[3rd Person POV]

3 months have passed since that day...that faithful day. The nightmares still haunt (Y/n), they had almost every time he closed his eyes. The screams and cries of help from Wanda as she turned to dust, fading before (Y/n)'s very eyes. For the first month, he'd get down on his knees every night and ask God...Why? Why would he take away such a kind, beautiful, caring soul, and leave someone like him on this Earth? If he could, he'd replace positions with Wanda that very second, yet he couldn't, so he was left to fight on this Earth as Half a man...

It was a storming night in New York City, and like most people on a stormy night they were tucked away in their beds fast asleep as the sound of rain drops struck the roof above them. But not everyone was like this because whereas the good were asleep, protected by the hand of God, it was those who were against that were committing their sins in the dark. But what they didn't know was that the lord had a servant to deal with those who lurk in the dark, and right now he was saying a prayer. He prayed that when he started punching them...that he'd be able to stop.

As thunder roared in the background near a shipping container yard a black van can suddenly be pulling up to the entrance. A few seconds pass as the engines turn off before two tall men in black coats exit the vehicle and pull out a trio of screaming women, who they proceeded to drag into the shipping yard where a black man by the name of Turk Barret. With a grin, he proceeded to open one of the shipping container doors, which only caused the trio of women to scream further.

Woman #1: "Help!"

Woman #2: "Help me!"

Woman #3: "Someone please help us!"

Turk: "Hey! Hey!"

Woman #2" "Help! Please!"

Turl: "Man, shut up. Look, I'm getting $1,000 a head for y'all. So, you be quiet...I let you have a bucket."

Once said Turk signal to the interior of the shipping container where a white bucket could be seen on the ground.

Turk: "But if you don't..."

Reaching into his hand Turk retrieves a blank baton, but upon pressing a button on the side ignite sparks from the top, signifying that it was more than a baton, but a taser. The mere image of this item caused the girls to scream once more.

Woman #1: "No! No. Please, no."

But these pleas fell on deaf ears as Turk rolled his eyes before approaching and grabbing one of the women which he proceeded to slam the taser into her chest, electrocuting her. The woman's body immediately goes limp, allowing Turk to easily toss her into the container, which causes the woman's friends to rush to her side.

Turk: "Scream all you want. No one's going to hear you."

Oh, how wrong he was. Because just behind Turk atop another shipping container (Y/n) stood, decked in his black suit, crouched as he watches them. A quick view at his chest shows sticks within the seams of the shirt he wore, behind them a still functioning injury of the times passed. But (Y/n) refused to get it properly looked at, for he decided that it was the perfect reminder that he failed...and that he'd never fail again.

Turk: "Come on, let me hear you scream. Scream loud. It's okay. Nobody gives a shit down here."

And the girls do scream, but not because of Turk, but because of him. The dark figure they see behind the criminal causes them a fright, their screams alerting Turk who turns around just as (Y/n) launches from the container and punches the man across the jaw. The echoes of Turk's jaw clicking hit (Y/n)'s ears as his body drops to the ground, the baton falling loose from the criminal fingers. As for (Y/n), time around him slows down as he tilts his head. The footsteps of both of the henchmen enter next, each coming from opposite directions. But (Y/n) doesn't overreact, instead, he waits...He waits for them to come to him.

With a single step backward (Y/n) starts the fight. Immediately it goes in his favor as the two henchmen running at 100 miles per hour collide into one another, allowing easy access for (Y/n) to spin and punch one square in the jaw, before dropping down on one leg and spin kicking the feet out of another. That one's head collided with the ground, similar to Turk, which allowed (Y/n) to focus on a single adversary. Jumping to his feet (Y/n) immediately catches the oncoming punch, which he allows to go over his shoulder before he spins and snaps the arm. A loud crunch floods the air, followed by the satisfying screams.

Now with the henchman's focus on his arm, this allowed (Y/n) to spin back around and boot the guy in the chest, hunching him over enough that (Y/n) was able to jump into the air and knee him directly in the forehead with a powerful strike. But just as one body fell, another rose. The second henchmen came rushing at (Y/n), and were able to land a few punches to the face and chest, but not enough to outdo the former Man without Fear. He quickly brought the motion of the fightback his way by grabbing a hold of the henchman's hair and head butting him directly forward. But this henchman seemed tougher than the other as he proceeded to wrap his arms around (Y/n)'s chest and dropped him to the ground.

As this happened Turk slowly returned to consciousness, where he was given a front-row view of his henchmen beating down on daredevil. But even so, that didn't stop him from reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out his gun. But as this happened, back in the fight, (Y/n) did a kick-up from the ground, easily landing on his feet without any help from his hands, which allowed him faster movement in turning around and booting the henchman directly against the head, leaving him concussed on the ground. However, he was given little time to rest as the loading of Turk's gun echoed through his ear, alerting (Y/n) to quickly jump to the side and hide within the shadows that the in-between of the containers supplied him.

Slowly Turk got to his feet and approached the corridor that held the darkness (Y/n) ventured into. With his gun raised and ready Turk stepped forward. But as each step took place, Turk stepped further and further away from (Y/n) as the masked man somehow got behind the criminal. Whether on purpose or not the sound of (Y/n)'s footsteps running along the container roof reached Turk's ears, alerting him to turn around and fire suddenly. But he hit nothing, there was no sign of (Y/n) anywhere...For three seconds. Because three seconds later (Y/n) jumped from the roof, kicking Turk in the back which sent him forward to collide with the container door head first. His scream of pain follows as he falls to the ground and grasps his nose, which is revealed to be broken. Upon turning around his eyes finally strike the mask of Daredevils.

Turk: "Fuck, man. Seriously, it's you? I thought you were all high profile now, heard you were with the big heroes."

(Y/n): "Don't always believe what you hear Turk. I'm always watching..." [Looks around] "And it looks like you're back up to your old tricks. And you know how they normally end when I'm involved? In..."

Turk: "...Jail, I know. Come on, man. Help a brother out. I'm on parol I can't get caught."

As Turk begins to plead (Y/n) turns around and faces the woman in the container, their rapid heartbeats, their fear in their systems immediately strikes a part within (Y/n)...A part of sadness and sorrow. However, Turk mistook this sorrow for a more...wild side of Daredevil, which was confirmed as a smirk crawled on his lips.

Turk: "Oh...Haha. You know, uh...If you let me go, I'm sure one of those girls could be perfect for you. Hehe. I mean, I heard what happened to that witch girl you were with...Sad, such a hot numbe--"

With each word exiting Turk's mouth (Y/n) grit his teeth harder together until suddenly he broke with a loud scream.

(Y/n): "AARRRGGH!"

Spinning around in a pit pure rage (Y/n)'s howl echoed through the air as he grabbed Turk by the back of the head, immediately causing the criminal to lose his smile, before proceeding to repeatedly smash it into the hard concrete ground below. The sound of hard bone turning to mush wasn't long away as (Y/n) showed no relent in his attack, the only thing guiding him now was not his purpose to protect the innocent, but to cause violence on these he wished. Heavy breathing began as (Y/n)'s attacks slowed down, to the point he eventually allowed Turk's head free from his grasp to rest in the pile of blood and a broken skull. Those heavy breaths continue as he rises to his feet and tilts his head towards the women in the shipping container.

(Y/n): "Head towards 48th...Stay in the lights...Flag down the first officer you see."

But the women don't remove, instead, they just stay where they are, looking at the man in black with uncertainty. That was soon to change.

(Y/n): "Now!"

Immediately they hop to their feet as (Y/n) smashes his fist against the side of the shipping container. The women get up and sprint out of the shipping yard leaving (Y/n) to just walk around in circles, unsure of why he just did what he did when suddenly a familiar voice calls out, calming him ever so slightly.

(???): "Well, I see you've gotten more aggressive."

The voice of Natasha Romanoff strikes (Y/n)'s ears, causing him to lift straight up and breathe heavily as his blind eyes look aimlessly into the distance.

(Y/n): "You shouldn't be here..."

Natasha: "What? Be in Hell's Kitchen, or here...With you?"

A smirk found its way to Natasha's lips, infuriating (Y/n). But he didn't lash out, instead, he merely turned around and walked in the way of Natasha, though stopped when he was directly beside her. Once there, he tilted his head and whispered in a deep, breathless tone.

(Y/n): "You choose...Both will hurt you."

With that (Y/n) keeps walking as he goes to make his way out of the shipping yard, however, Natasha, who's now crossed her arms, turns around with a grin and laughs, clearly, the words of (Y/n) got to her, though she chose to play it off with a laugh.

Natasha: "Oh, trust me. I believe that. First, you break up with me because you had feelings for another girl. Then, when you got both the girls you decide to leave one when the other di--"

Natasha was quick to stop herself, but so was (Y/n) as he turned around to look in the direction of the Black Widow. But even so, Natasha was a big girl, she didn't let a simple glare she knew (Y/n) was giving her stop her from continuing.

Natasha: "So you left me and what...? Went back to beating up bad guys in hopes they'd go to some church and ask forgiveness for their sins?"

(Y/n): "Nothing drives people to the Church faster than the thought of the Devil snapping at their heels."

Natasha: "Don't you mean breaking them?"

(Y/n): [Scoffs] "Do you fucking hear yourself, Natasha? I'm no good for you, not in...the state I'm in. You think I left everything because of Wanda, because...I lost. I left so the pain I was holding inside wouldn't be brought out in you."

Ripping his mask off and tossing it to the side (Y/n)'s eyes finally made contact with Natasha's own. Her cocky smile quickly faded, turning to a more natural expression as she tried a different approach with her former boyfriend.

Natasha: "(Y/n), look, I know you're hurting...I am too. But when you just left the hospital without even talking to me...That hurt more. But you're too busy to focus on your own problems to see others, huh? Too focused on your own story that you can't even see mine, don't I get a happy ending?"

The daredevil's body was still and calm as he gaze in the direction of Natasha's voice, her voice calling out for comfort. Yet (Y/n) delivered her a line of truth he'd gotten from a surprising source...

(Y/n): "You know, a person told me once that not every gets a happy ending...Why did you come here?"

After (Y/n)'s previous reply, it seemed Natasha was tired of talking to the former Man without Fear, but with a flick of her tongue and a shift in eyesight so (Y/n) wouldn't see her tears welling, even though he'd probably just smell them in the air or something weird...Natasha gave a response, the best she could.

Natasha: "Steve actually wanted to see you, thought I could bring some reason to that shattered persona of yours. You know, to talk about everything that happened, the things you're trying to playoff."

(Y/n): "Why does he want to see me? I'm not an Avenger..."

Natasha: "Beats me." [Chuckles] "I told him it'd be a waste coming here, fuck, I wasn't even sure if I wanted you there. Because when I look into your eyes, I don't see (Y/n) (L/n), the person I loved, the 'only' person I gave my heart to."

(Y/n): "Then who do you see?"

The answer seemed obvious, but there was an itching feeling inside of his body that was clawing at him to say those words nonetheless. And so he waited for his own response, and even though he knew it was coming, it still stunned when he heard Natasha say it. Because she didn't see him as (Y/n) (L/n) anymore...

Natasha: "...The Devil."

A short while later, (Y/n), decked reluctantly in his Lawyer outfit and red-tinted glasses could be seen standing to the side of a table in the conference room of the Avengers compound. Around him are the usual faces, Steve, Rhodey, Pepper, Natasha, but (Y/n)'s attention was currently placed on a weak-looking Tony who is also sitting at the table, getting blood from a bag to help heal him. Though it isn't long before Tony immediately stares directly at (Y/n), speaking in a snappy tone.

Tony: "What?"

(Y/n): "Space is pretty rough, huh?"

Tony: "So this isn't my best look, I admit. But...Up there..."

He looks to the roof, but doing so only brings back the memories of what happened when he and his own team of heroes faced Thanos, causing him to weak in response as Pepper came to his side. (Y/n) softens in his own attitude and offers a heartfelt presence to Tony.

(Y/n): "It's good to see you're back."

Even with their history (Y/n) couldn't help but feel sorry for Tony in his current predicament, knowing Tony would do the same for him. But before the two could reconnect further, (Y/n)'s attention was then directed to the opposite side of the room where he sensed a new person looking his way. A small smile found its way to the Lawyers' face as he shifted towards her.

(Y/n): "Can I help you?"

(???): "No. Just heard you could sense people, even though you're blind apparently. That true?"

(Y/n): "Well...I definitely can't see, if that's what you want to know...Uh?"

He was inclining for the woman's name but was suddenly interrupted from getting it when Natasha entered the room, a smirk on her lips, though she was clearly holding angry intent as she walked behind (Y/n) and approached the side of the table the woman was sitting at.

Natasha: "Careful, Carol, even though he's blind don't think for a second he won't knock you up in bed before leaving the next day...Like most boys."

There were two things to take out of that conversation for (Y/n), one...The girl's name was Carol, and two, Natasha freely talked about their former sex life in public...What a day to be (Y/n) (L/n). Thankfully (Y/n) was saved from any more embarrassment when the voice of Rhodey spoke up, cluing everyone in on the current situation, whilst holograms of those who turned to dust appeared in front of the table.

Rhodey: "It's been 53 days since Thanos came to Earth and since then the world governments are in pieces."

Steve: "The parts that are still working are trying to take a census. And it looks like he did... he did exactly what he said he was gonna do."

(Y/n): "Thanos wiped out fifty percent, of all living creatures."

Tony: "Where is he now? Where?"

Steve: "We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through."

Natasha: "Hmm...Maybe we should ask (Y/n) to see if he can hear Thanos." [She turns to you] "Unless you don't plan on running off, Daredevil."

Immediately everyone and everything goes awkward as they turn to (Y/n) for a response, and as they do so (Y/n) slowly turns in the direction of Natasha's voice, looks above slightly, and responds.

(Y/n): "If I hear someone crying for help...Then yes."

A stare-off persues between the on again off again couple, but (Y/n) wastes little time, instead allowing his attention to be drawn away when Tony speaks up.

Tony: "What's wrong with him?"

Tilting his head towards where Tony's voice was headed, (Y/n) sensed the presence of Thor who currently sat in a separate room cut off by glass. But the answer to Tony's question was brought by Rocket, the talking Raccoon (Y/n) still had trouble believing existed.

Rocket: "Oh, he's pissed. He thinks he failed. Which of course he did, but you know there's a lot of that's going around, ain't there?"

Tony: "Honestly, until this exact second, I literally thought you were a Build-A-Bear."

Rocket: "Maybe I am."

The sentient animal said with a depressed voice, something (Y/n) knew far too well as of late. Even though that didn't stop him from repeating Tony's earlier question.

(Y/n): "Where's Thanos now?"

Steve: "We've been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep Space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing. (Y/n), you fought him."

(Y/n): "Yeah...and lost. Look, Cap, it's amazing you guys still give a person like me the light of day, but I don't know what you're looking for? Some sovereign light, some rallying speech that'll boost morale? I can't do any of that, it's hopeless. I'm hopeless. I can't change the past...But...I can stop making the same mistakes."

A moment of silence washes over the room as everyone takes in (Y/n)'s response. The silence stays for a brief moment longer until out of nowhere Rocket breaks it.

Rocket: "...Okay, wow. Was not expecting that from tall and shady over there."

Tony: [Sighs] "(Y/n)'s right. He's unbeatable."

Steve: "Alright Tony, what about you? Did he give you any clues, any coordinates, anything?"

Tony: "Pfft! I saw this coming a few years back. I had a vision. I didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming."

Steve: "Tony, I'm gonna need you to focus."

Tony: "And I needed you. As in past tense. That trumps what you need. You know what I need?"

Immediately the frail Tony stands, pushing things off the table with a clatter. Everyone winces at the noise,

Tony: "I need to shave. And I believe I remember telling all youse -

Tony goes for Steve. Quickly (Y/n) and Rhodey come in to catch the weak hero.

Rhodey: "Tony, Tony, Tony!"

(Y/n): "He's alive."

Tony: "Alive and otherwise what we needed was a suit of armor around the world! Remember that? Whether it impacted our precious freedoms or not- that's what we needed!

Steve: Well, that didn't work out, did it?
