《A Fiery Love: A Charlie Weasley Love Story》Chapter 3: Remembering

The next morning my arm felt horrible, but I knew I couldn’t let this little thing bother me. I unwrapped my bandage to reveal my burnt skin and raw arm. I cleaned it the way Charlie had taught me and wrapped it back up again with a clean bandage. As I continued to get ready I noticed the texture of my hair felt dry, and in some places you could see it was completely fried.
“Aw great!” I rolled my eyes as I began to braid my hair.
As soon as I was done I headed out the door. The fresh air hit me and it felt wonderful. Hopefully today I wouldn’t get hurt.
Charlie was waiting for me near where we first met. He had that cute smile on his face as he watched the baby dragons.
“Hey Charlie!” I smiled at him.
“Hey Isabella! How’s the arm?” He asked pointing at it.
“It’s alright, and you can call me Izzy.”
“Alright Izzy! Well, you ready to start the day?” He led me out of the building but in another direction than yesterday.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“You said you wanted to study the Dragons in their environment, right? Well I’m taking you somewhere where you can easily see them without getting hurt again!”
We walked up a rocky mountain. The walk wasn’t too bad until I slipped and scraped my knee. I hid it from Charlie how much it actually hurt and continued on our way. When we got to the top Charlie put a huge smile on his face.
“Look down.” He told me.
I glanced down and my jaw dropped to the floor. From the top you could see everything! You could see dragons nesting, protecting their area, feeding, taking care of their young! It was absolutely amazing!!!

“Do you like it?” He asked shyly.
“I love it! This view is amazing!” I was completely amazed by how everything looked.
“You can stay up here as long as you want. If you need anything just let me know.” Charlie smiled at me and headed down the mountain.
As soon as he left I pulled out a pen and paper and began writing down everything I saw. While observing I noticed a small Swedish Shortsnout pacing up and down. She looked hot and bothered. I decided it would be best to let Charlie know. I left my back pack and note pad there and went to find Charlie. I didn’t have to go very far, he was coming up the mountain towards me.
“Is everything alright?” He asked.
“Um, I’m not sure. Can you come look at something?”
“Yeah.” Now his face looked a little worried.
As I showed him the Shortsnout he got a curious look on his face.
“Is she going to be alright?” I asked curiously.
“Yeah she’s alright, but she doesn’t seem irritated doesn’t she?” He raised one eyebrow. “I think I’ll go down there and she whats up.”
Before I knew it he disapparated and was next to the Dragon. He looked her thoroughly to make sure everything was alright. When he opened her mouth he noticed something and began to laugh. He pulled something out and apparated back to me.
“What was it?” He was still laughing.
“She had a rock stuck in her teeth.” He showed me the rock and it was pretty big.
“That would bother me too if that was stuck in my teeth!” I let out a little laugh and looked down at her. She was laying on her belly looking much better.

I looked back at Charlie and he was staring at me. His eyes were just a gorgeous green and I knew I’ve seen them before!
“I know I’ve seen you before Charlie, but I just can’t put my finger on it!” I blurted out.
“When you started Hogwarts I was in my sixth year.” He smiled at me.
“You remembered that?” I questioned.
“Yeah.” He blushed. “I would see you walking around a lot, but never talked to you.”
I smiled up at him and wondered why he was blushing so hard.
“When you walked in the building for the first time I immediately recognized you.” He said. “Your eyes are still as beautiful as I remember.”
I must have been blushing because he looked away and cleared his throat.
“Sorry if that sounded strange.” He blushed.
“It didn’t sound strange at all.”
“Well it’s been a long day you should probably get some rest. I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Of course.”
He walked away with a smile on his face. How could I not remember him from Hogwarts? He seemed to remember me perfectly.

The Emperor's Chef
"Cook like your life depends on it, kid. Because it does." Charles had an enviable future lined up for him. Training from the age of five by some of the finest chefs in the world. Schooling at a top culinary academy in the capital. An honorable position as heir to House Boulier, a line of merchant-lords who have charmed the rich and powerful with their cooking for centuries. And in a single night, it all burned to ash. When the outbreak of war destroys his hometown, Charles is charged with escorting his family’s sacred treasure—a recipe book passed down for untold generations—out of harm's way. But his simple mission grows complicated when he’s captured by one of the most feared battalions in the world: the Spears of Mercy. Life as a prisoner in their war camp is brutal and uncertain. Charles has few allies and even fewer strengths to rely on. Only his skills in the culinary arts, honed over a lifetime in the kitchen, are deemed useful enough to keep him alive another day. But he’s not out of hope just yet. With a dash of wit, a pinch of luck, and some very creative cooking, he might just find a way to recover his family’s legacy and take back his freedom. This project is a food-themed fantasy that centers on cooking and chefs. The setting spans a wide world featuring ingredients/recipes both real and inspired by traditional fantasy. I'll eventually be publishing it as a full-length novel (or series of novels depending on length). These are the first draft chapters. I'll likely be re-writing more than once, then editing before publishing, so impressions and feedback are quite welcome. If you like the story so far and you're interested in being an early reviewer for the final product, feel free to message me. I'm looking for an artist to make some concept art and a cover (the cover shown here is just a temporary placeholder). A stand-alone novel for now, but it may turn into a series down the road.

Unwitting Champion
"In stories this is always easy. There's magic and powers, and quick steps to claiming that power for one's self. This doesn't feel true for me. I'm supposed to be a Champion, whatever that means, and yet I don't feel important. I don't have all the bells and whistles, which honestly feels familiar even in a new world. But what was I expecting? I haven't had the worst life - there are people with worse problems than mine - I've known what it is to struggle, to be pulled down instead of being helped up.This is nothing new."When in great peril, the Kingdom of Althor has no choice but to send a call into the void, beseeching the Fates to bring them a man who would save them from the coming darkness. Unfortunately the path the Fates chart is often unknowable to men and the Champion who appears is not what the kingdom expected.Unwitting Champion is a story of a guy displaced, dealing first and foremost with trying to survive in a world where he is no longer a person but a tool, and - at least from the reaction of those around him - a shoddy one at that. His major goal is to survive long enough that either he can run or find a way home, because as exciting as the possibility of learning magic might be, he would rather have a boring life than a short life.
