《A Fiery Love: A Charlie Weasley Love Story》Chapter 2: A Wonderful First Day

The cottage was small but comfortable. It was completely made out of stone and it was two bedrooms and one bathroom. Everything seemed perfect for me. I’ve never been interested in big fancy houses or living in the lap of luxury.
I glanced at the clock and it read 8:23 AM. I was suppose to meet one of the Dragon Trainers at 9:00 to discuss what I was going to be doing and how close I could get without becoming barbeque. Thinking this scared me a little. Imagine what my mom would say if I came home with all these burn marks. I pushed the thought out of my mind and decided to just get there a little earlier than expected.
I walked out of the cottage to see nothing but rocks everywhere and a few had claw and burn marks on them. The place must not be far at all. I walked a little farther and sure enough found a building reading ‘Dragon Insitution’. It sounded like somewhere you would take mentally ill dragons. Stepping through the door the smell of brimstone and something burning hit me hard. I looked around to see what was burning but couldn’t see a thing. There were dozens of men, some of them looked like they just came out of the fire pit. There was a glass window near me that I decided to look through. Inside were dozens of eggs in incubators, some eggs looked hatched already. The next glass window had baby dragons, all different types, some I was not familiar with.
“They’re beautiful aren’t they?” Ask a voice next to me.
“Yeah they are.” I turned to the man and looked into his green eyes. “I’m Isabella Jennings. I’m here to study the dragons and their environment for a month.” I stuck my hand out for him to shake and he gladly took it.

“Charlie Weasley, nice to meet you. So you’re the one everyone’s been talking about.”
“I hope it’s nothing bad!” I felt my face blush deeply.
“Oh no!” He laughed. “It’s going to be nice to have a girl around here for once. Come on let me show you around.”
Charlie was a semi tall guy with a muscular built. He had bright red hair and freckles all over his face. His smile was gentle, but made his face light up.
As he explained everything to me I couldn’t help but stare at his eyes. I’ve seen those eyes before, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
“Any questions?” He asked. All I could do was shake my head. “Great! Let’s get started”
I followed him into a room that was filled with baby dragons. Charlie was naming each dragon by their type and the name they had given them. He explained to me that the dragons in here were sick and that some may not make it. That tugged at my heart a little knowing I may never see some of them again. Charlie could see it affected me to hear this.
“Hey, don’t worry!” He gave me a big smile. “We’re doing our best to help these little guys out.”
“Where do you normally work?” I asked.
“With the Dragons that most don’t want to work with. I enjoy a challenge.” He gave me a fast wink when he said ‘challenge’. “Do you want to see them?”
“S-s-sure.” I stuttered out.
“Don’t worry they won’t hurt you with me around.”
He led me out of the building and into the arena with huge dragons. What did I get myself into? I thought.
Charlie brought me over to a full grown Hungarian Horntail who did not look like he wanted to be bothered.

“Hey there boy!” He said to the Dragon.
The Dragon looked at him with his ember eyes. Smoke began to come out of his mouth. Before I knew it I was on the floor with Charlie on top of me and fire above us.
“Sorry about that, General doesn’t take well to strangers.” He looked down at my arm and had a surprised face. “That doesn’t hurt?”
“What?” I looked down at my arm and noticed I got burned. “Oh! Wow!” As soon as I said that I felt the pain.
“Come on let’s get you cleaned up.” He smiled at me and led me inside.
Wonderful first day right?
