madelyn was chatting with derek about george o'malley.
"i can't believe he got the first surgery!" she fumed.
"don't worry madelyn, you'll get one soon."
"i don't know," madelyn was cut off when meredith walked into the room.
she looked straight at derek, then to madelyn, back to derek, then fled the scene.
"i didn't know meredith worked here?" derek questioned.
"i didn't know you didn't know! go talked to her!" madelyn pushed.
derek followed meredith while madelyn headed to the viewing gallery.
george was setting up his things in the o.r. while interns where piling in.
madelyn sat down next to a taller man with short buzzed and a clean shaven face.
he looked at her, and out stretched his hand.
"hi, i'm alex, karev."
madelyn turn to alex and gave him a smile, shaking his hand.
"madelyn, grey."
"so you're the one everyone's talking about."
"what do you mean?"
"you're ellis greys daughter, right?"
"yeah.."
madelyn didn't like talking about her mother. she decided not to continue the conversation.
soon, meredith walked in. george was going over the steps for his surgery.
"hey mer!" madelyn said, patting the seat she saved for her sister.
meredith ignored madelyn and sat somewhere else.
"ten bucks says he messes up the mcburny." someone bet.
"fifteen says he cries." christina continued.
"i'll put twenty on a total meltdown." madelyn joined.
"fifty says he pulls the whole thing off."
everyone stopped to look at meredith. she continued,
"that's one of us down there, the first one of us. where's your loyalty?"
"seventy-five says he can't even i.d. the appendix." christina broke the silence.
"i'll take that action." izzie agreed.
the room fell quiet as burke walked into the o.r.

"okay, o'malley, lets see what you can do." said burke.
"here it comes," madelyn said, everyone leaned in closer.
"scalpel."
💙💙💙
everyone started to pour out of the room, all murmuring "007."
madelyn was walking with izzie, when she notice meredith not far behind. she slowed, now standing beside meredith.
"mer, talk to me."
"no."
"c'mon mer, what did i do?"
"you could have at least warned me he was here."
"look, mer. i'm sorry. please, don't be mad at me."
meredith looked at her sister before nodding.
"fine, but that doesn't mean i'm happy with you."
madelyn smiles to herself, while following the other interns.
the group had found a hallway with a few gurneys and sat down.
george plopped himself into a wheel chair.
"007. they're calling
me 007, aren't they." he whined.
"no ones calling you double 007." everyone said in unison, but george wasn't convinced.
"on the elevator, murphy whispered, 007."
"how many times do we have to go through this george? five, ten, give me a number, or else i'm going to hit you." christina shot, walking out of the hall to the vending machine.
"murphy whispered 007 and every laughed." george said quick, before she was out of earshot.
"he wasn't talking about you." izzie lied.
"are you sure?" george asked.
"would we lie to you?" meredith answered with a question.
"yes." george stated.
"007 is a stated of mind." christine said loudly, making sure he heard.
"says the girl who finished first in her class at standford." george shot back.
it went silent for a second, then christina's pager started going off, then so did everyone else's.
"oh man, it's nine-one-one for katie bryce. i gotta go." meredith said before running off.

"maybe i should have gone into geriatrics. no one whines when you kill an old person." george whined.
"george, shut up. seriously, quit whining." madelyn snapped.
"surgery is hot. it's the marines. it's macho, it's hostile. it's hard-core. geriatrics is for freaks who like with their mothers and never have sex." christina shot.
"i've got to get my own place." george mumbled.
izzie let out a laugh before madelyn stood up.
"see you around, guys." she said before walking away.
madelyn walked around, trying to find an on-call room. she was severely tired and needed sleep.
madelyn eventually found one, and plopped herself down onto the bed. she let out a sigh and closed her eyes.
madelyn was awoken by a pager going off. she shot up, looking for hers. as it turned out, the pager that was going off didn't belong to her.
she decided now was a good time as any to get up. madelyn made her way to the trauma room, thinking maybe she could be of use.
she got down to the trauma room, and to her dismay, there was nothing.
all the other interns where busy with something, that left seemingly nothing for her to do.
madelyn sat in the trauma room at one of the desks, deciding that she could maybe help run the pit.
after a few hours, madelyn grew bored decided to go to the cafeteria. she grabbed a few grapes and a banana and with a scalpel, carefully sliced the grapes open first. she then pulled out her suture kit and started to suture the grapes.
after she was done with the grapes, she moved onto the banana, slicing the peel open.
halfway through her sutures, derek approached where she was sitting.
"i'm holding a meeting in the break room, all interns must attend, c'mon." he said, gesturing for her to follow.
madelyn quickly put her suture kit away
and through the banana and grapes into the trash before following derek.
she followed him into a room filled with the other interns. she took a seat next to meredith and waited.
derek walked in and meredith immediately tensed.
"well, good morning everyone." derek started.
"morning." everyone echoed back.
"i'm gonna do something pretty rare for a surgeon. i'm gonna ask interns for help. i've got this kid, katie bryce. right now, she's a mystery. she doesn't respond to our meds. her labs are clean, the scans are pure, but she's having seizures, grand mail seizures with no visible cause. she's a ticking clock. she's gonna die if i don't make a diagnosis, which is where you come in. i can't do it alone. i need your extra minds, extra eyes. i need you to play detective. i need you to find out why katie is having seizures. i know you're tired. you're busy. you got more work then you can possibly handle. i understand, so i'm going to give you an incentive. whoever finds the answer rides with me. katie needs surgery. you get to do what no interns get to do, scrub in to assist on an advanced procedure. dr. baileys gonna hand you katie's chart. the clock is ticking fast, people. if we're going to save katie's life, we have to do it soon."

The Ascendant: Endless Reincarnation
My name is Richard Brooks. I died while saving a kid. Kicking the bucket at 28 was really depressing, you know? There’s so much I still wanted to do. But instead of passing on, I was thrust into an endless series of reincarnations. Whenever I die, I earn Karma points based on my achievements and growth. These points can be exchanged for weapons, spells, or other bonuses to make my next lives more interesting. “What kills me only makes me stronger!” Or something like that. Honestly, it feels like I’m stuck in an RPG. The difficulty setting can be pretty ridiculous too. Sometimes all I can do is grit my teeth in frustration as I die an ignoble death. But I won’t complain. Even when it’s dangerous and painful, I love life. This is all an opportunity; I’ll do my best, no matter what kind of sadistic fate the System throws at me. I will swing the warhammer of justice! Craft and enhance the most amazing artifacts! Overwhelm opponents with a barrage of auto-casting spells! Lead powerful vassals in Domain wars! All for the sake of creating an eternal sanctuary. With my unique power of Runecrafting, maybe I’ll even become strong enough one day to overturn fate… or at least find out what the hell is really going on. It might take a few hundred or a thousand lifetimes, but what’s the rush? I have all the time in the world now. (Note: R15+ This is the work of a very inexperienced author with a full time job. Please expect an erratic release schedule.)
