(2 Months later...)

Matt's POV

"Can pass me another one Josie?"

I ask, sliding the empty cup back to her.

"This your last one." She says pouring me another shot of whiskey.

"I've only have... 5 or 6," I reply taking a sip of my drink.

"Matt, you've had 12, that's enough."

I drink the rest of my whiskey and just as I was a about to leave, I hear Karen calling my name.

"Hey Matt!"

I stop in my tracks and turn around to face her.

"Hey... K-karen. How are you?" I ask.

I wasn't very interested in want she wanted but I stayed anyway.

"I'm good. I was actually wondering if I could talk to you?"

"Yeah, please." I say pulling out a chair for her. After she sits down I push in her chair and sit next to her.

"What do you want to talk about?" I ask.

I was still feeling a light-headed from drinking, but I was able to handle a conversation.

"About the incident at your apartment. I wanted to say that I was sorry, I wasn't really myself at the time."

"Nah, nah...it's fine. We all have our moments."

"I also wanted to ask you something, if you don't mind."

"No I don't mind, what do you want to ask me?"

"Who was that guy at your apartment?"

My heart ached as I was brought back to that memory.

"N-no one important. I should've kicked him out when I had the chance."

I knew it was a low blow, but I didn't care.

"Why?"

"He...changed. He abandoned me when I needed him most. He wasn't even supposed to be there in the first place, but I got sucked into it cause I..."

"Because...you love him?"

"No!No, I could never... Not someone who's changed so much. I fell love with a completely different person, not him."

"How?" she asked.

"How what?"

"How did he change, Matthew?"

"He was...sweet. He'd never hurt me, or at least that's what I thought. He left without even saying goodbye. He's the kind of guy that hurts people. Not just physically but mentally and emotionally, too. You just- just need to let those people go sometimes before they leave you. Because if they do, it'll hurt like hell." I say as my anger started to build up.

"Do you miss him?"

I sat there, unable to answer that question. It bounced around my mind for a few seconds. I knew that I missed him, but I didn't have the courage to say it out loud.

"I...don't know if I could answer that."

"I think you can Matthew, I just don't if you want to admit it yet."

"So what if I do Karen, then what am I supposed to do?"

"A man once told me that people that could hurt you, or the ones that are close enough to doing so, to hold onto them. Use two hands and never let go. Unfortunately for me Matt, I let go and before I knew that person slipped right through my fingers. You still have a chance, don't miss out on it." karen says, getting up from her seat.

"T-Thanks Karen."

"No problem. Get home and get some rest."

I nod my head and wait for her to leave.

'Hold onto them. Use two hands and never let go.'
