"Let go of me." Irene hissed as she yanked her hand out of Jisoo's grip. She looked into the dark brown orbs in fury.

"You and I need to have a talk." Jisoo spat. She had dragged the brunette from her locker to an excluded area in the school.

"About what! Jennie broke up with me a week ago. It's past news!" The cheerleader scoffed. "Besides, aren't you supposed to be happy? You and her can finally get together."

"It's not about me! It's about Jennie." Jisoo countered. "And I'm only confronting you about it now because I didn't trust myself around you, alone, the last couple of days. I didn't know if I could restrain myself. You really screwed up, Irene. You hurt her and I wanted to hurt you. Badly."

The girl only rolled her eyes and huffed in annoyance. "I'm not scared of you, Kim. I've been with Jennie long enough to know that you are nothing but a coward." She mocked.

Jisoo clenched her fist and tried to even her breathing. "Don't you dare call me that!"

"It's true!" Irene retorted. "You are a fucking coward, Jisoo. You claim you 'love' Jennie yet you just stand there and let someone else make her happy. You didn't do anything to win her over those four years you've known her. And now... Now that there's nothing holding you back, you go off with some soccer player!"

"I didn't do anything because I respected her relationship with you! She was happy so I let her!" Jisoo yelled. "And leave Nayeon the fuck out of this."

"You blew it, Jisoo." The brunette chuckled ominously. "You had a chance to scoop the broken-hearted Jennie and yet you turned the other way."

The volleyball player took a sharp inhale and glared at Irene. "You are fucking twisted, you know that!"

"Oh honey, sometimes you have to play dirty to get the prize."

Something in Jisoo snapped causing her to punch the locker next to Irene's head. A small dent formed around her fist. The cheerleader shut her eyes and winced at the sound of the fist colliding with the thin metal.

"You didn't deserve Jennie." She bowed her head as gritted through her teeth. "She's too good for you."

A silence filled tension surrounded the space. Jisoo held her hand where it was as she tried to regain control over her emotions while the other girl's breath quivered.

"I knew from the moment she met you, I lost her." Irene croaked breaking the silence. "I tried to win her back all throughout freshman year. I did. But all she could talk about was you. I mean how can I compete. In her eyes you were perfect. "

The cheerleader felt a tear escaped her eye.

"I tried, Jisoo. But at some point, I had to accept the fact that I had lost her. She stayed with me, yes, but it was never the same."

"That doesn't justify your actions, Irene. You should have broken up with her the moment you knew." Jisoo growled lowly.

"I know. I was selfish." Irene admitted as she wiped off the tears streaming down her face. "I held on to something that wasn't mine to keep."

The dark-haired girl pulled back her hand and clutched it tenderly. She couldn't feel the pain due to the amount of adrenaline in her system but she knew it would feel like shit later.

"You could have done it you know." Irene said softly. "You could have easily taken Jennie from me all those years."

"She loved you." Jisoo rasped but the other girl only shook her head.

"No she didn't. As a friend maybe but as a lover... She thought she had an obligation to stay with me because we were each other's firsts," the cheerleader trailed off. "But I knew her heart belonged to someone else."

Irene stared at the brown-eyed girl before opening her mouth once again, "After four years of chasing are you really getting tired and giving up now?"

"Maybe..." Jisoo strained as shoved her hand in her jacket.

"She told me too."

"She really got you wrapped around her finger, doesn't she?" Irene chortled. She slipped out of where the volleyball player had cornered her and wiped her tear-streaked face. "Have fun with that. And just an FYI, Jennie is the jealous type and we both know she's hella competitive."

-

Weeks have passed after Jennie and Irene's breakup. The gossip about the couple had died down, however, a new topic had slowly risen: Jisoo and Nayeon. The two girls have been dating but not officially placed a label on their relationship. Jisoo spent more time with Nayeon while Jennie decided to drift off to give her some space not only for Jisoo but also for herself. She needed to set her priorities.

Jisoo scanned the gymnasium and saw a familiar girl sitting by the bleachers. She walked over and sat down next to Jennie, who was hunched over the seat trying to do her homework. She looked over her teammate's shoulder and saw that she was doing Biology.

"You need help, Jendeukie?" The pale girl uttered sweetly with the same flirtatious tone like before. Jennie lifted her eyes from the book and looked up to Jisoo with confusion written all over her face. Jisoo smiled at how adorable her teammate's expression.

"Kim." Jennie beamed. She missed Jisoo. They see each other every day at practice but that was for practice. She missed the talks, the playful banter, and the undivided attention she got from her. With Nayeon coming in the picture, she got less time with the dark-haired beauty. Jisoo sat with Nayeon during lunch and spends the entire school day by the soccer player's side then after practice Jisoo drove Nayeon home. "Funny seeing you here. You're usually with your girlfriend." She said bitterly.

Jisoo frowned. "She's not my girlfriend, Jennie. You know that."

"I know, I'm just teasing!" Jennie chuckled lightly; relief washed over her after hearing it from Jisoo putting an end to the rumors that have been going around.

"How are you, kid? I think this is the first time I've talked to you in a while since..." the older dragged.

"Nayeon." Jennie finished.

Jisoo nodded weakly. She brought a hand back to scratch behind her head. "Yeah... I'm sorry for not spending more time with you than I should have. Especially when you broke up with Irene. It's just that I wanted to see if Nayeon and I-"

"Jisoo, are you really apologizing for trying to find happiness?" Jennie cut in, shaking her head in disbelief. She smiled at how unreal this girl was.

"I guess I am." Her teammate let out a raspy chuckle.

"I'm great, Jisoo. Though I do miss your annoying, brilliant self." Jennie pouted. She let out an exaggerated sigh and flipped the page of her book. "I'm so lost in bio right now."

"What do you need help on?"

"These stupid finches in the Galapagos. Like what the hell... why did Darwin study birds?"

"Survival of the fittest. He wanted to see how natural selection took place in the wild and these finches were the living proof."

"I didn't quite get that. All I heard was your nerdy words." Jennie smirked. "Can't you just do it for me, please?"

She held out the worksheet for Jisoo to take. The pale girl sighed and grabbed the paper. The things she does for the brunette. Jisoo hunched down and started to do the worksheet while Jennie watched, a small smile plastered in her face.

"So why haven't you made it official with Nayeon?" The younger asked curiously. She brought up her pencil and trapped it between her teeth.

"I don't know." Jisoo shrugged, her attention focused on the worksheet.

"It's been five weeks, Jisoo."

"I know."

"Are you ever going to make it official?"

"I'm still trying to feel the spark with her..." Jisoo turned her head to face Jennie briefly. "I want to make sure I'm not making a mistake."

"Everyone adores you guys together. Don't you?"

"Everyone? Do you?" She lifted her thick eyebrow at her co-captain challengingly.

"U-uh, does it m-matter what I think?" Jennie stuttered. She hated the two girls together, always wanting to get far away whenever they're around.

"Immensely." Jisoo hummed she locked eyes with her favorite chocolate orbs and searched for answer.

Before Jennie could respond the gym door opened and a bunch of the girls from the soccer team came in, including Nayeon. They talked amongst themselves and settled on a spot on the bleachers while Nayeon walked over to the two volleyball players.

"Hey babe." She greeted Jisoo, pecking her on the cheek. Jennie knitted her eyebrows and gripped her pencil tighter. "I brought the whole team to support you on your game today. I'll be cheering for you. Go number four! Oh hi, Jenna."

"it's Je-Nnie." Jisoo corrected nicely. "And thank you."

"It's fine. Hi Nayeon, thanks for the support."

Nayeon bobbed her head and raised an eyebrow at Jisoo when she caught a glimpse of the worksheet she was working on. "What is that, Chu? Biology... didn't we already take that?"

"That's mine. She's helping me." The other girl retorted. "I hope you don't mind."

"Oh no it's cool. I already accepted the fact that Jisoo is a nerd." Nayeon joked. "Maybe I can help too. She and I took Biology together last year. Right, Chu?"

Jisoo hummed in agreement and handed the worksheet back to Jennie. "All done, Jendeukie."

"Thanks, Jisoo." Her teammate perked up, hopping off the bleachers and picked up her bag. She cringed when she noticed Jisoo pulling Nayeon onto her lap. After five weeks of watching the two girls get closer, Jennie have mastered how to calmly collect herself in situations like these. And that is to get the hell away from them. "I have to go change. See you guys later."

Jennie turned her heels and strolled down to the locker room. She looked back for a second, "you may have had Biology together but Jisoo and I have something called chemistry." She muttered to no one, snapping the wooden pencil in her hand in the process.

Their school ended up winning the volleyball game with Jennie setting up Jisoo for a perfect spike. The team decided to eat out in order to celebrate their victory and decided to invite the soccer team along thankful for their support.

"Jendeukie, do you want to ride with Nayeon and I to the restaurant?" Jisoo offered as they walked out of the locker room together.

"No thanks. I'm hitching a ride with Lisa." Jennie replied. She did not want to be stuck in the car with them.

"Oh okay." Her teammate mumbled in disappointment making Jennie feel guilty. The brown-eyed girl stopped her tracks and glared at Jisoo.

"Jisoo. Stop it." She grumbled knowing what the pale girl was up to.

"Stop what." Jisoo said innocently as stuck her bottom lip out.

"That!"

"Jendeukie, please ride with us. I want to talk and get to know Nayeon."

"No. I don't want to be a third wheel." Jennie whined.

"You won't!" Jisoo reassured. "I promise." She clasped her hands together and batted her brown eyes at Jennie.

"FINE!" The other girl huffed.

"Awesome." Jisoo stated. "Here let me get this for you." She made a move to grab Jennie's back but her teammate backed away.

"No I got it." Jennie smiled, clutching her bag possessively. She knew it was one of Jisoo's habits but she couldn't let Nayeon see and think of it another way.

"Okay..."

The pair joked around with each other as they walked to Jisoo's car. Jennie softly nudging Jisoo when the brown-eyed girl made fun of the facial expressions she made during the game.

"Your...face... was so... funny!" Jisoo laughed, holding her stomach as it cramped up.

"No it wasn't! Stopppppp!" Jennie mewled.

"So funny!" The pale girl declared.

"What's funny?" A voice not belonging to any of the two rang. Jisoo turned to her car and found Nayeon leaning against it with a puzzled look. Her laughter died down and she strolled over to the Australian.

"Hi." Jisoo engulfed Nayeon in a big hug. "Nothing, I was just telling Jendeukie that she makes the most amusing faces during the game."

Jennie stood there awkwardly and waved. "Do you mind if I ride with you guys to the restaurant?"

"Of course not!" Nayeon ridiculed.

"Thanks." She mumbled before scurrying in the backseat. Jisoo smiled gratefully at Nayeon and opened the door for her.

The distance from the school to the restaurant was short but the ride there seemed to take forever. Well in Jennie's perspective. She sat in the back silently as she listened to the duo in the front talk. Jisoo would bring her in the conversation every time Nayeon narrowed the topic down.

"Oh my god! Chu, it's your favorite song of all time." Nayeon turned the knob up, blasting 1975's 'Girls' in the car as she bobbed her head along with the bass.

"Yeah..." Jisoo put on a fake smile. She lifted her eyes on her rearview mirror and saw Jennie with an amused look on her face. The brown-eyed girl knew that even though Jisoo was a fan of the band, no one could beat TVXQ as her number one.

Once they arrived at the restaurant, Nayeon walked ahead both of volleyball players to catch up with her teammates.

"I see that you have traded TVXQ for the 1975." Jennie snickered.

"Shut up." Jisoo grumbled under her breath.

Jennie looked at her teammate and felt content. She was pleased to know she still knew Jisoo above anyone else. She found herself smiling at the dark-haired beauty. That's when it clicked.

"What?" The taller girl asked as she glanced over her teammate and caught her staring.

"Nothing." Jennie grinned. "I just suddenly realized what my priorities are and I think I'm ready to stand for it."
