《Long Way from Home | A Daredevil Fanfiction》Chapter 8

Frank's POV
I slowly open my eyes and try to sit up until I feel something heavy pushing my down. I look down and see Matt curled up in the blanket sleeping on top of me. His fluffy brown hair was standing out in different directions. I chuckle as I slowly run my fingers through it.
Matt glistened as the sunlight casted on his face. My fingers slowly explored it, catching every detail that I could. I slowly slithered my body from underneath Matt and crawled out of bed. I lifted his head and sat it down on the pillow next to me.
I walk out and into the kitchen to make breakfast. I look in the refrigerator and to my surprise there was barely anything in it.
'Matt, what do you eat?' I think to myself.
I walk back into Matt's room and grab my wallet. I quickly rub his head and leave out the door.
Matt POV
I wake up to the smell of something delicious and rub my eyes.
'Wheres that smell coming from?' I think to myself as I climb out of bed.
I walk out of my room and follow the scent.
"Hey, you're awake." A familiar voice said.
"Frank..?" I question in disbelief.
"Yeah Red, that's me. Are you OK?"
"Oh i-its nothing...just tired I guess."
'So it wasn't a dream...' I think to myself as I sit down at the kitchen counter.
"What're making, it smells great?"
"Bacon, eggs, and pancakes. I noticed you didn't have any food inside your refrigerator so I stocked it up for you." He said sitting a plate in front of me.
I thank Frank as he sits next to me and starts eating. After me and Frank were done with our food, I grabbed our plates and washed them.

'Just a little more-' I think to myself as I try to reach the top cabinet.
"Do you need a little help?" Frank asked.
"No, I got it." I say getting on my tippy toes.
"Almost there..." Just as I was about to put the plates in the cabinet, I slip and drop the them.
Before they could fall on my head Frank grabbed me by the waist and pulled me towards him.
I hear the plates smash on the floor, making my ears hurt.
"Are you stupid! You could've gotten hurt, I don't know if you remember this but you're blind Matt!"
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to bother you."
"I asked you if you needed help." Frank said still holding onto me.
My hand was on his chest and his arms was wrapped around me tight.
"You can let go now..." I say trying to push away from Frank, but he keeps me pressed against him.
My head tilted as my face inched closer to his. His free hand and cupped the side of my face, stroking my cheek with his thumb.
I finally close the gap in between us, bringing the rest of our body together. Our lips fit together like two puzzle pieces and I haven't that way in a long time. After what happened to Electra, I promised myself that I'd never fall in love again. I convinced myself that being in love only tears you apart. I've tried pushing the feeling away, but for some reason my love Frank could never be dismissed. It's too...addicting.
We finally pull apart, our figures still tightly pressed together as Frank rested his chin on my head
"Frank, I think I love-"
"Don't say it, Red." Frank interrupted.
"Why?"

"Because Matt I don't want to lose you."
"You don't have to, I'll stay by your side."
"You can't Matthew! I have to leave and I can't take you with me. Please...please don't say it cause if you do, I'll never leave."
I flinch at the sudden rise of his voice.
I nod, resting my head on his chest.
"I'm sorry Red, I'm sorry."
"It's OK Frank. Cmon, lets clean this up and go lay down." I say pointing to the broken dishes on the floor.
"Alright Red." Frank replies chuckling.
-
For the past two weeks Frank and I spent most of our time together, and everytime Frank would go to sleep I would whisper 'I love you' before drifting off as well.
My life had never felt more complete...that is until Frank disappeared without a trace.
Just a week before he was supposed to.

Outlook: The Stars (Consciousness Unbound Book 1)
The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a desperate last-ditch attempt to gain a future more lustrous than toiling the rest of his days away in abhorrent conditions in one of the near sweat-shop level factories that dot the megapolis, Rune signs up for the Virtual Citizen program, a program to cull the excessive world population by transferring just their brains into a video game. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
