I play the music here?'
'Sure! Help yourself I am fine with it.' Avni found that he had quite interesting taste in music. She started the music system and the space was filled with the melodies.
She just closed her eyes and listened to the music. After a few seconds she heard Aditya singing along with it and tapping his fingers over the steering wheel with the rhythm. She found it amusing that he could sing so well. She felt her mood lighten.
She smiled at this and at the same time Aditya looked at her and smiled too. At that point, Avni felt that it couldn't be so bad. Atleast they could become good friends.
